This is a kind of video response to a question I got from RadicalComedy about servicing her AC system. Keep in mind that this is a very basic overview of the components and operation of the AC system. In future installments I plan to get more in depth about the operation and function of these parts but for now I think 6 minutes of your time is enough. We have been using the NewAir 10100E Portable Air Conditioner to supplement the RV air conditioner in our 36 foot 5th wheel, and we love it! Check out www.thefreedomtheory.com/newair Use code COOLSUMMER for 20% off We have a 30 amp, 36 foot 5th wheel. It is a rear living model, which means that the main living area is surrounded by windows. We love the light and the views that all of the windows give us, but we don’t like the heat that comes with them. When the sun heats up they act like mini heaters! Sunset in Lubec, MaineSunset in Lubec, Maine, viewed from our back windows When we got into hot areas with no shade, like much of the south west, we were having to put reflectix in all of the windows. Even then, the temperatures reached 80 degrees in the main room. We were desperate to find a solution. We even had to change our travel plans for the summer of 2018 so that we would be in cooler climates. One option was to get a second air conditioner installed. Since we have a 30 amp rig the tech would have to drop the power cord for it through the bottom of the RV. We would then have to plug it into the 20amp receptacle on the power pedastal. We considered that, but it wouldn’t have solved our problem. A second a/c would only cool the bedroom. We needed a solution that would supplement the main a/c and help cool the entire rig. We also needed something that could cool at least one room of our RV very fast. We have a 4 month old so we take frequent stops while we travel. We needed to be able to come into the RV, turn on the generators and A/C, and have it quickly cool a room. Our main air conditioner simply couldn’t do it. That was when NewAir contacted us and asked us if we’d like to review one of their spot cooling options. We jumped on the chance to review the 10100E portable A/C, and we haven’t regretted it. Now when we come into the RV on a hot day it actually feels cool! Inside temperatures have gone from 80+ degrees down to 70. Features It only uses 1070 watts (10 amps) of power. A 30 amp rig can run it along with the main a/c. It can also run off a 2000 watt generator with power to spare. It doubles as a dehumidifier. It removes 4.6 pints of moisture per hour. Most of the moisture is vented out the exhaust. The small amount that remains is collected in a reservoir inside of the unit. It can be drained when it is full. It is compact, with dimensions (W x D x H) of 12.1″ x 15.1″ x 29.6″, and only weighs 50 pounds. It is highly portable. It has wheels and a carry handle. The exhaust vent is quite long, so we can roll it out of its corner and point it to different areas of the RV. It comes with a remote, and has quite a few extra options like sleep mode, timers, and a fan only mode. The power cord has an integrated GFCI, which greatly reduces the chance of electrical shock or fire. It has a built in air purifier in the form of a carbon filter. To clean it you simply remove the filter and wash it. I should also mention that there is the AC-10100H model. It has the same specifications as the 10100E, except it can double as a heater. That seems like a neat feature and we would have liked to test it, but unfortunately NewAir is out of stock at the time of this writing. They were expecting more soon, so if that feature interests you then check their web site to see if they have more in stock. We have enjoyed this air conditioner very much. It is compact, easy to transport, and does an excellent job cooling our RV. If you need a second air conditioner, or if you want a small air conditioner that you can run off a generator, then we hope that you consider purchasing the NewAir 10100E Portable Air Conditioner! Air conditioners represent a troubling paradox -: they cool indoor spaces, but they heat up the climate. Most air conditioning systems operate via coolants, which often emit greenhouse gases -- but not always. Indian manufacturing company Godrej is investing in eco-friendly propane for air conditioners instead of harmful fluorocarbons, or FC's. Propane presents a greener alternative and helps protect the ozone layer. That's especially important in India where some four million air conditioners are sold every year. Still, propane is flammable, and critics say Godrej's devices are dangerous for consumer use. The company is trying to reassure customers of their product safety by sending "Eco vans" throughout the country to distribute information.

You can also use it for studying, reading, homework, writer's block, etc. By the way, what's your favorite seat on the airplane? For instance, if I fly Southwest and can choose my seat, I always aim for the emergency exit row seats. They have so much more legroom. Also, there's one seat on each side of the aisle that has no seat in front of it, to make room in case people had to use the emergency exit. If you get that seat, you can recline your chair and stretch your legs out fully. Totally awesome. Okay, I'm curious to hear your seat favorites for long flights. DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME. This is just for entertainment and educational purposes only. In this video I'm just showing one way of getting 120v AC out of a car alternator with low rpm engine to generator setup. The wiring of the transformers and diagrams is not exactly correct you must wire them so they are in phase with each other, the transformers have a specific way you must wire them together. I could not show this because I am using homemade transformers on my working generator. You do not have to use transformers to get 120v out of an alternator if you spun it at high rpm's by using a large pulley on the engine but I am showing this at a lower rpm. I only build these projects as a hobby and I speed very little time building them as you can see.

Installing a window air conditioner is a pretty simple project and doing it correctly will make sure your AC is safe and working properly. First make sure you have a grounded three prong outlet. Make sure there is nothing outside the window that will affect air flow. Measure your window opening and have an idea of the size of the room you want to cool. Once you have your air conditioning unit, clean both sides of the window before installing. Unbox the AC unit, but keep the packaging for storage in the off season. Align the top rail with the holes on the AC unit and attach with the included screws. For the side filler panels, gently extend the panel, and insert the end all the way into the track. Insert the frame ends into the rails on the cabinet. Do the other side the same way. Set the unit in the window, making sure the bottom rail is against the outside edge of the window sill or frame. Lower the sash behind the top rail. Attach the side panels to the window frame. With the frame extended, position the lock, drill a pilot hole, and set with a screw. Drill holes and drive screws in the other clip and in the frame along the sash. Position the sash lock on the lower sash, drill a pilot hole and secure with the screw. Cut a foam window seal to length and insert between the upper and lower sashes. Go outside and make sure the unit leans back just a bit to allow for drainage. On the inside, use the weather seals to plug any gaps. Plug the unit in and press the reset button to supply power. • Link of our Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/DIY.Experiments.YouTube • Text of the video : Hi everyone, today we’ll show you how to make an inverter! An inverter provides power to objects working on alternating current with only a 12 V battery. First we’ll test our inverter on different devices then we’ll show you how to create yours. Let’s start with a simple test. We plug the terminals on the 12 V battery and then we switch on the inverter. The bulb, which normally works on AC with 230V and consumes 25 Watt, is now on as if it was plugged in the power outlet! Instead of using high consumption light bulbs, we can use economic light bulbs, here is a test with 36W, and as you see it works perfectly. Here is another test with our inverter; we will recharge at the same time an iPod, an iPhone and an iPad. When we switch on, there is enough energy remaining to light up a bulb. The inverter is compatible with every switching-mode power supply, even the most powerful ones. Now we will try to supply a stereo. I turn up the volume gradually. So obviously we can’t reach the volume’s maximum because the inverter can give only up to approximately 30 Watt while the stereo reaches 260 Watt when on maximum volume. There is black out? With the inverter we can supply energy to your room’s lamp. The soldering iron’s cable is too small? With the inverter, the cables are never too small ! Our inverter is made out of 3 parts: - We have a 50 Hz oscillator - 2 MOSFET transistors that amplify the signals - And a transformer We first have to make the oscillator which can be considered as an integral component. The positive terminal is placed in the upper position, while the negative one is in the lower position. It consumes 30mA under a 12 V current. On the sides it supplies a positive current on one side and a zero current on the other side, and vice-versa, with the frequency that we wish. To have a 50 or 60 Hz frequency, the mains frequency, we will give the specifications of the capacitors and resistances that we used at the end of the video. As for the transistors, we can consider it as an amplifier with 3 terminals: base collector and emitter. For the transistor that we are using, when there is a small current between the base and the transmitter, a much powerful current can flow between the collector and the emitter. For example, the current that flows through this resistance would have never been able to light the bulb, but thanks to the transistor, the signal that I’m doing can be reproduced in the bulb. In our inverter we use MOSFET transistors. They act like the other transistors except that their terminals are named Gate (G), Drain (D) and Source (S). The current that must flow between G and S to activate D and S can be very low. As long as there is more than about 4V between G and S, the other circuit is activated. As you can see the current that can flow through the body is enough to activate the MOSFET transistor! We use MOSFET transistor for our inverter because they need very low voltage between G and S to be activated which doesn’t affect the oscillator’s frequency. Since we use recycled components only, the MOSFETs even from different objects have relatively the same specifications, which is very important since the transistor have to be in perfect sync: there should be neither any dead time nor a time when both transistors are activated. We connect the two sides of the oscillator to the transistor’s G terminals. Since the frequency is 50 or 60Hz, each hundredth of a second the activated transistor changes. The transformer must have a 1 to 19 ratio so we can go from 12 V to 230 V, twice less to reach 110V. Since the primary coils are in opposite directions, the direction in which the induced current in the secondary coil flows is opposed to the one from either one of the primary coils. We have a 230 V and 50 Hz current, not really sinusoidal but ideal for supplying mains powered devices. Other tests: A last test with 24 V, this way we can have an 85 Watt power tested here with 2 bulbs: a 60 Watt bulb and a 25 Watt bulb fully lit. However, with 24 V the voltage isn’t stable and we can only obtain 230 V when we consume 85 Watt, and less we consume more the voltage is increasing, it can go up to 600 V on open circuit. We have to supply the circuit with 12 V which consumes 500 mA open and up to 7 A in short circuit with 230 V; this is why we use a big lead battery so that we can have a range of several hours. We have for example a range of 5 hours and a half with this 10 Watt bulb; we can also supply a 230 V laptop stereo with only two 9 V batteries, I switch it on and it works !

To build or design your own personal solar powered system, you will need to know how much energy you use on a daily basis. You must be able to calculate all your regular appliances into DC amps if you're going to be running off regular DC batteries. Then you can calculate amp hours and determine your system size, how many batteries you need and how many panels you'll need. Along with posting questions, answers and partaking on the RV living community at http://www.pippenings.com you can now read and comment on my personal blog which will features posts and topics ranging from RV DIY renovations to RV living to more Pippenings :) Join me there and be sure to get your "Keep It Simple" bumper sticker! This is the 52-quart, 24 volt unit. My boss and his guests were complaining about the heat back in the cabin area of the King Air B200. These airplanes are notorious for not having very strong a/c. We had been using the B-Kool air conditioner which you can actually see up against the wall of the hangar in some shots. The little guy did a stellar job but it was just too small for our larger cabin on a hot day and within 30 minutes, all of the ice in it was just water. Furthermore, it looked ugly... its just an ice chest with fans sticking out. The Arctic Air looks much nicer and has a larger capacity for longer periods of use. I also like that it has a drain tube so that I dont have to constantly place and replace it in the plane. Just drain and refill. Done. I don't like that it only comes with a 6' power cord. Sportys will try to sell you a 42" extension cable (which I think is actually an elongated 4-pin ATX connector commonly used in computers) for $25 each. No thanks. I bought one 5 meter and one 3 meter 24 volt car cigarette lighter extensions which I will just run from the cockpit outlet, between the wall and the seats, all the way back to the baggage compartment. The extensions were just $20 total on ebay. I couldn't find them at walmart or bestbuy. To buy the appropriate amount of ATX extensions from Sporty's would have been about $75. So without those extensions, it will have to sit on the divan as shown in the video and reduce our passenger capacity from 8 to 6. My plan is to always have it in the baggage compartment and run the power back to it. A little electrical tape to hold the extensions together probably wont hurt. I only put 3 bags of ice into it for the test run but it looks like it'll swallow 5 or 6 of them! On a flight day, I will connect the plane to the ground power and blast the arctic air for at least 40 minutes prior to go-time and report how it did. While researching Arctic Air, I called their sales line. None other than their owner/inventor picked up and was a delight to speak with. He offered to bring me a unit at no delivery cost if we flew into Tifton, GA. He also said that he will give you an air conditioner for FREE if you book a stay at one of his properties in the Bahamas. So that deal could save you a lot of $ if you are planning a trip out there. Just call the sales number listed at www.arcticaircooler.com and ask for Mr. Turton. Check out Nutnfancy's great review on my knife here: http://youtu.be/DD24HLC0Ydw I'll update with more videos as we get to use the Arctic Air in the field. Stay cool!

See The 9 Best Window Air Conditioners on Ezvid Wiki ►► https://wiki.ezvid.com/best-window-air-conditioners Fact #1. It's time to take control of the temp. We've all been there: you find the perfect apartment that's right by the office. But there's one last question: does it have air conditioning? We'd all love a place with central air, but those buildings can be expensive and inconvenient. Keep your low-cost pad without sweating like crazy in the summer heat by employing a window air conditioner to keep you cool. Fact #2. Simplicity means flexibility. These units are easy to install and can be placed anywhere in your home. If you spend most of your time in your bedroom, you can put it there. If you've got an open floor plan, it can provide cool air to your living room and your kitchen. It can even go right next to your bed so you don't have to get up to turn it on or off. Fact #3. Weather changes with the seasons. In the middle of summer, you'll do just about anything to cool down. But why let this thing just sit there in the autumn and winter? Get a model designed to provide heat when it's snowing outside so it's always useful. Fact #4. Check the amount of power. Air conditioners, like all appliances, must get their power from somewhere. Most units can be plugged into a conventional outlet. However, some require 230 volts like many refrigerators or other large machines. These models may require an electrician and might violate your lease, so check before you buy. Fact #5. Your windows shouldn't be open. The fact that these units rest on your windowsill is convenient, but you also don't want bugs or rodents coming in. A proper seal is vital so cool air doesn't escape, and anti-theft features will help to keep you from worrying.

Homemade Evaporative Air Cooler. Easy DIY. This "large-area" air cooler is capable of cooling multiple rooms - up to 30F lower than the initial "room temperature". Designed to be used with a standard 20" box fan. Run-time: 6-10 hours per fill-up (holds 3 gallons). all supplies are easily found at the home stores. Note: Check my youtube video page for the "extended version" of this video (includes complete building instructions w/extras). notes on construction: wood used; one 10 foot 2x3 (99.75" in total). twelve 2 1/2" wood screws. one heavy duty "CoolPad Ice" all season cooler pad. one roll (2ft by 5ft) of metal screen, called "hardware cloth". 5/8" vinyl tubing (1/2" internal diameter). 200GPH fountain pump (from harbor freight). one 2' long piece of pvc pipe (1/2" diameter). assorted pvc connectors. 1/8" drill bit for water holes. 7/8" spade bit to cut hole at top of wooden braces. one 24" long window box (7" high) from walmart. lastly, works best in semi-dry and dry climates *the drier the climate the better it performs - also, for best results, use a strong/powerful fan. tip: to dry out the cooler pad do not remove it. just shut off water pump and let fan run. it should be completely dry in 15 to 20 mins. only remove cooler pad when replacing it (once or twice a year - if you use heavy duty one). you may need to use some pvc pipe cement if there are any leaks (on non-threaded connections). about $4 a bottle. (i didn't need to use it.) you may need to use teflon tape on any connector that is threaded and leaking. cooler is totally self-contained and area around cooler stays completely dry. (ran it all day for 3 days and observed no water at all outside of the air cooler). **UPDATE (05/22/2018) If you like this vid....also check out my latest and greatest Large Area DIY Evap Air Cooler. here's the youtube video link https://youtu.be/xDze9f6Jx8Q

#Ductwork_Installation. #How_to_Install_Ductwork in a House. #DIY_CAM You will need some basic tools to perform your #air_duct_installation. Most of them are inexpensive and easy to learn how to use. The air duct installation process begins with proper hvac #duct_system design. This is a computerized process of determining the size of hvac equipment for the home as well as designing the duct system. The result is a duct layout plan which shows the size and location of ducts and registers for each level of the home. "Rough-in" Once you have your duct plan, the "rough-in" stage of #air_duct_installation can begin by cutting holes in the sub floor for the ducts and registers. The size and location of supply registers is shown on the duct plan. It is a good idea to keep the holes, for the supply registers, about three inches from the wall. The holes should be centered between the floor joists if possible. The holes for the return air are usually cut through the bottom plate of an interior wall and through the sub floor. A metal frame called a plaster frame is installed on the wall to make it easy to cut the drywall around the return air opening. It should be mounted about three inches from the top of the wall. After the holes are cut, the furnace/air handler and evaporator coil should be set in place. You can use our furnace installation guide to show you how. Next, the plenum is attached to the outlet of the evaporator or the furnace if you do not have a central ac system. The plenum is a metal box with one end open and one end closed. They usually are shipped in pieces and have to be assembled. This allows the supply ducts to be connected to the furnace. Once the plenum is installed, the square take-off collars can be installed. These fittings are attached to the plenum by cutting a hole and then inserting the tabbed portion in the hole. The tabs are bent over and metal screws are added to hold them in place. The collars should be installed so that the top of the #duct that connects to them will be just below the bottom of the floor joists. Installing the main trunk lines... The supply #air_duct_installation continues by connecting the metal ducts to the start collars. As the square ducts are installed, it is a good idea to measure and cut holes in the top of the #duct for the branch duct takeoffs. These branch duct takeoffs will be fittings that are attached to the top of the main duct and they fit in between the floor joists. Their base is square and their outlet is round. Like the main duct takeoffs, they have metal tabs to bend over to connect them. A screw should be added to each corner to make it secure. Periodically, a piece called a transition will be installed. This piece is used to go from one size of duct to a smaller size. The #ducts are supported about every eight feet with metal hangers. The ducts are connected to each other by a system known as "s" and "drives". "S" cleats are pieces of metal that are folded over themselves to make a slot for two ends of separate ducts. Each duct slides into a separate slot. They are usually installed on the top and bottom of the piece of duct. "Drives" are pieces of metal folded over on themselves and they slide on the sides of the duct to hold them together. Tabs on the drives are bent over after installation to hold them in place. 0:05 - Discription of #Ductwork_Installation; 2:45 - Result of #Ductwork_Installation.
