How to Tune the Strings | Violin Lessons

03:07
Like these Violin Lessons !!! Check out the official app http://apple.co/1j9RYlp Watch more How to Play the Violin videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/501238-How-to-Tune-the-Strings-Violin-Lessons Okay. So, now I'm gonna teach you how to tune your strings. You always start with the A string first. And then, you can either take your tuning fork or your metronome, which should probably have a tuner on it to tune your violin as well. And you find the A. And you match that A with your violin. Now, in order to tune the strings properly, the A string, you always tune with your peg and you tune it with your thumb and usually your index finger and sometimes, also your middle finger. So, if you want the string higher, you tune it up and if you want the string lower, you tune the string down. And to go back up again, you tune it up. Okay. Now, I'm gonna tune it again, but first, I need to hear the A on the metronome. I think that matches pretty well. And now, in order to tune the other strings, now that you have a perfect A string, you tune the other strings related to what the A string sounds like. So, I'm gonna tune the D string next with the A string together. So it sounds like this. Now, to me, my D string sounds a little bit flat, a little bit low, that means, so I'm gonna tune it higher. That sounds better to me. Now, I'm gonna tune the G string to the D string, so that I have something to relate it to. Now that the D string is tuned, I can relate the G string to the D string. And then, last, but not least, you tune the E string with the A string. Now, the E string, I tuned with the fine tuner because usually that's enough. You don't need, the E string's much thinner and you don't need, you know, the big peg to tune that. Just the fine tuner is good enough. So, you just tune it clockwise to go higher and counter clockwise to go lower. And now, your violin is perfectly in tune and ready to be played.

Top 10 Gig Bag Essentials For Bass Players + 8 Pro Bonus Tips! /// Scott's Bass Lessons

Coming to a gig prepared can really help you out if disaster strikes and you are much more likely to be called back to play again if you can deal with those situations well. During the lesson Scott touches on the importance of having a tuner. For any musician, whether you’re a hobbyist or professional, having a tuner can make a large difference in a live situation. Besides the obvious benefits of being able to stay consistently in tune over the course of a set, there is the added benefit of being able to do so silently. As much as tuning by ear is a valuable skill, in the context of a performance being able to tune quickly and silently can add an air of professionalism to your performances. It’s also quite handy being able to turn on your pedal just to mute your bass in silent sections. Tuning up by ear in the middle of a set can really interrupt the flow of the set and will at best be met by a room full of expressionless faces. I’ve have actually seen the support band at quite a large venue do this before and it really took away from what was otherwise great music. I also can’t imagine it gave a good impression to the band they were supporting. You can never really underestimate the value of having a back up. I've had nearly new leads die on me in the middle of a song on more than one occasion. I actually used to have a teacher who carried around an A440 tuning fork as a backup for tuning. I am not really sure what has to happen on a gig for you to break out a tuning fork but I imagine it’s not dissimilar to the apocalypse. Gig Bag Essentials: - Spare Strings - Snippers (Pliers) - Power Extension (Power Strip) - Multitool - Tuner - Leads (Instrument Cables), Patch Cables, Power Cables - Stand - 9V Batteries - Strap - Ear Plugs Pro Bonuses: - String Cloth - Torch/Maglight - Music Stand - Music Stand Light - Clothes Pegs - The Real Book - Pen, Pencil & Paper - Volume Pedal (Dunlop Volume X) Your Homework: What’s your number one gig bag essential? Do you have a gear related gig disaster story? Let us know in the comments below! - See you all next week, Travis Moore - Academy Community manager. === Right now over 10,000 bass players are enrolled in the Academy here at Scott's Bass Lessons and are making a real difference to their playing... if you're really serious about getting your bass playing together, click here to find out more and grab your FREE trial: http://bit.ly/2x6zxG5

Celestial Walk (instrumental, 430.65 Hz., 720p)

06:34
This is a portion of a film score I'm working on, but it also has a higher purpose: to heal. It is said that music, when in harmony with nature, heals, and even repairs DNA. I'm open-minded and would like to test this theory/claim. Anyone out there would like to test it with me is welcome. Use this sample and tell me if you notice any changes e.g. in mood, health, the ability to concentrate, sleep, etc. I used a chromatic tuner and managed 430.9; it's really difficult to achieve more accuracy using the Pano Tuner app. If there's a better one, please advise. Appreciate your feedback. Thanks! Of course, the plan is to write the score, which is gonna be huge InShaAllah :) and record, also live symphony orchestra performances. It's inevitable that I will be breaking rules and bending genres because... music. It will take changing laws and ISO standards for me and others who strive to get to showcase what music... we come from, and I will be working on that. Any support from people who want to restore the planet and see it and its inhabitants living in harmony, peace and love, is appreciated. Love, Amy

Sound Science Lesson Starters Key Stage 3 & 4

13:55
Show Key Stage 3/4 physics students the different effects of sound, as demonstrated in this classroom resource for secondary science, designed to be used on an interactive whiteboard. Download sectioned video and get resources at http://www.acoustics.salford.ac.uk/schools/lesson_starters Using high-speed camera technology, Trevor Cox professor of acoustics at the University of Salford, conducts experiments in sound. He firstly shows what happens when rubbing the rim of a glass of water is slowed down to 80 times less than normal speed. Trevor then demonstrates the sound effects of a tuning fork, a triangle, a cymbal and a guitar, as well as the impact of sound on a soap bubble, burning candles and a wine glass. Using an oscilloscope Trevor then shows the difference in frequencies produced by different octaves played on a saxophone. The 'confusaphone' shows what happens when one's left and right hearing is mixed up, and Trevor examines the effect of a sonic boom, created by a cracking whip. He finally assesses the effect of echo and the varying sounds we can create with our own bodies. Originally developed for Teachers TV

This video demonstrates using the Practical Technician’s Tuning Card 1 to locate and play the basic interval tests of piano tuning. Learning to hear the tests is a subtle skill that requires practice and experience with different pianos. Don’t worry if you can’t hear all the beat relationships described in the video. Get busy using the card to become fluent in playing the tests. Other references will teach you more about these tests, and tuning them with a mentor or friend may be the best practice of all.

Yamaha XT 660 Z - Budget Adventure Modifications - How to do it?

17:55
Yamaha XT 660 Z Budget Adventure Set up. Cheap modifications. List of modifications I made: Forks are from Yamaha YZ 450. I changed the springs with stiffer. Triple clamp form the same model. I used the original stem, press it to the new clamp. Modification for the lock. Some caenges and a spacer required on the top screw. Excel wheel from Yamaha YZ. New brake rotor (disc) 320mm, to replace the stock two. Spacer required. New brake line, I thing was just a standard 110mm. Front fender from KTM 990 Adventure, some modification required to fit. Replace the stock 22mm with 28mm bars. Hand guards from Acerbis. Cut the tale, just left the metal holder and rip off all plastic parts. Mounted the indicators on the frame. New stop light, small, bought it from motorcycle goods store. New Exhaust SM Racing, 5 kg lighter. Power commander fit under the seat. Change the seat, better foam and leveled. Side covers from Honda XR. High front screen, I am 185sm. Brake pedal I changed with one from Suzuki DR. I toke the front part from the DR and rear with mount from the Tenere and welded together. I made from two - one pedal. Gear shift from Touratech. Keep in mind that it need some modifications to fit properly. It was hiting the frame every time when I was put on 1st gear, but it depends of the position you mounted. Bash plate I made myself. I couldn't find the one I need it. Bigger pegs, I bought cheap from Ebay - 10 $, made in China, work perfectly. In the result of all the changes I made the bike become about 180kg (about 15-20 kg lighter). The front become a bit harder, but I like the feeling. I still have plans to change the rear shock and the rear wheel, but.... I spent almost 100,000km without doing it. I hope this information will help somebody! Don't forget - Ride safe! Bell Labs' Henry Feinberg Demonstrates Ways of Using Light to Transmit Sound Waves, 1978

26:47
The difference between science and magic may seem obvious, but in this video Henry Feinberg easily makes the two come together in a fun and, at times, dazzling presentation of using light waves to carry sound. In this entertaining show Feinberg presents a working version of Alexander Graham Bell's Photophone, as well as experiments in other principles of light. Before his 30-year tenure at Bell Labs, Feinberg worked with Don Herbert, televisio's "Mr. Wizard", developing experiments that were both fun and educational. Using everyday household items, that show's experiments seemed like magic tricks, capturing their youthful audienceís imagination and helping instill an interest in science. Feinberg continued that mixing of science and entertainment while working for Bell. He helped develop exhibits for AT&T at the InfoQuest Center in New York City and the Epcot Center in Florida. However, Feinberg's most famous creation really was a piece of magic - movie magic. In 1982 Bell Labs was approached by Steven Spielberg to design a device that might be created by an errant Earth-bound alien to communicate with his ship in outer space. Bell declined to work on the film but referred Spielberg to Feinberg, who gladly tackled the job on his own time. The resulting film, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, became an instant classic, with Feinberg's "Communicator" built out of toys and household items, proving to be a central and delightful part of the movie. Feinberg worked at Bell Labs until his retirement in 1998. Since then he has continued to contribute to science education as an exhibit designer and consultant for museums, and as a science enthusiast of inter-galactic dimensions. Bow building Tools for making a primitive bow, self bow, recurve, or longbow

09:59
Although you can build a primitive bow with nothing but an obsidian flake, there are several basic hand tools that that will make the bow building process a lot easier. I use a draw knife and farrier's rasp for 90% of the work that will be done on a self bow. The draw knife is used for removing bark and sapwood, removing wood from the bow's belly, shaping the profile, etc. I use the wood rasp for shapign the bow handle, nocks, and for some tillering. Additional bowyer tools include a carbide hacksaw blade and chainsaw file for cutting string grooves. A compass for scribing lines accuratly. A saw for cutting the arrow shelf. I also use a heat gun extansivly for building a recurve bow. For measureing the draw weight of your bow, a simple bathroom scale will work just fine. Aside from being fun, bow making is a great way to improve your bushcraft, self reliance and survival skills. Evne if you never intend to hunt with a bow you've made, just going through the process can teach you a lot about yourself. If you do plan on bow hunting with a primitive bow, you'll have plenty of opportunity to hone your skills as a hunter and archer. Traditional archery demands dedication. Episode 117 Karen Newell - Using Sacred Acoustics to Connect to the Afterlife & Our Souls

57:09
http://wedontdieradio.com/ Sacred Acoustics co-founder Karen Newell is an innovator in the emerging field of brainwave entrainment audio meditation, and empowers others in their own journeys of discovery. Using Sacred Acoustics recordings, she teaches you how to enter and engage your own consciousness in order to connect to inner guidance, achieve inspiration, improve wellness and develop intuition. Also available is being able to quiet the mind and even the possibility of connecting to our deceased loved ones. At international workshops presented with best-selling author Dr. Eben Alexander, Karen demonstrates key practices of consciousness exploration: heart awareness, intention, maintaining neutrality, emotional management and cultivating internal knowing. Karen's lifelong passion and interest in historical and ancient cultures, especially sacred sites, led to her unconventional understanding of our present existence. It became clear that in the search for answers to fundamental questions, direct experience is crucial. Karen attended a broad range of hands-on, experiential courses that prepared her to teach others how to connect to their own energetic fields. Meditation and heart awareness were central elements to her many different subjects of study. But Karen found it extremely challenging to sit still with focused attention for any length of time. She discovered that the most effective aid for meditation was monotonous sound — not music and singing melodies, but the simple tones produced by crystal bowls, tuning forks, gongs, chimes and human chanting. When it came to modern methods, Karen found that the regular practice of listening to recordings containing binaural beats minimized distracting thoughts and restlessness, allowing her to finally reach the expanded states of awareness she sought. Karen joined with Kevin Kossi to create original recordings unmatched by any others either of them had experienced. Together, they created Sacred Acoustics. During 26-years working in the magazine and newspaper publishing field, Karen held key leadership positions involved with the direction and management of technology transitions faced by the print industry. Her business skills include web development, desktop publishing, communications, information technology, project management and strategic planning. In this episode Karen mentions the book “Margins of Reality” available at: http://amzn.to/2dapVj0 She also mentions how listeners can put into practice their “intention” using her free OM audio available at: http://www.sacredacoustics.com/pages/free-download-sign-up This is a really great episode with amazing possibilities available for all of us. How To Prepare For An Elk Hunt

01:32
Before you even get to your destination, you need to prepare for your elk hunt. Scott Hatch from Three Forks Ranch in Colorado advises first-time elk hunters to get in shape. You need to get physically fit well in advance of your hunt. Once you get there, you will need to get acclimated to the altitude, so don’t overdo your climb even if you are physically ready. And always drink plenty of water before, during and after the hunt. Clair de Lune--made visible with CymaScope

06:05
2018 is the 100th anniversary of Debussy's passing and we decided to honor his life and genius with release of this full length version of his much-loved 'Clair de Lune', made visible with a CymaScope instrument. This exciting new technology imprints music onto the surface and sub surface of pure water, rendering beautiful music as beautiful geometry. The resulting imagery is not the commonly seen 'visualizer' patterns created by a computer. The quasi-3D imagery you will see is literally the music made visible for you to enjoy, with your sight and your hearing. The gifted concert pianist is Daniel Levy. All audible sounds are bubble-like in form as they leave a musical instrument or someone's mouth. The CymaScope instrument images a cross section through the ever-changing and shimmering sonic bubble, as seen in this video. Many people believe that Clair de Lune has healing qualities and this year, Debussy's sublime music will be put to the test. We plan to conduct a series of tests in which human blood is exposed to various genres of music and selected single tones, to test Pythagoras' belief that music can be a form of medicine. We hypothesise that human blood cells will live longer when exposed to certain soundscapes, versus control samples of blood with no sound. The experiments are a joint collaboration between GreenMedInfo.com, Roadmusic.co and CymaScope.com To join us on an exciting journey of discovery and be part of an important contribution to science and medicine, please visit our Experiment page: https://experiment.com/projects/can-music-influence-the-longevity-of-human-blood-cells For more information on CymaScope technology please visit cymascope.com

A video explaining my class's "How to Measure the Hallway Using the Speed of Sound" experiment and how, after troubleshooting our way through many problems, we've found ourselves at a point where we're a bit stuck. We plan to attack this problem again in a few weeks, so any input, suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. "the world is big, your classroom is small" http://www.gazdonianproductions.com/

Teach Astronomy - Resonance

01:24
http://www.teachastronomy.com/ Resonance is a phenomenon that's common to all vibrations and waves. It's a situation where a vibration, a wave, or an oscillation caused by one object induces a vibration, a wave, or an oscillation in another object. Obvious example of resonance is the fact that soldiers must break step when they walk across a bridge in case the pattern of their marching motion corresponds to a natural frequency of the bridge, in which case the marching adds energy to the bridge motion which amplifies it into a wave that could destroy the bridge. A better example is pushing a child on a swing. Assume you walk up to a swing where a child is swinging. If you then push the swing with random intervals you will on average loose energy from the swing and the swing will stop. If, however you wait until the swing is just moving forward or every second forward motion or every third or forth or fifth forward motion you will add energy to the swing. This is a resonance. At a fixed period interval, adding energy to the system will increase the original motion. You can see this also occurring with a bell or a tuning fork. If the bell is struck or the tuning fork is struck a similar bell or tuning fork some distance away will resonate.
