Alcohol and High Blood Pressure - Effects, Treatment, Management What is High Blood Pressure? http://alcoholmastery.com/alcohol-and-high-blood-pressure-effects-treatment-management/ High blood pressure has many causes, this post is primarily concerned with the relationship between alcohol and high blood pressure. Blood Pressure is the measurement of the pressure of the blood against the walls of your blood vessels. A BP monitor calculates the force of the blood from both the beating heart and the resting heart. Alcohol can cause high blood pressure (HBP) while you’re drinking, and long term heavy drinking can cause chronic high blood pressure. HBP can lead to a heart attack or heart failure, stroke, and kidney failure. Dr Brian Silver of Henry Ford Hospital, Detroit, says "Somehow the binge drinking compounds [HPB] -- and more than just a little bit." Men with really HBP are at even greater risk. 6 or more drinks consumed in one sitting can quadruple the risk of having a heart attack or stroke. Dr Silver, who is also a spokesman for the American Heart Association, says “There have been studies that alcohol [consumption] can increase blood pressure 15 to 20 points. And if you start off hypertensive, raising your blood pressure 15 or 20 points probably does as much as double your risk of stroke, so this certainly fits with things we already know." What are the Symptoms of High Blood Pressure? There are really no symptoms of high blood pressure, other than it registering on a blood pressure monitor. So it is vitally important that you know this reading. High blood pressure can cause aneurysms, narrowing of the blood vessels and arteries, kidney failure, stroke, heart attack, blindness, and amputations. Treatment for High Blood Pressure The best way of controlling your blood pressure is to live a healthy life. Here’s 7 ways that you can lower your blood pressure and keep it down. Reduce alcohol intake Lose weight Exercise regularly Eat a healthy diet Reduce salt intake Reduce caffeine Stop smoking The more of these you choose to implement in your life, the better your blood pressure will be, and you’ll get the other benefits that come with a healthy lifestyle. There are also medications that can be prescribed in emergencies. Outlook The outlook for this condition depends on how much personal responsibility you take. If you go all out to change what you’re putting into your body, eliminate all the drinking and smoking, all the crappy foods and food additives, the outlook for a long and healthy life is very positive. You need to have a regular check up or get yourself a Bp Monitor to give yourself a ballpark figure. If you drink, or smoke, or eat shit foods, you can be sure it's not doing your blood pressure any good. Alcohol and high blood pressure is just another risk you're taking with heavy drinking. I was recently prescribed Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I had a terrible side effect with a bad dry cough. The cough was 24/7. It can persist for weeks even if you stop taking Lisinopril. Stay away from this medicine if possible and ask your doctor for an alternative.

Learn important information on Lisinopril at http://www.lisinopril.us/ Lisinopril is a medication that is generally used for high blood pressure and congestive heart failure. It can also be prescribed after a heart attack. It comes from a group of drugs called ace inhibitors. It is usually taken once a day and can be taken with or without food. If you are using this medication you should keep a daily log of your blood pressure. Take this to your doctor, so they can review this information and adjust your medication accordingly. If you are just beginning to use this medication, be careful when you wake up in the morning. Don't get up out of bed to quickly, you may find yourself getting dizzy and could faint. Get up slowly and in steps, this will allow your body to adjust. The main side effect of this medication is dizziness. This is caused by hypotension, which means that your blood pressure is too low. If you find yourself becoming dizzy, contact your doctor so they can adjust your medication. You could experience nausea, vomiting and even diarrhea, when you begin using lisinopril. These symptoms are not uncommon, as your body adjusts to the new medication. If they persist, you should contact your physician. Some of the potential side effects of this medication are an increase in potassium. Supplements that have potassium in them should be avoided, unless recommended by your doctor. If your potassium levels become too high, it can cause arrhythmia. Read the labels of all the foods that you eat and look for potassium. For example, some salt substitutes use potassium and that could be problematic. If you are taking this medication and you become pregnant, you should switch to another blood pressure medication immediately. The use of this medication in the second or third trimester can damage or kill your unborn child. See your doctor and have them find a new medication for your high blood pressure. A rare, but serious side effect of this mediation is angioedema. This reaction can happen at any time, even after years of successfully taking lisinopril. You can recognize this reaction by a buildup of fluid in your face, throat and lips. It could be life threatening. If this should happen, call 911 or immediately go to an emergency room. This reaction is quite rare; however anyone using this medication should be aware of this reaction, in case it should happen to them. This information is purely for educational purposes only. Do not make any changes to your medication without consulting your physician. For more information on lisinopril, go to www.lisinopril.us http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpICMP9ps9g

However, blood pressure drugs can and should be used if your blood pressure is dangerously high. Unfortunately, as I’m sure you already know, blood pressure drugs cause lots of negative side-effects, such as Depression and anxiety. Impotence Fatigue Kidney and liver failure Anemia Colon problems Negative changes in your blood sugar levels Skin problems and hair loss 4 different types of blood pressure drugs and natural alternatives to them. 1. ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme) Inhibitors These suppress a powerful enzyme that causes arterial walls to constrict and cause high blood pressure. This keeps arterial walls relaxed, reducing blood pressure and decreasing the work that the heart has to do. Natural alternatives are French Maritime Bark Extract and one of my favorites, Celery Seed Extract at 300 mgs daily, which has multiple clinical studies backing it up.1,2 2. Beta Blockers These work by blocking the beta limb of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which is responsible for raising alertness, heart rate, and blood pressure in flight-or-fight situations. Beta blockers blunt this physiological response to stress, reducing high blood pressure. There are two, natural solutions that are clinically proven to lower blood pressure and work similarly to beta blockers. The first is an amino acid called L-Arginine. A more potent version being Arginine Alpha Keto-Glutarate (AAKG). The second is an amazing herb called English Hawthorn Berry Extract, which has over half a dozen human clinical studies proving blood pressure lowering results at 900 mgs daily.3-10 3. Calcium-Channel Blockers Similar to beta blockers, they improve blood flow and vascular tone through narrowed vessels. Some calcium-channel blockers reduce blood pressure by encouraging smooth-muscle relaxation in the inner lining of your blood vessels—preventing spasms and helping them dilate. One of the most important vitamins you should be taking daily, is Magnesium. One of its benefits is that it works as a calcium-channel blocker. However, there are lots of different forms of magnesium and each has its various benefits, depending on your health goals. When it comes to lowering blood pressure, a patented blend of Magnesium Glycinate Chelate, Albion® Di-Magnesium Malate, Magnesium Citrate and Magnesium Oxide which is highly absorbable and has been clinically shown to lower blood pressure.10-13 4. Diuretics These drugs reduce edema and water retention in your body and lungs, by increasing urine output and the end results is lower blood pressure. You need to eliminate or reduce regular table salt and use natural salts such as Himalayan and Celtic. ======================================== Thank you for watching. Antihypertensives are a class of drugs that are used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure).Antihypertensive therapy seeks to prevent the complications of high blood pressure, such as stroke and myocardial infarction. Evidence suggests that reduction of the blood pressure by 5 mmHg can decrease the risk of stroke by 34%, of ischaemic heart disease by 21%, and reduce the likelihood of dementia, heart failure, and mortality from cardiovascular disease. There are many classes of antihypertensives, which lower blood pressure by different means. Among the most important and most widely used drugs are thiazide diuretics, calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors, angiotensin II receptor antagonists (ARBs), and beta blockers. Which type of medication to use initially for hypertension has been the subject of several large studies and resulting national guidelines. The fundamental goal of treatment should be the prevention of the important endpoints of hypertension, such as heart attack, stroke and heart failure. Patient age, associated clinical conditions and end-organ damage also play a part in determining dosage and type of medication administered. The several classes of antihypertensives differ in side effect profiles, ability to prevent endpoints, and cost. The choice of more expensive agents, where cheaper ones would be equally effective, may have negative impacts on national healthcare budgets. As of 2009, the best available evidence favors the thiazide diuretics as the first-line treatment of choice for high blood pressure when drugs are necessary. Although clinical evidence shows calcium channel blockers and thiazide-type diuretics are preferred first-line treatments for most people (from both efficacy and cost points of view), an ACE inhibitor is recommended by NICE in the UK for those under 55 years old.

Can Metoprolol Be Given To Treat Hypertension In A Diabetic Patient? There is one organ which causes high blood pressure (and it's not what you think!) and there are specific exercises you can use to target and fix your blood pressure easily. No diet, lifestyle changes or medication required: http://hibloodpressure.stream/ Answers from: Reshma Prasad Metoprolol, being a beta blocker, is preferably avoided in a diabetic patient, to avoid masking of symptoms of hypoglycemia. The new JNC 8 guidelines on hypertension also suggests use of other antihypertensives such as thiazide like diuretics, which are found to be more effective in reducing BP and use beta blockers only as an add on basis. Considering diabetes, ACE inhibitors or ARBs would also be a preferred antihypertensive drug provided there is no Chronic Kidney Disease already.
