I make this on Sunday and eat a slice a day. Snack: 1 small Gala apple with almond or cashew butter Lunch: Blue Apron meal, this day I had spicy chicken with broccoli & it was so good!! I bake my salmon in foil for about 30 minutes at 325 and add in the asparagus the last 15 minutes of cooking Treat: Chocolate banana smoothie. 1/2 can of coconut milk, 1/2 cup water, ice, handful of dark chocolate covered almonds, 1 banana, 2 tbs peanut butter, 2 scoops orgain vanilla protein powder To drink I have water or unsweetened iced decaf green tea ♡ I N F O ♡ Hi guys! So just to clarify my situation - I was initially diagnosed with gestational diabetes but since I was a borderline case with no other risk factors I got a second opinion and they have since downgraded me to "insulin resistant with increased monitoring." I now keep a food log and meet with a nutritionist but I don't have to see a specialist or check my blood sugar 4-5x a day. Prior to this, I thought I had been eating healthy but I wasn't getting enough protein and I was eating too many refined carbs that were spiking my blood sugar and causing me to crash and be *extremely* tired and sluggish (which I thought was normal!). Papaya or papaya enzymes are sometimes recommended for soothing indigestion, which is common during pregnancy. Avoid pine apple. Eating pineapple during pregnancy is not good so resist yourself from consuming pineapple during pregnancy. Pineapples are rich in bromelain, which can cause the softening of the cervix leading to early labour. however its intake should be restricted,during the first trimester to avoid any unforeseen event such as softening of the cervix. Grapes While some medical professionals suggest that you avoid eating grapes during pregnancy,Most expert advice the former because of the amount of pesticides that are sprayed on grape plants to keep from being eaten away by insects. Moreoever, the main bone of contention is the high amount of resveratrol present in grapes. This chemical can cause toxicity for the expectant mother. The most important advice for pregnant women is to avoid unwashed and unpasteurised fruits during pregnancy. It is critical that food hygiene is given primal importance during pregnancy to avoid infections from toxoplasmosis. Here are some way to prepare safely: Thoroughly rinse raw fruits and vegetables under running water before eating or preparing them, especially fruits that require peeling or cutting - like cantaloupe and other melons,because Bacteria can be found on the outer rind or peel. Don't use soap, detergents, or bleach solutions to wash produce. As an added precaution, use a small vegetable brush to remove surface dirt. Try to cut away damaged or bruised areas - bacteria can thrive in these places.

HAVE A LOOK To Know About Pregnancy Diet. WHAT SHOULD YOU EAT DURING PREGNANCY? This is the most frequently asked question by many women. A pregnant woman needs to understand the importance of a healthy diet for so that the baby can develop and grow properly in her womb. What do you understand by a well balanced diet? It simply means eating food in right proportions and that have a balance of proteins, iron, carbohydrates and fat. Including calcium and minerals too play a vital role in keeping you healthy during pregnancy. Pregnancy is a time when you not only think of your health, but most importantly about the well being of your little one, who is getting prepared to come into this world! Let's have a look at what you should include in your pregnancy diet. During pregnancy for example, you’ll need protein and calcium for your baby’s tissues and bones. You will also need to consume extra folic acid to protect against neural tube birth defects and more iron to help red blood cells carry oxygen to your baby. Lean meat is rich in protein which helps to build the cells in your as well as your baby’s body. It is a great option to choose from, as it is full of iron which is essential to help your baby develop red blood cells. Lentils are exceptionally nutritious too and are full of a B Vitamin, known as Folic Acid when you take it as a supplement. Consuming lentils aids in forming your baby's brain and nervous system. Fish like- salmon is loaded with omega-3 essential fatty acids, most importantly a type called DHA. Omega 3 is vital for developing your baby’s eyes and brain. Another healthy food during pregnancy is Avocados. They are filled with folate, potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B6 which help baby's tissue and brain growth as well as eases morning sickness. Oats are full of fiber, B vitamins, iron and many other minerals. They're also packed with fiber that helps you deal with constipation during pregnancy. The ideal weight gain during pregnancy should be about 12 kilos. Let us have a quick look at what you should be eating and why: Iron rich food:- A diet rich in iron is important during pregnancy. Dates, figs, honey, green leafy vegetables, jiggery, millets and folic acid are highly recommended. Calcium for strong bones:- During the course of pregnancy about 3-4 glasses of milk are recommended to be taken and that amounts to about half a liter. A lot of calcium is taken by the baby and therefore it is important for the mother to supplement her body with calcium in other ways like drinking butter milk, having tofu or even soya milk is a good option. Patients who complain about lactose intolerance, soya products are advised to be consumed on a regular basis by them. Fruits and vegetables:- Fruits rich in iron like apples, sapota etc.., are supposed to be eaten during pregnancy. This helps in the iron levels to increase in the body. Green leafy vegetables too like spinach and soya are a great source of iron. Zinc intake:- Good sources of zinc are chicken, shrimps, fish, wheat germ, cereals, eggs too are recommended for pregnant women. It is observed that during the gestational weeks of forty weeks the demand for calcium goes up. Therefore, sesame seeds and drumsticks are advised to be taken which are rich in calcium and is a very healthy diet for pregnant women. How much weight should you gain during Pregnancy? LEARN ideal weight gain tips during pregnancy from Jyoti Chabria. WEIGHT GAIN! This scare always remains in the minds of pregnant women. Some women are just lucky not to put on too much weight but for those who do not have control on their weight due to various medical issues, find it an arduous task. Pregnancy brings in joy for all women and it is the most important phase of their lives. The term pregnancy is also known as ‘Gestation’ or ‘Gravidity’. These nine months are so crucial in a women’s life. She has to be careful as to what she eats how much of weight does she put on during each trimester, how much of exercise is important for etc and so on. There are a lot of changes that take place during this phase such as- mood swings, hormonal changes, hot gushes in the face, weight gain etc. Care has to be taken in what you consume. Ample nutrition has to go into the body so that you have a healthy baby. What a pregnant woman eats determines the source of nourishment of the baby. Folic acid which is basically Vitamin –B is crucial for the brain development for the baby. This helps in preventing certain defects that may arise in the brain or spinal region during pregnancy. Other foods such as leafy green vegetables, dairy products and fruits are recommended for pregnant women. Iron too is important during pregnancy. A woman typically needs 27 milligrams of iron per day. This would prevent anemia in pregnant women. Protein intake is also vital during pregnancy. This helps to build important organs in babies during the development process. The question that arises with almost all pregnant women is, ‘What should the ideal weight gain be during those nine months’? The answer would be 12 kilos. In the first trimester, the patient may lose about 2-3 kilos but that is absolutely fine because of the nausea or vomiting that they go through. Coming to the fourth month onwards, a steady weight gain of two kilos is observed which is healthy. What is the expected weight gain in the last month of pregnancy? Then during the last trimester, that is from the seventh month onwards to the ninth there is maximum weight gain during this phase. Now you all must be wondering why? This is because of the maximum growth of the baby during that trimester. What is the ideal caloric intake? Well, a pregnant woman should have an intake of about 25000 calories per day which is recommended by doctors or dieticians. There is misconception that a pregnant woman should eat for two, but this is not true. The whole idea is to eat for yourself and eat healthy! One thing that has to be taken care of is, if you are on the heavy side before getting pregnant you should keep a check on your weight during pregnancy. Excess weight gain can lead to high blood pressure, diabetes and also birth defects in rare cases. Pregnancy is that time when your body undergoes many changes in order to meet the needs of the baby. Dieting is strictly a big No! I hope this piece of information will guide you with the right weight gain structure. So keep fit and healthy! Pregnancy is one of the most important time period in every woman’s life. Therefore, eating well-balanced meals is very important for all pregnant women. There are varieties of nutritious food choices available in the market, but there are few foods which are not completely safe for developing baby. Therefore pregnant women should be very cautious while choosing food items and need to avoid all foods which are not safe for their developing baby. Here we have prepared the list of top 10 foods that each pregnant lady should avoid during Pregnancy. High-Mercury Fish - Pregnant women should not eat high-mercury fish such as Shark, Swordfish, King Mackerel and Tilefish. Consumption of fish that contains high levels of mercury during pregnancy can harm baby's developing brain and nervous system. However there are certain types of fish which contain low levels of mercury are safe to eat for pregnant women. Raw or Undercooked eggs are not safe for pregnant women to eat as they pose a huge risk for salmonella poisoning. If you eat an egg containing salmonella, you may experience abdominal cramps, diarrhea, vomiting, chills, fever or headache within 6 to 72 hours after consuming it. Raw sprouts like clover, radish and beans can lead to salmonella - a disease caused by the bacteria residing on the sprouts. The disease springs from the contaminated seeds when consumed. The seeds are stored in dry conditions wherein the bacteria remain dormant, but once they are sprouted in a warm environment the bacterial growth gets activated. E-coli and salmonella bacteria cause diarrhea, nausea, abdominal cramping and fever and other serious illnesses in pregnant women. Food craving during pregnancy is very common. However, sweet food cravings should be carefully handled for the sake of good health of both mother and the baby. Consuming too much sugar during pregnancy is bad for health. Therefore, pregnant women should decrease their sugar intake especially during nine months. Unwashed Fruits and Vegetables are contaminated with pesticides and many harmful bacteria which can be found on the outer peel or rind. Babies are more susceptible to pesticides than Mom or any adult, especially at critical times of development. The FDA recommends completely washing raw vegetables before eating or preparing. Eating undercooked or raw meat increases the risk of infection from several bacteria or parasites like Toxoplasma, E. coli, Listeria and Salmonella. Pregnant women should not consume processed meat products unless they’ve been reheated until steaming hot. Caffeine - Pregnant women are generally advised to limit their caffeine intake to less than 200 mg per day. High caffeine intake during pregnancy can limit fetal growth and cause low birth weight. Alcohol - Pregnant women are advised to completely avoid drinking alcohol, as it increases the risk of miscarriage and stillbirth. Even a small amount can negatively impact your baby’s brain development. Unpasteurized milk or Dairy products are at a significantly higher risk of being contaminated with a bacteria called Listeria, which can result in the disease Listeriosis. Listeriosis is a dangerous infection that can lead to miscarriage, severe illness and even stillbirth. Canned foods are not completely safe for pregnant women as food reacts chemically with the metal container and most cans often contains Bisphenol A (BPA) which leak into food and drink, leading to an 80 per cent increase in the risk of miscarriage.
