Moving Vlog 2017 || Flatting in New Zealand

06:48
We moved from an insulated Auckland home with fibre internet, to a characterful little place with dial-up speeds. We are actually so excited! Join us on a quick first impressions tour of our new flat, and a little moving montage. We filmed this a while ago, but travelling and work has kept us very busy. We're planning a more in depth house tour in the future after we've done more decorating! Our flatmates are also very excited about our new flat, and moving in together is always an adventure :) | FOLLOW | Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/TwoCynics/ Twitter: https://twitter.com/TwoCynics ❤️ Zoë || 22 ❤️ Fan of chocolate cake and very specific shapes of pasta. Telling a Story: Destination Branding No Worries Lodge

00:28
Tourism branding and destination branding are two challenging areas of branding. Having branded several cities, award-winning brand identity specialist and Fast Company blogger David Brier was commissioned to do the branding for No Worries Lodge, a 7,000 square-foot Midwest luxury log cabin. Part of the trick was telling the story visually in an unexpected way. More information can be found at http://www.RisingAboveTheNoise.com

Extremely Rare iPhone: Cidco Proof of Concept 1997

01:35
https://iphonekindness.org/ What's this all about? It's about giving. We waited twenty years to do something great...and now is the time. The iPhoneKindness event is sponsored by ikindness.org, a non-profit focused on helping people and animals in their everyday struggles. Our goal: fund a portfolio of projects from the sale of the iPhone Time Capsule Collection and direct support from community members. This is a once in life time opportunity to be part of a selfless act on a global scale and take your place in iPhone history. The iPhone Story My name is Michael Birkhead (Hawaiian shirt guy above). I was twenty-something in the picture and lucky enough to be part of the development (and ultimate launch) of the original iPhone back in 1998 (yes, I'm that old). I lived the stereotypical Silicon Valley startup life for four years, complete with stock options, venture capitalists looking for the next big hit and nerf toys for kid-like employees. Long before the "Apple iPhone" stormed the world in 2007, two Silicon Valley companies quietly introduced the first iPhone in 1998. Originally envisioned by Chaim Bendelac, Yuval Shachar and Reuven Marko in 1995, the iPhone concept was ahead of its time as a skunk works project at National Semiconductor. Bob Ackerman, a technology visionary, saw the product in an NSD tech lab and quickly acquired the intellectual property Bob founded infoGear Technology in Redwood City, CA in 1995. Over the next five years, over $27,000,000 was invested into the little, 70-person startup. The history of the original iPhone started with the 1996 concept model and ended with the second-generation model in late 2000. The thin-client device connected to "ServerGear", a proxy server for content rendering since the iPhone only had 3 MB of memory, and sucked internet content through a dialup connection. The "internet appliance" boasted a 7.4 gray scale touchscreen, email and telephone functions. The product made it into a retail stores around the world and became the signature product for a multi-level marketing company in Provo, Utah (Big Planet). New Zealand (Dicks Electronics), South Africa (Radiospoor), United States (Compusa) and Australia placed early bets on iPhone network deployments. This meant installing servers across several networks to handle the millions of units expected to hit the market. The iPhone won innovation awards at CES and caught Cisco System's attention in 1999 with an investment and board seat. InfoGear was acquired for $301M in 2000. The first "Apple iPhone" was introduced to the world in 2007 with Steve Jobs proclaiming "the first iPhone's" availability. The Original iPhone collection is a time capsule of iPhone history and represents three generations of iPhones that existed prior to 2007: Cidco iPhone, infoGear iPhone and the iPad. The collection includes: 1 Proof of Concept iPhones (serial 001) - 1996 1 White Cidco clay model - 1997 1 Black demo model - 1997 1 White Cidco iPhone - 1998 1 White InfoGear iPhone (foam model) - 1999 1 White InfoGear iPhone - 1999 1 Black InfoGear iPhone - 1999 1 Translucent InfoGear iPhone - 1999 1 Cisco Web Pad - 2000 2 Custom carrying cases and adapters Our Plan Catalyze the iPhone's 20-year anniversary and give people an opportunity to come together in a global act of kindness. The plan is to give the global community an opportunity to "co-own" the iPhone collection and seed a portfolio of projects through the sale of the Original iPhone Collection. To my friends, old and new, and my colleagues, please join me in helping people and animals. For the cost of an iTune song, you can watch how your $1.29 investment impacts lives through videos, online meetings and podcasts. Your name will be included in an electronic design of names with millions of other people who share the same spirit of giving, and placed in a museum with the collection for public viewing. This creates a legacy for future generations to enjoy as part of the history of the iPhone. More importantly, you'll help take a dent out of the universe and restore faith in humanity. From Terrestrial Field Science to Deep-Space Human Exploration | Talks at Google

51:39
Delays, for better or worse, are a part of life. We all cope with them as best we can, trying to minimize their impact on our well-being and productivity. But what if you are an astronaut, 45 million kilometers from Earth, conducting science on an asteroid, and your communications link to Earth includes a 50-second one-way delay that you must always contend with? To help answer this question, the Pavilion Lake Research Project (PLRP) and other NASA "analog missions" are exploring how to perform field science with time-delayed communications. These studies are helping NASA to assess the impact of such delays on scientific productivity, mission operations and software systems. The PLRP field program involves a mix of single-person "DeepWorker" submersibles, SCUBA divers, Autonomous Underwater Vehicles, and Remotely Operated Vehicles, which are used to gather science data and to test exploration concepts for coping with communication delays. Dr. Darlene Lim is a geobiologist and an expert in the development of concepts for human scientific exploration. She has spent over two decades leading field research around the world, including the Arctic, the Antarctic, and various underwater environments (where she has spent many hours piloting submersibles as a scientist and explorer). Darlene is also Founder of the Haven House Family Shelter "STEM Explorers' Speakers Series", which brings NASA and academic researchers to homeless children in the Bay Area.

Project Loon : Now Google launches BALLOONS in bid to bring internet to the remotest places on Earth

10:07
Google has launched 30 balloons into the stratosphere from New Zealand as it experiments with ways to bring affordable internet access to the world. Nicknamed Project Loon, the internet giant is sending the superpressure balloons 12 miles up into the air, where they will sail around the globe at twice the altitude of aeroplanes. The helium-filled balloons inflate to 49ft in diameter and carry transmitters that could beam 3G-speed internet to some of the 4.8billion people in the world that are not yet online, supplying an area of about 780 square miles - twice the size of New York City. Project Loon was developed in the company's X Lab by the same team behind Google Glasses and the driverless car. It is hoped it could save developing countries the high cost of laying fibre cables to get online and lead to a dramatic increase in internet access for the likes of Africa and south-east Asia. Loon could even provide emergency back-up for areas during natural disasters. This week the balloons, made from a thin polyethylene film, were released from a frozen field near Lake Tekapo on New Zealand's South Island, where they sailed past the magnificent Southern Alps mountains on their ascent. 'It's pretty hard to get the internet to lots of parts of the world,' Richard DeVaul, chief technical architect at Google, told the BBC. 'Just because in principle you could take a satellite phone to sub-Saharan Africa and get a connection there, it doesn't mean the people have a cost-effective way of getting online. 'The idea behind Loon was that it might be easier to tie the world together by using what it has in common - the skies - than the process of laying fibre and trying to put up cellphone infrastructure.' Fifty volunteer residents signed up to be a tester for a project that was so secret no-one would tell them what it was for. Technicians came to the volunteers' homes and attached bright red receivers the size of basketballs that look like giant Google map pins - which every building would need to receive the signal. Charles Nimmo, a farmer and entrepreneur in the small town of Leeston, was the first tester to get online from the airborne balloons. Mr Nimmo was able to spend about 15 minutes surfing the web before the balloon transmitting the signal sailed past. His first stop was to check out the weather. He wanted to find out if it was an optimal time for 'crutching' his sheep, the term for trimming away the wool around a sheep's bottom. Mr Nimmo is among the many people living in rural areas, even in developed countries, who cannot get broadband access. After ditching his dial-up service four years ago in favour of satellite internet, he found himself stuck with hefty bills. 'It's been weird,' he said of the Google Balloon Internet experience. 'But it's been exciting to be part of something new.' Project leader Mike Cassidy said: 'It's a huge moonshot. A really big goal to go after. The power of the internet is probably one of the most transformative technologies of our time.' People have used balloons for communication, transportation and entertainment for centuries. In recent years, the military and aeronautical researchers have used tethered balloons to beam internet signals back to bases on Earth. Google's balloons fly free and out of sight, scavenging power from card table-sized solar panels that dangle below and gather enough charge in four hours to power them for a day as the balloons sail around the globe on the prevailing winds. Far below, ground stations with internet capabilities about 60 miles (100km) apart bounce signals up to the balloons. The signals would hop forward, from one balloon to the next, along a backbone of up to five balloons. Before heading to New Zealand, Google spent a few months secretly launching between two and five flights a week in California's central valley. 'We were chasing balloons around from trucks on the ground,' said Mr DeVaul. 'People were calling in reports about UFOs.' Alternator DEMO Wiring, connection to Battery, Capacitors, Inverter, Modification

10:05
DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME.....This video is just for entertainment and educational purposes. Alternator demo using a Delco CS alternator, this alt has a built in regulator and has a output voltage 14.5v to15v, 75 -105 amp. The induction motor is powered from home 120v ac current I'm only using the motor because it much easier to talk over and explain things unlike with a loud gasoline engine running. In this video I'm showing some the wiring and hooking up to battery also capacitors. I have done a small mod to the alt so you can use it with or without the built in regulator, with this mod you can us it to run power tools with universal motors also arc weld, and run the alt self energized. You would be hooking this alternator to an engine, of course you can just buy a generator which puts out much more wattage. This is not practical generator please buy a generator, let myself and the others gear heads build this crap.

Futuristic Cyber Communication INC - Training & Business Development Video 6 Work Shop on "Understanding eMarketing" 1. What is eMarketing... 2. How to advertising on face book works. 3. Getting Started with Search Engine Optimization. 4. Are Events A Good Marketing Stategy... 5. Are You Achieving Your Online Goals 6. What is Affiliate Marketing. 7. Strategic Alliances Making Friends 8. How to be innovative with your Marketing Internet marketing, also referred to as i-marketing, web-marketing, online-marketing, Search Engine Marketing (SEM) or e-Marketing, is the marketing of products or services over the Internet.: Business models: Internet marketing is associated with several business models: * e-commerce — this is where goods are sold directly to consumers (B2C) or businesses (B2B) * Publishing — this is the sale of advertising * lead-based websites — this is an organization that generates value by acquiring sales leads from its website * affiliate marketing — this is the process in which a product or service developed by one person is sold by other active sellers for a share of profits. The owner of the product normally provide some marketing material (sales letter, affiliate link, tracking facility). * local internet marketing - this is the process of a locally based company traditionally selling belly to belly and utilizing the Internet to find and nurture relationships, later to take those relationships offline. * blackhat marketing - this is a form of internet marketing which employs deceptive, abusive, or less than truthful methods to drive web traffic to a website or affiliate marketing offer. This method sometimes includes spam, cloaking within search engine result pages, or routing users to pages they didn't initially request. There are many other business models based on the specific needs of each person or the business that launches an Internet marketing campaign. Advantages: Internet marketing is relatively inexpensive when compared to the ratio of cost against the reach of the target audience. Companies can reach a wide audience for a small fraction of traditional advertising budgets. The nature of the medium allows consumers to research and purchase products and services at their own convenience. Therefore, businesses have the advantage of appealing to consumers in a medium that can bring results quickly. The strategy and overall effectiveness of marketing campaigns depend on business goals and cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis. Limitations: Internet marketing requires customers to use newer technologies rather than traditional media. Low-speed Internet connections are another barrier. If companies build large or overly-complicated websites, individuals connected to the Internet via dial-up connections or mobile devices experience significant delays in content delivery. Security concerns: Information security is important both to companies and consumers that participate in online business. Many consumers are hesitant to purchase items over the Internet because they do not trust that their personal information will remain private. Recently some companies that do business online have been caught giving away or selling information about their customers. Several of these companies provide guarantees on their websites, claiming that customer information will remain private. Some companies that purchase customer information offer the option for individuals to have their information removed from the database, also known as opting out. However, many customers are unaware if and when their information is being shared, and are unable to stop the transfer of their information between companies if such activity occurs. Broadband-induced trends: Online advertising techniques have been dramatically affected by technological advancements in the telecommunications industry. In fact, many firms are embracing a new paradigm that is shifting the focus of online advertising from simple text ads to rich multimedia experiences. As a result, advertisers can more effectively engage in and manage online branding campaigns, which seek to shape consumer attitudes and feelings towards specific products. The critical technological development fueling this paradigm shift is Broadband. Effects on industries: The number of banks offering the ability to perform banking tasks over the internet has also increased. Online banking appeals to customers because it is often faster and considered more convenient than visiting bank branches. Currently over 150 million U.S. adults now bank online, with increasing Internet connection speed being the primary reason for fast growth in the online banking industry.[citation needed] Of those individuals who use the Internet, 44 percent now perform banking activities over the Internet.[citation needed].

Jeffery Gettleman: "Love, Africa: A Memoir of Romance, War and Survival" | Talks at Google

58:49
Jeffrey Gettleman is the East Africa bureau chief for The New York Times. He won the Pulitzer Prize for international reporting for his work from Africa. He has covered warlords and pirates, rebels and elephant poachers. He’s traveled across the continent several times, using just about every mode of conveyance from donkey cart and dugout canoe to a battered tandem bike. A surprisingly candid story for a well-known journalist to write, LOVE, AFRICA tracks across Iraq, Afghanistan, the murderous swamps of Florida, through the savannahs, deserts and rainforests of Africa and into emotionally treacherous terrain that leads to the deepest recesses of the human heart. Gettleman captures life’s extreme highs and lows, being terrified, facing off with the wrong people at the wrong time, and making devastating choices that hurt people he loved. Spanning 25 years and much of the world, this memoir ends in an instant of magical beauty, a moment that Gettleman concludes wouldn’t have been possible without ``a thousand accidents, some pretty dumb mistakes, and not a few deaths.’’ Get the book here: https://goo.gl/QW5kBs

If you want to know more about available support to help you grow your business online, most business support services are delivered locally, so in the first instance contact your local County Council's Economic Development Unit. If you are an agricultural, horticulture or farming business, Defra has a scheme providing subsidised training for up to 90,000 rural business people. This training covers a range of business and management skills, including IT. For more information about the scheme go to: http://rdpenetwork.defra.gov.uk/funding-sources/skills-and-training/training-and-skills-potential-applicants Broadband is being rolled out across rural areas over the next few years. To find out when broadband is coming to you, check this google map, which provides details of each county's broadband unit. Each county is different, so the broadband team may not have all the information on support you seek, but they should be able to direct you to a helpful local source: https://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msid=202405357373084260711.0004c0a24c8574593fb79&msa=0&ll=54.033586,-1.801758&spn=7.36024,14.0625 Finally, you can also try the Government's 'Business in You' website. This is a site dedicated to offering advice on a range of issues for small businesses and start-ups: http://businessinyou.bis.gov.uk/advice/ Media and business organisations are encouraged to embed this video in their own websites, as a service to your local business community. In this film rural small businesses who've grown their business online share their experiences, insights and successes -- and encourage other small businesses to go online. Megaupload taken down by the government New website gonna be up!!

00:31
WELLINGTON, New Zealand — New Zealand police raided several homes and businesses linked to the founder of Megaupload.com, a giant Internet file-sharing site shut down by U.S. authorities, on Friday and seized guns, millions of dollars, and nearly $5 million in luxury cars, officials said. Police arrested founder Kim Dotcom and three Megaupload employees on U.S. accusations that they facilitated millions of illegal downloads of films, music and other content costing copyright holders at least $500 million in lost revenue. Extradition proceedings against them could last a year or more. With 150 million registered users, about 50 million hits daily and endorsements from music superstars, Megaupload.com was among the world's biggest file-sharing sites. According to a U.S. indictment, the site, which was shut down Thursday, earned Dotcom $42 million in 2010 alone. Although the company is based in Hong Kong and Dotcom lives in New Zealand, some of the alleged pirated content was hosted on leased servers in Virginia, and that was enough for U.S. prosecutors to act. New Zealand police served 10 search warrants at several businesses and homes around the city of Auckland. Police spokesman Grant Ogilvie said the seized cars include a Rolls Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe worth more than $400,000 as well as several Mercedes. Two short-barreled shotguns and a number of valuable artworks were also confiscated, he added. He said police seized more than $8 million, money that was invested in various New Zealand financial institutions and which has now been placed in a trust pending the outcome of the cases. New Zealand's Fairfax Media reported that the four defendants stood together in an Auckland courtroom in the first step of the extradition proceedings. Dotcom's lawyer raised objections to a media request to take photographs and video, but then Dotcom spoke out from the dock, saying he didn't mind photos or video "because we have nothing to hide." The judge granted the media access, and ruled that the four would remain in custody until a second hearing Monday. Dotcom, Megaupload's former CEO and current chief innovation officer, is a resident of Hong Kong and New Zealand and a dual citizen of Finland and Germany who had his name legally changed. The 37-year-old was previously known as Kim Schmitz and Kim Tim Jim Vestor. Two other German citizens and one Dutch citizen also were arrested and three other defendants -- another German, a Slovakian and an Estonian -- remain at large. Megaupload has retained Washington power attorney Bob Bennett to defend it, according to a person inside the company. Bennett is best known for representing former President Bill Clinton during the Monica Lewinsky scandal. The person within Megaupload spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the company's plans. The Electronic Frontier Foundation, which defends free speech and digital rights online, said in a statement that the arrests set "a terrifying precedent. If the United States can seize a Dutch citizen in New Zealand over a copyright claim, what is next? The indictment was unsealed one day after websites including Wikipedia and Craigslist shut down in protest of two congressional proposals intended to make it easier for authorities to go after sites with pirated material, especially those with overseas headquarters and servers. Before Megaupload was taken down, the company posted a statement saying allegations that it facilitated massive breaches of copyright laws were "grotesquely overblown. The fact is that the vast majority of Mega's Internet traffic is legitimate, and we are here to stay. If the content industry would like to take advantage of our popularity, we are happy to enter into a dialogue. We have some good ideas. Please get in touch," the statement said. Several sister sites were also shut down, including one dedicated to sharing pornography files. News of the shutdown seemed to bring retaliation from hackers who claimed credit for attacking the Justice Department's website. Federal officials confirmed it was down for hours Thursday evening and that the disruption was being "treated as a malicious act." A loose affiliation of hackers known as "Anonymous" claimed credit for the attack. Also hacked was the site for the Motion Picture Association of America, which has campaigned for a crackdown on piracy. According to the indictment, Megaupload was estimated at one point to be the 13th most frequently visited website on the Internet. Current estimates by companies that monitor Web traffic place it in the top 100. Megaupload is considered a "cyberlocker," in which users can upload and transfer files that are too large to send by email. Such sites can have perfectly legitimate uses. But the Motion Picture Association of America estimated that the vast majority of content being shared on Megaupload was in violation of copyright laws.

Rural Broadband: Making The Connections

22:34
For more information about Pioneer Public TV, including how you can become a member, go to ‪http://www.pioneer.org‬. Additional Pioneer productions can also be viewed online at ‪http://video.pioneer.org‬. While many internet providers claim to give access to broadband, a lack of definition to the term leaves many Americans wondering if they are receiving the best service. Specifically in our rural communities, like those in midwest Minnesota, companies providing "high-speed" internet may only be getting users a moderately-fast download speed, while upload speeds are severely lacking. This becomes a problem when companies--like Nephropath in Montevideo, Minn.--need to communicate and send medical billing reports to their home office in Arkansas. And while dial-up may be ancient history for many internet users in the country, some of these areas are only now able to upgrade to faster DSL connections.

iPhone Proof of Concept 1995 (Very Rare)

01:35
National Semiconductor iPhone #1 https://ikindness.org/ What's this all about? It's about giving. We waited twenty years to do something great...and now is the time. The iPhoneKindness event is sponsored by ikindness.org, a not for profit focused on helping people and animals in their everyday struggles.
