Gabapentin/Neurontin Review

07:05
Gabapentin/Neurontin, is a medication used primarily for seizure disorders and pain associated with the nerves. It can be used for nerve pain related to the herpes virus or shingles. It is also commonly used by diabetics who have suffered nerve pain. I find that this medication continues to work wonder for me, even after daily use for 3+ years. It helps prevent my migraines (at least it seems to) and once I have one, it helps the dull the pain. It also has help with occasional back pain problems. It has been a life saver for my insomnia. I am able to cope better with my day to day task because this medication helps me cope with my Clinical Depression, of which has haunted me since the passing of my father. There is no such thing as a miracle pill or a miracle cure for anything, but this medication has been a huge help for me over the years. Thanks for reading/watching my video.

Opiate withdrawal remedies. Comfort meds.

02:44
Still day 2. The following are medications and doses I recommend. But that being said again I am no doctor. Just someone who's been here many many times and knows a lot about these medications. If you do have questions the safest bet is to contact your doctor. Any doctor. .1 mg clonodine. .1-.2 mg 2-3 times a day depending on severity of symptoms. I currently only use this at night as it makes me so so weak and tired. It's a blood pressure med and old school bit of withdrawal arsenal. I wouldn't take for more then a week due to possible rebound hypertension. .25-1 mg xanax, or whatever benzo. Don't substitute one addiction for another!!! Use sparingly, and only at night if possible. Don't use for more then a few days if possible. 50 mg trazodone. Old school med used for a variety of things including most commonly depression and insomnia. Some people need a higher dose. 100 mg is really good for me. I wouldn't go higher then 150 mg ever. Above meds are prescription meds that most doctors will give you for opiate withdrawal. 15-30 mg loperamide(Imodium) every 6-8 hours if needed. Or every 12-24 as needed. Dose can be higher or lower depending on severity of addiction. People have become dependent on this. This honestly is only something I do if I have no other option. With the prescriptions that I have during this detox the loperamide isn't usually needed. Last resort...So again don't substitute addictions!! In high doses it can almost completely eliminate w/d for some people. And some only need the loperamide. I personally only take this for a day or two and taper my last couple doses down. As I believe having a BM is better then not, to continue to clean you out. (Please note high doses taken for a long period, or even a short period can prolong the length of your w/d, similar to the way a Suboxone taper would.. So this choice is entirely up to you. Taken as directed will at least help with diarrhea). Other helpful meds and things: ibuprofen. Ginger. Fish oil. Multivitamins. Healthy food. Hot baths and showers. Exercise. Magnesium. Epsom salt. Electrolytes. Sugar and caffeine at times. Marijuana. Distraction. Distraction. Distraction. If I can do this after over a decade. You can to. Do your research. Listen to people's stories of recovery. Find and keep a hobby. Anything. Get your soul back. ❤️

Gabapentin causes twitching and jerking. Credits: Drugs.com/answers/you-Gabapentin

12:35
People want to know if Gabapentin or Neurontin can cause uncontrollable movements. - An older neurologist, described me; "Ballism, Chorea, and dystonic posture to the right hand. She has never taken neuroleptics. Jerking movements of the head, neck and arms, not so much to the legs. A casual relationship to Gabapentin has not been identified." He said in a referral to a university movement disorder clinic, "This is a very odd movement disorder, and stranger still is its possible relationship to Gabapentin. I have never heard of this possibility." The specialist said, "While Gabapentin is associated with dystonic reactions, these have been reported in the setting of chronic use and resolve when the medication is discontinued." Warning: Don't suddenly stop taking this medication. Always consult your physician.

The 3-Minute "Fibromyalgia and How To Improve Sleep!" Video’

05:07
Last month, we reported some exciting news about the link between fibromyalgia (FM) and the importance of sleep, particularly getting to the deep sleep stage. However, we did not discuss the various strategies that YOU can use to improve your quality of sleep. Let’s take a look!Establishing a consistent and better sleep pattern is essential in managing the complex symptoms associated with fibromyalgia (FM). By doing so, you may experience reductions in pain, fatigue, and “fibro fog.” Think of a flashlight. As the batteries wear down, the light becomes progressively dimmer and soon goes out. To recharge our batteries, we must sleep. According to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF), at least 40 million Americans suffer from over 70 different sleep disorders, and 60% of adults report having problems sleeping a few nights per week or more. Also, more than 40% of adults have daytime sleepiness that interferes with activities of daily living, and nearly 70% of children in a study reported they had problems sleeping at least one night a week. The “bottom line” is WE MUST SLEEP to be healthy! SLEEP STRATEGIES: 1) Sleep ONLY as much as you need to feel refreshed the next day. Limiting the time seems to improve sleep quality while excessive sleep leads to fragmented and shallow / poor quality sleep. 2) Keep a sleep diary and write down how you slept each night as well as any triggers that interfered with your sleep. Review the notes from time-to-time to remind you of strategies that worked in the past. 3) Keep a strict sleep schedule when possible. Get to bed, and more importantly, wake up at a regular time each morning. A regular arousal time strengthens our circadian cycle and leads to a more consistent time of sleep onset at night. 4) Use relaxation therapies such as gentle massage, deep breathing, meditation, yoga, and more, all of which can boost sleep quality. 5) Cut down on noise, particularly sudden loud noise (trains, planes, automobiles, etc.) by soundproofing the room or using a noise machine. Your sleep can be disturbed without you waking up or having memory of it in the morning. 6) Avoid long daytime naps as these interfere with nighttime sleep. 7) Keep the room temperature cool. 8) Hunger can be also disturb sleep, so a light snack of carbohydrates at night can help in this regard. 9) Avoid caffeine or alcohol in the evenings as both disturb sleep. 10) Consider herbs/vitamins/supplements such as 5-HTP, Melatonin, St. John’s Wart, SAM-e, L-Carnitine, Probiotics, and more. Remember, the goal is to get at least four hours of continuous sleep in order to reach the deep sleep stage. If this is not accomplished over time, the intensity of the FM symptoms can increase. The management of FM is best when approached from multiple directions: nutrition, exercise (especially aerobic), many of the 10 “tips” described above, and care rendered by a “team” of healthcare providers from disciplines such as chiropractic, massage therapy, and primary care. Because FM is complex with no single cause, a multi-directed treatment approach seems to work best. Remember, doctors of chiropractic focus on structure, exercise, nutrition, and whole-body health. They also work with other health professionals on a regular basis when managing the needs of their patients. If you, a friend or family member requires care for Fibromyalgia, we sincerely appreciate the trust and confidence shown by choosing our services! Where is it found Precursor, L-DOPA is synthesized in brain and kidneys Dopamine functions in several parts of the peripheral nervous system In blood vessels, it inhibits norepinephrine release and acts as a vasodilator (relaxation) In the pancreas, it reduces insulin production In the digestive system, it reduces gastrointestinal motility and protects intestinal mucosa In the immune system, it reduces lymphocyte activity. Symptoms of excess & insufficiency... Most antipsychotic drugs are dopamine antagonists Dopamine antagonist drugs are also some of the most effective anti-nausea agents Changes in dopamine levels may also cause age-related changes in cognitive flexibility. Symptoms of excess & insufficiency Insufficient dopamine... Nutritional building blocks Eating a diet high in magnesium and tyrosine rich foods will ensure you’ve got the basic building blocks needed for dopamine production. Medications Most common dopamine antagonists (positive symptoms) Risperdone, Haldol, Zyprexa Metoclopramide (Reglan) is an antiemetic and antipsychotic Dopamine Hypothesis Patients with schizophrenia do not typically show measurably increased levels of brain dopamine activity Other dissociative drugs, notably ketamine and phencyclidine that act on glutamate NMDA receptors (and not on dopamine receptors) can produce psychotic symptoms. Those drugs that do reduce dopamine activity are a very imperfect treatment for schizophrenia: they only reduce a subset of symptoms, while producing severe short-term and long-term side effects GABA Mechanism of action/purpose Anti-anxiety, Anti-convulsant GABA is made from glutamate GABA functions as an inhibitory neurotransmitter – Glutamate acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter GABA does the opposite and tells the adjoining cells not to “fire” Where they are found Close to 40% of the synapses in the human brain work with GABA and therefore have GABA receptors. Medications Drugs that act as allosteric modulators of GABA receptors (known as GABA analogues or GABAergic drugs) or increase the available amount of GABA typically have relaxing, anti-anxiety, and anti-convulsive effect Gabapentin (neurontin) is a GABA analogue used to treat epilepsy and neurotic pain. Benzodiazepines and Barbiturates including GHB, Valium, Xanax Serotonin Mechanism of action/purpose Helps regulate Mood Sleep patterns Appetite Pain Serotonin Serotonin Serotonin Insufficiency Depression Anxiety Pain sensitivity Acetylcholine Their mechanism of action/purpose In lower amounts, ACh can act like a stimulant by releasing norepinephrine (NE) and dopamine (DA). Memory Motivation Higher-order thought processes Sexual desire and activity Sleep Acetylcholine Symptoms of excess Depression (all symptoms) Nightmares Mental Fatigue Anxiety Inverse relationship between serotonin and acetylcholine Insufficiency Alzheimers/dementia Parkinsons Impaired cognition, attention, and arousal Cholinergic and GABAergic pathways are intimately connected in the hippocampus and basal forebrain complex. It is not always about increasing a neurotransmitter. Sometimes you need to decrease it. Human brains try to maintain homeostasis and too much or too little can be bad A balanced diet will provide the brain the necessary nutrients in synergystic combinations

Menopause And How To Treat Hot Flashes|Cure Menopause Symptoms With Dr Pam

02:51
Menopause And How To Treat Hot Flashes|Cure Menopause Symptoms With Dr Pam. hitp://drpam.com There are several ways to treat hot flashes. Some are prescription medications, some are over the counter medications, and some are just life-style changes. Every doctor is going to have you start with life-style changes first. What is that? Well, layering your clothing to start. Some women like to keep a little fan on their desk at work, or in their pocketbook – just a personal fan to cool them off. Some women like to put their head in a freezer for a minute of two. Sometimes at work, I’ll walk in and see my nurse putting her head in the freezer and I’ll ask her what she is looking for. She will say, “Nothing, I’m just cooling my head off.” That works very well. There are several medications that you can use. The standard therapy is estrogen replacement therapy. Women are pretty educated now to know that there is a risk of blood clots: blood clots that can travel to your lungs causing a pulmonary embolus, your head causing a stroke, or your heart causing a heart attack. There is also a definite association with breast cancer. There is a lot of women who can’t or won’t take that risk – and that’s OK. You have got to talk to your doctor about it. We want you on the lowest dose of estrogen for the shortest amount of time. For those women who can’t take estrogen, there are other medications. There is a new Swedish pollen extract called, Relizen. This is sold over the counter and has had clinical trials which show that it helps hot flashes. There are also some other medications that we use “off-label.” They are not made for hot flashes, but we have found, over time, that women who are on these medications get better. One of those medications is gabapentin, which is also called Neurontin®; another one is pre-gabapentin which is called Lyrica®, and Clonidine®, which is a blood pressure medication. Physicians for some time, have known that low-dose anti-depressants can also help with the hot flashes. Very recently, a new anti-depressant called, Brisdelle®, which is a low dose of Paxil® or paroxetine, has been approved by the FDA to treat hot flashes. Sometimes all of these medications are used alone or in combinations until we can get the hot flashes under control. You have to talk to your doctor about what is right for you.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain Treatment: Tramadol / Ultram

My experience using Tramadol for Rheumatoid Arthritis Pain. Although this medication works pretty well for me, one drawback that I forgot to mention is that it takes over an hour to kick in, and really two hours before it reaches its full effect. This is another reason I take it first thing in the morning. If I wake up much earlier than I plan to get up, I will take 100mg and go back to sleep. This way it is working by the time I get up. How to Treat Fibromyalgia | Living Pain Free With DR-HO'S®

03:56
How do you treat fibromyalgia? The good news is that with a little help and self-therapy, you can take steps towards feeling a lot better as a fibromyalgia sufferer. Fibromyalgia is not a disease, it is a dysfunction of the muscles, the soft tissue, and the nerves. Relaxing the nerves and increasing blood circulation can help significantly relieve pain. There are four important steps you can take in order to help relieve fibromyalgia symptoms. 1. Exercise When you are in pain it is hard to imagine exercising daily. However, doing regular daily stretching, yoga, swimming, or even walking more, can help your body to start feeling better. Stretching early in the morning and before bed can help encourage blood circulation and relax tightened muscles. Sitting stationary at your job, in your car, or even on the couch at home can make fibromyalgia pain worse. 2. Avoid Problematic Foods It is important to cut down on foods that contribute to inflammation. Reducing your intake of red meat, processed food, deep fried food, alcohol, and dairy products could significantly ease symptoms. You can however, increase the intake of healthy foods. Try to eat 2 large servings of slightly cooked green leafy vegetables, 2-3 servings of fruit, and a lot of water daily. 3. Use At-Home Therapy You should be able to relieve your pain before bed so that you are able to have a restful sleep. Use a TENS device in order to help promote muscle relaxation and pain relief. You can also seek out treatments such as a chiropractor, acupuncturist, physical therapist, or massage therapist. 4. Get a Proper Sleep Following the above three recommendations can also increase a restful sleep. Muscle tension is a large contributor to fibromyalgia pain. Sufferers also experience a tingling sensation in their legs due to increased sensitivity. Exercising during the day can encourage shut-eye, as well as a balanced digestive system from eating right, and finally a tension-free body after engaging in at-home treatments. Many people use medication such as pain-killers, anti-inflammatory drugs, and sleeping pills. It is important to follow the instructions of your doctor but also to recognize the ill side effects of many of these drugs. If you have excessive side-effects you should contact your doctor in order to make changes accordingly. Following these steps can help allow you to live better, sleep better, and live as a happier person. If you like this video and want to see more like this, subscribe to my channel! My Hidden Addiction + Withdrawal Grumpies

02:29:41
THE BEGINNING IS MUTED WHILE I WAS SETTING UP. In this video, I'm really grumpy and goofy for the whole thing. I was barely getting any work done because I was still going through some nasty withdrawal after quitting codeine. Oh by the way, I've had a horrible codeine addiction for years and I kept it a secret. So that's a thing, i guess. -- Watch live at https://www.twitch.tv/thunt_goblins

Sciatica SOS Review Get Rid Of Your Sciatica Pain In 7 Days Or Less Doctor Trusted!

00:53
Sciatica – Why You Have Been Treating It Wrong Get Help with Your Pain: http://memefic.com/l/sciatica-sos15 Read more about my story: https://sciaticasosreviewblog.wordpress.com http://memefic.com/l/sciatica-sos15 was what helped me out of Sciatica. I recommend it to everyone I talk to online. Sciatica Treatment Options One day I woke up the worst pain I've ever had in my left leg,it started at the groin and went right the way down the front of my leg in to my foot the shin area being the most painful. I couldn't sit down as even trying sitting down made it worse and I could only stand for short periods, yet if I tried to lay down flat it was a bit more bearable. My doctor says it was sciatica even though I hadn't had any X-rays she finally prescribed me naproxen and gabapentin. Gabapentin used to make me drowsy. The naproxen briefly helped me but moved the pain from my back to my feet. The gabapentin really made me drowsy and did little or nothing for the pain in my feet. It helped a little at night to give me a few hours sleep. My X-ray showed a disc problem, waiting for MRI scan, but got told it'd take 32 weeks. Doctor would not do anything until MRI scan was done. So catch22 situation. For me there was no position I have found that eases the pain. I thought that hopefully with time it would pass. I used to take 2 Naproxen 250mg a day, 1 omeprazole 20mg (this was to counter act possible ulcer causing from long term use of naproxen) and 3 gabapentin 300mg. Never taken so many pills in my life, and really and trully they did nothing for the pain. However, I found a product called "Sciatica SOS", which is an ebook containing information about curing sciatica and back pains. "Sciatica SOS" was written by Glen Johnson, who used to suffer from sciatica as well. After years of struggling with pain that was becoming increasingly worse – and trying every conventional treatment, such as pain medication and regular visits to a chiropractor – Glen realized it was time to try something new. That’s when he was introduced to a different way of treating sciatica by a family friend. The treatment, originally developed in Ancient Nepal, gave Glen almost instant pain relief. And within five days, his sciatica pain had disappeared completely. The book contains rich information about sciatica, why conventional treatments, drugs and chiropractors fail and detailed exercise plans for the lower body parts which I've read multiple times. This is link I have found that takes to http://memefic.com/l/sciatica-sos15. Performing the wrong exercise for the underlying cause of your sciatica could actually make your pain worse – and may increase the time taken for a full recovery. This is why you should be extremely careful when finding a sciatic exercise routine online. In fact, unless the program recommends different exercises for each cause of sciatica, you SHOULD avoid it. There are a number of effective treatments available. These include certain home remedies that combat the inflammation, specific movements that re- align the body and eliminate stresses on the nerve, therapy while you sleep and others. These treatments have helped thousands of people overcome their sciatic pain without expensive or dangerous therapies. Sciatica SOS will help you indentify the underlying reasons for your pain. Glen will guide you through the different treatments and will tell you exactly which to use depending on the underlying cause you discovered earlier. The process is laid out step-by-step, and is very easy to follow, requiring just a few minutes each day. You should notice dramatic improvement in your pain in the very first day, and your sciatica should be gone completely in 7 days or less. I suggest you try out http://memefic.com/l/sciatica-sos15. It changed my life and I no longer have sciatica.

Carbamazepine and Other Seizure Drugs

02:51
This parody of Frank Mills' "Music Box Dancer" describes the pharmacology of the seizure drugs carbamazepine, ethosuximide, phenobarbital, lamotrigine, and gabapentin. Lyrics are below. Note that water intox. stands for water intoxification, and toxic epi. necrolysis stands for toxic epidermal necrolysis. Element abbreviations (e.g. Na) stand for their corresponding ions. Lyrics: Carbamazepine is used for bipolar manic, Trigeminal neuralgia, seizures tonic-clonic, And partial seizures. It’s broken down by the liver. It blocks Na and makes its own breaking down faster. It induces the enzyme CYP 450. Its clearance is slowed when it valproic acid meets. It can cause osteomalacia, diplopia, Agranulocytosis, aplastic anemia, CNS depression, skin rash erythromatous, Ataxia, exfoliative dermatitis, Cleft lip and palate, spina bifida, anemia, Megoblastic, water intox., and hyponatremia. Ethosuximide T-type Ca channels obscures In thalamic neurons and is for absence seizures. Valproate slows its breakdown. It can cause dizziness, Parkinsonism, headache, and also GI distress, And lastly, bone marrow depression rare, but so bad. Phenobarbital blocks AMPAs, ups GABA effects, Opens chloride channels and GABA-A receptors, And sodium and calcium channels does hinder. It’s for simple partial seizures, pre-anesthesia, Tonic-clonic seizures, for the short-term insomnia, And for status epilepticus alternatively. You shouldn’t take it with a prophyria history. Phenobarbital can cause hyperactive children, Sedation in adults, and cognitive impairment, And ataxia. Taking it might become habit, As it is of the drugs known as the barbiturates. Lamotrigine’s used for partial and absence seizures, And maintenance treatment for bipolar disorder. It blocks Na channels and can cause bad skin rashes Like Stevens-Johnson and toxic epi. necrolysis. Gabapentin’s used for post-herpetic neuralgia, Neuropathic pain, and partial seizures. It can cause Side effects such as weight gain, sedation, dizziness, GI distress, and lastly odd-looking nystagmus.
