With that said it's easy to understand why you're probably making at least a couple mistakes every morning that may be stopping you from losing weight. So today I want to give you a definitive list of 10 morning habits that are preventing weight loss. By learning what these are & by making some easy changes to your morning routine you can lose weight faster with less road bumps along your way. And I want to start with one of the most obvious that many of you probably already know..eating traditional breakfast foods in the morning is a sure fire way to gain weight instead of losing it. What do I mean by traditional breakfast foods...I"m talking about things like cereal, bagels, pop tarts, pancakes, waffles, and muffins. These foods are all very high in either refined flour, sugar, or both. Not only is a diet high in refined flour & sugar linked to obesity it's also linked to insulin resistance & diabetes. When you spike your blood sugar & insulin levels every morning with foods like this you make weight loss virtually impossible. Now I'm not saying you can't eat carbs for breakfast. You can definitely do that, but stick to carb sources that are not processed and come from single ingredient foods. Things like oatmeal, Ezekiel bread, and fruit will serve you much better. You'll get fuller faster from the high fiber content of these real foods, you won't have such a dramatic spike in insulin levels, and you won't feel the desire to eat more. And that's actually leads right to another morning habit that prevents weight loss. I'm talking about impulse eating and this is a habit that's linked directly to eating processed and refined foods. When you eat foods like the traditional breakfast foods that we just talked about as well as other foods that contain High fructose corn syrup, artificial flavors, additives, sugar and flavor enhancers they all Trick your brain and actually become addicting. These artificial flavors and excessive amounts of sugar get your taste buds used to a crazy amount of stimulation. And then with real food like fruit and cinammon flavored oatmeal it becomes impossible to match the dopamine release you get from the unnatrual sources that are full of added sugar. Also like I already said these processed foods will spike your blood sugar temporarily only to be followed by a crash. When your blood sugar comes crashing back down you're going to feel really hungry for more of the same bad foods that got you into trouble to begin with. This vicious cycle creates a full day of impulse eating led by the reward center of your brain seeking its fix...ultimately making you even more hooked on junk & processed foods. Luckily you can reset your pallate by staying away from these addicting ingredients for a consistent period of time. Start by concentrating on staying away from these foods for 3 days. Just after 3 days you will appreciate real healthy food much more & after a few weeks your desire for bad food will diminish significantly. The next morning habit that you want to avoid is force feeding yourself breakfast. It seems like most trainers, nutritionists, & most people in general believe that one of the worst things you can do for weight loss is skip breakfast. This is based on the idea that breakfast is the most important meal of the day & without it you delay "starting your metabolism" & you potentially risk entering the dreaded "starvation mode" Some people believe so strongly in this "you must eat breakfast philosophy" that they would rather have you eat something bad like a bagel or a muffin rather than not eating anything at all. Think thoughts of wealth, abundance, and happiness, and those things will start flowing into your life. Think about lack, and you will get lack. What you fear will be drawn to you. 13 - Get started. Losers have dreams, winners have concrete goals with specific tasks and deadlines. 14 - Stop with the hero worship. Who cares about millionaire sport heroes, or who the flavor-of-the-month movie star is dating. We could have been on Mars 30 years ago. At the peak of the Apollo era in the early '70s, NASA was already planning its next step into the unknown. Its plans included building multiple space stations, continued trips to the Moon, and the first crewed mission to Mars by the 1980s. Can you imagine watching astronauts walk on Mars the same time the walkmen came out? But NASA never sent humans to Mars in the '80s. And here we are 30 years later, still dreaming of the possibility. But the reason isn't necessarily a matter of technology or innovation. It actually comes down to politics. As a government agency, NASA's goals are determined by the Executive Branch. Since its inception, NASA has served under 12 presidents. And it was clear near the start that not every president would support NASA equally. By the end of Nixon's administration in 1974, NASA's budget had plummeted from 4% of the federal budget to less than 1%. Fully-funded Apollo missions 18 and 19 were abandoned along with Apollo 20. At the same time, Nixon pulled NASA's focus away from the Moon and Mars and instead toward low-Earth orbit. His parting gift was to sign into effect what would eventually become NASA's Space Shuttle program. Peter Diamandis: "So what's happened throughout all of space history after the Apollo program was over was to start, stop, start, stop, cancel. President comes in like Bush comes in to go to the Moon, back to Mars and next president comes in and cancels that. The agency is unable to sustain consistent funding to do anything." It wasn't until the Space Shuttle Program was nearing retirement that a crewed mission to Mars was finally considered and funded by a US president. George W. Bush, in 2004, announced: "We will give NASA new focus and vision for future exploration. We will build new ships to carry man forward into the universe to gain a new foothold on the Moon." As a result, NASA's Constellation Program was born. Never heard of it? That's because it was canceled a few years later. It aimed to send a crewed mission to the Moon in 2020 and land the first humans on Mars by the 2030s. By the time Obama was sworn in, the Constellation Program was behind schedule and over budget. One year later, Obama canceled 100% of the program's funding. "All that has to change. And with the strategy, I'm outlining today it will." -Barack Obama in 2010. Obama shifted NASA's focus from sending people to the Moon and Mars to, ultimately, just Mars. In the process, he asked Congress to increase NASA's budget by $6 billion over the next 5 years. As a result, NASA launched its "Journey to Mars" initiative in 2010, with the goal to send humans into orbit around Mars by the early 2030s. And, until recently, NASA was on track, more or less. Then, this happened. “President Trump has launched the National Space Council and at the council’s inaugural meeting in October, we unanimously approved a recommendation to instruct NASA to return American astronauts to the moon and from there to lay a foundation for a mission to Mars.” -Mike Pence in 2017 Oddly enough, the space policy under Trump and Obama look nearly identical, save for 63 words. In those 63 words, Trump's administration has shifted the focus once again to a Moon-first, Mars-later initiative. NASA isn't new to this. It's learned to recycle old projects to fit new missions. For instance, the Orion capsule was first developed for Constellation and has since been redesigned for the Journey to Mars. But even that can't prevent the inevitable changes NASA programs now face under the new president. "We're also going to realign the organizational structure to best meet this new exploration focus. I've asked Stephen Jurczyk the current head of space exploration to lead and effort to design a new organizational approach." -Robert M. Lightfoot, Jr. in 2018 As NASA pushes on, a new possibility has grown on the horizon. Privately-owned space companies like SpaceX also has its sights set on the red planet. Diamandis: "The scientists and engineers at NASA are amazing and they've done extraordinary things. But they're risk aversion...That doesn't allow us to do new and novel things that are on the edge. Doing anything big and bold in space is hard and it's risky. So, it's entrepreneurs taking the risks these days, willing to put everything on the line." The race for Mars is on. While NASA has closely partnered with SpaceX and other privately-owned space companies in recent years, ultimately, NASA may not be the ones who write the next chapter in human space exploration. Examining the collective body of research and blood markers around all of these instances, you begin to see some painfully obvious patterns emerge. What do all of these situations have in common? Chronically Elevated Cortisol Levels Chronically Elevated Estrogen Levels (there is a feedback loop between cortisol and estrogen where they both increase one another over time as well) Low Thyroid Function Liberation of Free Fatty Acids In The Blood, which stimulates Estrogen production Chronically Elevated Prolactin Levels Mucopolysaccharide accumulation in the scalp tissue (Matrix for Calcification) Drops in protective hormone levels like Progesterone, with the simultaneous increase in stress hormone levels like cortisol and estrogen (This ratio matters) Control and balance these hormones through proper nutrition, micronutrient correction, and stress management and you will reverse your hair loss. Let’s look at some specific recommendations. I wanted to make sure I put together an action plan for anyone who needs to stop and reverse their hair loss: First off, controlling excess Estrogen: to control estrogen I recommend taking the following 4 step approach: Methylate the estrogen in your system (choline and betaine) Lose extra body fat above 15% Supplement with, or up the dietary intake of Vitamin A, K2, and D Drastically reduce your exposure to estrogenics in your environment and diet Second, controlling Cortisol: Cortisol comes down to stress management. This has both psychological and physiological components. On the psychological level, you must stop reacting to things. A shift from negative outlook to positive outlook is necessary. Most people overlook this or discount it as not important but control of your mind and your worldview is absolutely MASSIVE. On the physiological level, you must increase oxygen consumption by improving your breathing. Spend 10-20 minutes per day in deep breathing. Also stop eating crappy food, it is causing your body significant cellular stress! In terms of exercise, stop doing chronic endurance training, focus on heavy lifting and explosive movements with plenty of rest between sets and sessions. Third, lower your Prolactin levels: To lower prolactin quickly and naturally, I recommend supplementation with KSM-66 ashwagandha like we have in Testro-X. This study found https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19789214 a significant 15% drop in Prolactin in men taking ashwagandha while simultaneously increasing T production by 40%. Increase the amount of Vitamin E you’re getting in your diet, or use a Vitamin E supplement. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1490755 In this study, 300 mg’s of vitamin E for 8 weeks, decreased prolactin levels by a staggering 69% when compared to placebo in healthy human subjects. Also, I recommend using L-Dopa like you can find in the Truth Nutra Dopa Mucuna. Improve your Thyroid function: For those with damaged thyroid (if you’re losing hair you have a damaged thyroid btw), you must do everything in your power to improve your thyroid function. I initially recommend people use a dessicated thyroid supplement to treat this and kickstart your thyroid again. I also recommend supplementing with iodine and selenium. Use this supplementation protocol for at least 4-8 weeks to correct deficiencies. Hair loss, hair fall, balding in men, women, and children across the board is caused by: High estrogen High cortisol High prolactin Low thyroid function All of these are caused by micronutrient deficiencies, chronic stress, and exposure to estrogenics through the environment and certain food sources (basically a high estrogen load) and with storage in excess body fat tissue. Recognizing Child Development Problems / Educational Video. Public domain video courtesy of CDC. It's time to change how we view a child's growth. Do you know all the ways you should measure your childs growth? We naturally think of height and weight, but from birth to 5 years, your child should reach milestones in how he plays, learns, speaks and acts. A delay in any of these areas could be a sign of a developmental problem, even autism. The good news is, the earlier its recognized the more you can do to help your child reach her full potential. Early recognition of developmental disabilities such as autism is key for parents and providers. CDC realized the impact on families and invested in a campaign to help parents measure their children's progress by monitoring how they play, learn, speak and act. What is child development? A child's growth is more than just physical. Children grow, develop, and learn throughout their lives, starting at birth. A child's development can be followed by how they play, learn, speak, and behave. What is a developmental delay? Will my child just grow out of it? Skills such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, and waving "bye bye" are called developmental milestones. Children reach milestones in playing, learning, speaking, behaving, and moving (crawling, walking, etc.). A developmental delay is when your child does not reach these milestones at the same time as other children the same age. If your child is not developing properly, there are things you can do that may help. Most of the time, a developmental problem is not something your child will "grow out of" on his or her own. But with help, your child could reach his or her full potential! What is developmental screening? Doctors and nurses use developmental screening to tell if children are learning basic skills when they should, or if they might have problems. Your child's doctor may ask you questions or talk and play with your child during an exam to see how he or she learns, speaks, behaves, and moves. Since there is no lab or blood test to tell if your child may have a delay, the developmental screening will help tell if your child needs to see a specialist. Why is developmental screening important? When a developmental delay is not recognized early, children must wait to get the help they need. This can make it hard for them to learn when they start school. In the United States, 17 percent of children have a developmental or behavioral disability such as autism, intellectual disability (also known as mental retardation), or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). In addition, many children have delays in language or other areas. In addition, many children have delays in language or other areas. But, less than half of children with problems are identified before starting school. During this time, the child could have received help for these problems and may even have entered school more ready to learn. Talk to your child's doctor or nurse if you have concerns about how your child is developing. If you or your doctor think there could be a problem, you can take your child to see a developmental pediatrician or other specialist, and you can contact your local early intervention agency (for children under 3) or public school (for children 3 and older) for help. Ketosis can occur during fasting, when you reduce the amount of carbs or calories in your diet, during pregnancy or after exercising for a long period of time. Many diets use ketosis as the means of burning fat while maintaining muscle - examples include the Atkins diet and other low-carb diets. This strategy can also lead to decreased hunger. How long does it take to kick your body into fat burning, ketosis mode? Roughly 3-4 days of consuming less than 50 carbs per day, the equivalent of 2 bananas. Benefits include weight loss, seizure prevention, cardiovascular health and type-2 diabetes help, to name a few. How does it Work? When glucose is in short supply, your liver will break down fats into ketones, which are then used throughout your body for energy. Muscles and other tissues in your body use ketones rather than glucose for energy metabolism. In a healthy person, the production of ketones for energy is the body’s natural response to starvation, so this happens when dieting, overnight and during fasting. Glucose or Ketones: Which is More Effective? Many brain diseases, such as epilepsy, are already being treated by the ketogenic diet. The mechanisms to why it helps the brain are still being studied, but there are some possible reasons that ketones seem to be a good energy source for the brain. One major Ketone, beta-hydroxybutyrate, or BHB, provides more energy per unit of oxygen than glucose, and thus may be even more efficient than glucose at providing energy to the brain. (3) -The ketogenic diet has also been found to increase the number of mitochondria in brain cells. In a 2004 study on rats, one group was fed a ketogenic diet while the other was fed a normal diet. A positive impact was found on the gene expression for mitochondrial enzymes in the hippocampus, the memory and learning center of the brain. (4) Ketosis and Body Water Composition: High fat and low carb diets are known to lead to fast weight loss. The fast weight loss is due to water weight being shed (5) -When you decrease carbs, you decrease water storage in the body. Who Can Benefit From Ketosis? If you are looking to shed some body fat, ketosis may be a good tool. This can go along with an exercise regimen as you maintain muscle while losing fat. Ketosis can also benefit those who need to boost brain power as energy may be utilized more effectively in the brain. *Be careful because those with diabetes can get too high of a level of ketones in their blood, which is very dangerous. This occurs due to the low levels of insulin in the blood, which will signal the body to produce excess ketones that will build up in the blood, making the blood pH too low. References: 1. Stigma, ignorance, neglect, superstition and communication barriers for children with disabilities are among the social factors that explain their discrimination and isolation from society. It is not the impairment itself, but rather attitudes and environmental barriers that result in disability. Children with disabilities are often 'invisible' to service providers and they are at greater risk of violence than their non-disabled peers. Children with disabilities are often disproportionately placed in alternative care, rather than remaining with their families. These raise concerns for their protection. UNICEF's strategy is to promote the recognition of all children as full members of society and the respect for all of their rights without any discrimination. We work with partners to promote the inclusion of children with disabilities into society by stimulating changes in attitudes and practices of the general public and service providers toward children with disabilities. Further, UNICEF works with governments to help ensure that family members of persons with disabilities, who are often the primary caretakers, and children with disabilities themselves, receive assistance from the State for disability-related expenses, adequate training, counselling, financial assistance and respite care. A reverse mortgage is a type of loan for homeowners aged 62 and older often used to help pay for living expenses. Here’s how they work. With a reverse mortgage, you borrow money against the equity in your home. Instead of paying interest and fees each month, they are added to your loan balance. As the loan balance grows, your home equity shrinks. Once the last borrower no longer lives in the house, the loan must be paid back, but you will pay no more than the value of the house. Keep in mind that you can lose your home if you don’t meet the loan requirements. Unlike a traditional mortgage, you have no monthly mortgage payments. But you are still responsible for paying your property taxes & homeowner’s insurance, and maintaining your home. If you can’t pay these expenses, or if you stop living in your home for most of the year, you can lose your home to foreclosure. A reverse mortgage is not a government benefit. The loan is made by a private lender and it must be paid back. You’ll need a plan for your future. Think about your future housing and financial needs. On average, a 65 year old is likely to live another twenty years or more. Down the road, you may want to live in a smaller house or move closer to family. If so, a reverse mortgage may not be right for you because you’ll need to pay off that growing loan balance when you sell your home and may not have enough left to buy a new home. Also, borrowing a reverse mortgage at a young age can be risky. Later in life you’re more likely to have less income and higher health care bills, which could be a problem if you run out of loan proceeds.
