Closing sales without a plan for your sales calls is magical thinking. If you want to increase sales dramatically go to http://www.caramanico.com to find out what optimal selling is. This video describes how to improve sales by including the elements of a good plan for a sales call. Increasing sales is a delicate balance of sales skills and having the right mindset. One of the primary selling skills is the ability to have a good sales process and execute it on every sales call. However a sales process is not a plan for a sales call. Good sales call plans that will increase sales consist of several elements. There is the beginning, there are the major points that you want to make. There must be questions you want to ask to transition the sale to the key points you want to make or the information you want to uncover. You must also close the sale at the end. This does not necessarily mean that you get the order but you must close for the next step in the sales process. Every sales call must close with a next step agreed to by the prospect and the salesperson. If you don't close for the next step you will be chasing this prospect and wasting time following up. What is Strategic Planning? Here’s the definition… It is a process initiated by an ENTITY to establish a PLAN for accomplishment of the overall GOALS. Are you bored yet? I know I am. Ok. Let’s break this down and make it more fun and simple. There are 3 main elements to any strategic plan: #1 is YOU. You are the entity, aka the leader. #2 is the PLAN. #3 is the GOAL. So you always want to start with the goal, which in essence, is the BIG PICTURE. What is the end game that you want to achieve? Work on this for as long as it takes until you get clarity. When you are crystal clear on your expected outcome, you will be able to lead yourself and your team while sailing through the ups and downs. Once you come up with a clear big picture, then you reverse engineer it to map out the step by step master plan. Doing this will help you create a path and ensure that you always have a point of FOCUS. It is normal to encounter other enticing opportunities during your success journey. But you got to stay focused on your Big Picture. You and Your team depend on You to get to the end game. In my previous company, we grew very fast when we first started out. We were getting a lot of recognition among the trade and sales kept rolling in. One day, one of the “Big Players” within the industry approached me and proposed to partner up. They were a very well known and respected company within our region, which was California and neighboring states. The benefits seemed very attractive… Our Brand would get immediately recognized as a prestigious name, and They had more distribution centers which would allow us to increase our sales volume instantly. The draw backs were… They also carried hundreds of other brands and we’d become one of the sub-brands under their umbrella; and Their company mission was different from ours. They’ve been a successful regional distributor for several decades and were happy to stay that way. Our vision was to build an international distribution and become a reputable brand name. Although the census were equally split during my decision making process, I chose to decline the offer to follow the path that aligned with our Big Picture. Here's the 8 Systems every Digital Marketing Agency needs: 1. CLARITY: Where is your agency now and where do you want it to go? You can't get where you're going unless you're very clear on the destination. 2. POSITIONING: How can you position your agency as "THE Choice" rather than just "A Choice"? 3. OFFERING: What do your ideal clients need? Hint: it's not always what you want them to need :) But, what does your service offering ladder look like and how can you use it to build trust and land the bigger projects or retainers? 4. PROSPECTING: With the right positioning and offering, how can you find the right prospects? I believe every agency should have a 3-channel approach to prospecting: inbound, outbound and partnerships. That way, if one or two of those channels becomes weak you still have others to fall back on. 5. SALES: What will be your process for converting all your prospects into clients? Are you talking to only the right prospects and not wasting time on the wrong ones? Is there a qualification process, proposal process and follow-up process? 6. DELIVERY: This is an area that is often overlooked but so important to success. What is the onboarding strategy? What is the plan for continuous follow-up and how can you ensure you don't lose money through scope creep? 7. OPERATIONS: What is the structure of your team and how does your agency's org chart look? As you grow, how will the org chart continue to develop and where do the layers of authority and responsibility lie? 8.
