This is my experience and withdrawal symptoms coming off Citalopram 10mg. I take you on week 2 of my journey continuing from the last video. I DO NOT recommend going cold turkey when you decide to come off any antidepressants. You should always reduce your dose or take on alternate days. The medications I have taken are: sertraline (zoloft), mirtazapine, and citalopram. I talk about the side effects of each of these in my video "My Experience Taking ANTIDEPRESSANTS || Sertraline, Mirtazapine and Citalopram REVIEW" https://youtu.be/a6rNjMkvV0g ANTIDEPRESSANT WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS || My Experience Coming off Citalopram: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mb3_m-ROwd8 Anti depressants are such a controversial topic. Greetings from Berlin you guys! I finally made it :) So, withdrawal symptoms when quitting SSRIs include: - Anxiety - Depression and mood swings - Dizziness and balance problems, possibly vertigo - Electric shock sensations - Fatigue - Flu-like symptoms - Headache - Loss of coordination - Muscle spasms - Nausea - Nightmares - Tremors - Trouble sleeping - Vomiting ...And the list goes on. I have been struggling with brain zaps, decreased appetite and flu-like symptoms along with depersonalization and dizziness. The best recommendation I can give is to get lots of sleep, try and reduce stress as much as possible, eat healthy and drink loads of water. You might also want to reduce you physical activity or replace your usual excersize routine with a lighter one. If you feel too bad to tolerate the symptoms please contact your doctor, and also try to taper off your antidepressant gradually (your doctor will provide you with a scheme like this one: https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/how-to-taper-off-your-antidepressant) If you find yourself having suicidal ideations, thoughts or intentions please contact a help line: https://suicidepreventionlifeline.org Anyway, stay positive, healthy and happy! much love xx ___ instagram: https://www.instagram.com/a._fitz/ tumblr: https://www.tumblr.com/blog/annafitzgerald ___

To listen on iTunes, click here: For iTunes, click here: https://itunes.apple.com/gb/podcast/lets-talk-withdrawal-truth-about-antidepressant-drugs/id1212789850?mt=2 This week, we talk to Claire who shares her powerful story of being prescribed antidepressants at the age of 16 and her experiences of trying to withdraw. She describes how she tapered gradually over 2 years but went on to experience SSRI discontinuation syndrome. In this episode we discuss: How Claire was prescribed an antidepressant at a very early age. How she was told lies about a chemical imbalance to justify treatment and that she would need the drugs for life. That there was nothing by way of follow up after the antidepressant was prescribed unless Claire initiated a conversation with her doctors. That several antidepressants stopped working, forcing Claire to change medications. That several attempts to withdraw ended in failure because she was advised to withdraw too quickly and that reinstating a full dose was the only solution. That Claire felt trapped and like a prisoner, thinking she was stuck on the drugs for life and was she ever going to be able to get off them. That a very slow taper over two years was the only way for Claire to be able to tolerate the significant, widespread and very unpleasant physical and psychological effects of withdrawal. That Claire had to fight with doctors to get a liquid version of her medication which was the only way she could taper slowly. Claire's experience of SSRI discontinuation syndrome. That Facebook communities provided vital support to fill the gaping hole in mainstream medicines understanding and knowledge of prescribed drug dependance and withdrawal. Being told by doctors that Claire's experiences were not real and that she should be "over it in a few weeks" That mainstream medicine makes incorrect and dangerous assumptions about the length and severity of antidepressant withdrawal. Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome Was on Zoloft for about 4 months, 3 months later and off of the Anti-Depressive I'm still suffering from muscle spasms, sometimes worse at times. I hold a book up to show how shaky I am. I urge you not to take any medication for anxiety/depression as I'm an living example of the damage it can cause. More videos to follow covering Antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome.

UPDATE: I am now about 2 years off. doing much better than i was in this video but not fully healed. I've had lots of good comments, and lots of comments calling me a pussy. It's pretty funny honestly. People have asked what i'm feeling in this video, if it's just anxiety. It's not, it's severe pain and muscle tensing. I would feel what i thought was a hot knife travelling from my brain, down my neck, and it caused my entire body to tense up like there was acid or salt in my blood. The pressure and pain would travel down my neck into my back. I had about 5 of these episodes, this was the last one. I still have the feeling sometimes though. I used benzos for 5-6 years, on and off. Not knowing how much i was damaging myself. I reinstated 3 different times, and cold turkeyed twice. This video is my second cold turkey after my third reinstatement. I have many other videos documenting my withdrawal process. It has been hell, i've been to the darkest places of my mind and physical pain. But I push on, and won't give up, for my daughter. I love you Kyrie!

Please consult a health care professional for all mental and physical healthcare needs. I, Noah Thomas, have been legally prescribed antidepressants by a medical doctor for the treatment of diagnosed major depressive disorder. Please SHARE, LIKE, COMMENT, and even FAVORITE THIS VIDEO if you found it useful or if you know somebody who it may benefit. Thank you. MY STORY My name is Noah and on May 18 2011, I had a rare reaction to a vaccine called VIVITROL and consequently spiraled into a major, agitated, suicidal depression with depersonalization. I lost 25 lbs in 4 weeks and was in full panic or near panic for 8 weeks straight mixed with the darkest most painful depression I cold have ever imagined. I immediately could not work and had to move in with my parents who along with many siblings and friends had to watch me 24/7 as I was so suicidal. I was eventually hospitalized. Getting through each day seemed truly unbearable and I knew I would surely die. I have been put on many many different SSRI's SNRI's Tricyclics, Mood stabilizers, anti psychotics, holistic meds, acupuncture and even a form of shock therapy called RTMS. I barely saw any improvement in my condition for a full year. It was decided I had treatment resistant depression and I spent nearly every moment in tears. Weeks after starting my newest round of medications (Seroquel & Nortryptaline) as a last ditch effort, I had my blood drawn for possible hormone imbalances and my Testosterone levels came back 200 ng/Dl and 150 ng/Dl. The average 25 year old male has 750 ng/Dl. With this discovery I for the first time had any type of possible explanation as to why I was not getting better and why I might be so so sick. The symptoms of such Low T are very similar to those of major depression. I started Testosterone replacement therapy soon after and have been checking in with the world and documenting my experience with treatment as well as giving my insight and perspective on various topics of mental health. I am blessed to say that I have slowly, over the last 10 months, been improving and becoming more stable which I never thought to be possible. My low T manifested itself in the form of Major depression, anxiety, and depersonalization/ derealization for over a year. Gaining some mental stability back is nothing short of a miracle as I was near death for what felt like forever. I do not consider myself to be totally healed yet but I am closer now then ever before and aim to use what I have been through to help or at least offer support to others in need. I was able to successfully come off my Seroquel and am now tapering off my final antidepressant medication Pamelor.

For almost sixty years, patients have been iatrogenically injured by taken-as-prescribed benzodiazepines. When those patients develop adverse effects, tolerance, physical dependence, interdose withdrawal, and/or a withdrawal reaction or syndrome from the benzodiazepine medication, they often present to their doctor(s). Instead of receiving an accurate diagnosis and appropriate medical guidance, patients are often provided with inaccuracies and misinformation about the safety and proper use of the benzodiazepine medication they were prescribed. For World Benzodiazepine Awareness Day 2018, we asked those injured by as prescribed benzodiazepines to submit videos containing the myths and misinformation they were told by their doctor (or other medical providers) after reporting to them with benzodiazepine adverse effects, physical dependence, tolerance, interdose withdrawal, withdrawal reactions/syndromes, and/or protracted neurological insult. 3 sections in this video: 1. Some of the things that patients are told by their doctors. 2. Patients are misled by their doctors about the impact benzodiazepines can have on the body and reasonable expectations for withdrawal. 3. Some patients even report being told some things that, aside from being untrue, are downright bizarre. Due to ignorance and lack of proper education, these erroneous and dismissive statements that benzodiazepine-injured patients are being told is leaving them without proper medical support and guidance. This is dangerous and unacceptable, considering this drug class is one of if not the most dangerous to discontinue. Patients deserve better. What did your medical provider or doctor tell *you* about benzodiazepines? Tell us in the comments. ►Find W-BAD on Social Media: Facebook ► @WorldBenzoDay Twitter ► @WorldBenzoDay ►W-BAD on the web: w-bad.org *Special thanks to J.C. for editing this video

PLEASE GUYS COMMENTS ON THIS VIDEO OR ADVISES ARE WELCOME! If you're planning on taking this stuff, please don't do it unless absolutely necessary. I got emotionally and physically dependent on this crap up to the point where I can't just stop cold turkey anymore...The withdrawal is too horrible cold turkey... - Tapering off this stuff, I get these withdrawal effects: pounding headaches, light anxiety, panicky feeling, confusion, light acute psychosis(!) and feeling woozy, like I'm out of touch with reality, light heart palpitations, constipation, stomach aches. The time I was dumb and I didn't taper off, I got: debilitating anxiety, panic attacks, pounding heart, feeling like my body is dying every second, acute psychosis, inner agony, feeling like I'm losing it, etc. And as a last note: don't take this medication, unless all other options are exhausted to remove your anxiety or sleeping problems. And If you take this crap, do it only when absolutely necessary..

Again, I do NOT recommend anyone to do what I had done. It is not common that what I had done resulted in negative consequences but it carries possibility and do not take such a risk. Despite my stupidity and personal disgust over SSRI's and the lack of discontinuation "syndrome" acknowledgment and support by the very people that prescribe them, it is still best that you do seek counsel. Just advocate for you and your situation. I cannot stress this enough. Do not take risks when it comes to your life. What I had done, despite the fact I currently feel swell carries way too much of a risk for me to ethically recommend to anyone. The decision described in this vlog was due to the emotional, physical and mental strain of the withdrawal. Secondly, I truly recognized that I am needed by others, which only further shows how irresponsible this act of desperation was. SEEK MEDICAL AND/OR PSYCHIATRIC ATTENTION IF YOU HAVE SUICIDAL THOUGHTS, HOMICIDAL THOUGHTS, OR ANY SORT OF EXPERIENCES THAT MAKE YOU SUSPICIOUS THAT YOU HAVE EVEN THE SMALLEST CHANCE OF CAUSING HARM TO YOURSELF OR TO ANOTHER. PLEASE & THANK YOU. For those tapering and currently hurting from withdrawals from these SSRI's ... my heart goes out to you.

This is the 2nd video put together with the intentions of raising awareness of benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome. If you haven't watched the first, please do so. You can find it here: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1653647034669615&id=100000730041940 It's estimated 30% of people on this class of medication will suffer withdrawal symptoms just like we are. We took our medication as prescribed, we did NOT abuse and were not informed of the dangers. Physical Dependence is NOT addiction. We have been badly damaged by benzos. Meet Lucinda. Lucinda has been disabled by taking a benzodiazepine as prescribed. She was cold turkeyed from xanax (Alprazolam) after being on it for a few months for insomnia. She developed horrible new physical and mental symptoms from the cold turkey, including tremor and agoraphobia, leading to loss of employment. Unsurprising to anyone following the benzodiazepine epidemic, Lucinda cannot get any competent medical help for the intolerable symptoms caused by benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome.

All credit goes to RTD for making this eye opening documentary! More films about America: https://rtd.rt.com/tags/usa/ The US has a highly developed pharmaceutical industry offering treatments for all kinds of mental disorders. Millions of Americans are being medicated for ailments as diverse as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and many others. Even young children are being put on psychiatric drugs. If parents decline such treatment, social services may intervene. Many patients, who’ve been taking these pills for years, insist that they do more harm than good. They have experienced disturbing side effects such as suicidal thoughts, addiction and even neurological damage. A lot of patients were put on their medication as children and by the time they were legally old enough to decide for themselves, they had already become addicted. They testify that breaking their dependency on the drugs is extremely difficult because, like any habit forming narcotic, they cause severe withdrawal symptoms. RTD meets some of the sufferers to hear their stories of battling to shake off prescribed medicines. Father of 5, Josh, was given anxiety medication, it caused Akathisia and Dystonia. Both are physical disorders causing involuntary and uncontrolled body movement and have left him disabled. Olivia’s son was prescribed psychiatric drugs to treat Attention Deficit Disorder (ADHD). Olivia soon noticed side effects and refused to continue giving him the pills. He was taken by social services and hospitalised. Denis from Russia used to work for a pharmaceutical company in the US but after meeting his wife, who had suffered from the side effects of antidepressants for most of her life, he started questioning the necessity for such widespread psychiatric prescribing. Their claims are supported by lawyers and medical professionals. Psychiatrist Dr. Peter Breggin is a vocal critic of psychiatric medication. He is adamant that the drugs are toxic and that many problems people talk to physiatrists about can be treated without resorting to drugs. His book on how to stop taking psychiatric medicines has helped thousands of patients who have struggled with the challenge. RTD meets a few of them. Benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome—often abbreviated to benzo withdrawal—is the cluster of symptoms that emerge when a person who has taken benzodiazepines, either medically or recreationally, and has developed a physical dependence undergoes dosage reduction or discontinuation. Development of physical dependence and/or addiction and the resulting withdrawal symptoms, some of which may last for years, may result from either drug-seeking behaviors or from taking the medication as prescribed. Benzodiazepine withdrawal is characterized by sleep disturbance, irritability, increased tension and anxiety, panic attacks, hand tremor, sweating, difficulty with concentration, confusion and cognitive difficulty, memory problems, dry retching and nausea, weight loss, palpitations, headache, muscular pain and stiffness, a host of perceptual changes, hallucinations, seizures, psychosis, and suicide (see "Signs and Symptoms" section below for full list). Further, these symptoms are notable for the manner in which they wax and wane and vary in severity from day to day or week by week instead of steadily decreasing in a straightforward monotonic manner. It is a potentially serious condition, and is complex and often protracted in time course. Long-term use, defined as daily use for at least three months, is not desirable because of the associated increased risk of dependence, dose escalation, loss of efficacy, increased risk of accidents and falls, particularly for the elderly, as well as cognitive, neurological, and intellectual impairments. Use of short-acting hypnotics, while being effective at initiating sleep, worsen the second half of sleep due to withdrawal effects. Nevertheless, long-term users of benzodiazepines should not be forced to withdraw against their will. Benzodiazepine withdrawal can be severe and can provoke life-threatening withdrawal symptoms, such as seizures, particularly with abrupt or overly rapid dosage reduction from high doses or long time users. A severe withdrawal response can nevertheless occur despite gradual dose reduction, or from relatively low doses in short time users, even after a single large dose in animal models. A minority of individuals will experience a protracted withdrawal syndrome whose symptoms may persist at a sub-acute level for months, or years after cessation of benzodiazepines. The likelihood of developing a protracted withdrawal syndrome can be minimized by a slow, gradual reduction in dosage. Chronic exposure to benzodiazepines causes neural adaptations that counteract the drug's effects, leading to tolerance and dependence. Despite taking a constant therapeutic dose, long-term use of benzodiazepines may lead to the emergence of withdrawal-like symptoms, particularly between doses. When the drug is discontinued or the dosage reduced, withdrawal symptoms may appear and remain until the body reverses the physiological adaptations. These rebound symptoms may be identical to the symptoms for which the drug was initially taken, or may be part of discontinuation symptoms. In severe cases, the withdrawal reaction may exacerbate or resemble serious psychiatric and medical conditions, such as mania, schizophrenia, and, especially at high doses, seizure disorders. Failure to recognize discontinuation symptoms can lead to false evidence for the need to take benzodiazepines, which in turn leads to withdrawal failure and reinstatement of benzodiazepines, often to higher doses. Awareness of the withdrawal reactions, individualized taper strategies according to withdrawal severity, the addition of alternative strategies such as reassurance and referral to benzodiazepine withdrawal support groups, all increase the success rate of withdrawal. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzodiazepine_withdrawal_syndrome https://books.google.com/books?id=t9-vA3jzMhYC&pg=PA211&lpg=PA211&dq=ada+vs+ativan&source=bl&ots=ZM5nt_T0bg&sig=tJAIfPgOu8RRQfXiL5xCqZ9mgn0&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjM1tCftJvXAhXl44MKHZx1BgUQ6AEIRjAF#v=onepage&q=ada%20vs%20ativan&f=false https://www.benzoinfo.com/

Citalopram is prescribed for major depressive illness, panic disorder with or without agoraphobia, anxiety, body dysmorphic disorder, social phobia, premenstrual dysmorphic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, alcoholism, and eating disorders. Never stop taking citalopram suddenly as it may result in serious withdrawal symptoms (agitation, changes in mood, irritability). Diabetic patients taking citalopram should monitor their blood sugar level regularly as citalopram may alter blood sugar levels. Avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase the drowsiness caused by citalopram. Please help us translate this video in your language to make it more universal and useful to your language community. http://bodyhealthsoul.com/ | Common Methods of Depression Treatment-With their Side-Effects and Possible Withdrawal Symptoms Alright, we previously just went through the “Definition” of depression from the 2 sides of the Medical Fraternity. One side saying it’s a chemical imbalance and a ‘mental disorder’ and the other side saying (which I tend to agree with) that Depression is an emotional encumbrance as a result of external factors. But, let’s go over the common methods of treating depression, from the medical standpoint AND their alleged side effects. Folks, the usual method for dealing with depression is often times prescription meds or drugs, but like I have stated in several of my videos, MOST forms of medication do not deal with the ROOT CAUSE OF AN ISSUE but more so the SYMPTOMS. So what happens is a patient often times has to depend on medication for a long period of time. So, who really is profiting from this whole chain of events? Obviously it’s the maker of the drugs! IN FACT if you go to the website of one of the popular anti-depressant drugs, whose name I’m withholding for legal reasons it says: What is the most important information I should know about THIS PARTICULAR ANTI-DEPRESSANT® The response is-THIS DRUG and other antidepressant medicines may cause serious side effects, including: Suicidal thoughts or actions: THIS DRUG and other antidepressant medicines may increase suicidal thoughts or actions in some children, teenagers, or young adults within the first few months of treatment or when the dose is changed. So, in other words, what I am gathering from this is the side-effects of some of these popular anti-depressants are actually the same symptoms of depression! How contradictory and odd is that. Then, when some people are actually made aware of some of the side effects of these drugs, they panic naturally (like they should) and want to STOP using these drugs. But this leads to withdrawal symptoms. Well, let’s discuss this more in this video shall we?
