You will not only find a step by step demonstration of how to create a simple, scalable roadmap graphic from scratch but also see some useful applications of the graphic in business presentations. Let us first go to Auto shapes menu and select 'Trapezoid' tool from 'Basic shapes'. Draw the Trapezium shape on the slide and remove outline. Color this shape black and our basic road is ready. To make the road even more attractive let us draw a divider along the middle. For this, use trapezoid shape once again. Adjust the yellow handle along the top edge of the shape, so that the top portion of the trapezium is much narrower than the bottom portion. Color the divider white and remove outline. To divide this divider into small segments let us use small rectangle tool under 'Rectangles' option in auto shapes menu. Draw these rectangles across the divider. Let the width of the rectangles get progressively wider as you approach the foreground to make the graphic look realistic. Once done, remove the outline and color the rectangles black to allow them to merge with the background. Now, when you write relevant text to mark the years your roadmap graphic in PowerPoint gets ready. In this video tutorial you can see a number of applications of Roadmap in PowerPoint. The diagram templates showcased in the tutorial are taken from our 'PowerPoint Charts and Diagram Templates Packs for CEOs'. Learn how to make Use Case Diagrams in this tutorial. Both beginners and intermediate UML diagrammers will find all the necessary training and examples on systems, actors, use cases, and include and extend relationships. UML Use Case Diagrams show a system or application; then they show the people, organizations, or other systems that interact with it; and finally, they show a basic flow of what the system or application does. This tutorial explains the four main characteristics of Use Case Diagrams: systems, actors, use cases, and relationships. A system is whatever you’re developing. It could be a website, a software component, a business process, an app, or any number of other things. You represent a system with a rectangle. The next aspect of Use Case Diagrams are actors. An actor is going to be someone or something that uses our system to achieve a goal, and they're represented by a stick figure. Use Cases are elements that really start to describe what the system does. They're depicted with an oval shape and they represent an action that accomplishes some sort of task within the system. The final element in Use Case Diagrams are relationships, which show how actors and use cases interact with each other. There are different types of relationships (like association, include, extend, and generalization) that are represented by varying types of lines and arrows. —— Learn more and sign up: http://www.lucidchart.com Follow us: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lucidchart Twitter: https://twitter.com/lucidchart Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lucidchart LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/lucidsoftware

In this section we’re going to look at summary tasks and outlining and I’m going to use the wedding project and demonstrate how we can build up the level of detail and the structure of this project. Now I mentioned a couple of times already that the tasks that I currently have in the project, planning, attire, guests, etcetera, are actually high level tasks. They really represent groups of tasks. And what we’re going to start to do now is to break each of those high level tasks, what we’re going to call summary tasks, down into individual tasks or subtasks. By the end of this section we’ll have a much more detailed project. But to get us started I want to look at one particular summary task. Before I really get started I want to point out two things. First of all, if you were doing a breakdown of the tasks involved in a wedding project, particularly if you’re doing it from scratch, you would almost certainly come up with a different breakdown to me. And in fact just about everybody who tries to do this comes out with a different breakdown. So there isn’t a sort of right answer here. It’s important that all of the necessary tasks in the project are represented ultimately in the project plan. But the way you do this breakdown will be a very subjective way indeed. And the second thing to point out is although I’m going to add quite a bit of detail to this wedding project plan I could add a lot more. We’re going to finish up with something of the order of somewhere between say 50 and 100 tasks in total. But if you really were doing this very, very thoroughly there would probably be hundreds and hundreds of tasks. So the task I’m going to breakdown is the Guests task. Now if I select the task underneath it, Venue, and right click on Venue and click on Insert Task I get a new task above Venue and that is actually going to be one of my guests subtasks. It gets a default name. Note new task there between chevron markers. And then default values for duration, etcetera. Now what I’m going to put as the name of that task, I just click in the Entry Bar and type the name in, is Make guest list. So that is my first guest related task. Now the important thing here is that this is actually a subtask of my Guests task. And in order to indicate that it’s a subtask I’m going to demote it in my task hierarchy. There is a button in the Schedule Group on the Task Tab. Let me hover over it and it says Indent Task. And indenting that task automatically demotes it within the hierarchy. Watch what happens when I do that. Now not only does Make guest list get indented and that clearly indicates that it is a subtask of Guests but a number of other things happen as well. One of them is that Guests becomes bold, indicating that it is a summary task. And it also gets a tiny little wedge next to it. Sorry, we couldn't fit the entire video transcription here since YouTube only allows 5000 characters.

Made in the 1950s by the Shell Oil Company, "Refinery Process" goes behind the scenes at a huge oil refinery to show how crude oil is transformed into finished products. The film uses a combination of animation and live-action to present the story in a simple and entertaining style, how crude oil is separated into major fractions or "cuts". It then describes how complicated molecules are "cracked" into simpler molecules of the lighter, more valuable products by the application of heat and pressure. This film is one of a series made by Shell as part of its public relations efforts. All the films in the series are well-made and use innovative techniques for their time. The company spent over $1 million dollars in the 1950s -- roughly $10 million in today's world -- on its film library. An oil refinery or petroleum refinery is an industrial process plant where crude oil is processed and refined into more useful products such as petroleum naphtha, gasoline, diesel fuel, asphalt base, heating oil, kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas. Oil refineries are typically large, sprawling industrial complexes with extensive piping running throughout, carrying streams of fluids between large chemical processing units. In many ways, oil refineries use much of the technology of, and can be thought of, as types of chemical plants. The crude oil feedstock has typically been processed by an oil production plant. There is usually an oil depot (tank farm) at or near an oil refinery for the storage of incoming crude oil feedstock as well as bulk liquid products. An oil refinery is considered an essential part of the downstream side of the petroleum industry. This is about a new version of Absolute BME's course on Quantitative Seismic Interpretation -- or QSI. We are in Cadeby Quarry in Yorkshire with real rocks... QSI describes reservoir rocks from surface seismic, well data and geological knowledge. This is the type locality for the Cadeby Formation. It has 16-18% intrinsic porosity and significant fracture permeability. There are source rocks below. It's a reservoir interval in some petroleum reservoirs: • Onshore UK • Across the Southern and Central North Sea • and into Holland and beyond However, this is the Magnesian Limestone and QSI is most at home with sand-shale sequences. Carbonates are more of a challenge. This flowchart groups the main Reservoir Description stages of seismic, drilling and engineering by colour. The overall flow is from left to right, data and processes mostly flow from top to bottom. The central QSI process of Rock Physics and Amplitude versus Offset (or AVO) analysis is in red. Note the parallelism between: • QSI -- narrowly defined in red, with Pre-stack seismic attributes and Rock Physics and • QSI -- broadly defined, to include Post-stack seismic attributes and Inversion in blue In response to feedback requests, Absolute BME is broadening their QSI course: We need both Pre- and Post-stack seismic. So we plan an icebreaker practical, to introduce basic seismic processing and gathers. Then we'll discuss Pre-stack attributes on the 2nd day and Post-stack attributes on the last day Seismic is a form of Remote Sensing. As with satellite images we Ground-truth to real features and materials. In QSI, we calibrate seismic against non-seismic data. In order of rapidly increasing cost and relevance we have: a. Outcrop analogues and lateral equivalents like this b. Seismic waves average the detail we see in outcrops and well logs. Reflection coefficients measure changes in bulk rock properties. c. Wells ground-truth Rock Physics with wireline logs and fluid samples. Broader QSI can use almost every well data type. Third-party experts provide Asset Teams with key insights. d. Well Tests, Flowmeter logs and Production History have no azimuthal information, so now QSI explains. Critical reviews tune the Reservoir Model. In summary: Absolute BME's new QSI course will be broad & interactive. We'll have practical sessions with delegates' own laptop computers. On Day 1, we'll review the Reservoir Description workflow. In the afternoon, we'll get familiar with seismic gathers and wiggles. On Day 2, we'll discuss QSI with logs and Rock Physics. In the afternoon, we'll look at Pre-stack seismic attributes. On Day 3, we'll discuss Post-stack seismic attributes. In the afternoon, we'll look at 3D and 4D seismic for Exploration and Reservoir Models. Thank you for listening.

When To Purchase Etfs vs Stocks. When to Buy ETFS vs Stocks (6 Times When Investing In Etfs Is Better Than Picking Stocks) By the end of this video you will have much better idea of when invest in etfs (Exchange traded funds) versus selecting individual stocks. Let’s begin 1. When the sector has a narrow dispersion of returns. Sectors that have a narrow dispersion of returns from the mean do not offer stock pickers an advantage when trying to generate market-beating returns. For example lets assume there are 100 companies in the utility sector and most of them provide an annual rate of return of 4%, because the performance of all companies in these sectors tends to be similar. This is usually true for consumer staple investments as well. Its kind of like trying to choose which McDonalds to go to. No matter which one you choose the hamburger is basically going to taste the same. Since the dispersion of returns from these kind of investments tends to be narrow or similar; picking individual stock does not offer sufficiently higher return for the risk so purchasing a utility etf or index fund might make the most sense in this example. . 2. When you want to invest in a particular market sector or industry, but you have limited knowledge of that sector or industry For example, if you believe that now is a good time to invest in the mining sector, you may want to gain specific industry exposure. However, you are concerned that some stocks might encounter political problems harming their production. In this case, it is prudent to buy into the sector rather than a specific stock, since it reduces your risk. You can still benefit from growth in the overall sector, especially if it outperforms the overall market. 3. When the performance drivers of a company are difficult to understand. These companies may possess complicated technology or processes that cause them to underperform or do well. Perhaps performance depends on the successful development and sale of a new unproven technology. You find it difficult to understand the company or industry. Chipper told me a pharmaceutical company was going to do well, but I don’t understand how they operate, and there are so many of them to choose from. Which one do I pick? Unlike in the first example where the dispersion of investment returns were narrow, the desperation of returns in this case are wide so may even more challenging to pick the winning stocks in the industry. The biotechnology industry is a good example, as many of these companies depend on the successful development and sale of a new drug. If the development of the new drug does not meet expectations in the series of trials, or the FDA does not approve the drug application, the company faces a bleak future. On the other hand, if the FDA approves the drug, investors in the company can be highly rewarded. 4. When you want instant diversification ETFs provide instant diversification relative to individual stocks. It would be challenging to have a properly diversified portfolio with 10 individual stocks, but relatively simple with the same number of ETFs. (To learn more, see 10 Ways ETFs Can Grow Your Portfolio.) 5. Invest In Hard-to-access Markets Owning gold is a pain for most individual investors; owning SPDR Gold Shares (NYSE:GLD) (which owns gold bullion) is simple. Not only does this ETF bypass the bid-ask spreads of retail gold and the expense of rolling over futures contracts, but it has no storage or security requirements. Likewise, investors can access commodities like copper, precious metals, timberland and so on through the convenient forms of ETFs. (For more, check out Commodities: The Portfolio Hedge.) 6. Less time consuming way to invest The iShares US Medical Devices ETF (NYSE:IHI) contains 40 different stocks. It would take weeks for an individual investor to do proper due diligence on each of those names, and that is one of the advantages of ETF investing. Why should I spend all my time trying to sit here and pick individual stocks? I need to get my sorceress in Diablo 2 to level 99! Because the impact and importance of any one stock is relatively small, investors can spend their time thinking about which sectors and markets are poised to perform and make investment choices without being bogged down by an overwhelming amount of initial and ongoing due diligence. http://www.audiomasterclass.com - A comparison between square waves and sine waves of various frequencies, displayed on an oscilloscope, with commentary. TRANSCRIPT I am going to demonstrate the difference in sound texture between a square wave and a sine wave, and show how they become subjectively increasingly similar at higher frequencies. I'll play a signal that alternates between square wave and sine wave, starting at 100 Hz. You will hear the difference clearly. As you can hear, the square wave has a very much brighter and harsher tone, compared to the sine wave, which is very smooth. The levels have been set to the same RMS values, so that both waveforms should be subjectively equally loud. Now I will increase the frequency to 1000 Hz, or 1 kHz. As I continue to increase the frequency I will adjust the timebase control of the oscilloscope so that you can see the shapes of the waveforms clearly. At 1 kHz the square wave and the sine wave still sound very different to each other. I will increase the frequency in 1 kHz steps... 2 kHz 3 kHz 4 kHz At this point you will probably start to hear both waveforms as being very similar, apart from a small difference in level that I will explain in a moment. Let's move more quickly through the frequency range... 6 kHz 8 kHz 10 kHz 12 kHz At this point, both waveforms sound pretty much identical. The reason for this is that the brightness of the square wave is caused by its harmonics. Where a sine wave only has one frequency component - its fundamental - the square wave has the fundamental and harmonics at whole odd-number multiples of the fundamental frequency. So in a 100 Hz square wave, you hear frequency components of 100 Hz, 300 Hz, 500 Hz, 700 Hz, and so on all the way up the frequency band, as you can see in this spectrogram. When we get to a fundamental frequency of 4 kHz however, the next frequency component, which we call the second harmonic is at 12 kHz. Many people can't hear frequencies as high as this. At a fundamental frequency of 8 kHz, the second harmonic is at 24 kHz, which hardly anyone is capable of hearing. It is also worth saying that digital audio sampled at 44.1 kHz which is common can't reproduce 24 kHz either. A sampling rate of 96 kHz was used to make the original recordings here to show on the oscilloscope, to allow a margin of safety. So, as the frequency increases, the harmonics of the square wave become inaudible, leaving only the fundamental, so at a high enough frequency it sounds exactly the same as a sine wave. Finally, let me explain the slight differences in level. Well, if the harmonic components of the square wave are being lost at very high frequencies, the overall level will therefore be a little lower. You might also notice some ringing in the square wave signal. This is probably being created by filtering in the digital-to-analog convertor. The ringing frequency is around 46 kHz, so it is well above the audio band. The oscilloscope, by the way, is specified up to 20 MHz, so we can expect it to be completely clean in the audio band. In summary, at increasing frequencies, a square wave begins to sound more and more like a sine wave.

Is Administrative Review of Granted Patents Constitutional? The U.S. Supreme Court granted certiorari in Oil States Energy Services v. Greene’s Energy Group, a case in which the petitioner argues that the most prominent U.S. Patent and Trademark Office process for analyzing the validity of granted patents “violates the Constitution by extinguishing private property rights through a non-Article III forum without a jury.” Duke Law's Center for Innovation Policy gathered distinguished practitioners and legal scholars from a variety of perspectives to discuss potential implications of the case for patent law, for the administrative state, and for affected industries. Panel 2: Oil States’ Impact on the Administrative State Panelists: John F. In this tutorial I will show you how to turn an image into a simulated cross-stitch effect. I've used real world dimensions here, so if you print out a 6 inch square picture with this method, It will look similar to what a real 6 inch square cross-stitch project would look like. This method should work well with logos, signs, proverbs, etc. Works best where large areas of solid color or backgound are prevalent. You will need 2 files to make the patterns for this tutorial. The Cross-Stitch pattern by Paul O. Zelinsky shown in the attibutions below and the Aida Cloth pattern by me. To make it easy for you, I've place both of them in a zip file: http://magicalfruit-tuts.com.s3.amazonaws.com/cross_stitch/cross_stitch_dl.zip I start out the tutorial with a 3 minute summary "fly-by" session working with the Rhino word cloud image that I made in a previous tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ojhxGr8ZwEc I Made the flyby so you can quickly determine what the tutorial is about and how the effect is applied. Then In the main detailed tutorial I show you how to modify a black and white Route 66 highway sign, colorize it, and change the design a bit. Next I show how to apply the cross-stitch effect to the sign. If you are interested in working with the Rhino word cloud image, you can get it at http://www.magicalfruit-tuts.com/rhino.html This video was made for instructional and educational purposes. In it I teach people how to use Adobe Photoshop to make interesting designs. No copyrighted materials were used in this video. The Da Vinci Code movie clips: http://j.mp/1CO76Jq BUY THE MOVIE: http://amzn.to/rIL4Hd Don't miss the HOTTEST NEW TRAILERS: http://bit.ly/1u2y6pr CLIP DESCRIPTION: Teabling (Ian McKellen) discusses the theory that the Holy Grail is in fact Mary Magdalene as proven by Da Vinci's Last Supper painting. FILM DESCRIPTION: Dan Brown's controversial best-selling novel about a powerful secret that's been kept under wraps for thousands of years comes to the screen in this suspense thriller from director Ron Howard. The stately silence of Paris' Louvre museum is broken when one of the gallery's leading curators is found dead on the grounds, with strange symbols carved into his body and left around the spot where he died. Hoping to learn the significance of the symbols, police bring in Sophie Neveu (Audrey Tautou), a gifted cryptographer who is also the victim's granddaughter. Needing help, Sophie calls on Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks), a leading symbologist from the United States. As Sophie and Robert dig deeper into the case, they discover the victim's involvement in the Priory of Sion, a secret society whose members have been privy to forbidden knowledge dating back to the birth of Christianity. In their search, Sophie and Robert happen upon evidence that could lead to the final resting place of the Holy Grail, while members of the priory and an underground Catholic society known as Opus Dei give chase, determined to prevent them from sharing their greatest secrets with the world. Also starring Ian McKellen, Jean Reno, and Alfred Molina, The Da Vinci Code was shot on location in France and the United Kingdom; the Louvre allowed the producers to film at the famous museum, but scenes taking place at Westminster Abbey had to filmed elsewhere when church officials declined permission. https://2018.jsconf.is/speakers/maja-wichrowska/ In 2017, Airbnb supported 27 languages and had developed robust translation tools that made it easy to add more. We launched Croatian in May with little overhead beyond setting up the new domain and translating phrases. However, this was not true for all new languages; our next most requested language, Hebrew, posed a unique challenge. Because it reads right-to-left, the entire Hebrew UI must be flipped. Browsers only handle reversing the DOM structure, but styling and interactions must be coded manually. This talk covers the journey of enabling right-to-left languages on airbnb.com. Recently, Airbnb has moved to a React frontend and away from Sass to a CSS-in-JS paradigm. We developed a performant and cross-browser solution for RTL that leveraged a CSS-in-JS abstraction layer to isolate the logic from our codebase. Our efforts led us most of the way to launching in Arabic and Hebrew while requiring little effort from our product engineers and with minimal disruption to their work.

A Google TechTalk, presented by Jonathan Lazar, 2018-06-27 Abstract: There is a growing community of researchers in accessibility, doing ground-breaking work on ICT access for people with disabilities. Yet this research often does not result in more accessible interfaces for the general population of users with disabilities. There is a growing awareness that we have been successful in creating accessible solutions for people with disabilities, but we have not been successful in getting them implemented in real-world systems! This presentation will present a number of potential approaches for increasing the accessibility of real-world systems and digital content. These ideas include 1) behavioral economic approaches to accessibility (opt-out instead of opt-in), 2) requiring notification of accessibility status in app stores, 3) teaching more about ICT accessibility at all levels of education, 4) leveraging the purchasing power of large tech companies, university systems, and state governments for improved ICT accessibility, and 5) social pressure and cultural integration. Facts: Varsity Brands, Inc. (Varsity) designs and manufactures clothing and accessories for use in various athletic activities, including cheerleading. Design concepts for the clothing incorporate elements such as colors, shapes, lines, etc., and do not consider the functionality of the final clothing. Varsity received copyright registration for the two-dimensional artwork of the designs at issue in this case, which were very similar to ones that Star Athletica, LLC (Star) was advertising. Varsity sued Star and alleged, among other claims, that Star violated the Copyright Act. Star asserted counterclaims, including one that alleged that Varsity had made fraudulent representations to the Copyright Office because the designs at issue were not copyrightable. Both parties filed motions for summary judgment. Star argued that Varsity did not have valid copyrights because the designs were for “useful articles,” which cannot be copyrighted, and the designs cannot be separated from the uniforms themselves, which also makes the designs impossible to copyright. Varsity argued that the designs were separable and non-functional, and therefore that the copyrights were valid and had been infringed. The district court granted summary judgment for Star and held that the designs were integral to the functionality of the uniform. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit reversed and held that the Copyright Act allows graphic features of a design to be copyrighted even when those designs are not separable from a “useful article.” Question: What is the appropriate test to determine whether a feature of a “useful article” is copyrightable under the Copyright Act? For more information about this case see: https://www.oyez.org/cases/2016/15-866 Section 1: 00:00:05 Section 2: 00:24:26 Section 3: 00:44:42 Section 4: 00:55:09 PuppyJusticeAutomated videos are created by a program written by Adam Schwalm.
