How to Balance Your Hormones Naturally

03:11
What Are Hormones? We hear a lot about hormones and how they affect our mood and behavior, but what are they, exactly? Let’s explore. Hormones are important chemical messengers that affect our bodies in myriad ways throughout our lives. They influence our growth and development, our mood, our sexual function and enjoyment, our reproductive health, and even our energy and metabolism. In short, these chemicals are critical to virtually all aspects of our health and development. Where Are Hormones Produced? Hormones are produced in the body’s endocrine glands. These include the pituitary gland, the pancreas, the Pineal gland, the thyroid gland, the adrenal glands, the ovaries in females, and the testes in males. Tips for Natural Hormone Balance Natural hormone balance is possible without taking risky synthetic hormones, which can have many negative side effects. To balance hormones naturally, avoid contact with toxins in household chemicals, get lots of sleep, meditate and do deep breathing exercises, quit smoking, drink alcohol responsibly, and exercise often. Eat Lots of Foods with Phytoestrogens Certain foods can also help you balance your hormones naturally, especially foods with Phytoestrogens. These include legumes, flax, sunflower seeds, edamame, tofu, tempeh, bean sprouts, and miso. Eat low-fat, high-calcium foods, and reduce your consumption of high omega-6 polyunsaturated fats. Why Reduce Your Intake of Omega-6 Polyunsaturated Fats? Well, consider that ninety-seven percent of the fat in our bodies is composed of saturated and monounsaturated fats, while just three percent is composed of polyunsaturated fats. Diets high in omega-6 polyunsaturated fats may contribute to hormone imbalance. Make sure to incorporate good fats into your diet, including those from olive oil, fish, real dairy butter, and coconut oil. Avoid bad fats, including margarine, canola oil, peanut oil, and vegetable oil. Herbal Remedies for Hormone Balance Certain natural supplements may also help balance your hormones. These include Tongkat Ali, Vitamins A, D, and K, Tribulus, fermented cod liver oil, maca root, gelatin, Omega-3, and Shatavari. It’s clear that hormones play a vital role in keeping us healthy, happy, and well. Follow these tips to help balance your hormones naturally. There are clinical studies showing this.1-6 THC, the active ingredient in pot… can decreases LH and FSH, which signals your testes to produce LESS testosterone. 1-6 It also negatively affects female hormones (estrogen and prolactin), stress hormones (cortisol and adrenals) and growth hormones.1-6 All of this could result in muscle loss, fat gain, depression, “man boobs”, impotence and similar negative effects.1-6 Obviously, smoking pot once in awhile isn’t going to cause long-term issues with your testosterone. However, there are studies showing that “chronic” usage can cause problems. Plus, I’ve seen the negative effects with my clients and professional athletes - both in performance and blood tests. Now, I’m not here to tell you to stop using marijuana - this is your life, I’m not here to judge it. I just want you to be as healthy AND happy as possible. Obviously, the less drugs the better. However, If you’re worried about your testosterone levels - whether you smoke pot or you want to continue using marijuana ... or you just want to improve your performance, look young, increase your drive and feel better - than make sure: Eat well - less processed foods. Exercise - lifting weights is the best. Sleep as needed - at least 6-7 hours. Take specific herbs, vitamins and minerals that can double or even triple your testosterone levels NATURALLY … ======================================== Thank you for watching. What Happens When You Quit Smoking?

03:50
What Happens When You Quit Smoking. Subscribe To My Channel (https://goo.gl/MQA6z9) ............................... What happens when you quit smoking. There are a lot of reasons to quit smoking. It's expensive, it makes your hair and clothes reek, and, honestly, it's just so 90s. But the biggest reason to butt out? Obviously, your health. You already know that smoking kills, but you may not realize just how dramatically quitting smoking can improve how you feel. You'll go through physical withdrawal. Time to rip off the band-aid: Quitting smoking can really suck in the beginning. People may not realize how addictive nicotine is until they stop using it. If you're quitting smoking cold turkey, it may be a tough time, at least in the beginning. Physical symptoms of withdrawal include headaches (that are suspected to be a result of stress) , dizziness (from a drop in blood pressure and heart rate) , fatigue, hunger, nausea, and coughing. You may also have an increased appetite and have trouble sleeping. All of these symptoms subside over time, usually sometime between a few weeks to nine months, depending on how much and how long you've been smoking. You'll go through psychological withdrawal, too. you may also face some psychological withdrawal symptoms. Mood swings, depression, confusion, a shortened attention span, jitters, irritability, and powerful cravings – both for cigarettes and for food – can be expected. Just remember: All of this is temporary! For most smokers, psychological withdrawal symptoms start to fade after about two weeks, and they'll likely be completely gone in nine months. Your blood circulation improves. Get this: Just two hours after you quit smoking, your blood circulation improves drastically. Nicotine raises your heart rate and blood pressure, and within just hours of quitting (sometimes just 30 minutes) , your heart rate and blood pressure lower to a normal, healthy rate. Your stroke risk drops dramatically. Smoking increases your risk of suffering a stroke by narrowing your blood vessels, which hinders your blood circulation to your brain. Though it's a gradual improvement, know that within 18 months to 15 years after you quit smoking (depending on how much, how often, and how long you smoked) , your stroke risk drops back down to that of a non-smoker. It's also important to note that if you're on hormonal birth control, you should not smoke under any circumstances as these combined behaviors present a potentially deadly stroke risk. You'll breathe a lot better. The good news: Your lungs will start improving in as little as a few weeks to a few months after you quit smoking. Norman Edelman, the chief medical officer of the American Lung Association, explained that within this period, "The little hair-like projections in the airways that we call cilia – which are paralyzed by smoke – begin to work again. Breathing will get better. Exercise capacity will get better." Food tastes better. Since your sense of smell improves when you quick smoking, this directly connects to your sense of taste, which can dramatically improve within days. Studies show that smokers' sense of taste is diminished and they have limited taste bud regeneration, especially with bitter flavors. When you quit smoking, you're much more likely to really savor your morning coffee, whose flavor is particularly dulled for tobacco users. Thanks For Watching. Subscribe For More Videos. Why Do People Get Thyroid Problems? - Sadhguru

15:18
Sadhguru looks at the reason behind the widespread manifestation of thyroid imbalance in the world today. Sadhguru Talks @ Isha Yoga Center, Mar 2017 **************************************** Transcript: http://isha.sadhguru.org/blog/video/why-do-people-get-thyroid-problems/ Questioner: Sadhguru, these days, many people are diagnosed with thyroid problems, either hypothyroidism or… hyper or hypothyroidism. Even though we are consuming iodized salt, still thyroid problems are prevalent. What is the cause for the increase in these problems? Is it stress-related like diabetes or hypertension? Can we overcome these conditions with hatha yoga, or kriya, or being in a consecrated space like Isha Yoga Center? What are the things we can do to come out of it? Sadhguru: I think a whole lot of people have come out of it with hatha yoga practice, no question about it. Being in a consecrated place definitely adds to it. But, this pretty widespread manifestation of thyroid imbalance. See, we must understand this. What you’re calling as thyroid - in yoga, we don’t look at the glands like that but medically, what you’re calling as thyroid is that secretion within you, which is trying to calibrate your system on a daily basis. It’s just calibrating how much digestion should happen, how much energy should be produced, how much fat should be produced, how much muscle should be built, everything, it’s trying to calibrate your physical structure. Your physical structure is very closely related to your psychological structure. Today, there is substantial evidence to show you that if you sit here and think of the mountain, your glandular function will happen in a certain way, if you think about a tiger, it’ll happen another way, you think about a ocean, it’ll happen another way, you think of a man or a woman, it’ll happen another way. Just a thought – nothing, no contact with mountain, no contact with tiger, no contact with man, woman or ocean – just a thought will fluctuate the glandular function. I’m saying that is how fine the system is that it is trying to calibrate everything to keep you in a good place. The problem with you is you need a bullock cart because you are the missing link (Laughs). You need a bullock cart but they gave you a fine spaceship, tch. Every little thing will do a world of things. Simply if you touch it, it’ll go boom, waves of stuff happening in the system. Simply if you look like this (Gestures) and make one conclusion about the tree, this (Referring to oneself) will go into many varieties of chemical and other kinds of variations. Glandular functions will change. Wherever you may be, whether you’re in Mumbai, or New York, or London, wherever – just look at the situation in which you’re walking. Maybe socially, you’ve gotten used to those things. But look at the kind of atmosphere you’re walking in, the number of things that are happening. None of them are conducive for this life (Referring to oneself). You might have gotten adjusted to it, maybe now you can’t live out of those cities, that’s another matter but the life that you are, is not seeking that kind of atmosphere. So the number of variations that are happening within you are not in your favor. Glandular dysfunction is just one manifestation. A very highly calibrated function of glandular function, one thing is the thyroid. It’s easily noticeable, the first thing, your physiological and psychological parameters get thrown off a bit, simply because disturbance. And another dimension is what’s the disturbance that’s happening from within you – your own psychological patterns. Another dimension of disturbance is what kind of food is getting into you. There is no way you can eat anything today, which is not chemically infested. If you’re eating very organic food, it’s little organic chemicals they’re using. It’s come to that place (A participant laughs). It’s very difficult to eat something that’s just grown in the wild forest, you can pluck out something and eat. That’s very, very little. Not even a small percentage of people are... Science Explains How Much Sleep You Need Depending on Your Age

09:21
How to Get Enough Sleep for Your Age. People usually think that 7–8 hours of sleep is enough, but that's not always the case. In fact, the number of hours you need to enjoy proper sleep depends and stay healthy depends on your age. Follow some simple rules to restore energy and get the most out of your recharge time. What happens when you experience a lack of sleep 1:09 If you constantly feel sleepy, are easily irritated, feel exhausted during the day, or often yawn, you most likely suffer from sleep deprivation. Not getting enough sleep also increases the risk of developing the following problems and diseases: exhaustion, depression, changes in hormone function, cardiovascular diseases, visual impairment, and diabetes. How much sleep is needed for your age 3:44 Scientists have established the connection between age and the required number of hours a person needs to have a good night’s sleep. Newborns 0–3 months old need about 14–17 hours of sleep daily. If you're the parent of a 1- or 2-year-old toddler, make sure they sleep for no less than 11–14 hours every day. Kids from 6 to 13 years old still need more sleep than adults: 9–11 hours. Young adults of 18–25 years old need less sleep: just 7–9 hours every day. The same can be said about adults between 26 and 64 years of age: 7–9 hours are enough for them to rest. Elderly people older than 65 sleep even less: 7–8 hours a day. Each person has individual needs, which may change these numbers. People who are sick, stressed, or, on the contrary, extremely active need more sleep to recharge. There are several ways to quit smoking but some methods are far superior than others. Proven methods to help you along the path to quitting smoking, is most beneficial. Then when a smoker tries to quit, there are such unpleasant withdrawal symptoms that some strive to smoke to stave off withdrawal. Studies reveal that those who are successful in kicking the habit have to address the physical and the emotional components of nicotine dependence. When you inhale cigarette smoke it goes deeply into the lungs and then the bloodstream absorbs it quickly. It is then carried to all parts of your body. But when a smoker puts down that cigarettes, the nicotine has been shown to decrease in the smokers body. The pleasant feeling quickly begins to wear off. Nicotine is addictive because it boosts chemicals in the brain, such as dopamine, which creates a pleasurable feeling and can stave off unpleasant feelings. But after some time, as with any drug, the user starts to develop tolerance. This is because after a period of smoking the brain becomes under-stimulated in the reward center and the smoker must have more and more of the nicotine to get the same desired effect. This is why smokers start to get irritated and on edge. These feelings can be averted when the smoker starts to smoke again. A major reason why smokers smoke, even when they are trying their best to quit is the lack of nicotine in their body creates these withdrawal symptoms. Some of these symptoms include both physical manifestations such as headaches, dizziness, chest tightness and mental states, such as anxiety, irritability and frustration. Is smoking a risk factor for autoimmune diseases? The immune system is the body’s way of protecting itself from infection and disease. Smoking compromises the immune system, making smokers more likely to have respiratory infections. Smoking also causes several autoimmune diseases, including Crohn’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. It may also play a role in periodic flare-ups of signs and symptoms of autoimmune diseases. Smoking doubles your risk of developing rheumatoid arthritis. Smoking has recently been linked to type 2 diabetes, also known as adult-onset diabetes. Smokers are 30% to 40% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes than nonsmokers. Additionally, the more cigarettes an individual smokes, the higher the risk for diabetes. Recent studies show a direct relationship between tobacco use and decreased bone density. Smoking is one of many factors—including weight, alcohol consumption, and activity level—that increase your risk for osteoporosis, a condition in which bones weaken and become more likely to fracture. Significant bone loss has been found in older women and men who smoke. Quitting smoking appears to reduce the risk for low bone mass and fractures. However, it may take several years to lower a former smoker’s risk. In addition, smoking from an early age puts women at even higher risk for osteoporosis. Smoking lowers the level of the hormone estrogen in your body, which can cause you to go through menopause earlier, boosting your risk for osteoporosis. Back to top How does smoking affect my heart and blood vessels? The chemicals in tobacco smoke harm your blood cells and damage the function of your heart. This damage increases your risk for: Atherosclerosis, a disease in which a waxy substance called plaque builds up in your arteries Aneurysms, which are bulging blood vessels that can burst and cause death Cardiovascular disease (CVD), which includes: Coronary heart disease (CHD), narrow or blocked arteries around the heart Heart attack and damage to your arteries Heart-related chest pain High blood pressure Coronary Heart disease, where platelets—components in the blood—stick together along with proteins for form clots which can then get stuck in the plaque in the walls of arteries and cause heart attacks Peripheral arterial disease (PAD), a condition in which plaque builds up in the arteries that carry blood to the head, organs, and limbs Stroke, which is sudden death of brain cells caused by blood clots or bleeding Breathing tobacco smoke can even change your blood chemistry and damage your blood vessels. As you inhale smoke, cells that line your body’s blood vessels react to its chemicals. Your heart rate and blood pressure go up and your blood vessels thicken and narrow.

7 Lifestyle Changes That Will Clean Your Arteries Naturally And Protect You From Heart Attack

03:39
this video is about 7 Lifestyle Changes That Will Clean Your Arteries Naturally And Protect You From Heart-attack Improving your cardiovascular health by clearing plaque buildup from arteries is a sure-fire way to decrease your risk of serious heart disease or stroke.  While there are surgeries and medications available that might do the trick, most of them come with some form of side-effect which can make you feel sick or weak for years of your life. Here are 7 ways to unclog your arteries by making simple changes to your lifestyle. 1.Stop smoking. The chemicals in cigarette and other tobacco smoke damage your blood cells, as well as disrupting the function of your heart and blood vessels. Each of these things leads to the buildup of plaque (atherosclerosis). Quitting smoking is one of the best steps you can take for the health of your heart and lungs. 2.Get more exercise. Exercise has a cascading effect that helps with a variety of the conditions that lead to clogged arteries. Regular exercise helps you lose excess weight, relieves high blood pressure, and lowers LDL (“bad”) cholesterol. If you’re new to an exercise regimen, you may need to start slower. Consult your doctor to set up an exercise plan appropriate for you. try Aerobic, Aerobic exercise is anything that gets your heart rate up. 3. Maintain a healthy weight. The changes to your diet and physical activity will go a long way toward bringing you down to a healthy weight. You can set an actual goal for your weight using the body mass index (BMI), which uses your weight and height to estimate your body fat percentage. Aim for the normal range, which is between 18.5 and 24.9 on the index. 4. Manage your stress levels. Experiencing high levels of stress releases stress hormones in your body that can have a chronic inflammatory effect, ultimately increasing your risk of atherosclerosis. If you experience high stress levels at work or at home, then it’s important to have proper coping mechanisms to relax and reduce this risk. Steps you can take to reduce stress include: • Increasing your level of physical activity. • Meditation. • Calming activities such as yoga. • Enjoying music, movies, or other art that you find calming and peaceful. 5. Reduce your alcohol intake. Alcohol abuse puts you at a higher risk for atherosclerosis. Generally speaking, men should limit themselves to two alcoholic beverages a day, and women should limit themselves to one. 6. Manage your diabetes. Having type 2 diabetes puts you at an increased risk of atherosclerosis. If you are diabetic, stay on top of the disease by performing your blood glucose testing, managing your diet, and staying physically active. 7. See your doctor regularly. Your doctor will want to monitor your blood pressure, cholesterol, and triglyceride levels closely as you make changes to help bring them into a healthy range. Keep regular appointments to monitor these indicators and mark your progress. This video only showed the lifestyle changes and if you’re looking for foods and supplements that can help unclog your arteries check out our videos. Quitting Smoking-What you need to know

05:36
http://quittingsmoking101.org In order to enhance your length and quality of life quitting smoking can be one of the most important steps that you take. This is not a easy step for someone to do but it can be done. You need to know what you are up against in order to have the best chance of quitting and staying that way.You will need to know what you are up against, what your options are, and where to go for help. The reason why people have trouble quitting smoking is because of nicotine.Nicotine is a drug and it is found naturally in tobacco. It is as addictive to a person as heroin or cocaine.A person can over time become physically and emotionally addicted to nicotine.According to studies it has been shown that smokers must deal with both the physical and psychological (mental) dependency in order to quit and stay quit.Nicotine is carried deep into your lungs when you inhale smoke. It is then absorbed into the bloodstream and carried throughout your body.Nicotine can affect many parts of your body. These include your heart and blood vessels, your hormones, the way your body uses food(metabolism),and your brain. There are different factors that affect how long it takes the body to remove nicotine and its by-products.Regular smokers will still have nicotine or its by-products in their bodies for 3 or 4 days after stopping smoking.Nicotine will cause pleasant feelings that will make the smoker want to smoke more.It will also act as a depressant by interfering with the flow of information between nerve cells. As the nervous system adapts to nicotine the smoker will tend to increase the number of cigarettes that they smoke. This will increase the amount of nicotine that is in the smoker's blood. The nicotine that is inhaled in cigarette smoke will reach the brain faster than drugs entering the body through a IV.The smoker will eventually develop a tolerance to the drug.Over time the smoking will increase and make quitting smoking even harder. When smokers are trying to cut back or quit they will experience withdrawal symptoms.Withdrawals from quitting smoking is both physical and mental.During physical withdrawal the body will react to the absence of nicotine.Mental withdrawals are experienced by the smoker being faced with giving up a habit. This will call for them to have a major change in behavior. Both of these physical and mental factors need to be addressed before quitting smoking can be successful. Here's a good article on About.com over quit smoking ==> Right Here http://quittingsmoking101.org

Perhaps you can't party as hard as you once did, and the hangovers are getting worse. Maybe you've developed a beer belly. Possibly, there's a deeper issue at play, and you don't want your drinking to get out of hand before it's a problem—unless it already is and you just don't realize it. Whatever your circumstances are, you're here, and you're ready to kick the sauce. Let's break down what happens to your body once you quit drinking. 1. It may get worse before it gets better: If you are a heavy drinker, you may not be out of the woods after 48 hours. Between 48-72 hours is generally when the onset of 'delirium tremens' occurs for some. Delirium tremens is sudden confusion that may be paired with hallucinations, shaking, irregular heart rate, and an increase in body temperature, so high that it can sometimes lead to seizures. If you are a heavy drinker, it is important to detox from alcohol under the supervision of a medical professional, as the withdrawal from quitting cold turkey can lead to death. 2. Physical symptoms will subside: While hangover and withdrawal symptoms can be uncomfortable, and at times dangerous, the good news is, that after peaking at around 72 hours after the last drink, the last of these symptoms will generally start to subside. At this stage, your body begins to create a new equilibrium, that does not include alcohol and its effects. 3. You'll sleep better: It may take a week or two, but after you quit drinking you'll ultimately sleep better. According to research, drinking increases brain wave patterns, that usually happen when you're awake. In normal deep sleep, the brain activity is in delta waves. Consuming alcohol causes brain activity during sleep to happen in alpha waves. Alpha waves are generally only seen in brain activity when we're awake, but resting. We all know that resting on the couch isn't the same thing, as getting a good night's sleep, so it's no wonder that people who drink regularly often feel tired and fatigued during the day. 4. You'll lose weight: If you stop drinking and change nothing else about your diet, or level of activity, you're likely to lose weight. It's partially the simple concept of calorie counting—alcohol, especially beer, contains a lot of calories. A single IPA may have as many as 200 calories, and a margarita could have roughly 300. If you suddenly drop hundreds of calories a day, the pounds will drop off over time. Plus, you'll overeat less. Research shows a link between alcohol consumption and heightened senses. Being intoxicated sends the hypothalamus in the brain into high gear, which makes the body more sensitive to food smells. That, combined with alcohol's famous ability to remove inhibitions, leads to extra eating. 5. Your skin will look better: Alcohol is a diuretic, meaning it causes water to exit the body. Not so much "cause" as "force." In short, it's severely dehydrating. It decreases the production of a hormone that helps the body absorb and hold water. This is why water is needed during a hangover. Over time, less water in the body leads to noticeable effects, such as parched and dry-looking skin, rosy red cheeks, dandruff, and eczema. After kicking the sauce, you should see a vast improvement in the quality of your skin. THANKS FOR WATCHING MY VIDEO. Marijuana And Bodybuilding: Does Weed Affect Muscle Growth?

Does smoking pot in moderation have any direct physical effects on the body's muscle building and fat burning processes? I'm not here to advocate that anyone smoke or not smoke pot, and my only goal here is to give the objective facts as I see them. Also keep in mind that we're specifically discussing bodybuilding and marjiuana here and nothing else. Whatever other health effects it may or may not have are beyond the scope of this post. The main areas of concern when it comes to weed and bodybuilding revolve around levels of important hormones such as testosterone, growth hormone and estrogen. However, the current research that is available (references below) simply does not show any significant, long-lasting effects as a result of marijuana consumption. Testosterone: All we see here are short term decreases that return to baseline fairly quickly, and even when test levels do drop, they still stay within the normal range. Heavy ongoing use may be a different issue, but moderate use should not be an issue in this area. Growth Hormone: Decreases only occur when very large doses of pure THC are given. One study actually showed an increase in growth hormone levels as a result of smoking two joints. Estrogen: The results here are mixed, with some studies showing negative effects and others showing no effect. However, very large doses were used in the studies indicating that only heavy, frequent use would likely be a problem if at all. From a direct physical standpoint, I currently don't see any evidence to indicate that moderate marjiuana consumption would have any direct negative effect on your ability to build muscle or lose fat. Heavy frequent use may be another issue, but even then the research is inconclusive. The only situation where marijuana and bodybuilding would overlap is if it causes behavioural changes in you that then carry over to your fitness goals, such as over-eating or skipping workouts. In that case, obviously there would be consequences. However, if all else remains equal (training, nutrition, supplementation etc.), weed and bodybuilding don't seem to be connected in any measurable way from a pure physical standpoint. Trans Health. Smoking Drinking Eating On T.

08:53
How can I start eating a healthier diet? A healthy diet includes eating a variety of foods from the basic food groups: protein, such as meat, eggs, and legumes; dairy; fruits and vegetables; grains, such as breads and pasta; and fats and sweets. As simple as this sounds, it’s not always easy to get the nutrition you need. Tobacco has a negative effect on almost every organ of the body. According to the. Department of Health & Human Services, tobacco use is the leading preventable cause of death in the United States, resulting in more than 443,000 deaths each year. When alcohol is continuously consumed over a period of time it begins to affect the body in many ways. Alcohol consumption increases the risk of many cancers including liver, breast, esophagus, pancreas, mouth, larynx and pharynx. Alcohol use over time can also cause alcohol dependency, better known as alcoholism. Testosterone is one of the building blocks of human life. Without Testosterone, humans couldn't exist, because Testosterone is the male sex hormone which contributes to the growth, development, and maintenance of male form and function. Testosterone is also produced by women, but in much lower amounts. Testosterone belongs to a class of hormones known as Androgens, which are hormones (primarily associated with the male physiology) which activate Androgen Receptors. Testosterone is the most important Androgen, and the most potent.

Why Do Men Have Deeper Voices?

03:05
Cristen explains why male humans' voices generally get lower than female humans' during puberty. Learn more at HowStuffWorks.com: http://health.howstuffworks.com/sexual-health/male-reproductive-system/male-puberty2.htm Share on Facebook: https://goo.gl/HgvFuO Share on Twitter: https://goo.gl/LlTbnC Subscribe: http://goo.gl/ZYI7Gt Visit our site: http://www.brainstuffshow.com Hello, Brainstuff! I’m Cristen, and today we’re going to talk about the human voice. First off, let’s acknowledge that everyone is a special and unique butterknife, and there’s no rule about how men and women’s voices should sound. But on average, adult men’s voices have what’s known as a lower “fundamental frequency” than adult women’s voices. The fundamental frequency is simply the scientific term for how high or low a person’s natural speaking voice is. Sound frequency is measured in hertz, which means how many times something happens in one second. So a sound wave that vibrates 100 times per second produces a tone of 100 hertz. The more cycles per second, the higher the pitch. Babies usually cry at a frequency of around 500 hertz. Children have speaking frequencies in the range of 250 to 400 hertz. By the time of adulthood, however, men have an average fundamental frequency of about 125 hertz, and women about 200 hertz. What happened here? Why the big difference? To understand why men’s voices end up lower than women’s voices, we need to look at how the body produces sound. So let’s take a magical journey to the inside of your neck! Leading from your lungs to the cavity behind your mouth and nose is a pipeline called the trachea. You use it to breathe. At the top of the trachea is a hollow organ called the larynx, or in common parlance, “the voice box.” The larynx is also what allows us to make sound for talking or singing. To do this, you use your lungs to push a column of air through the larynx while using your laryngeal muscles to press together a pair of membranes called the vocal folds, or more commonly, your vocal cords. When you close the vocal folds like this, the air you push out through them makes them vibrate, and this vibration leads to sound. There are several factors that can all have some effect on the fundamental frequency of a person’s voice, like the size of the larynx and differential development of facial bones and cavities in the head, but the most important factor to talk about is the length of the vocal folds. If you pluck a string, the length of the string affects the frequency of the note that plays. Think about a guitar. When you press a string down to a higher fret on a guitar, you shorten the length of the part of the string that vibrates when you pluck it, and this produces a higher note. The same thing happens inside your larynx! The longer the vocal fold, the lower the note. During puberty, both boys and girls experience growth of the vocal folds, leading to lower voices. But the male hormone testosterone, which is released by the testicles during puberty, typically causes boys’ vocal folds to grow longer and thicker than girls’. On average, adult women have vocal folds somewhere around 10 millimeters long, while adult men have focal folds in the neighborhood of 16 millimeters. Consequently, women are up there on the upper frets soloing into oblivion like a high school kid who just learned to play “Eruption” by Van Halen, and men are letting the open strings ring like the intro to “Nothing Else Matters” by Metallica. Y’know? Y’know? Bonus! Everyone knows what happens when you inhale some helium from a party balloon or, you know, straight from an industrial helium transport truck – your voice pitch gets higher. This is because helium is less dense than air. But did you know you can reverse the effect and give yourself a deep, booming bridge-troll-voice by breathing a gas with a higher density than air, like xenon or sulfur hexafluoride? But remember, your body needs air to live, and breathing anything other than air can potentially be dangerous, so we don’t recommend trying this at home. Circulation. 2011;123:e609. ======================================= 🤦‍♂️ #1 Disease That Causes Erectile Dysfunction (ED) and Impotence ======================================= The first is hormonal imbalances and lower testosterone levels because of -Higher stress and faster pace lifestyle -Lack of key nutrients due to poor food production - pesticides, hormones in meats, etc. -Low physical activity and higher body fats Hormonal imbalances due to the environment and aging, causes physical symptoms of erectile problems, in addition to “emotional” problems with lowered sex drive, libido and the DESIRE to have sex. Remember, hormones affect you both physically and emotionally. However, there men who have ED, who have a normal sex drive and “desire”, but simply can’t get an erection or have difficulty maintaining it during sex. And in these situations, this tends to be more of a VASCULAR problem due to poor blood flow and circulation. What Causes ED? Remember, In order to achieve an erection, three conditions must occur: the nerves to the penis must be functioning properly the blood circulation to the penis must be adequate there must be a stimulus from the brain If there is something interfering with any or all of these conditions, a full erection will be prevented. #1 Disease That Causes ED There are different diseases that can cause erectile dysfunction. However, today I’m going to quickly discuss the #1 causing disease, which accounts for over 70% of physical-related causes of ED and that’s vascular disease!1,2 Simply stated, vascular diseases affect your blood vessels and restrict blood flow to your heart, brain and in the case of ED -- your penis. In fact, more specifically, atherosclerosis, which is the hardening of your arteries, accounts for almost 60% of ED cases in men over the age of 55!1,3 Erectile Dysfunction - A Sign Of Heart Disease? What’s interesting is that the newest research shows that men with ED typically also have heart problems.5 Thus, ED is a pre-warning sign that you may have a heart attack or stroke in the future because you have a buildup of plaque and calcium in your blood vessels.5 How To Improve Your Blood Flow The older we get, the worse your circulation becomes. This affects your entire body - from head to your two, inside and out. Remember, your blood contains oxygen, youthful hormones and nutrients to feed all of your cells. So you must improve your circulation for better health and longevity and this first starts with improving your lifestyle. This means: Reduce or eliminate fried fats. Eat natural, raw fats - raw nuts and seeds, avocados, extra virgin olive oil, fish oils and similar uncooked fats. Choose wild caught fish and cage-free poultry more often than red meat. Eliminate dairy, sugars and caffeine. Exercise more. If you smoke, quit. Lose extra weight. Eat more soluble fiber. Good sources are fruits, beans, peas, oats and fiber supplements. Manage stress and get more rest. These are the basics and I’m sure you already know most of these suggestions. Lifestyle improvements take time to see the benefits, so please be patient! However, you have to make the changes or else things will only get worse. Faster Results, With Less Effort Your next option if you want faster results with less effort, is to take specific herbs, vitamins and minerals. While also strengthening your vascular system and making your blood vessels and arteries more flexible, to help prevent a heart attack or stroke. This all translates to a healthier heart, mind and of course, better, harder and stronger erections. ======================================== Thank you for watching. 5 Things That Happen To Your Body When You Sleep

04:01
Ever given thought to what happens during your snooze sessions? You might not know this, but your body actually does a lot of crazy things the moment you fall into the arms of Morpheus. And there's a good chance that you've never heard about any of them until now. The good thing is, all the body processes are perfectly normal; well, except the rare exploding head syndrome — spoiler alert! Without further ado, let's check out a couple of things that happen to your body system when you hit the hay after a pretty long day. 1. Your Eyes Dart Back and Forth For starters, there are up to five stages of sleep, and each serves a specific purpose in keeping your brain and body in good shape. It's also good to point out that each stage is deeper than the former and you'll start all over again after passing through all five. For the most part, REM (rapid eye movement) is the last and most active phase — it typically starts 60 to 90 minutes after you fall asleep and you're likely to spend up to 20% of your time sleeping in this phase. Now, during REM sleep, your eyes dart quickly back and forth, but you won't even have an idea of what's going on because your mind is totally immersed in what Morpheus has in store for you. 2. Your Muscles are Temporarily Paralyzed With your eyes still twitching as a result of REM sleep, your limb muscles also get completely paralyzed — this is one paralysis you'll want to happen every night. It's what prevents from acting on whatever weird thing that's going on in your head in the middle of the night. It's important to note that this kind of paralysis is not the same as sleep paralysis which tends to occur for a few seconds or minutes after waking up in the morning. This particular disorder extends the normal paralysis that happens during sleep for a few scary moments after you awaken. It's common among people with narcolepsy, so you may want to head to the doctor's office if this happens to you. 3. Release of a Human Growth Hormone Hitting the hay also activates the production of a substance known as HGH hormone — it's what allows your bones, muscle, and tissue to regenerate. That's not all — the human growth hormone also promotes healing and cell renewal. Speaking of growth, you'll be glad to know that you get taller when you sleep at night and it's all thanks to this hormone! 4. Your Throat Narrows Falling into the arms of Morpheus changes your breathing pattern and decreases the size of your throat — it happens when your muscles relax. This is one of the reasons why your partner snores noisily! There's a good chance that the person's throat is way too narrow thus the annoying noises. It's however important to note that there are still other culprits including nasal obstruction and the like. 5. Your Kidney Slows Down What's the normal of the kidneys? As you probably guessed, it filters toxins out of the bloodstream and produces urine. Well, this function actually slows when you hit the hay, and that's why your urine looks a bit dark when you pee in the morning. Essentially, the filtering action of your kidneys slows down to reduce the production of urine. And that's it! As you can see, there are quite a few normal and bizarre things that happen when you shut your eyes and drift off to dreamland. Now, you know that there's more to hitting the hay than getting your beauty sleep! While there is a bit of a fight between low carb and high carb, the thing that deserves the most attention is quitting sugar, as cutting out refined sugars and processed foods is the most sure-fire way to improving health and regulating weight. The mindset and approach of really understanding how and why bad habits like this develop can be applied to all sorts of things (stop smoking etc ) 0:00 The "Why" is important 1:17 Sugar tells your brain to stay hungry 2:15 10 Most obese, lazy, and unhappy states 3:19 No Sugar does NOT mean No Happiness 5:07 How your Environment affects your brain 6:54 Deconstructing bad programming 7:26 Break bad habits by understanding them 9:03 Nostalgia isn't always good 9:44 How to control cravings with mindfulness 10:38 Sugar and your gut 12:35 Friends
