In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Foods to Fight Premature Ejaculation A relationship can be a beautiful thing, but, sometimes, it can also bring havoc and heartbreak to a person’s life. While, some relationship end because the two partners simply are not satisfied with each other. Sexual disorder is a common issue that causes problems to arise in a relationship. This includes disorders such as erectile dysfunction, a lack of libido and, of course, premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation is a very common sexual issue that a lot of men suffer from. In fact, a research study by the Department of Urology at the University of North Carolina concluded that more than 30% of the global male population can be medically diagnosed with premature ejaculation. They continue to explain that premature ejaculation is classified as a condition that causes men to ejaculate before both partners have been fully satisfied. The New England Research Institutes completed an observational study in 2008 to determine the impact of this condition on the lives of men. What they found was that men who experience the symptoms of this condition often develop certain negative psychological traits that may have a significant impact on their quality of life. The negative psychological traits that men tend to develop when they experience these symptoms include signs of depression, distress, and anxiety. The condition itself, accompanied by these adverse effects, is reported also to have a negative impact on the relationship the man has with his partner. There are many ways in which a man can treat premature ejaculation. Since the condition has been classified as a medical condition, an additional amount of medicines and treatment methods have also been discovered and put into action. These may include specific exercises, behavioral techniques, counseling or certain medication, such as Dapoxetine, Silodosin, and Modafinil. Unfortunately, medical treatment methods may cause side-effects that are unpleasant. Fortunately, motherly nature has once again provided men with a natural solution to help them fight against the signs of such sexual disorder. We are going to take a look at the five best vegetables, fruit and foods, which really combat premature ejaculation. #1. Spinach. A study that was conducted by the Kuwait University in Safat concluded that men who ejaculate sooner than expected have lower levels of magnesium than men who ejaculate after an adequate amount of time. Thus, magnesium plays an important role in ejaculations, and a deficiency of this mineral may cause men to experience symptoms of premature ejaculation. One cup of cooked spinach contains 39% of the recommended daily magnesium intake; this is highest in magnesium levels. Make spinach part of your diet on a regular basis to up your magnesium intake. This may help you experience a relief in some of the symptoms you are facing. Spinach also contains vitamin K, vitamin A, manganese, folate and various other nutrients that are beneficial to human health. #2. Oysters. While depression and anxiety are often associated with each other, they are not always present at the same time. A person may experience symptoms of anxiety without being diagnosed with depression. Anxiety is also one of the factors that may contribute towards ejaculating before both partners have been satisfied. In 2011, the Pfeiffer Treatment Center linked a low level of zinc towards a higher prevalence of anxiety disorders. Oysters are rich in various nutrients, but they are very popular for their zinc content. Consuming a larger amount of oysters will help to increase zinc levels, which may relief some of the symptoms a man is experiencing. In addition to its zinc content, oysters are also excellent for increasing a man’s sex drive rather quickly. #3. Watermelon. Premature ejaculation is sometimes accompanied by another sexual disorder known as erectile dysfunction. In fact, erectile dysfunction may cause the symptoms of premature ejaculation to become worse. Watermelon contains a lot of phytonutrients, a group of antioxidants that improves vasodilation and supplies more blood to the penis. By eating more watermelon, erectile dysfunction can be treated through a natural remedy, which may also help men to find relief of the symptom of premature ejaculation. #4. Almonds. Free radicals are frequently created in the body and may lead to the weakening of pelvic muscles. When this happens, symptoms of this sexual disorder can worsen, and men may find that they ejaculate sooner than before. One of the best vitamins to fight against free radical damage is vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant. We loved it. It combined two of the things we are working to accomplish -- inviting people to classical music and inspiring young musicians. Steven Sharp Nelson had soloed with the orchestra the previous year and loved the spirit and the talent that the orchestra showed at such young ages (ages 13-18!) Together we developed the concept of "Beethoven's 5 Secrets," combining OneRepublic's tune "Secrets" with melodies and moments from all four movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony. We used 5 different melodies from the 4 movements of Beethoven's 5th Symphony (not including the "bridge" the orchestra plays in the middle). Try to guess where they are and where they come from! What are Beethoven's secrets? He had many. His most prominent secret that he desperately tried to keep from the public and that caused him to be considered extremely eccentric, irritable, and hermit-like was his "weakness." He was deaf during most of his life. Imagine that...one of the greatest composers that ever lived could hardly hear. And yet, he wrote his life's greatest works after becoming deaf. He believed that art itself had "secrets" that had to be "forced into" in order to obtain art's highest level. There is no doubt Beethoven discovered many of the "secrets" of art -- people all over the world enjoy them every day. He was a true master of music, blessed by God. Story behind the song: So who doesn't love a story about an estranged ice princess, a dynamic mountain man/reindeer duo and a snowman obsessed with warm weather? We all loved the movie "Frozen" and its single, "Let It Go." So much emotion, energy and drama packed into one tune. But we thought we'd add a little more drama...by melting together "Let It Go" and themes from Vivaldi's classical piece, "Winter." (You can watch an impressive performance of the original here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yu6Hr9kd-U0 - see if you can find where we used the main themes from each of the three movements.) Vivaldi's almost reckless string motives helped us surround the determined, upbeat melody and chords from "Let It Go" with intensity and uncertainty. We wanted the music to alternate between "freezing" and "thawing," representing the opposing forces throughout the "Frozen" story. We were extra ambitious about capturing as much definition of the ice as possible so we decided to give 4K a try (a step up from 1080p HD) using the "RED" camera (same camera used in filming "The Hobbit"). So we called up our buddy Jacob Schwartz who rented us his awesome camera set up! It was challenging for Paul and Shaye to learn a whole new system and camera minutes before the shoot, but after awhile started getting the hang of it...:-) Editing the video on the other hand was a whole new process in processing that 4k footage. It took us 4 times as long to edit the video and fix glitches that kept happening working with such large files! After this experience, we might have to give 4k a try again, but not until we've mastered the art of it all which this video got us on the path at least. Camu-camu (Myrciaria dubia) is the edible fruit of a small bushy tree that grows on riversides in Brazil and Peru. In recent years, this tart little fruit has received a lot of attention from health conscious consumers looking to add more superfoods to their diets. In countries like the US and UK, camu-camu fruit is typically sold in health food stores in dried, powdered form, occasionally you may also find juice blends containing this exotic superfruit. Those who are convinced of the health benefits of the camu-camu fruit use dried camu-camu powder to improve the nutritional profile of smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, and homemade energy bars. Camu-Camu Provides Ellagic Acid, an Anti-Cancer Compound. Camu-camu has been shown to contain high amounts of ellagic acid. Ellagic acid is a powerful natural compound that has been shown to neutralize cancer-causing substances, boost the immune system, and promote self-destruction of cancerous cells in test tubes. Now that, of course, does not prove that camu-camu has anti-cancer activity in humans, but it certainly makes camu-camu stand out as an interesting subject for future studies. Camu-Camu Contains 40 Times as Much Vitamin C as Oranges. There are many health claims about camu-camu that have not been proven, but one thing we know for sure: this much-touted Brazilian superfood is right there on top of the list of the best food sources of vitamin C. It has been shown to contain even more vitamin C than acerola, acai berries, and guava, all of which are known for their extremely high vitamin C levels. The vitamin C levels in fresh camu-camu have been shown to range from about 1,882 milligrams to about 2,280 milligrams per 100 grams. That's about 40 times the amount of vitamin C found in regular oranges and nearly 80 times the amount found in mandarin oranges! As you may know, vitamin C helps keep your immune system, skin, bones, and teeth strong and healthy. This versatile nutrient has also been shown to act as a natural anti-histamine, and may therefore help alleviate certain types of allergic reactions. All this vitamin C also helps to block disease-causing inflammation from forming within the body, as do various other vitamins, amino acids and antioxidants found in camu camu. Lower inflammation means lower risk of disease. Vitamin C can act as an antioxidant which can help protect your body against cellular damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals may occur as by-products of normal metabolic processes. If your diet does not contain enough antioxidants, free radicals may increase your risk of degenerative diseases and speed up aging in general. A group of researchers from Japan recruited 20 male smokers and randomly assigned each man to one of two groups: The first group were instructed to consume 70 milligrams of 100% camu-camu juice daily, corresponding to 1,050 milligrams of vitamin C. The second group were asked to take vitamin tablets containing an equal amount of vitamin C. The results were surprising: the men in the vitamin C supplement group did not show an improvement in their oxidative stress levels at the dose used in this 7-day trial. By contrast, the men in the camu-camu group showed a significant drop in several markers of oxidative stress. Not only do these results imply that camu-camu has strong antioxidant properties, they also suggest that natural compounds other than vitamin C may be largely responsible for the antioxidant properties of camu-camu. Camu-camu, has been shown to contain anthocyanins along with other flavonoids. In addition, camu-camu contains carotenoids such as lutein. Sometimes called "the eye vitamin", lutein is often used as a preventive treatment for cataracts, age-related macular degeneration, retinitis pigmentosa, and other diseases affecting the eyes. A little bit of this superfood powder goes a long way with 1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon providing for your daily Vit. C requirements, depending on your calorie intake. Because it tends to have a sour slightly astringent taste it is often mixed into fruit-based smoothies, juices and sweet foods or desserts. #AskGojiMan I have been vegan for 6 months and am just wondering if you could explain what vegan nutrients I should be particularly careful about getting? My Dr is concerned about a few of my numbers. Great question Annabelle, lets get to it role the titles. Welcome back its good to see you all again. If we haven’t met before then I’m goji man. Im currently finishing a masters in nutrition and qualifying as a nutritionist and next year I’m doing a phd in nutritional science. I do daily videos in which I answer your health and nutrition questions under the # ask goji man. So if you have a question for me then #askgojiman in the comments below and I will pick one of these for my next video. So without further ado to the question. Now Annabelle for optimal health the body needs approximately 90 nutrients. 16 Vitamins, 12 amino acids 60 minerals and 2 essential fatty acids. But don’t worry I am not about to cover all 90 in this video. Here I will just cover off some of the main ones that you need to pay particular attention to to avoid winding up in your dr’s office. Some of these may not be the ones you automatically think of in terms of the vegan diet and deficiencies, but i guarantee if you are deficient in any of the nutrients covered in todays video it will put in you your dr’s office a lot quicker than a lot of the vegan nutrients often discussed such as protein. Also Stay around until the end of the video and ill also give you some of the factors that cause deficiency across all nutrients even though you maybe getting sufficient quantities in your diet. So if we start with Iron. Its the most common deficiency for both vegans and non vegans. Its needed to transport oxygen through the blood and also generate energy within the mitochondria which are the little power plants in your cells. Its also pivotal in the production of DNA and making T-Cells so really really important in your immune system. In terms of how much you need an average adult will need 8-9mg per day and women need around 15mg a day. Postmenopausal women should aim for around 9mg a day. Some good sources include lentils, chickpeas, beans, tofu, chia seeds, cashew nuts, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, kale and quinoa. Just to make you aware tea and coffee can make it difficult for your body to absorb iron so avoid these beverages around meal times. And to help your body absorb more iron then add vitamin c rich foods into your meal. Some good examples include broccoli, oranges, sprouts cabbage, pineapple, strawberries and grapefruit. Now in lots of plant based foods particularly beans, lentils and nuts there is a chemical called physic acid that that in some people can inhibit the absorption of iron. Now this will be a small proportion of people but if you have had issues with low iron before then you may want to consider soaking your nuts, beans and legumes overnight to reduce the physic acid. So some of the main deficiencies to look at for are fatigue, laboured or rapid breathing, fast heart rate and restless leg syndrome is also associated with iron deficiency. And you could also develop clarity and brain fog type issues if you are low in iron. Next up we have iodine. And this is one of those nutrients that never gets much attention in the vegan community but you better get a reliable source in your diet because deficiencies in this trace mineral will mess your health up massively. So its responsible for many many functions in the body particularly for making your thyroid hormones and also also controlling the speed of your metabolism and also the speed at which your cells operate. Plant based foods may contain small amounts but there is really know way of knowing how much iodine is in the food you are eating. So for me you have to regularly eat sea vegetables such as seaweed to guarantee a reliable source. Now there are other options such as supplements or iodised salt but I am really not a big fan of these for many different reasons from pollutants contained in the supplements and issues with the amount of salt you would need to consume to get sufficient iodine. In terms of how much you need men and women need approx 140 micrograms a day. So it really is a small amount. Now in terms of some of the factors that can reduce the amount of iodine your body is getting both stress and endocrine disrupters. So endocrine disrupters are things like pesticides and herbicides and also BPA from things like plastics. Also to note women with high oestrogen levels and those who are have taken the contraceptive pill can also run into problems with iodine. Deficiencies in iodine will cause symptoms such as swelling of the thyroid gland which is located at the bottom of the neck, tiredness, weight gain, constipation, body wide aches, dry skin and always feeling the cold.
