Do I have a stomach ulcer?

02:13
Many people associate stomach ulcers with stress and spicy foods. While these things probably don't help, most stomach ulcers are caused by a bacteria called Helicobacter pylori or by overuse of certain medications like aspirin and ibuprofen. An ulcer is an open painful sore that can be found in the stomach or the first part of the small intestines, called the duodenum. The normal stomach produces acid which helps digest food and kills most swallowed bacteria, but when the protective gel layer of the stomach is disrupted by medications or Helicobacter pylori, an ulcer can result. So how do you know if you have an ulcer? Let's give Michael here some Helicobacter pylori and a few extra doses of ibuprofen to find out. So Michael, how do you feel? Not so good? It looks like you have burning pain in the middle upper part of your belly, nausea and vomiting, decreased appetite, weight loss, and even what appears to be blood in your vomit and bowel movements. You better see a doctor. I would be willing to bet that your doctor will give you a long acting antacid and check you for Helicobacter pylori infection. He may even send you to a specialist who can perform an endoscopy. This lovely procedure involves pushing a tubelike camera through your mouth and investigating the stomach wall up close and personal. But don't worry, you'll be asleep during the procedure. Helicobacter pylori infection can be cured with antibiotics. Most stomach ulcers require treatment with antacids for several months or longer. Oh, and by the way, Michael, you may want to stop drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and drinking 4 cups of coffee per day. All of these things can make a stomach ulcer worse. So it looks like Michael is feeling better. That is good. Most stomach ulcers are easy to fix with medications, but complications can be serious. But don't take my word for it, talk to your doctor if you have any concerns. Michael K. Davis, MD The Impatient Doctor

Breaking News - How long should ibuprofen or paracetamol take to work?

01:49
As part of a weekly series, in association with LloydsPharmacy, Colin Dougall from LloydsPharmacy in Glasgow answers your common medicine queries...Q: How long should it take for ibuprofen or paracetamol to start working? You should start feeling the pain-killing effects of ibuprofen or paracetamol tablets about 30 minutes after taking them. This is the time it takes for them to be dissolved and absorbed by the stomach.Ibuprofen is also an anti-inflammatory and it can take up to three weeks to get the full anti-inflammatory benefits to relieve chronic conditions such as arthritis.Don't forget that ibuprofen should be taken with or after food to prevent it irritating the stomach lining.Q: Is there anything I can do to speed this up?Taking ibuprofen or paracetamol in a liquid, soluble or gel form can help - this is because gels or liquids are easier for the stomach to digest as the medicine is already dissolved so it can start working sooner. Intermittent Fasting: Top 5 Mistakes- Thomas DeLauer

08:36
Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Website: http://www.thomasdelauer.com Intermittent Fasting: Top 5 Mistakes- Thomas DeLauer… No Healthy Foods: At the end of a fast people will be hungry and, as a result, will make poor decisions on what to eat. Your stomach is like a muscle. When it's filled with large meals three times a day, the dispensability (amount your stomach walls can stretch) increases. When you head in the other direction - eating many small meals throughout the day - your stomach's capacity goes down. Intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, resulting in your stomach shrinking and less caloric intake. People will indulge in a less than healthy meal and feel overly full after – don’t have room for veggies as stomach shrinks. Less Calories: Most people who try intermittent fasting end up cutting weight. You might plan big meals, but consistently eating them is difficult in practice. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Most people lose weight while intermittent fasting because when they cut out meals, they don't make up for it with bigger meal sizes. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Creamer: A “fasted state” is merely a definition of a specific metabolic state — no food (calories) whatsoever in the gut. Any food or drink with a caloric value will cause a spike in insulin because insulin is the hormone that regulates whether you store fat or release it. In a fasting state, the metabolism draws a significant amount of its energy from stored fat, any small amount of calories coming in (cream in your coffee, for example) would nudge the body away from metabolizing fat until those calories are used up. Also breaking the long term effects of a fast. By maintaining low levels of insulin throughout your fast, you ensure that the body has a chance to release — and use — fat stores. Enough calories would elicit enough insulin that fat metabolism would diminish, since insulin discourages lipolysis (2) BCAAs: A 2011 study, from the Journal of Nutrition, looked at the effects of branched-chain amino acid supplementation on plasma concentrations of free amino acids, insulin, and energy substrates in a group of men aged 22-25. On the first day, the participants arrived at the laboratory after an overnight fast. A baseline blood samples was acquired and then the subjects consumed the beverage with 1 g of BCAAs. Seven additional blood samples were acquired during the subsequent 3 hrs. Five days later, the same participants repeated the procedure with a beverage containing 5 g BCAAs. Found that plasma insulin levels transiently spiked after BCAA ingestion and spikes in insulin can be detrimental when fasting – halts the fat burnings effect (1) Study Links: For BCAA study: Full Study (Journal of Nutrition): http://jn.nutrition.org/content/136/1/324S.full Summarized versions: http://easacademy.org/research-news/article/effects-of-branched-chain-amino-acid-supplementation-on-plasma-concentrations-of-free-amino-acids-i https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21512300 Drinking Enough Water: When fasting, your body goes through a process known as apoptosis where your body doesn’t have to digest food, so it begins getting rid of dead or broken cells. Without enough water, your body is unable to transport and excrete what it needs to. On top of that, the majority of your energy needs are being supplied by breaking down fat stores during the fast . Fat is the storage site for most toxins your body encounters, and releasing a bunch of this fat will also release a bunch of toxins in your bloodstream. Mineral Consumption: Adding the right kind of salt, in the form of sea salt, to your diet during your fasting eating period is important when reducing caloric intake because every structure and function of the body needs minerals to function properly. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) DESCRIPTION: Sweet red bing cherries may act as a selective COX-2 inhibitor, reducing inflammation without the damage to our stomach and gut lining caused by NSAID drugs like ibuprofen. Here are the links to the videos I mentioned about tart pie cherries: Tart Cherries for Insomnia (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/tart-cherries-for-insomnia/) and Reducing Muscle Soreness with Berries (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/reducing-muscle-soreness-with-berries/). Here are two ways I incorporate cherries into my diet: Pink Juice with Green Foam (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/pink-juice-with-green-foam/) and Healthy Chocolate Milkshakes (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/healthy-chocolate-milkshakes/). Other studies in which anti-inflammatory drugs were compared natural dietary remedies include: Turmeric Curcumin and Osteoarthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/turmeric-curcumin-and-osteoarthritis/) and Turmeric Curcumin and Rheumatoid Arthritis (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/turmeric-curcumin-and-rheumatoid-arthritis/). Anti-inflammatory activity in a test tube is one thing, but can cherries actually be used clinically to treat inflammatory diseases? Stay tuned for my next video, Gout Treatment with a Cherry on Top (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/gout-treatment-with-a-cherry-on-top/). Have a question for Dr. Greger about this video? Workout Supplement and Vitamins (Jeff Cavaliere’s Exact Plan)

09:58
Get the same exact supplements I take here… http://athleanx.com/x/exact-supplements-i-use When it comes to workout supplements and vitamins, we all know there are thousands of choices. In this video, I cover the exact choices I make when it comes to the supplements I use to help me build muscle and stay lean year round. From the vitamins and minerals I take to the workout protein powders and formulas, everything I take in a day is covered and explained. For me, my morning starts with my essential fatty acids. I take both an omega-6 fatty acid in the form of evening primrose oil, as well as a high grade pharmaceutical omega-3 fish oil. The primrose is something I take because I tend to eat a very clean diet almost devoid of the highly processed foods that commonly are in abundance in the average diet. That combined with the fact that I carry a low body fat percentage year round, tends to make my essential omega-6’s that much more essential. I also have Reynaud’s, which is a form of impaired circulation to the hands and feet, that primrose oil has been shown to be helpful in treating. The omega-3’s are taken once in the morning, and again at lunch and at dinner. The grade of the oils is of prime importance when choosing an omega-3. Like prescription grade lovaza, Dr. C’s Omega-3’s are an incredibly potent form of essential fatty acids that have been shown to not only promote overall health and well being but also speed up muscle recovery by helping you recover from muscle inflammation. There is an entire blog devoted to this topic that you can read over at http://athleanx.com/articles/supplements-articles/build-muscle-with-omega-3s Next, I turn my attention to my antioxidants. I take 1500mg of vitamin C, 1000 iu of vitamin E, CoQ10 and green tea extract to meet these needs here. As I point out in the video, I do get adequate levels of both C and E in y diet, however I still take these as an insurance policy and investment in my own health. Just be sure that you don’t take too much vitamin E as it is a fat soluble vitamin that can be taken in excess and not easily removed from the body. Green tea extract provides additional blood sugar stabilizing effects via it’s impact on insulin sensitivity and therefore finds it’s way into my daily supplement regime every morning. Each of the above vitamins are taken once with breakfast as described in the video. Next I take the ultimate insurance policy, a multivitamin. I believe again that while we tend to get the majority of our major vitamins from food, we do not necessarily address all of our micronutrient needs (especially if we tend to follow somewhat restrictive eating plans or styles) so I feel more comfortable taking a multi as a backup. One of the most important areas of late for me has been joint recovery supplementation. Having dealt with a bad right shoulder from a torn labrum, as well as two bad knees, I not only felt the need to take but actually set out and developed what I feel is the absolute most comprehensive joint recovery formula available. ATHLEAN-Rx MECHAN-X is a must take supplement for anyone training in pain or discomfort. You won’t believe how much you can compromise your gains in the gym by trying to train around pain. If you address the pain at it’s source, which is what MECHAN-X does, you can get back to seeing uncompromised gains in both strength and muscle. Finally, all of my workout supplementation needs are addressed in my ATHLEAN-Rx 1,2,3 bundle. From pre workout to post workout to nighttime muscle repair, everything I need is in those 3 bottles. Unlike vitamins, I don’t believe that all of your workout ergogenic needs can be met through food, at least without any consistency needed to see steady results. Each of my supplements contains everything your body needs exactly when it needs it surrounding your workout. These are all available at http:/athleanx.com For more videos on workout supplements and workout nutrition be sure to subscribe to our channel here on youtube at http://youtube.com/user/jdcav24

Q&A - 462- Low Mood, Eating Just Fruit, Heart Problems, Chest Injury.

01:03:28
01:54 - I wanted to know if Dr. Morse has ever discussed on youtube the comment from people…We're all going to die sometime". 10:37 - Oli - I started the fruit diet about 3 months ago. Im 34 yo female, I've been working night shifts on and off for 10 years. I'm constantly tired and have a low mood and been feeling so for many years. Sleeping 10-12h daily but still tired. Been over emotional for all my life, had some bad depressions as well. Occasional migraines, painful periods, burping after all foods and even after just water, frequent urination, very low libido, both progesterone and estrogen much lower than a norm. Some spider veins, blemishes, cellulite, bruise easily… 37:30 - I have the book We Want To Live by Aajonus Vonderplanitz, great book. Aajonus says that eating fruit will cleanse the body, but eating fruit only will cause bones, teeth, nerves, and tissues to deteriorate, and also people on fruit diets only, lack focus and clarity and are excessively emotional. 39:47 - i really like your videos and what you do to help people. I am from Albania and have a question about my father, he is 66 years old and has heart problems throw the years, calcification of one valve and heart failure, aritmia and lung and legs edemas. He has difficulties of breathing and insomnia. Maybe he has stress too because of the loss of his son from stomach cancer 3 months ago. Doctor gave him antibiotics, diuretics and blood thinner and said maybe he need surgery of the heart… 49:05 - My daughter has high BP, high cholesterol fat LIVER… protein in urine. She is now eating raw vegan mostly. 53:17 - Liam - Just want to say thanks for all the help you give everyone. I am a 22 year old male farmer and 2 and a half years ago I injured my chest playing contact sport. I went to the doctor about 3 months later as the injury didn't heal. The doctor got x-rays done and nothing showed up so he told me that it was something i would probably just have to live with and to just take a pandol or nuronfen (ibuprofen) if the pain got to much. I played sport again the next year taking the pandol before most games which never really did anything. At the end of that year i went back to the doctor and this time he decided to sent me to a chest specialist who told me to take lyrica (pregabalin) as he thought i had a small crack in the cartridge near the manubriosternal joint going off a CT scan i had done. I didn't want to take the lyrica so i went to another specialist who gave me a Cortisone injection near the joint which helped for about 4 weeks before wearing off and making the pain come back much worse to the point i could barely get out of a chair. I then went to another specialist who got a MRI done which showed up that i had heavy inflammation in my manubriosternal joint. Cartilage, bone, joint tissue was all inflammed with a small amount of fluid in the joint.

How to Get Rid of Bloating in 15 Minutes

03:05
Do you suddenly feel like your pants are getting tighter or your stomach is about to explode? If you're not the kind of person who normally eats a lot, or if you can get full on small portions, feeling bloated isn't normal for you. Bloating can have many causes: being intolerant to certain foods, stomach allergies that irritate the mucous membranes, or even digestive problems. So it makes sense that lots of people that suffer from bloating are lactose intolerant. Apart from paying more attention to what you eat and how your diet affects your stomach, there are other things that you can do to get rid of bloating. Follow the tips we're about to give you in this video to lessen this uncomfortable feeling. If you're not constipated, consuming more fiber may actually worsen your situation. People with normal bowel movements should temporarily avoid fiber rich foods, especially if your bloating is accompanied by a lot of gas. Chew slowly Whenever you eat very quickly, you end up swallowing too much air every time you take a bite, causing it to get stuck in your stomach and fight to get out. The same thing happens whenever you drink through a straw. Cook your vegetables Eating raw vegetables is better for our body than eating them cooked, but if you’re feeling very bloated, cooked vegetables are the best alternative. Non-cooked foods can cause bloating, because they take longer to digest. Avoid drinks that give you gas Acidic or carbonated drinks can be prejudicial to your health, especially if you're struggling with bloating. Coffee, tea, juice, and alcoholic beverages are all examples of drinks that can give you gas. Sodas that are made with artificial sweeteners such as sorbitol and xylitol also have the same effect. Avoid fatty foods Fried and fatty foods are the hardest to digest, and because of this, they irritate your stomach and make it feel heavy. There are foods that contain fats that are beneficial to our bodies, and don't cause bloating or indigestion, such as the avocado. We recommend that you cutback on your fatty food intake and eat more fruits and vegetables. Food allergies You should also make sure that your bloating isn't being caused by any allergy or intolerance that you may have, since lactose intolerant people often have this problem. They don't have the necessary enzyme to break up the sugar present in lactose; therefore, they feel discomfort and swelling. In that case it’s best to avoid milk and its derivatives. To lessen the discomfort caused by your diet, try using the recipe we are about to show you. We are going to teach you how to make a drink that lessens stomach discomfort quickly and efficiently: Ingredients: 140 g of papaya 1 tablespoon of aloe vera gel 1 tablespoon of dried fennel seeds 1 cup of water Instructions: Let the fennel seeds steep for 20 minutes. Once the time is up, blend the fennel seed infusion with the papaya and aloe vera gel for a few seconds, then drink the mixture.

Stomach Ulcer Animation - Peptic Ulcer Disease Causes, Symptoms, Treatment - Gastric Anatomy

01:09
The stomach is the organ of the digestive system in which food travels from the esophagus and is further broken down before its nutrients are absorbed in the small intestine. It produces acid and various enzymes that break down food into simple substances. The inside wall of the stomach is protected from the acid and enzymes by a mucous lining. Ulcers are caused when there is an imbalance between the digestive juices produced by the stomach and the various factors that protect the lining of the stomach. Symptoms of ulcers may include bleeding. On rare occasions, an ulcer may completely erode the stomach wall. A major cause of stomach ulcers is the bacteria called Helicobacter pylori. Treatment regimens for ulcers caused this bacterium usually include medications to suppress the stomach acid as well as antibiotics to eradicate the infection. -------------------------------------- Peptic ulcer A peptic ulcer is a distinct breach in the mucosal lining of the stomach (gastric ulcer) or the first part of the small intestine (duodenal ulcer),[1] a result of caustic effects of acid and pepsin in the lumen. Histologically, peptic ulcer is identified as necrosis of the mucosa which produces lesions equal to or greater than 0.5 cm (1/5"). It is the most common ulcer of an area of the gastrointestinal tract that is usually acidic and thus extremely painful. Helicobacter pylori is one of the most common causes of peptic ulcer. Ulcers can also be caused or worsened by drugs such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and other NSAIDs.[2] Four times as many peptic ulcers arise in the duodenum—the first part of the small intestine, just beyond the stomach—as in the stomach itself. About 4% of gastric ulcers are caused by a malignant tumor, so multiple biopsies are needed to exclude cancer. Duodenal ulcers are generally benign. The appearance of an ulcer can be either the classic erosive, concave, crater-like ulcer (the image held by most patients) or convex, perhaps resembling a colonic polyp. As a generalization, the erosive concave type tend to be located in the stomach proper while the convex type tend to be found in the pylorus/duodenum. These convex growths have an extensive variety of shapes and forms, but in all forms the ulcer projects above the level of the surrounding tissue. For extended periods these growths characteristically lack any surface breaks in the mucosic tissue and also initially lack any visual differentiation from the surrounding tissue even in larger sizes. The surface integrity for this type ulcer enables growth over extended periods without the pain associated with crater ulcers. This site reference,[3] contains a series of convex ulcer photos. The images display a range from normal appearing growths to quite abnormal appearances. But notably, until the advanced growth stages non-crater, convex ulcers lack any surface cratering or breaks in the mucosa. While these convex growths resemble a tumour to some extent, they are actually abnormal growths of the gastric tissue, and involve the mucosa, submucosa, muscularis, and serosa layers, not a pathogenic organism. However, these growths, like crater style ulcers, may metamorph into pathogenic growths.

How to Prevent an Upset Stomach

Watch more Digestion & Stomach Problems videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/218020-How-to-Prevent-an-Upset-Stomach Put down that donut. Tweak a few unhealthy habits, and you can beat those chronic stomach problems before they flare up. Step 1: Start a food diary Start a food diary and make a note every time a food irritates your stomach. Step 2: Exercise Exercise 30-60 minutes a day to maintain a healthy weight and reduce stress. Even a short walk after dinner will help. Step 3: Eat smaller meals Eat smaller meals and avoid alcohol, cigarettes, and regular use of pain relievers such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and naproxen, which can inflame the stomach lining. Step 4: Eat fermented food Whenever you indulge in a meal of fatty or fried foods, try to also eat fermented foods like pickles, sauerkraut, kimchi, tempeh, and yogurt. The bacteria in these products help break down and absorb fatty foods that are difficult to digest. Tip Some yoga poses aid digestion by increasing blood flow to the digestive system. Step 5: Drink herbal tea Drink soothing herbal drinks, such as ginger or chamomile teas, rice water, or apple cider. Step 6: Eat raw or steamed vegetables Eat raw or steamed vegetables. Cooked veggies are depleted of some of the enzymes that benefit digestion. Step 7: See a doctor If you still experience frequent upset stomach, see a doctor about possible food allergies, ulcers, or other conditions that irritate the gastrointestinal tract and need further treatment. Did You Know? Abdominal pain can stem from a pinched nerve in the spine.

Treatment For Crohn's Disease

04:06
https://askthenurseexpert.com/category/crohns-disease -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tip number 1. Start with the basics. Most people with Crohn’s disease find that they feel better if they eat small amounts more frequently throughout the day rather than several large meals. Avoid greasy or fatty foods, especially fried dishes. Cut down on milk and dairy products, which can be difficult to digest. Limit high-fiber foods and those that are more difficult to digest, like popcorn, seeds, and nuts. Tip number 2. Work with a dietitian or nutritionist. You may want to avoid certain foods or food groups that you know exacerbate your symptoms during flares. However, when you eliminate entire food groups from your diet, you run the risk of malnutrition. A nutritionist or dietitian can help you create a nutritious meal plan that avoids the foods that bother you. Tip number 3. Limit caffeine. Like alcohol, caffeine can aggravate some Crohn’s disease symptoms, including diarrhea. Caffeine is in coffee, tea, chocolate, and some sodas. Carefully read the labels of foods and beverages you buy to check for caffeine content. Caffeine before bed also can interfere with sleep, so if you drink caffeine be sure to stop early in the day. Tip number 4. Stick to your treatment plan. You may want to skip your medications when you are feeling better, but you risk a flare if you do. It is important to take your medications according to your doctor’s directions. Tip number 5. Avoid over-the-counter anti-inflammatory drugs. Many people with Crohn’s disease also have arthritis and may want to take a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug, such as ibuprofen or naproxen, for the pain. But over-the-counter medications, aside from acetaminophen, are generally bad for Crohn’s disease. Another reason to avoid these pain relievers They can cause ulcers in the lining of your intestines. Tip number 6. Be careful about antibiotics. Antibiotics can sometimes cause Crohn’s symptoms to flare. Tip number 7. Protect against bone loss. Crohn’s disease and some of its treatments can increase your risk of developing osteoporosis, which makes bones weak and fragile, increasing the risk of fractures. Talk to your doctor or a nutritionist about how to get enough calcium, vitamin D, and any other nutrients in your diet to help keep your bones strong. Tip number 8. Get screened for colon cancer. Having Crohn’s disease increases your risk of developing colon cancer, so it is important to have regular colonoscopies to check for any signs of the disease. Tip number 9. Get immunized. To stay healthy, consider being vaccinated against the flu, pneumonia, and human papilloma virus, as well as hepatitis A and B. Tip number 10. Start a journal. One way that helps many people with Crohn’s disease manage their lives better is by keeping a journal. Include what you eat, when you eat, when you exercise, when you experience stress, and anything else that affects you and your Crohn’s disease symptoms. Tip number 11. Check in with your doctor regularly. If you are feeling well, you may only need to see your doctor twice a year. But if you are experiencing flares frequently, you may need to schedule an appointment more often, possibly to adjust your treatment. Never change your medication dosage, scheduling, or any other aspect of your health plan on your own. This could have dangerous results.

5 Things You Should Not Do Before Exercise |

02:57
5 Things You Should Not Do Before Exercise 1. Drink Too Much Water You may think you'll hydrate your body before a sweat-it-out session, but in reality, drinking more than two glasses of water before hitting the gym could do more harm than help. All that H2O mixed with sprints and jumps could cause cramps, nausea, and in rare cases, a condition called hyponatremia, where your blood gets diluted and your body's sodium ion levels drop too low. The result? Loss of energy, cramps, and severe weakness. 2. Eat Before a Workout (Versus After) When you eat right before a gym sesh, you don't give your body enough time to digest the food, and that could make you throw up. And if your meal was spicy, that could lead to acid reflux or heartburn during your workout. Experts agree it's best to save that meal for after your workout when your body needs the nutrition and can digest food well. 3. Take a Painkiller What's that headache or sore muscle pill got to do with your treadmill, you ask? For one, most painkillers are muscle relaxants, so taking one before your workout means you won't be getting the best out of your session. But even more serious is this: popping an anti-inflammatory pill like ibuprofen before exercising could cause injury to the small intestine, found studies. 4. Drink Alcohol Yes, even that glass of wine at lunch. Alcohol can lower your blood-sugar levels, and cause dehydration in many people. And a combo of booze and exercise could lead to severe shakiness and weakness...and a sub par workout. 5. Static Stretching That basically means stretching muscles while the body is at rest (for instance, touching your toes and holding for a few seconds). A few years ago, this was the recommended warm-up, but a slew of recent studies say a static stretch does more harm than help. In fact, doing it before your workout could actually make you slow and weak. Stretching is still important, of course, but save it for after your workout,

Please visit: http://www.diseasesandtreatment.com for more information about diseases and treatment option. A peptic ulcer is a sore in the lining of your stomach or your duodenum, the first part of your small intestine. A burning stomach pain is the most common symptom. The pain Starts between meals or during the night Briefly stops if you eat or take antacids Lasts for minutes to hours Comes and goes for several days or weeks Peptic ulcers happen when the acids that help you digest food damage the walls of the stomach or duodenum. The most common cause is infection with a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori. Another cause is the long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) such as aspirin and ibuprofen. Stress and spicy foods do not cause ulcers, but can make them worse.

03:00
Diwali Fireworks Burns and Safety Tips. Check for not doing wrong First aids. Immediate Treatment Steps for Burns 1.quickly run cool water over the burn long enough to cool the area and relieve the pain. 2.Do not use ice on a burn. It may delay healing. 3.Also, do not rub a burn; it can increase blistering. 4.Cool any smoldering clothing immediately by soaking with water, then remove any clothing from the burned area unless it is stuck firmly to the skin. In that case, cut away as much clothing as possible. 5.If the injured area is not oozing, cover the burn with a sterile gauze pad or a clean, dry cloth. 6.If the burn is oozing, cover it lightly with sterile gauze if available and immediately seek medical attention. If sterile gauze is not available, cover burns with a clean sheet or towel. 7.Do not put butter, grease, or powder on a burn. All of these so-called home remedies actually can make the injury worse. For anything more serious than a superficial burn, or if redness and pain continue for more than a few hours, consult a physician. All electrical burns and burns of the hands, mouth, or genitals should receive immediate medical attention. Chemicals that cause burns also may be absorbed through the skin and cause other symptoms. Call the Poison Help Line (1-800-222-1222) or your pediatrician after washing off all the chemicals. Under the following circumstances, hospitalization may be necessary: •If the burns are third degree. •If 10% or more of the body is burned. •If the burn involves the face, hands, feet, or genitals, or involves a moving joint. •If the child is very young or fussy, and therefore too difficult to treat at home. What to do for a fireworks eye injury If an eye injury from fireworks occurs, remember: • Seek medical attention immediately. • Do not rub your eyes. • Do not rinse your eyes. • Do not apply pressure. • Do not remove any objects that are stuck in the eye. • Do not apply ointments or take any blood-thinning pain medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen. 4-wk Ck-up(#20)Hyster/Losing weight/cervical cancer frm HPV-16

01:14
Why don't I feel better? I took my list of questions. Q: *Not sleeping *Discomfort lying down *Endless Dull Pain *When to lift and return to my nanny job *Swimming? A: “It takes some patients longer, so at 6-weeks start returning to normal activity, swimming too. Some resume earlier, everyone is different.” Q: When will the surgical tape wear-off the incisions, one is off now. A: Anytime. It will happen naturally. Bathing is not a problem for the tape nor is your heating pad. Q: HPV testing for mouth, just to give me peace of mind. A: Can do the swab here, now, and then call for an appt. with Dentist... he has the “special light” for oral cancer screening. (The light is called a Velscope) Q: Hot Flashes, on and off all day and night, cure? A: Naturally (Herbal Hormone Balance) Take Estrotone by New Chapter. (Yes, I have it. I have not resumed my vitamins since surgery because digestion’s been too difficult. Q: Night Sweats? I’ve had two so far. A: Post surgery is normal to experience them, they probably won’t continue. Extremely happy to have my check-up with my regular OB specialist who has been monitoring my cells for the last 2-yrs. My belly is sore! I am extremely uncomfortable! I don't walk normal, very slow. I hate to bend, that just acts things up inside. And... I am avoiding scar tissue to the max.) Left with a refill on my 600mg Ibuprofen. (It only takes a tiny edge off.) It does not help me sleep. Ug! I hate this discomfort. But, it keeps me down and resting. If I felt better I may do more, too soon. I'd be at the beach every day if I felt better. I have not seen the beach since my surgery. Leaving the house does not feel comfortable. My weight 122, lost a pound. That’s because I’m keeping my diet super simple for digestion purposes. Spaghetti squash, my dark greens, papaya for breakfast. (Bananas not yet, my stomach hates to digest them!) Black cherries and berries for snacks. Cottage cheese and peaches when I take a pill so it does not burn my stomach, or blueberries. Today was a rough day, didn't want to leave the house. I think the healing inside is making me uncomfortable. I can't seem to get comfortable. I can only take my mind off of it by puzzling and watching a movie. It's affecting my editing. My concentration is off. I read the same paragraph over and over and I'm getting nowhere. I just wish for some good days! (I had "tiny" spotting yesterday so she did a urine test to make sure there is no infection. That was the first I saw any blood. I pray there is nothing wrong. My level of discomfort should just be normal even tho it feels like I got shot up by 5 bullets! My left side bears all the pain. My top incision on the left is my worst area. OOUUUCCCCHHHH!!!!!!) Still not driving. My editor takes me on all my appointments and errands. Opens my car door, pushes the grocery cart, carries in my groceries, takes my trash out. Refills my water jugs. Helps me cook. Takes my videos. He is my rock! I could not handle this recovery alone. Mahalo Bruce! "My God-sent angel!" I'm lucky he's retired!!! Today we had lunch in the hospitol cafe, just behind me in the video. Our hospital prepares amazing meals, and it's very well known! When they serve their grilled Ahi, and that special sauce... aw, you want to get there before it runs out. Urine result was good. No infection. She has me monitoring my water intake "to drink more". And paying attention to any pain at release. So, now, I fill up five "GLASS" Voss bottles and make sure I have drank them all by the end of the day.

"3 Sets of 12" is KILLING Your Gains!!

08:25
Build a ripped, athletic body - http://athleanx.com/x/be-jacked Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW Performing 3 sets of 12 reps for the exercises your workout is likely killing your gains. Now, don’t get me wrong…I actually like the 10-12 rep range when it comes to building muscle and when the goal is muscle hypertrophy. The problem is, the focus is misdirected as it often times gets put on the number of reps and not the quality of the reps or the time it takes you to perform them. Let me explain. The genesis of the whole 10-12 rep recommendation for muscle growth actually came from the time under tension that that number of reps would equate to if you performed them with the right tempo. If you did an explosive one second up on the concentric portion of the lift and a slow eccentric lowering of 3 seconds on the way down (another way to increase the tension on the working muscle) then you would be at 4 seconds per rep which would equate to 40-48 seconds of tension in that set. Research shows that crossing the threshold of 45 seconds is important, and when paired with a high intensity effort which brings you to failure beyond this point can lead to more impressive muscle gains. What winds up happening however is that we don’t perform our reps at this speed and we end up performing them much faster. As you can see in this set of dumbbell incline bench press performed by Jesse, he finishes the set in just 26 seconds. But that is lost on most people that lift weights and train and instead they focus on the number of reps and doing anything they can to reach that goal number to determine whether or not their set was a success or conducive to new growth. Big mistake. If you were performing a set and noticed after completing three perfectly performed reps that there was no way you were going to be able to maintain that form for the entire set of 12 reps so you shortened your range of motion, that would be a critical mistake. What you wind up with is sub maximal reps at every point in along the way to twelve as explained in the video. Instead, you would want to accept the fact that you were not going to be able to make it and just do as many reps as you could until reaching failure. Each one would be performed as hard and with as most effort as you could generate. If the number wound up falling drastically short of the twelve that you set out to do you could always drop the weight on the subsequent sets to get you back into that range. If you picked a weight that happened to be too light and didn’t take you close to failure, you would want to continue to rep out no matter how many reps it took to eventually get you to failure and then adjust the weights up on a subsequent set. Alternatively you could stop the set at 12 reps if you knew you were far too light on the weights and consider it a warmup set and then adjust the weights up and start again. Either way, the point is not to focus on the number of the reps since after all, your muscles can’t count they can only feel tension. If you are skirting tension in an effort to reach a magic number I can guarantee you are shortchanging the amount of muscle that you can ultimately build in your workouts. Focus always on finding ways to direct more tension to the muscles that you are trying to grow instead of avoiding it and you will be much happier with your overall results.
