Periodontal disease and Systemic Health Issues.wmv

ental scientists first turned their attention to understanding the "biologic plausibility" of how periodontitis might confer risk for systemic disease. Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) primarily are a result of atherosclerosis and are the number one cause of mortality worldwide. Increasing evidence over the past decade suggests that severe periodontal disease is associated with increased cardiovascular disease risk. Several possible mechanisms may operate independently or in concert to explain this association. The mechanisms resulting in pathology from both periodontitis and CVD are similar i.e., both diseases have complex causation that includes genetic and gender predispositions, age, diabetes, smoking, social status, and stress. Periodontal infections may directly contribute to the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and thromboembolicevents by providing repeated systemic challenges with LPS and inflammatory cytokines. The oral cavity of individuals with periodontitis represents a potentially large reservoir of Gram-negative pathogenic organisms that can penetrate gingival tissues, enter the circulation and contribute to atherosclerosis progression. The possible relationship between infectious diseases and the genesis of atherosclerosis remains hypothetical. It is important todistinguish between the potential role of infectious diseases in atherogenesis and the possibility that infection may enhance a smoldering inflammatory process that is already present in atheromatous plaques.

5 Effective Home Remedies for Gum Disease

03:48
Gum disease, also known as gingivitis, is a common condition characterized by symptoms like persistent bad breath, red or swollen gums, bleeding gums, receding gums and loose teeth. If not treated, it can advance to periodontitis and lead to further complications. The primary cause of gum disease is poor oral hygiene, resulting in plaque buildup along and under the gum line. Plaque builds up when bacteria attach to the tooth and gum margins. Factors like smoking, hormonal changes, genetic predisposition, poor nutrition, stress, certain medications, diabetes and other illnesses also contribute to the problem. Here are a few effective home remedies that can be used to alleviate symptoms, treat gum disease and prevent further complications. 1. Hydrogen Peroxide Hydrogen peroxide works as a strong antibacterial agent that kills germs and fights gum disease. Plus, it helps whiten and brighten your pearly whites. Make sure you use the 3 percent hydrogen peroxide solution that typically comes in brown bottles, rather than the highly concentrated version. Mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water. Rinse your mouth with the solution for a few seconds, and then spit it out. Use it a few times a week until you are satisfied with the results. Do not use hydrogen peroxide too often; once a day is sufficient. 2. Aloe Vera Due to its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, aloe vera has been found to be beneficial in dealing with gum disease. Being an antimicrobial, it also kills the bacteria that cause gum disease. Massage your gums with fresh aloe vera gel, leave it on for at least half an hour and then rinse it off. Repeat several times a day. Alternatively, swish some aloe vera juice around in your mouth a few times. 3. Oil Pulling Oil pulling is a traditional Ayurvedic technique that is excellent for oral care. It helps strengthen the teeth and gums, reduces plaque, and relieves bad breath. Swish one tablespoon of coconut oil around in your mouth and through your teeth. Do this for about 15 minutes or until it becomes thinner and turns milky. Do not gargle or swallow the oil. Spit it out and rinse your mouth with water. Repeat the process daily for about a month. 4. Tea Tree Oil The anti-inflammatory properties of tea tree oil help soothe irritated and inflamed gums. Simply put a few drops of tea tree oil on your toothpaste or buy toothpaste with tea tree oil in it for brushing your teeth two times a day. Do not swallow the oil. 5. Coconut Oil The antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties of coconut oil help in the natural treatment of gum disease. Combining it with baking soda will help neutralize the acids in your mouth, too. Mix two tablespoons each of coconut oil and baking soda. Use this in place of your toothpaste once or twice a week on a regular basis. In addition to these remedies, make sure to maintain adequate oral hygiene, including daily brushing, flossing and using a mouth rinse to reduce plaque buildup on your teeth. Plus, get regular dental check-ups. Gum Disease Can Affect Overall Health: Dr Brian Harris Phoenix, Arizona

06:23
Research has shown, and experts agree, that there is an association between periodontal diseases and other chronic inflammatory conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and Alzheimer's disease. Therefore, treating inflammation may not only help manage periodontal diseases but may also help with the management of other chronic inflammatory conditions. When an inflammatory condition is suspected or diagnosed, it is important to consult with both a general physician and a dental health professional, such as a periodontist. Sometimes the only way to detect periodontal diseases is through a periodontal evaluation.

Web: https://www.specialistdentalgroup.com/ FB: https://www.facebook.com/SpecialistDentalGroup/ Email: info@specialistdentalgroup.com Call: (65) 6733 7833 Gum disease affects your teeth and gums. Do you know that it can also affect your overall health? Gum disease is caused by oral bacteria; bacteria that causes inflammation in the gums, as well as the bone. Now scientists have found a link between gum disease and many other medical conditions, including heart disease, diabetes, and even possibly, Parkinson’s disease. Ladies should take particular note because in pregnancy, if a woman has severe gum disease, then there is a much higher chance of miscarriage or premature deliveries. We all know that premature babies have a lower birth weight, and more developmental problems. It is important to quit smoking, because smoking is a significant risk factor for gum disease. Brush your teeth 2 times a day for 2 minutes each and visit a dentist 2 times a year. Practice the rule of 2-2-2. Floss daily and eat a balanced diet for a lifetime of healthy smiles. It is important that you consult your physician and a dental health professional to help reduce your risk of further disease progression. Remember, a health mouth may open the way to a healthy body! Gum Disease-Best Foods to Prevent and Slow It Down

07:46
Gum or periodontal disease is an infection of the tissues and bones that surround and support your teeth. It causes gum swelling, bleeding, pain, and redness. Healthy gums are pink and firm. They do not bleed easily. There are two types of gum disease: - Gingivitis is a mild infection that affects only your gums, the soft tissue that surrounds the teeth. Your gums become red, swollen and bleed easily. It can be reversed with daily brushing, flossing, and regular cleaning by a dentist. It does not cause any tooth loss and usually is not painful - Periodontitis is a severe infection which spreads below the gums to damage the tissues and bone that support your teeth. The gums pull away from the teeth and form spaces (called “pockets”) that become infected. It causes progressive loss of the alveolar bone around the teeth. If neglected it ultimately leads to the loosening and loss of teeth Gum disease is caused bacteria (germs) that grow on your teeth and gums and are found in plaque, a clear, sticky substance produced by your mouth. Plaque feeds on sugars in the foods you eat and drink. Bacteria produce toxins and other chemicals. These toxins irritate your gums and cause them to swell and bleed easily when brushed. Plaque hardens into calculus or tartar under the gum-line which doubly irritates them and makes them pull away from your teeth. While brushing and flossing help get rid of plaque, tartar needs to be removed by a dental professional. Risk factors for gum disease: - Poor nutrition: diets low in vitamins and minerals weakens your immune systems; sticky diets high in sugary foods and bad (refined) carbohydrates help plaque grow. High sugar intakes lead to more bacteria which metabolize sugars into lactic. This eventually causes decay of teeth through demineralization - Tobacco use is dangerous for your general health and a huge risk for oral diseases be it smoked, sucked, chewed or snuffed - Alcohol consumption - Lack of oral hygiene - Stress - Family members with gum disease - Medical conditions that undermine your immune system, such as diabetes, AIDS, or leukemia "I will comport myself and use my knowledge in a godly manner." ; "First do no harm" Hippocrates "First do no harm" (Primum non nocere) Hippocrates: "Either help or do not harm the patient"

how oral health affects the body - how poor oral health affects general health

02:30
how oral health affects the body How poor oral health affects general health. PREMATURE BIRTH INCREASED TIME TO CONCEIVE INCREASED RISK OF HEART PROBLEMS INCREASED RISK OF DEMENTIA Oral Health and Diabetes LINK TO LUNG CONDITIONS PANCREATIC CANCER Your oral health is more important than you might realize. Get the facts about how the health of your mouth, teeth and gums can affect your general health. Cardiovascular disease: In a nutshell, this means heart disease. The bacteria from inflammation of the gums and periodontal disease can enter your bloodstream and travel to the arteries in the heart and cause atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Atherosclerosis causes plaque to develop on the inner walls of arteries which thicken and this decreases or may block blood flow through the body. This can cause an increased risk of heart attack or stroke. The inner lining of the heart can also become infected and inflamed a condition known as endocarditis. Dementia: The bacteria from gingivitis may enter the brain through either nerve channels in the head or through the bloodstream, that might even lead to the development of Alzheimer's disease. Respiratory infections: The Journal of Periodontology warns that gum disease could cause you to get infections in your lungs, including pneumonia. While the connection might not be completely obvious at first, think of what might happen from breathing in bacteria from infected teeth and gums over a long period of time. Diabetic complications: Inflammation of the gum tissue and periodontal disease can make it harder to control your blood sugar and make your diabetes symptoms worse. Diabetes sufferers are also more susceptible to periodontal disease, making proper dental care even more important for those with this disease.

How to Treat Gum Disease With Effective Home Remedies

03:49
How to Treat Gum Disease With Effective Home Remedies Gum disease, also known as gingivitis, is a common condition characterized by symptoms like persistent bad breath, red or swollen gums, bleeding gums, receding gums and loose teeth. How does dental health affect your heart health?

02:23
How does dental health affect your heart health? Is a healthy heart equal to a healthy mouth? Research goes by saying "yes" to this question. Heart disease is a serious problem in the world. Poor mouth health, too. Can better brushing and dental floss give you a healthier heart? And can dentists look into your mouth to see if you are at risk for heart disease? Dr. Dental and Chin Surgery Specialist Nihat Tanfer states that dental infections or cysts can cause heart health problems. DENTAL MEAT INTERACTING TOLERANCE OF HEART AND PLENTY INCOMPATIBILITY "The research shows that the bacterium caused by gum disease, including streptococcus sanguis, which plays a role in paralysis, has spread to the heart. In the absence of gum disease, the number of these bacteria in the heart is significantly reduced. Some studies show that as the number of bacteria taken from gum disease increases, the carotid arteries become thicker. If it gets too thick, the blood will not flow to the brain and this can cause a felc. Pretty simple, the more bacteria in the body are affected, the more the heart is affected. The lower the number of bacteria in the body, the lower the risk of heart disease. " THE EFFECT OF LIFE FORMATION ON TOOTH AND HEART HEALTH "Bacteria that play a role in tooth and heart health are caused by the lifestyles of the people. People with periodontal disease tend to have bad health habits in general. Many of them are smoking, probably not exercising, eating well, all of which are the strongest triggers of heart disease. In addition, many people with periodontal disease also have diabetes, which is another strong risk factor for heart disease. " DENTAL HEALTH INCREASES YOUR HEART HEALTH! "By preventing gum disease you can reduce the risk of heart disease. Regular dental care and dental visits can help to control your dental discomfort. If you pay attention to the treatment of your oral health, your general health condition also increases. You should regularly brush your teeth, use dental floss, visit your dentist regularly for early gum treatment. "

LASER Gum Treatment 2

01:48
http://www.lasergumdentist.com/ Patient was told by his previous dentist to remove his front teeth. Laser gum therapy was completed. After a week it appears he will be able to keep his teeth. Gum Surgery Los Angeles Dentist Downey Ca This case has been published in the Prestigious Peer reviewed Journal Compendium http://www.compendiumlive.com/article.php?id=2791 More information http://lasergumdentist.com/ http://www.johndds.com/ http://www.lasergumdentist.com/ Periodontal disease according to The Guinness Book of world records is the most common infectious disease affecting mankind. The surgeon General has estimated that 80% of adult Americans have some form of gum disease. Healthcare costs could be reduced by focusing on the mouth. Medical insurance companies are saying we can save 4 to 1. That is, for every dollar invested in dental care they are saving $4 in medical costs. The cost for treating diabetes is around $174 billion in the U.S. annually. Extrapolate what Columbia University and Aetna Medical found in their research that costs for diabetes care could be reduced by as much as 16 percent by treating gum disease. Take into consideration the Surgeon Generals estimate that gum disease affects approximately 80 percent of the U.S. population. Thus the potential savings by treating gum disease are approximately $22 billion. This does not include the savings for cardiovascular disease, a probable savings of 11 percent, or another 9 percent for cerebral vascular disease or stroke. The same Aetna and Columbia University studies found that treating gum disease can reduce preterm low birth-weight babies by 50 percent. Preterm low birth-weight births account for more than 12 percent of all births, $13 billion annually in hospitalizations and uncounted social costs since babies born prematurely often require years of care. The whole total of dental expenditures in the U.S is approximately $75 billion annually. Only 3%, according to Dental Insurance statistics, is spent on periodontal disease. In other words only $2 Billion is spent on gum disease annually. The important thing to take from this is to know your periodontal score. Unfortunately, gum disease does not hurt. When you visit your dentist make sure your gum pockets are being measured. The dentist needs to take six measurements per tooth. This score has been shown to be more important to your general health than your cholesterol level, body mass index, or blood pressure. Remember that your gums should never bleed when you brush and floss thoroughly, no more than your hands should bleed when you wash them. A new breakthrough in the treatment of Gum disease is Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure LANAP. The Laser gum treatment has been found to regenerate the attachment around the tooth. Complementary Evaluation Downey Dentist Laser Gum Treatment also known a s laser gum surgery LANAP, WPT, laser gum therapy, laser periodontics, laser periodontal treatment, laser gingivitis treatment, Annapolis periodontal technique has been proven scientifically to be able to reverse gum disease. Gum disease is classified as Gingivitis, Early, Moderate and Severe Periodontitis. The "laser Gum Treatment" does not require bone substitute materials to be used. These bone substitutes are known as gum bone graft. By avoiding "Bone Grafting" you minimize the risks involved in regenerative periodontal treatment by utilizing laser energy to promote ones own natural healing. Laser Gum Treatment Laser Gum Surgery

Gum Disease and Breast Cancer

04:48
Periodontal disease has been consistently associated with chronic disease; although oral-associated microbes are present in breast tumours. Previous studies have found links between periodontal disease and oral, oesophageal, head and neck, pancreatic, and lung cancers. Periodontal disease has been associated with heart disease, stroke, and diabetes. The risk factors for periodontal disease in women include genetic predisposition, smoking and hormonal changes. This makes the gums more sensitive, and gingivitis develop very fast. People with diabetes or cancer are also prone for gum infection due to reduced immunity to fight against infection. Dry mouth can also leave the oral cavity more vulnerable to infections. Regular brushing, flossing and cleaning by the dentist can help to prevent it. Smoking is strongly tied to gum disease, and less strongly linked to breast cancer. There is still much to understand about the role of oral bacteria and breast cancer. It’s too early to say that treating or preventing gum disease lowers breast cancer risk. We are just starting to understand how important the gut microbiome is to general health Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/drzulfiquar Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/drzulfiquarahmed Google+: https://plus.google.com/+ZulfiquarAhmed Website: http://www.drzulfiquar.com
