The Most Unusual Families In The World

05:23
Top 10 of the strangest and most unique families ever Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg For copyright matters please contact us at: david.f@valnetinc.com Other Videos You Might Like The Oddest Couples Ever To Get Married https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pepk_V3gW8I 10 Most Extreme Body Transformations Ever https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3-w6ZXKzu8 Description: Most people tend to focus in on the peculiar foibles and eccentricities of their own family, feeling as though theirs is a strange one but still loving them nonetheless. While they may have their unique quirks, they likely are no more bizarre than any other family if you’re looking closely enough. And besides, a little bit of off-kilt behavior is a forgivable sin so long as they’ve still fostered a loving, caring and safe environment for you to grow up in. After all, that isn’t always the case. Not every unusual family is a dysfunctional one, but every dysfunctional family skews towards the unusual in one way or another. This list covers both ends of the spectrum. Here, you can find happy clans that lead rewarding, fulfilling lives while living under unconventional circumstances. However, you’ll also see some unhealthy family dynamics where child rearing and general familial decisions have produced tension-filled relationships and have played a detrimental role in the development of the next generation. In regards to the first category, there are situations brought on either deliberately or through uncontrolled variables that can lead to a pretty uniquely alternative living environment for a family. But children are typically resilient, capable of offsetting a jarring culture change and even thriving amidst a wide variety of circumstances. We may scoff, but households can still function in a three-parent structure or while cruising on the ocean for months at a time. Although conventional parenting may not concur with these methods, happiness has even been achieved through romantic love between grandmother and grandson, families housing pet lions and even a multi-generational clan living on the lam. Of course, not every piece of against the grain parenting can breed success, or is even designed with positive benefits in mind. Unfortunately, humans require no form of license of authorization to bear children, so those who have no business raising a family can do so. Instances of reckless parenting on this list range from the relatively innocuous but ill-advised, such as inviting cameras into your home to film your 19 children, to full out criminal, with a psycho mother and even a whole Russian family delving into some murderous activity. There is no singular mode of parenting or family growth that represents the correct path on how to raise a family, but there certainly are some very wrong ones. Indeed, every family is a little bit off beat. We don’t get to choose them, so inevitably there’s going to be some aspects of our family dynamic that weird us out, especially when living in close quarters with the rest of the motley crew. But mom’s attempts to be cool and dad’s hot seat grilling of your latest boyfriend or girlfriend seem relatively tame next to the wacky choices made by these off the wall family units. Compared to these groups of kinfolks, your family is just a mundane, every-day collection of completely normal human beings. Welcome to the weirdest family photo album that you’ll likely ever see. Improve your Vocabulary: Stop saying VERY!

20:06
Using the same word again and again is boring, which is why native English speakers use a wide variety of vocabulary to express their thoughts and feelings. In this vocabulary lesson, I will teach you how to express yourself more effectively by replacing the word "very" with more precise and interesting adjectives. For example, you can replace "very cold" with "freezing". This illustrates your point more precisely. You will sound more natural and intelligent. Using these adjectives on the speaking section of IELTS and TOEFL exams will impress your examiner and improve your score. Watch the video to discover many more examples of this kind of vocabulary substitution. Variety is the spice of life! Next, watch my lesson on how to learn vocabulary FAST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_aA-Hc74Ag TRANSCRIPT "Getting from here to there, it's been a long while." Oh, hi. My time is finally here. James from engVid. I can't believe this, this is like the Mirror Universe. If you watch Star Trek, you'll understand; if not, go watch Mirror Universe with Star Trek. I have two, look at them, I have two Mr. Es. In the first one Mr. E is hot, and the first one Mr. E is cold. Let's go to the board. E, what's up? "It's very hot. 35 degrees centigrade." You're right. I see you're wearing your Bermuda shorts. And the second E is saying he's very cold: "It's minus 30 degrees centigrade." Ow, this isn't good. I feel for you. But don't you think there are better ways to say it's very hot or it's very cold? I think so, and in today's lesson I'm going to teach some of you... Not some of you. I'm going to teach all of you how to get rid of the word "very" to describe everything, and use other words which give more information, which will make you sound more like a native speaker and make your writing phenomenal. Oh, "phenomenal"? That's a word for "very good". Are you ready? Let's go to the board. So, today's lesson is on "very". "Very" is a very good word, that's why we use it, but when you're writing, to hear somebody say: "Very, very, very, very, very, very, very, very" is what we call monotonous, it means "mono" as one, "tonous", one tone, one sound - very boring. So let's change that from you being... You know, using "very" because I teach and I notice a lot of students saying things, like: "Teacher, today it's very cold outside." I'm like: -"Yeah, it is." -"And I'm very tired and very hungry." I'm like: "Okay, okay." It's like being punched in the face again and again, and I just want to say: "Stop with the 'very'. Use a different word." But it's not fair because "very" is a very good word-there, I did it again-we just need to find other words to make your language sound richer to improve it so you sound more like a native English speaker, and to make it more interesting for you because it will express more of who you are and your ideas in a better way. It makes you unique. You ready? Let's go to the board. You'll notice I put "very" in red because this is something we don't want to do, we don't want to keep saying: "very". We want to change that up. And I'm going to give you a list of words that people or students usually say when they say "very" that I've heard many, many times. And maybe you've done this. And today I'm going to give you singular words to use instead. I'll explain them, just in case they're difficult. Let's start with the first one. People say: "Very rude", instead of saying that, you can say: "vulgar". "Vulgar" means very rude, and if somebody says to me: "Your language is vulgar", I'll probably stop talking because it means it's not right, it's inappropriate, it's very bad. Vulgar. "I don't like your vulgar tone", your rude tone. It's strong. "Very short", another word we say is "brief", which means small. We had a very brief... We had a very brief conversation, a very short conversation. Cool? "Boring". When you say: "Class was very boring today", you can say: "dull". "Dull" means very boring. It also means... See? Here's a bonus when you use these words, stupid. If you say someone is dull, you can say they're very boring, or dull meaning they're stupid. Don't use it like that too often; people don't like being called stupid. And if you say: "He's rather dull, isn't he?" I have to listen for context to mean stupid or boring. Next one, everybody's favourite: "Very good". "Teacher, the food is very good. The lesson is very good. I like this, it's very good." Why don't we change that to the word "superb"? Look carefully at the word "superb", you have the word "super" written inside it. "Super" means what? Above average, excellent, or superb, very good. "The food was superb." People don't usually use this word, so if you tell me when I cook for you that it's superb, I'm telling you right now I will take that as such an amazing compliment. Gentlemen, if you tell a woman she looks superb, she'll be like: "Thank you. Really?" Because no one says it. All right? […]

Binging with Babish: Shawarma from The Avengers

Heavy Weights vs Light Weights | Build Muscle (THE WINNER IS...)

05:59
Build more muscle by training smarter - http://athleanx.com/x/faster-results Subscribe to this channel here - http://bit.ly/2b0coMW The question of whether to use heavy weights or light weights to build muscle is one of the most common training questions. The answer is not so straight forward. The fact of the matter is that in order to build as much muscle as possible you better learn that you need to lift light weights at times and heavy weights at other times. In fact, there is a third way that you should be lifting as well if you want to get serious muscle. In this video, I use the example of the shoulder side lateral raise to illustrate how to build muscle using both light weights and heavy weights on the same exercise. It has to do with the portion of the contraction that you are attempting to focus the overload necessary for building mass on. If you are looking to overload the concentric or positive portion of the lift then you better get used to lowering the weight that you are using. That’s right. Leave the ego lifting at the door when you are trying to build muscle by overloading the concentric. Often times, way too much momentum is used to throw a weight up during the concentric on an exercise. This disperses the force from the single area that you are trying to build up to the many areas and muscles around the muscle in question and therefore weakens the overall effect on the target muscle. On the contrary, if you are trying to stress the eccentric or lowering phase of a muscle contraction on a target muscle then you better get used to asking for help from surrounding muscles in order for this to work the best. In the example of the side lateral raise for shoulders, the middle delts can recruit additional help from the traps, rear delts and even torso muscles to safely help cheat the weight up into position where a stronger eccentric can be performed. Relying solely on the amount of weight that can be strictly muscled up by the singular muscle in question will limit the amount of weight that you can use on an eccentric (and therefore will be limiting your size potential). This technique is actually something that you can apply to not just this one exercise but almost every exercise you can do. That said, this combination of heavy weights and light weights is not enough to complete the picture. The explosive component of your training can only be achieved by using a weight that is in the middle of the two extremes shown here and focusing on accelerating the weight as you lift it. This introduces the element of power to strength. Power combined with concentric and eccentric overload makes your size and strength gains even more functional. For a complete training and workout program that builds functional strength at the same time as it is helping you to add serious muscle size and strength, head to http://athleanx.com and get the ATHLEAN-X Training System. Don't make these mistakes in English!

06:16
Can you find the mistakes? "I am student", "I am agree", "Yesterday, I'm go downtown", "He no have money", "I want to meet the downtown". If you don't know, this is the lesson for you! These are mistakes made by students of all levels, so watch this video and learn to avoid these common errors. Take the quiz here: http://www.engvid.com/dont-make-these-mistakes/ And don't forget to check out our other video on 5 common English learner mistakes: http://www.engvid.com/5-common-mistakes/ TRANSCRIPT Hey, everyone. I'm Alex. Thanks for clicking, and welcome to this lesson on five more common English learner mistakes. So if you have watched my other video on five common English learner mistakes, this is a follow up to give you five more. So let's not waste time and get right to it. Here we go with No. 1. So this first mistake is common because in many languages, when you discuss jobs or your station in life, you don't use articles even if you come from a country where there are articles in the language. So for example, "I am student." "He is engineer." If I ask you, "What do you do", you need to use an article because "student" is countable; it's singular; and "engineer' is countable and it's singular. So you have to say, "I am a student." "He is an engineer." Now, let's move on to No. 2. Okay. Here, we have two sentences on the board. We have, "I am agree." "Are you agree?" So in this situation, "agree" is a verb. We don't say, "I am agree." You can just say, "I agree." If it's negative, "I don't agree" or, "I disagree." And the question is not, "Are you agree?" It's, "Do you agree?" Now, if you are set on wanting to say "I am" and use "agree" in some way, you would have to say, "I am in agreement." This is very formal, but it is possible. Otherwise, you say, "I agree" or, "I disagree" and, "Do you agree?" Now, let's move on to No. 3. This next mistake is about the use of the past tense. For new English speakers, because they can't form the past tense, sometimes they use the verb "to be" with the verb. So I have heard, "I'm go downtown yesterday." Or, "He was see his cousin." If you are speaking in the past, make sure you simply use the past simple verb. In this situation, we don't say "I'm go". The past of "go" is "went". "I went downtown." We don't say "he was see". The past of "see" is "saw". So this is about using the past simple form of the verb to speak about the past. Never say "I'm go", "I'm do", "I'm make". "I saw"; "I made"; "I did"; "I played". Okay? Now, let's move on to No. 4. Now, this mistake is about using negatives. In many languages, whether they're European or Latin, Spanish, I hear this frequently. So you might hear, "He no have money" or, "They no like chocolate." So if you are making a sentence in the sent simple, and you want to make it negative, you have to use "doesn't" and "don't". So not "he no have" but, "He doesn't have." Okay? Not "they no like chocolate" but, "They don't like chocolate." So make sure you learn how to make negative sentences. "He doesn't"; "I don't"; "we don't"; "they don't"; not "he no", "she no", "I no". All right? Now, let's move on to No. 5. Finally, here we have a word choice error. And this is because maybe speakers translate from their own language, and many languages, you can use the verbs "meet" or "know" to talk about going to places and getting to know cities and towns, for example. So, "I want to meet the city" or, "Yesterday, I knew downtown." Now, in English, we don't really use the verbs "know" and "meet" to talk about getting to know a place. You can use the verbs "explore" or "get to know" or "visit". So you can say, you know, "I want to explore the city." I want to go around the city." "Yesterday, I knew downtown" -- "Yesterday, I traveled around downtown." And you can also use terms like "get to know" a place. You can visit a place. You can explore a place. Okay? But you can't meet a park. You can meet a person, but you can't meet a place. Now, let's review all five of these mistakes one more time. All right. So to review, No. 1, "I am a student." If you want to talk about your status in life. Are you a student? An engineer? Are you a teacher? Etc. you need to use an article to talk about jobs, professions, talk about your station in life. No. 2, "I agree, not "I am agree"." Do you agree?" Not "are you agree?" No. 3, "I went downtown." "I saw my cousin." So remember, memorize those past tense verbs. Not "I was go" or "I am go". "I went"; "I saw"; "I did". All right?

Vocabulary for EATING and DRINKING

19:29
Eating and drinking are things we do every single day, but the vocabulary available to talk about them is much richer than the obvious words we use on a regular basis. In this English vocabulary lesson, you will learn different ways to express eating and drinking in creative ways. How would you tell someone you wanted more than a snack but less than a meal? Do you know the difference between "wolfing down", "devouring", and "scarfing down" food? Watch the video to find out, and make sure to do the quiz afterwards to practice what you learned! http://www.engvid.com/vocabulary-for-eating-and-drinking/ TRANSCRIPT Mm, mm, eating. New Orleans is a gourmand's dream. Oh, and I'm so hungr-... Hi. James from engVid. I'm hungry, and I'm thinking about eating, and I'm sure you do, too. After all, eating is a natural thing. But in your experience of what you've been taught, I'm sure you've been told words like: "delicious", "eating", and that's about it. Hey, the world's a big place and a rich place, so why don't we give you a rich vocabulary and give you, you know, some native-speaker speak on eating. Are you ready? Let's go to the board. So, I'm looking at a book. I'll say... Oh, what's this? "Time to pig out, Mr. E? It's not time to scarf down pizza and beer. We've got work to do." I'm sure you're going: "Scarf? Why 'scarf'?" We'll find out. On the board, we have: "How to talk about eating". Simple enough. Chew, swallow. No, not so simple. Like, in every country, there's a way to speak about things, and I want to give you a good... Good introduction to our eating lexicon, which is dictionary. We're going to go from a little to a lot. And I'll give you the words that we might use, and explain each one, and you'll notice there are some pictures here, so I will give you the number with each picture. Some won't have pictures, but hey, that's life. Suck it up, baby. So the first one: "nibble". I want you to imagine a mouse. [Nibbles] Do mice eat a lot? No. They eat a little bit, just a little food. Okay? Now, "nibble" can be a noun as in the amount of food you eat, or verb, and it means to eat just a little bit. Okay? And that's our first one. "Nibble". Think of a mouse. A mouse nibbles its food; has a little bit of food. "Graze" is number two. "Grazing" is funny. You kind of eat a lot, but you don't. Huh? Well, when you graze, think of cows. You see the cow: "Moo", it's moving through, [eating noises]; moves over here, [eating noises] moves over here. It eats a little bit of everything, or as I like to say, when I go to people's houses and I don't know if the food is good, I just graze. I try a little, [eating noises], and I move on. Try a little, I move on. I might stay in a place where I like that. Okay? Cows graze. Funny enough, men don't really graze. Women graze more than men. They do it because they eat, they go: "I'm having fun, I'm enjoying myself. I'm going to try this, this, this, this, this." Men just want to, boom, gulp it down. So, to graze is to move and eat a little bit of food at a time. We usually do this at buffets or with foods we're not sure of, like, I'm just going to graze a bit. Okay? You see the cow? That's Bessie, graze. So, when you see people eating a little bit of food, and moving around, and keep coming back to the same food - they're grazing. Not really eating. Numero uno. Uno? Did I say "uno"? See, I don't speak Spanish. That's why I shouldn't. Number three: "bite". You know a bite as, here? Yeah. Easy. Right. Oh, sorry, I should say "graze" is a verb before I forget, there. "Graze", a verb. "Bite", a bite. Now, notice a bite is singular in this case. "A bite" is interesting because it's a medium amount of food, and it's a noun. When you go for a bite, you want some food. When we talk about "nibble", I said cheese, I should have actually said: "Think nibbling as on peanuts, chips maybe, a cookie or two". I just want to nibble; not a lot of food. Remember the noun? When you go for a bite to eat, you want something like a hot dog. You go: "Okay, I get it." No, no, you don't get it. I want just a hot dog, or I want a slice of pizza, or I want a hamburger, but I don't want a salad, I don't want dessert, I just want something more than a nibble, more than chips, but not a full meal. I'm not... I don't have the time or I'm not that hungry. So when you go for a bite, some people might go... They won't even go for a doughnut, like a doughnut would be something to nibble on or just eat, but a bite would be a hamburger, hot dog, something like that. Big, but not too big, because it's a medium amount of food. All right? So, I'm going to go for a bite. And look here, there's a mouth. There you go. "Bite". Don't forget to get a bite. Okay? I might even say as an idiom: "I'm going out for a bite. Do you want something?" If you go: "Yeah, give me a salad, plus this", I go: "Dude, I'm going for a bite. You want a meal, go by yourself. That's way too much food."

8 Signs You Will Be A Millionaire - Signs You Will Be Rich

03:52
8 Signs You Will Be A Millionaire. https://youtu.be/CA4vw6A2wKg 8. You have multiple streams of income. As author found in his five-year study of self-made millionaires, the rich "do not rely on one singular source of income. "Sixty-five percent had at least three streams of income that they created prior to making their first million dollars, 7. You save to invest. "Investing money is how you will get super rich," says self-made millionaire Grant Cardone. "The only reason to save money is to one day invest money." In fact, how much you save and invest is oftentimes more important than than the size of your paycheck. As personal finance expert Ramit Sethi writes in "I Will Teach You to Be Rich": "On average, millionaires invest 20 percent of their household income each year. Their wealth isn't measured by the amount they make each year, but by how they've saved and invested over time." 6. You surround yourself with high-achieving people. "You are only as successful as those you frequently associate with. Steve Siebold, self-made millionaire and author of "How Rich People Think," agrees. "In most cases, your net worth mirrors the level of your closest friends. "We become like the people we associate with, and that's why winners are attracted to winners." 5. You're decisive. After studying over 500 millionaires, auther found that they're decisive. "Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million dollar mark disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly. "Those who reach decisions promptly and definitely know what they want, and generally get it." 4. You're open-minded. "The person with a 'closed' mind on any subject seldom gets ahead. On the flip side, the wealthiest, most successful people are constantly seeking feedback and looking for ways to improve. That's why so many business leaders, including billionaire Richard Branson, claim to have never "made it, " despite their wild success. 3. You're persistent. "Most of us are good 'starters' but poor 'finishers' of everything we begin." The majority of people "are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat, " he says, but not the rich, who don't stop until they get what they want. "If the first plan which you adopt does not work successfully, replace it with a new plan; if this new plan fails to work, replace it in turn with still another, and so on, until you find a plan which does work. 2. You talk about ideas, not things. "Millionaires are creative, " says Keith Cameron Smith, author of "The Top 10 Distinctions Between Millionaires and the Middle Class. " "They spend time thinking about new ideas." While the masses talk about cars and movies, millionaires own the car companies and produce the movies. They understand that "ideas are the most valuable asset in the world. 1. You're comfortable taking calculated risks. While the middle class lives in fear of risking too much, millionaires know when to go for it. This isn't to say they rich are naturally fearless and take risks blindly, he notes: "Millionaires overcome fear with knowledge. Millionaires educate themselves before taking risks, and then they consider the consequences of failing." Source: www.cnbc.com ......................... Why Pizza Purists Love Neapolitan-Style Pies | Food Skills

03:37
Walk into any slice shop in New York City and a pizzaiolo will claim to specialize in Neapolitan pizza. Naples’ singular approach to the dish has become a shorthand of sorts for any pie that seems to be thin, flat, and round in 2018. But at Una Pizza Napoletana, chef Anthony Mangieri is using imported ingredients and traditional cooking techniques to pay homage to his Neapolitan ancestry, all while creating a product that’s uniquely rooted in the five boroughs. Topped with buffalo mozzarella, San Marzano tomato sauce, sea salt from Trapani, and olive oil from Sorrento, each pie from Una Pizza Napoletana is a carefully orchestrated opera of flavor, the pieces blending together to form one perfectly balanced work of art. A fixture in the NYC slice game for decades, Mangieri made a name for himself as a savant-like pizza purist hellbent on perfection. Today, returning to Manhattan after years on the west coast, the chef just wants to make a pizza that perfectly represents his own unique tastes and experiences. "For me, at this point in my life, I don’t think the pizza is the best. I think that it’s just mine and it’s what I offer," Mangieri says. "That’s what I bring to New York. I bring myself and my ideas and my independence." All MODAL VERBS lessons: https://goo.gl/v9fCh8 Transcript: ‘Have been’, ‘has been’ and ‘had been’. These forms cause a lot of confusion for many people. Well, in this video, I will clear up that confusion. I’m going to teach you the three main uses of these forms how to use them correctly without making mistakes. As always, there is a quiz at the end of the video to test your understanding. Alright, let’s get started. Before we talk about the uses, you need to know the basics of where to use have, has and had been: in the present, if the subject of a sentence is I/You/We/They or a plural noun, then we use ‘have been’. If the subject is He/She/It or a singular noun, then we use ‘has been’. This is when we talk about the present. When we talk only about the past, it’s very easy. For any subject, we use ‘had been’. OK, let me test you: what do we use with He/She/It or a singular noun in the present? We use ‘has been’. What about with I/You/We/They or plural nouns? We use ‘have been’. And in the past tense? We use ‘had been’ for all subjects. Good, so let’s now look at the first use of these forms. This is in the present perfect tense. That is, to talk about actions or situations that started in the past and are still continuing. Here’s an example: “I have been working as a teacher for 7 years.” In speech, we usually shorten ‘I have’ to ‘I’ve’ – “I’ve been working as a teacher for 7 years.” Let’s look at a timeline for this. You know that I started working as a teacher seven years ago (or in 2010 because at the time of filming this video, right now, it’s 2017), and I’m still a teacher, so this action – ‘working’ is continuing. In this sentence, we can also say: “I have been working as a teacher since 2010.” The difference between ‘for’ and ‘since’ is that if you want to mention the duration (or amount of time), then you use ‘for’ (like ‘for 7 years’). If you want to mention the starting point of the action or situation, use ‘since’ (as in ‘since 2010’). Here’s another example: let’s say that this lady wants to see the doctor. Her appointment was at 3 o’clock. She came to the hospital at 3, but the doctor wasn’t there. So she started waiting at 3 o’clock and she’s still waiting – let’s say it’s 5 o’clock now, so two hours have passed. So what can we say? We can say: “She has been waiting for two hours.” or “She has been waiting since 3 o’clock.” In natural speech, we say he‘s been and she’s been: “She’s been waiting”. OK have a look at this sentence: “He has been the CEO of the company for four months” or we can say ‘since June’ because that’s when he started. Here, we don’t have an –ing verb like ‘working’ or ‘waiting’. That’s because we don’t want to focus on any action, we just want to express the situation – that he became the CEO in June and he’s still the CEO. Here’s another example: “They’ve been married for 25 years / since 1992.” When did they get married? In 1992. Are they still married now? Yes. So, they’ve been married for 25 years now. OK, so what about ‘had been’? Well, let’s change our sentences a little bit: “I had been working as a teacher for 7 years when I quit my job.” Ah, we see a different meaning here. It means that I started working as a teacher at some point in the past, I was a teacher for 7 years, but then I quit. So now, I am no longer a teacher. I want you to notice that there are two past actions here: one continuous action (“I had been working as a teacher”) and a single finished action at the end of that (“I quit”). Compare this to the previous sentence – “I have been working as a teacher” – here, there is only one continuous action and it’s still continuing, it’s not finished. So, please remember this rule: only use ‘had been’ if there were two events in the past: a continuing action or a situation and a single, finished action. So let’s go back to the other sentences. With these, we can say: “She had been waiting for two hours when the doctor finally arrived.” “He’d been the CEO of the company for only four months when it went bankrupt.” ‘Went bankrupt’ means the company lost all its money and closed down. “They had been married for 25 years when they divorced.” So are they still married? Unfortunately, no. Just like the sentences with ‘have been’ and ‘has been’ are in the present perfect tense, the sentences with ‘had been’ are in the past perfect tense.

http://www.engvid.com/ Improve your IELTS score with these quick tips! In this lesson, you will learn about the Listening module of the IELTS exam. I will teach you the most common mistakes people make and how to avoid them. Watch this free video, so that you know how to practice for the IELTS Listening test. I want you to be prepared and confident on your test day, so that you can get the best results on your IELTS! http://www.engvid.com/ielts-listening-top-10-tips/ TRANSCRIPT Hello. My name is Emma, and in today's lesson, I am going to teach you my top tips for the IELTS listening module. Okay? So, before I teach you these tips, you might be wondering: "What's the IELTS listening module?" Well, the IELTS is a test and one part of the test is listening. So, in the listening section, you're going to have 40 questions where you're going to listen to some conversations for about 30 minutes, and then you'll have 10 minutes to transfer your answers over to another sheet. So, in total, it's 40 minutes; 30 minutes for listening, 10 minutes for writing down your answers. Okay, now this part of the IELTS is very possible to get a high mark, especially if you follow my tips. All right? Now, before we get started, I just want to let you know: I know you can do the IELTS. I know you can pass, I know you can get a great mark, a great bandwidth - you just have to have confidence in yourself and you have to practice. Practice, practice, practice; it really pays off. So let's get started. So, my first tip: write no more than three words. What do I mean by this? I don't mean for the whole thing, write no more than three words. On the IELTS, you will have to read the instruction of what to do. Often times, the instruction, before you listen, you're going to see: "Write no more than three words." This is an example of an instruction you must follow. One mistake a lot of students make during the IELTS is they don't read instructions properly. They're nervous, they're stressed out, they write whatever, they don't... They don't follow the instructions. If you see something like: "Write no more than three words." Do that. You can't write four, don't write five. Write three or less. Okay? So my main point here: follow the instructions carefully. Point number two: get used to British English. A large part of the IELTS, you will be listening... For... For... Sorry, for the listening, you will be listening to British accents. Sometimes you might hear Australian accents or Canadian, you might hear a range, but a lot of the accents will be British. So it's very important to get used to listening to British accents. And also, listen to other accents like Canadian, Australian; that's a good idea too. Where can you find British accents to listen to? I recommend the BBC. They have a lot of great videos there and most of it's with British accents, so it's a very good idea so you can practice listening. The more you practice listening with British accents, the easier it will be to understand British speakers. Especially if you're used to American English, this is a very good thing to do. Related to this point: British vocab. You should learn British vocabulary. For example: in American English and Canadian English, we say: "truck". In British English, we say: "lorry". So it's good to know some of these British expressions, some British words. One idea where you can practice these is if you check out our website: www.engvid.com, we have a new teacher who is British and who will be talking about British English, so check out her... Her videos. It will also be good to help you with practicing listening to British accents. Number four: spelling counts. Okay? Very important. The listening part of the IELTS is not just listening; you're actually using other skills like writing and reading. Now, with writing, when you write down your answers, you sometimes have to spell something out, so you have to be very, very careful with spelling. Okay? This is something you should really study and practice before you take the listening part of the IELTS. Practice your spelling. Learn spelling rules. We have a lot of different videos on how to spell on engVid, so I would come and check those ones out. Number five - this is the thing that always gets my students and I always warn them about when we practice - plural versus singular. Okay? You have to listen carefully on whether you're writing down the plural with an "s" or the singular. If the question wants me to write down: "cat", someone's talking about their cat and I write down: "cats", it's incorrect. I would get an "X". Okay, so it's important to be careful, to really listen: is it a singular thing, is it a plural thing? Are they saying "store" or "stores"? Okay?

11 BIGGEST Things On Earth!

12:30
These are the largest things on Earth! Find out about the the world’s biggest things including the biggest tree and the biggest animal ever and the largest things in the world! 5. Amphicoelias - This extinct species was a member of the sauropod dinosaur genus, meaning they had long necks, extended tails, and stood on four trunk-like, thick legs. They are also known for their incredible size! The amphicoelias’ remains are noted to be the most colossal ever discovered; however, only one bone of the skeleton was found, and measurements were based solely on this finding. Unfortunately, the dino’s remains have been lost, and scientists can only draw conclusions based on studies done in the late 1800s. But, if the findings from over one hundred years ago are correct, then this creature was enormous! It could grow up to one hundred ninety feet long and weigh up to one hundred thirty-four tons! Although this monstrous beast would be quite terrifying to come upon in the wild, there are a couple of things to keep in mind; one, this dinosaur has been extinct for centuries, and two, it was a herbivore, meaning it preferred leafy greens over a rare steak. So, unless Jurassic Park comes to life, then we’ve got nothing to worry about. 4. Jackfruit - Many of us have heard of this fruit, but aren’t really sure what it is or where it comes from. It is often used in vegan cooking in place of proteins like pork, but can also be eaten as-is and is often used in South Asian recipes since it occurs naturally in Southwest India. Although the jackfruit’s spiky exterior gives it a less-than-appetizing appearance, its flesh is sweet and delicate in flavor. This odd-looking delight is also the biggest fruit in the world that grows on trees. It can weigh up to one hundred twenty pounds and grow up to thirty-five inches long and twenty inches wide! 3. Henry Doorly Zoo - This gigantic park and conservation area is located in Omaha, Nebraska. Its goal is to help understand various animal species better, educate others about these creatures, maintain people’s interest, and keep them coming back to visit and learn. Although this zoo isn’t the largest when only considering its physical size, its extensive variety of animals combined with its acreage make it one of the biggest things on Earth. The Henry Doorly Zoo spans over one hundred thirty acres and houses upwards of seventeen thousand animals! Plus, this park includes an aquarium as well. Some of its exhibits include Asian Highlands, Kingdoms of the Night (the world’s most tremendous nocturnal exhibition), and the Lied Jungle (the biggest indoor rainforest in America). Because of its numerous exciting and unique habitats, the Henry Doorly Zoo attracts about two million visitors every year!

Food for all, yield for the masses: Jarrett Chambers at TEDxWinnipeg

23:44
Finding the right plant nutrient innovation to help farmers is essential to the state of health of our world's population. With the right plant nutrients growers can continue to provide fair priced food staples to a burgeoning global population. With commitment, passion and a proven track record that spans more than 20 years, Jarrett has a singular focus - to deliver results for growers. This focus will propel the agriculture and horticulture industries across North America. Jarrett's professional experience started at his U of M where he obtained a M.Sc. in Soil Fertility and Microbiology. While at U of M he worked on the Jumpstart and Agrotain technologies. The skills gained on these projects allowed him to develop and commercialize the ESN and Duration technologies across North America for the fruit, vegetable, turfgrass and nursery markets. Realizing that growers must maximize crop production to meet the demands of a growing global population, Jarrett knew he needed to comprehensively understand Plant Nutrition. His next decade was focused on managing plant nutrition through the seed, the soil and the plant. Having pioneered and matured a successful plant nutrient company in Canada, Jarrett is excited about launching the next stage in production agriculture, ATP Nutrition. Jarrett Chambers is the President of ATP Nutrition, a Canadian-owned and operated nutrient company, structured to be a leader in Plant Nutrient Innovation. Transcript: Hi. This lesson is all about making sentences in the present simple tense. I’ll show you how to make correct sentences and avoid mistakes in grammar and spelling. So let’s begin. Welcome back to my series of lessons on the tenses. This is part two of the present simple tense. As always, if you have any questions at all, just let me know in the comments section below, and I will talk to you there. Alright, in this lesson, we will first learn how to make positive (or affirmative) sentences in the present simple tense. I will teach you when to add –s to a verb such as ‘He works’, ‘She wishes’ etc. You will also learn the spelling rules for adding –s to a verb. Then we’ll look at how to make negative sentences, and finally we will discuss the special case of the verb ‘be’. There are exercises throughout this lesson, and there’s a final quiz at the end. OK, so how do you make a sentence in the present simple? I’m sure you know the answer – you just take a subject (like I, you, we, they, he, she, it etc.) and you add a verb. For example, “I work.” And you can add any other information to the sentence, like “I work as a teacher.” You can do this with other verbs too – “I play chess once a week.” “I eat two eggs for breakfast every day.” “I love my family.” These are all present simple tense sentences, and if you remember from the previous lesson, the first sentence is a permanent situation, the second and third talk about things I do regularly (habits or routines), and the last sentence is a state using the state verb ‘love’. These are the main uses of the present simple tense. Now, of course, it’s easy to make these sentences with ‘I’ as the subject. What about other subjects? Well, let’s take the verb ‘work’ and try out some other subjects. You – work. We – work. They – work. What about ‘Those men’? Those men work. ‘My friends’? Work. These subjects are just like ‘I’. But what happens when we have ‘He’ as the subject? He works. She works. It works. That man - works. Suzie? Works. So you can see here that if the subject is ‘I’, ‘You’, ‘We’, ‘They’ or any plural noun such as ‘Those men’ or ‘My friends’ then you use the verb in the base form without –s. But if the subject is ‘He’, ‘She’, ‘It’ or any singular noun like ‘That man’ or ‘Suzie’ or any other name, then you take the base form of the verb and you add –s. It’s important to know that this –s is only used in the present tense. It’s not used in the past or future – only the present. OK, let’s now do a small exercise with this. There are nine sentences on the screen. I want you to choose the correct form of the verb in each sentence. Pause the video now if you want – think about your answers, then play the video again and check. Alright, let’s look at the answers. Number one – “He reads a lot of books.” Number two – “Many children play baseball.” Number three – “You like tomato soup.” Number four – “That bird flies fast.” Number five – “I teach English.” Number six – “We live together.” Number seven – “She goes to college.” Number eight – “It works just fine.” Number nine – “They cook very well.” Did you get them all right? OK, I want you to notice something here. We’ve added –s to some verbs. But to the verb ‘go’, we didn’t just add –s, we added ‘es’. And to ‘fly’, we took out the ‘y’ and added ‘-ies’. Why did we do that? Well, it’s because there are some important spelling rules for adding –s to a verb. Let’s talk about those now. To most verbs, we just add ‘s’. So verbs like ‘love’, ‘run’, ‘work’, ‘speak’, ‘want’ etc. just take an –s at the end. To some verbs we add ‘es’ – verbs like ‘pass’, ‘wish’, ‘search’, ‘fix’, ‘go’ and ‘do’. But why is that? Can you guess the rule?

People who are loud during the movies.. | Satire

03:00
People who are loud during the movies A tribute to behaviours normally displayed while watching movies. This includes whistling loudly, noisy eaters, talking while eating, loud vacuuming, washing dishing and general household noises. Similar behaviour is exhibited in libraries, out on the street, public restrooms/toilets, and at the grocery store. The video provides possible solutions to obnoxious behaviours and notably how to deal with annoying flatmates. New Zealand and Australian based skit comedy (or at least attempted) formulated around a singular premise capitulated to multiple characters played by one actor. A story development entrenched in the jaws of slapstick cinematography evolving a basic story submerged in heroic fantasy by the main protagonist. Ongoing battles ensue past a climactic point as heroic fantasy becomes heroic justice nuanced within Kiwi and Aussie culture alluding to sub themes of humble beginnings to tall poppy cutting displacing all characters in an ironic fabrication of a singular entity manifested into the one truth that all beings are connected as one. PH Alkaline Diet Prevents Heart Disease Heals Cancer Naturally

12:09
PH Alkaline Diet Prevents Heart Disease Heals Cancer Naturally When Dr. Robert Young revealed his breakthrough research on an alkaline pH and its effects on all disease it sent ripples through the medical community. Under scientific conditions in the laboratory, Dr. Young put 174 samples of the worst disease and biological agents known to man in a petri dish. Then exposed all of these bacteria toxins, viruses - many of which were supposedly incurable, to an alkaline environment. The results were stunning ! All diseases, deadly bacteria, viruses, AIDs, MERSA, cancer cells etc. died in an alkaline environment... This was the most significant singular breakthrough since the beginning of Western science hundreds of years ago. In the real world however, it is difficult to achieve a true alkaline balance on a consistent basis in the human body. The diet habits we expose ourselves on a daily basis on the result of this challenge. There are 2 ways to achieve an alkaline balance in our bodies: 1) Eat a strict raw vegan based diet consisting entirely of alkaline forming fruits and vegetables on a consistent basis. 2) To adhere to the killing principles of an alkaline-based diet is much as possible while supplementing your daily diet with highly effective alkaline pH forming nutritional supplements. To eat an entirely alkaline pH favorable diet is of course the desired goal in any significant lifestyle transformation. It is not easy however especially considering that many of us work 9-to-5 jobs. Another significant challenge presents itself is staying in a alkaline pH diet when traveling or on vacation. Typically under these circumstances we find ourselves ending up in a restaurant and in many cases a fast food restaurant. Under these circumstances the foods may please our taste buds but tragically will leave much to be desired in terms of an alkaline 7.2 pH diet. Under these lifestyle considerations researchers found the best thing to do is to supplement your diet with alkaline pH forming nutritional supplements. The only one currently produced being GMO free, entirely organic-based and proven effective in altering the body's pH to an alkaline pH state is meticulously produced by the 7.2 pH company. I have been a passionate holistic researcher since 1983 and this company and their premium quality nutritional supplements is only the 2nd one I've ever put my personal recommendation on. This company by the way I personally found to be even better than my previous recommendation because of its focus on transforming a body's pH to an effective cancer, heart disease and disease fighting alkaline pH and not just an organic whole food based nutritional supplement. If you would like to become part of my life transforming "Save a Dream-Team" - and share this amazing alkaline pH line of nutritional supplements to friends, family, coworkers - and their friends family and coworkers etc. feel free to contact me about this breakthrough line of 7.2 PH products now. - Glen Glen B Stewart Global Health Coach and World Class Trainer ultrapro101 @ gmail.com Skype: themasterappears

Roky Erickson | The Evil One | LITA 097 | LP | What's Inside?

01:08
http://lightintheattic.net/releases/889-the-evil-one Roky Erickson - "The Evil One" LITA 097 (CD, LP) Out Now! Celebrating a creative purple patch by a singular performer, Light In The Attic is to reissue the three albums issued by Roky Erickson in the 1980s: The Evil One (LITA 097), Don't Slander Me (LITA 098) and Gremlins Have Pictures (LITA 099). Together, they're a chance to pick up a missing jigsaw piece in the history of American rock 'n' roll in deluxe packages. As the core member of the 13th Floor Elevators and an undisputed pioneer of psychedelic rock, the '60s were thrilling times for Erickson. His band riding high in their native Texas and beyond, the howling single 'You're Gonna Miss Me' was his calling card, but Erickson's '60s ended in the stuff of nightmares. Under sharp scrutiny by the authorities due to the band's well-expounded fondness for psychedelic drugs, Erickson was found with a single joint on his person. Pleading not guilty by reason of insanity to avoid prison, he was sent to the Rusk State Hospital for the criminally insane, where he was 'treated' with electroconvulsive therapy and Thorazine treatment. Erickson pulled through his three and a half years at Rusk, and even put together a band while incarcerated. The Missing Links contained Roky plus two murderers and a rapist. Released from the institution in 1974, Roky found his legend had grown while he'd been away -- not least because 'You're Gonna Miss Me' was included on 1972's Nuggets compilation. He formed a band, the Aliens, and set about honing a hard rock sound that placed the psychedelic garage blues of the Elevators firmly in the last decade. Though it was produced at a time when Roky was struggling to cope with drugs and life on the outside, he hit form on his first post Elevators album-proper, 1981's The Evil One. Produced over a period of two years by Stu Cook, from Creedence Clearwater Revival, it's a masterful collection of songs about zombies, demons, vampires and, yes, even the 'Creature With The Atom Brain'. These tracks, inspired by schlock sci-fi and horror movies and colored by Roky's distinctive, high-pitched vocal and squealing guitar, are among the maverick performer's best. At the time, Roky explained the album this way: "It's gonna go back to the ferocious kind of rock 'n' roll of the Kinks, the Who and the Yardbirds. It's the kind of music that makes you wish you were playing it or listening to it for the first time 'way back when.'" But the record would not reach the mass audience of those bands, its success hampered by erratic release schedules and disastrously awkward press interviews. A year after its release, Erickson would become convinced that a Martian had inhabited his body. He would soon become obsessed with mail, and take to taping it, unopened, to his bedroom walls. Many of Erickson's demons were yet to show their faces. But the B-movie demons he exorcised on this record gave us one of hard rock's strangest, most inventive albums. * CD & 2xLP housed in deluxe gatefold "tip-on" jackets with book-deep liner notes by Joe Nick Patoski * Originally released in the UK as the 10 song album Five Symbols in 1980 and as The Evil One in 1981 (with 5 songs replaced), this definitive CD gathers all 15 songs from the Stu Cook (Creedence Clearwater Revival) late 1977-79 produced sessions. * 2xLP includes 20-pg booklet, download card for full album, and etching by artist Travis Millard (Side D) * CD includes 48-pg booklet * Rare / unseen archive photos and ephemera
