According to a collaborative study between the University of Texas Medical Center and UCSF Medical Center that was published in the Journal of the American Geriatric Society in June of 2014, people over the age of 65 who are treated with thiazide diuretics (such as HCTZ -- which is hydrochlorthiazide -- or Hygroton), are in danger of developing several metabolic defects. This study pointed out three metabolic defects that include hyponatremia (low sodium), hypokalemia (low potassium), and acute kidney injury where there was at least a 25% decrease in kidney function. Wow! And there's more that was not included in this article such as causing high cholesterol and uric acid (predisposes to gout), insulin resistance (predisposes to type 2 diabetes), and low magnesium! And this is the first drug of choice according to the major medical associations that set the guidelines for treating high blood pressure! Wow! It makes you wonder about the rest of the drugs used in managing this disease. Lifestyle remains the best treatment for managing hypertension. For more information, please visit www.doctorsaputo.com

Please watch: "Video Course for FINAL MEDICAL EXAMS!" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0oETfpRllA --~-- Where oh where do diuretics act in the nephron? A very common medical school and post graduate question, this VERY short video goes through all the major classes of diuretics and explains clearly WHERE and HOW they work to induce a diuretic effect. A key concept is understanding that when SODIUM stays INSIDE the nephron tubules (and is NOT reabsorbed back into the body) it carries water with it, which is excreted. Nearly all the diuretics work by this principle. Used widely in the community, hospitals and ICU, diuretics are an incredibly common medication - so you WILL be asked about them in nearly every specialty medical exam. Source: https://www.medindia.net/ For more information, Please visit: https://www.medindia.net/doctors/drug_information/furosemide.htm Furosemide is a loop diuretic works by helping the kidneys draw or excrete excess fluid or water and salt from the body. Furosemide is prescribed for treating edema or fluid accumulation in the body associated with the kidney disease including nephrotic syndrome, congestive heart failure, and liver cirrhosis. Furosemide is also used to treat high blood pressure. It is highly useful, particularly when a more diuretic potential is required. Furosemide is used as supportive therapy in treating acute pulmonary edema (fluid accumulation in the lungs). Potassium chloride supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics such as spironolactone or amiloride should be given to avoid the loss of potassium. Sleep would be disturbed if furosemide is taken at night and therefore should be avoided at night time. Please help us translate this video in your language to make it more universal and useful to your language community. We present useful and essential information on the drug furosemide that everyone should know when taking this drug. Use Medindia drug information to check drug to drug interactions if you are taking more than one drug. Share your comments if you are experiencing any unusual side effects.

Find out if water pills reduce swelling? Find out why they don't work for folks with excessive swelling, edema and lymphedema. Question: Do Water Pills Reduce Swelling? Answer: NO Diuretics dehydrate your body and this causes greater lymphatic congestion. To move your lymphatics you actually need more fluid - not less. It is common for individuals with Lymphedema, edema and excessive swelling to notice zero changes with a water pill/diuretic or even a worsening of their situation. Diuretic Action in The Kidney | Thiazide Diuretics | Diuretics In Hindi | Karma Ayurveda | | मूत्रवर्धक | Ayurvedic Medicines | Urine Infection Treatment | Diuretics Symptoms | Diuretics Effect | Thiazide | जानिए कौन सी बीमारी होती है मूत्रवर्धक (ड्यूरेटिक्स) #Diuretics are also called water pill and are medications designed specifically to increase the amount of water and salt expelled from the body as urine. There are three types of prescription diuretics. They’re often prescribed to help treat high blood pressure during kidney disease. Diuretics increase urine excretion of both water and electrolytes and are prescribed during #allopathic_treatment. In general, they restrain electrolyte re-absorption from the lumen of the nephrons, increasing and enhancing water excretion. There are mainly three types of diuretics named as thiazide, loop diuretics and potassium-sparing diuretics which are not only temporary effective but also have many side-effects. Some of the common side-effects of diuretics are: • Decrease the amount of potassium in the blood • Results in low sodium levels • Severe to mild headaches • Dizziness • Acute thirst • An elevated level of blood sugar • Muscle cramps and twitches • Problems like skin rash, gout, and diarrhoea • Increase in cholesterol Karma Ayurveda replaces this need for diuretics by providing Ayurvedic medicines which are harmless. These #Ayurvedic #medicines are made of #herbs such as Punarnava, Varun, Gokshur, Shirish, Shigeru, and Kaasni. These are very effective in reducing the kidney disease symptoms and have absolutely no side-effects of the body. Karma Ayurveda has a team of health counsellors and dieticians which are being headed by Dr. Puneet Dhawan who is one of the well-known Ayurveda physicians. They have treated an endless number of kidney and liver patients with their natural and herbal medicine course along a healthy diet regime. Furosemide (Lasix) - Loop Diuretics Generic Name: Furosemide Brand Name: Lasix Furosemide also known as Lasix is a loop diuretic commonly use to treat fluid retention and edema. Which can be associated with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), cirrhosis of the liver, and many kidney disorders. It is also sometimes use to treat hypertension alone or in combination with other anti-hypertensive drugs. Diuretics are medications that increases the amount of water that passes through the kidneys as urine, thus, it is often called water pill. Lasix belongs to the group known as Loop diuretics. There a few types of diuretics and loop diuretics are just one type. It works by interfering with the sodium, potassium and chloride symporter. A symporter is a protein membrane that manages the transport of molecules across a cell membrane. The symporter that lasix interacts with is found in the thick ascending limb of the loop of Henle. What it does is………. inhibits the reabsorption of salt (Na+) and Chloride (Cl-). Since the Salt and Chloride will be leaving the body system through the loop of henle this means that water will also follow…. causing more water pass through the kidney. Which will ultimately mean, less fluid remaining in the blood stream. Once Lasix is received the system will then compensate the loss by absorbing any fluid accumulated in the tissues, such as in the lungs or legs, back to the blood stream. This will cause more fluid to be in the blood stream. Which once again pass through the kidney, which will also be excreted in the urine, since the loop diuretic inhibits its reabsorption. This mechanism, is what makes loop diuretics a treatment for fluid retention also known as edema. It can therefore, ease symptoms of edema such as breathlessness caused by congestion of fluid in the lungs which patients diagnosed with CHF, cirrhosis of the liver, nephrotic syndrome and other edematous states may encounter. Lasix is available in forms that can be taken orally and intravenously. When taken intravenously, it is considered to be twice as strong. Parenteral or intravenous Furosemide is indicated when a fast acting and an intense diuresis is needed such as in acute pulmonary edema and cerebral edema. It also indicated when oral therapy is not possible because of problem with absorption in the intestine or for other reasons. Parenteral administration should be observed only in hospital or outpatient clinics. However, in cases of emergency that furosemide should be given right away outside hospital setting, recommended doses should be closely adhered to and patient must be closely monitored. Contraindication: Furosemide should not be taken if your patient cannot urinate. Severe Hypokalemia - is a major contraindication. This means low potassium. Lasix can cause a dramatic decrease in potassium level which could cause lethal cardiac arrhythmias Other contraindications include: Hypotension or low blood pressure Lasix should be used with extreme caution for patients who have a diagnosis of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus because it may May

Download Diabetes Diet eBook: https://goo.gl/UC5SZU We all get sick from time to time. We all have been given prescriptions other than our metformin or insulin. But did you know some medications can raise your blood sugar? I am confident that somewhere in that plethora of literature that accompanies most prescriptions is information that says that the drug will affect blood sugar. But how many of us actually read all that literature? Today I want to talk about common drugs that can raise your blood sugar. This list was compiled after researching the work of Mark T. Marino, MD. The list: Corticosteroids Thiazide diuretics Beta-blockers Niacin Antipsychotic drugs Striking a balance There is a longer list of drugs associated with diabetes, but the evidence for each of these is not very strong, or the medicine is only used rarely. For the more commonly used drugs that are known to worsen diabetes control, it is important to note that there remains a balance between intended benefits and unwanted side effects. Glucocorticoids can stop an inflammatory process like asthma, thiazide diuretics have been shown to be very successful at reducing high blood pressure and its complications, beta-blockers do protect against heart attacks, niacin does reduce coronary artery disease, and antipsychotic medicines can make the difference between hallucinating and perceiving reality. If you suspect that your blood glucose control may be adversely affected by a medicine you’re taking, speak with your health-care provider before making any changes. There may be an overall benefit to remaining on a drug that slightly increases blood glucose in some cases, or there may be alternatives that can be substituted. Unfortunately, no medicine is without its drawbacks, but by knowing what these drawbacks are, you can participate in an informed discussion with your health-care provider about the specific risks and benefits of a drug in your unique situation.

The Side Effects of Apple Cider Vinegar WHERE TO BUY APPLE CIDER VINEGAR: https://amzn.to/2MHjIOP "AMAZON AFFILIATE LINK" Apple Vinegar Side Effects #1: Weaken Tooth Enamel Highly acidic drinks like apple cider vinegar can weaken tooth enamel. To protect yourself, never drink vinegar straight. Dilute it with water to drink it. After you are finished, get a glass of fresh water and rinse your mouth out to remove the acid from your teeth. Do not brush your teeth until you have rinsed, as brushing while the vinegar is still on your teeth is more likely to damage the enamel. Apple Vinegar Side Effects #2: Burn Skin and Throat Vinegar has been known to irritate or even burn skin when used at full-strength. Also, one woman suffered permanent damage to her esophagus after getting an apple cider vinegar tablet stuck in her throat. To prevent this side effect, always dilute vinegar before drinking it or applying it to skin. Try to take liquid vinegar drinks instead of pills, and if you do take pills, take them with plenty of water. Apple Vinegar Side Effects #3: Lower Potassium and Bone Density A 1998 case report found that one patient who ingested large amounts of vinegar suffered from low blood potassium levels. As a result, she also suffered from low bone density and osteoporosis. You should stick to low doses of apple cider vinegar or avoid it altogether if you have osteoporosis or if you are taking medicines that could lower your blood potassium levels. Talk to your doctor if any of these circumstances apply to you! Apple Vinegar Side Effects #4: Interact with Drugs Vinegar may interact with certain drugs. Talk to your doctor before you start taking apple cider vinegar if you take any of the following medications: digoxin (a heart drug), diuretics like Lasix, prescription laxatives, or if you take insulin. Apple Vinegar Side Effects #5: Upset Stomach Many people use apple cider diluted in water as a tonic for an upset stomach. However, other people have reported apple cider vinegar side effects that include heartburn, diarrhea and indigestion. Possibly, different people react differently to vinegar based on their different body chemistries. Since vinegar is commonly used as a detox drink, some people may experience these apple cider vinegar side effects as part of the normal detox process. However, if these symptoms make you uncomfortable and do not subside over time, try reducing the dose or discontinuing use altogether. ▷SEND ME STUFF TO MY P. O. BOX Sweet Angel P. O. Type of medicine Aldosterone antagonist diuretic, potassium-sparing diuretic Used for Fluid retention Heart failure Primary hyperaldosteronism Also called Aldactone®, Lasilactone® (Aldactone with furosemide), Aldactide® (Aldactone with hydroflumethiazide) Available as Tablets Aldactone is used to treat fluid retention (oedema) caused by liver disease, kidney problems or heart failure. Oedema occurs when fluid leaks out of your blood vessels, causing swelling in the tissues of your lungs, feet or ankles. This makes you feel breathless or your legs feel puffy. Aldactone prevents a build-up of fluid in your body by increasing the amount of urine your kidneys produce. It is also used to treat some other conditions which cause fluid retention, such as a disorder called primary hyperaldosteronism. Aldactone is known as a potassium-sparing diuretic. Unlike some other diuretics, it does not cause your body to lose potassium. Diuretics are sometimes referred to as 'water tablets'. Aldactone is often used alongside other diuretics. When it is used like this, it may be prescribed as a combination product, such as in Lasilactone® (Aldactone with furosemide) and Aldactide® (Aldactone with hydroflumethiazide). Combinations like these help to reduce the number of tablets you need to take each day. Before taking Aldactone Some medicines are not suitable for people with certain conditions, and sometimes a medicine may only be used if extra care is taken. For these reasons, before you start taking Aldactone it is important that your doctor or pharmacist knows: If you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast-feeding. If you have kidney problems. If you have a problem with your adrenal glands, called Addison's disease. If you have a rare inherited blood disorder, called porphyria. If you are taking any other medicines. This includes any medicines you are taking which are available to buy without a prescription, as well as herbal and complementary medicines. If you have ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine. How to take Aldactone Before you start this treatment, read the manufacturer's printed information leaflet from inside your pack. The leaflet will give you more information about Aldactone and a full list of side-effects which you may experience from taking it. Take Aldactone exactly as your doctor has told you. The usual dose varies from 25 mg to 200 mg. Depending upon which dose is right for you, you may be asked to take several tablets a day but these are generally taken at the same time. Take the tablets with or just after a meal. Aldactone is commonly prescribed just once daily and you can generally take the dose at a time to suit you. However, diuretics are best taken no later than mid-afternoon. This is because you will find you may need to go to the toilet a couple of times after taking them and this could disturb your sleep if you take it late in the day. If you have been prescribed more than one tablet of Aldactone a day and told to take them at different times, make sure you take your last tablet no later than 6 pm. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is after 6 pm in the evening, skip the missed dose and continue as usual the next day. Do not take two doses at the same time to make up for a missed dose. Getting the most from your treatment If you are having an operation or dental treatment, tell the person carrying out the treatment which medicines you are taking. Can Aldactone cause problems? Along with their useful effects, most medicines can cause unwanted side-effects although not everyone experiences them. These usually improve as your body adjusts to the new medicine, but speak with your doctor or pharmacist if any of the following side-effects continue or become troublesome. Aldactone side-effects What can I do if I experience this? Feeling sick or being sick (vomiting) Stick to simple meals - avoid rich or spicy foods Feeling tired, dizzy, or sleepy If this happens, do not drive and do not use tools or machines until you feel better Sexual problems, breast discomfort and enlargement, feeling confused, irregular periods, confusion, sweating, cramps, hair loss or unwanted hair growth, and skin rash If any of these become troublesome, speak with your doctor If you experience any other symptoms which you think may be due to this medicine, speak with your doctor or pharmacist.
