Second Grade Demonstration Teacher, Patricia Mondragon, opens her school year defining clear expectations, procedures, and rules with her students during the first week of school. She demonstrates how investing time during the first week to model, teach, and practice with students will ultimately save valuable instruction time throughout the rest of the year through the establishment of a positive behavior environment. This video was dreamed up, scripted, and acted out by some of my amazing 8th grade students from Kalispell Middle School. The vision was to create a thought provoking short film that instills a challenge to the viewer to look at their own life, their own relationships, and their own sphere of influence, and see where a little empathy could help change the world around them. In working in a middle school for the past 5 years, I've seen the power that a single act of empathy can have on a hurting student, and hope that this message will inspire viewers, just as my own students have inspired me in creating this. Please share in our vision for a more empathetic world. Song: Say Something Instrumental, A Great New World

Survey responses indicate that Catholic homeschoolers want a four-year high school program that can be made to fit the student, not one in which the student is made to fit the program. One would not order from a stranger a box of generic clothing and have any hopes that the garments would fit the recipient, or be appropriate for the local climate. Similarly, a course of study designed to "fit all" often fits none. One can expect a happier educational outcome with the High School of Your Dreams, since those selecting courses, materials, and approaches enjoy a close familiarity with the student!

Mary Lanovy-Taylor is a teaching and learning consultant for Education Bradford. She specialises in behaviour and attendance at Key Stage 3, advising teachers across the city on good practice in behaviour management. Mary works with Paddy Ryan, a newly qualified teacher at St Bede's Roman Catholic High School for Boys. Formerly a police officer, Paddy now teaches information technology and he's discovering that the strategies he employed in the police force are not always transferable to the classroom. After Mary's initial lesson observation, it becomes clear that the main problem Paddy has to contend with in his classroom, apart from its awkward shape, is constant low-level disruption. Mary makes practical suggestions to help with motivating pupils, getting their attention and the use of praise and rewards. But when Paddy tries out his new approach, not everything goes according to plan. Will he succeed in turning his class around?

In which John Green examines the French Revolution, and gets into how and why it differed from the American Revolution. Was it the serial authoritarian regimes? The guillotine? The Reign of Terror? All of this and more contributed to the French Revolution not being quite as revolutionary as it could have been. France endured multiple constitutions, the heads of heads of state literally rolled, and then they ended up with a megalomaniacal little emperor by the name of Napoleon. But how did all of this change the world, and how did it lead to other, more successful revolutions around the world? Watch this video and find out.
