Would you believe that the majority of the population — up to 90 percent of adults in the United States — is believed to have a vitamin D deficiency? Many physicians are starting to take this vitamin deficiency very seriously; in fact, vitamin D is one of the most recommended supplements by physicians today. Vitamin D is a fat soluble vitamin that is stored in the liver and fatty tissues. This means that increased body fat has the ability to absorb vitamin D and keep it from being used within our body. Vitamin D is somewhat different than other vitamins because our body makes most of our vitamin D on its own, rather than solely relying on food sources. Alice Branton is a dynamic leader, distinguished executive, galvanizing speaker and disruptive entrepreneur. She is on a mission to champion the breakthrough science of Life Force Energy and its applications in pharmaceutical and nutraceutical product research to usher in a new era of human health and wellness. Along with Mahendra Trivedi, founder of the Trivedi Effect, Alice is the co-author of over 250 research papers on the science of Life Force energy that are published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Alice’s research has been featured in over 1,000 universities in the U.S., including the Ivy League and the National Institutes of Health, as well as in over 3,000 universities worldwide across more than 130 countries. With all the medical advancements over the last hundred years, vitamin D deficiency is still a global pandemic. Vitamin D deficiency is a major public health problem worldwide irrespective of age, location, ethnicity and gender. Even in those residing in countries with low latitude, where it was generally assumed that UV radiation was adequate enough to prevent this deficiency, and in industrialized countries, where vitamin D fortification has been implemented now for years. Over 75% population in USA is deficient. Vitamin D deficiency causes rickets in children and will precipitate and exacerbate osteopenia, osteoporosis, and fractures in adults. Vitamin D3 deficiency can result in obesity, diabetes, hypertension, depression, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome and neuro-degenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease. Vitamin D deficiency may even contribute to the development of cancers, especially breast, prostate, and colon cancers. Vitamin D, known as the sunshine vitamin, is produced endogenously by the human body in response to skin being exposed to sunlight. Very few foods contain naturally occurring vitamin D, and foods that are fortified with vitamin D are often inadequate to satisfy our vitamin D requirement. Alice Branton, CEO of Trivedi Global, Inc., is on a mission to champion the breakthrough of highly bioavailable food and supplement products to combat the vitamin D deficiency. Alice Branton and Mahendra Trivedi, the founder of the Trivedi Effect, have the unique ability to harness and transmit Life Force and infuse it into living organisms and non-living materials to greatly enhance, potentize and alter their characteristics and behaviors through transformation at the atomic, molecular and cellular levels. The Trivedi Effect has been tested and validated in over 4,000 scientific experiments with world renowned scientists and research institutes using the most sophisticated technologies available globally and has resulted in over 300 publications in major international peer-reviewed scientific journals with over 3100 citations. Research on the Trivedi Effect has been adopted in over 3000 universities internationally including the ivy league as well as the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In preclinical trials the Trivedi Effect has seen subjects increase their vitamin D3 synthesis by over 120%, much higher than the daily requirement. Alice herself, is a true living example of the power this breakthrough of the Trivedi Effect as the only real factor impacting quality of life, healthy aging and longevity. In May 2017 at forty-six years of age, a comprehensive full-body digital x-ray analysis revealed that Alice has no signs of degeneration and remarkably has a functioning growing cartilage as well as significant bone mineralization that is indicative of a healthy woman, twenty years of age. Never ignore these warning signs of vitamin b12 deficiency - Vitamin b12 defiency symptoms Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUxKlAVpt5s Please subscribe our channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/livehealthylifeofficial Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Live-Healthy-Life-1645151002425115 Follow us on Twitter : https://twitter.com/livehealthylif1 Follow us on Google+ : https://plus.google.com/+LiveHealthyLifeofficial Mineral deficiencies are more common than vitamin deficiencies, statistics show that one in four adults takes care of the lack of vitamin B12. This video focuses on the causes of vitamin B12, the main symptoms, as well as some tips on how to remedy this deficiency in a totally natural way. Since it increases energy in the evening and gives a boost of energy while doing cardio exercises, vitamin B12 is often referred to as the "energy" vitamin. In addition, it looks like an effective weight loss tool and has become all the rage in medical weight loss clinic. Its popularity goes to the size of clinics and health spas that offer discounts for vitamin B12 injections. Vitamin B12 is of utmost importance as it takes a vital role in many bodily functions. These include: - Good digestion. - Iron Absorption. - Fat and Carbohydrate Metabolism. - Nervous growth and training. - Healthy reproductive system in women. - Adrenal hormone secretion. - Circulation. - Formation of red blood cells. - Healthy nervous system. CAUSES OF DEFICIENCY OF VITAMIN B12. Vitamin B12 deficiency can be triggered by different factors, of which the following are the most common: - Antacids affect the assimilation of vitamin B12 because the body needs enough stomach acid to absorb it. - Nitrous oxide, also known as laughter gas, destroys vitamin B12 in the body - Drinking more than 4 cups of coffee a day leads to a 15 percent reduction in vitamin B12 levels. - Gastric bypass weight loss surgery changes digestive mechanisms, affecting the absorption of vitamin B12. - The H. pylori bacterium destroys the stomach cells that create the "intrinsic factor", which are necessary for the absorption of vitamin B12. SYMPTOMS OF DEFICIENCY OF VITAMIN B12. Optic Nerves / Vision Problems. In case you notice any changes in your vision, such as double or blurred vision, test your vitamin B12 levels, since deficiency in this vitamin often leads to vision problems. Anxiety. Since vitamin B12 stimulates the production of dopamine and serotonin, known as "happy" brain chemicals, anxiety is often a warning sign of low levels of vitamin B12. Changes in taste. The blows on the tongue are responsible for recognizing the taste of the food you eat. In case you notice changes in your taste and often get a 'blah' impression of food, it is very likely that you are deficient in vitamin B12. Yellow skin. When the body lacks vitamin B12, it loses its ability to produce strong cells. The degradation of red blood cells causes yellow skin and is a sure sign of vitamin B12 deficiency. Memory loss. Memory loss is often caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, especially in young people who are young to develop dementia. Inability to keep your eyes open. This is a result of lack of oxygen in the blood, which is caused directly by deficiency of the vitamin itself. Dizziness. Feeling dizzy is another sign of lack of oxygen in the blood. Numbness. Sensation of numbness and tingling is the result of nerve damage, which occurs due to vitamin B12 deficiency. RISK GROUPS READY TO B12 DEFICIENCY. - Vegans and vegetarians who do not eat animal products. - Diabetics on Metformin, since this drug affects the absorption of vitamin B12. - People 60 years or older who do not have enough stomach acid. - People diagnosed with autoimmune disorders, such as celiac or Crohn's disease.

A Study on Vitamin D Deficiencies - http://thejoelarchive.com Dr. Wallach starts the show citing statistic regarding the medical industry. Stating that according to government statistics some 15,000 Medicare patients die every month in the U.S. Doc asserts that if any other industry such as plumbers killed that many people every month the government would shut them down. Contending that the medical industry has legislated itself into a protected monopoly. Pearls of Wisdom Doug Winfrey and Dr. Wallach discuss a news article concerning a study on vitamin D deficiencies. The study found that higher levels of vitamin D through supplementation caused muscles to recover quicker. Vitamin D deficiency can lead to poor bone health and muscle fatigue. Researchers found vitamin D supplementation helped muscle cells replenish phosphocreatine a compound cells use for producing energy. If you’re a parent, or plan to be one, it might be more important to your child’s growth than all other vitamins combined. And only you, a parent, can provide it. I call it Vitamin N. The word “No.” More and more children, I find, are suffering from Vitamin N deficiency. And they, their parents, and our entire culture are paying the price. Let me illustrate my point with a story that’s quite typical. A father, I’ll call him Bill, gave his son, age five, pretty much everything the little boy asked for. Like most parents, Bill wanted more than anything for his son to be happy. But he wasn’t. Instead he was petulant, moody, and often sullen. He was also having problems getting along with other children. In addition, he was very demanding and rarely if ever expressed any appreciation, let alone gratitude, for all the things Bill and his wife were giving him. Was his son depressed, Bill wanted to know? Did he need therapy? His son, I told him, was suffering the predictable ill effects of being over-indulged. What he needed was a healthy and steady dose of Vitamin N. Over-indulgence–a deficiency of Vitamin N—leads to its own form of addiction. When the point of diminishing returns is passed (and it’s passed fairly early on), the receiving of things begins to generate nothing but want for more things. One terrible effect of this is that our children are becoming accustomed to a material standard that’s out of kilter with what they can ever hope to achieve as adults. Consider also that many, if not most, children attain this level of affluence not by working, sacrificing, or doing their best, but by whining, demanding, and manipulating. So in the process of inflating their material expectations, we also teach children that something can be had for next to nothing. Not only is that a falsehood, it’s also one of the most dangerous, destructive attitudes a person can acquire. This may go a long way toward explaining why the mental health of children in the 1950s – when kids got a lot less -- was significantly better than the mental health of today’s kids. Since the ‘50s, and especially in the last few decades, as indulgence has become the parenting norm, the rates of child and teen depression have skyrocketed. Children who grow up believing in the something-for-nothing fairy tale are likely to become emotionally stunted, self-centered adults. Then, when they themselves become parents, they’re likely to overdose their children with material things – the piles of toys, plushies, and gadgets one finds scattered around most households. In that way, over indulgence—a deficiency of Vitamin N—becomes an inherited disease, an addiction passed from one generation to the next. This also explains why children who get too much of what they want rarely take proper care of anything they have. Why should they? After all, experience tells them that more is always on the way. Have you ever considered that you might be Vitamin D deficient? According to some statistics, there’s a very good chance that you are. Some reports put the percentage of people with a Vitamin D deficiency as high as fifty percent. That’s a staggering number of people who could be suffering from serious health issues that could be alleviated, in part, by more sunshine. This lack of an essential vitamin can have significant consequences for your everyday life, that you may have never associated with not getting enough sunlight. These consequences include depression, cancer, and fragile bones. Yes, the primary source for Vitamin D is the sun. Our body converts sunlight into nutrients that strengthen our bones and muscles. However, the sun isn’t the only source for Vitamin D. It’s found predominantly in fresh fish and eggs, but can also be bought in supplement form. Vitamins D-1, D-2, and D-3 are all fat soluble and are commonly found in all health food stores. If you think you might be in that fifty percent that suffers from a lack of Vitamin D, take a look at these symptoms for more information. ---------------------------------------- ▶ Subscribe to the channel - https://goo.gl/3tB19z ▶ Natural Cures en español - https://goo.gl/QcoLf2 ▶ नेचर क्योर्स - Natural Cures (Hindi) - https://goo.gl/okYDFd ▶ Mindfully Yours - https://goo.gl/qXiBjy Disclaimer: The materials and the information contained on Natural Cures channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Lastly, you want to take your vitamin D3 with some form of fat like coconut oil or avocado to help absorption in your body. ✳ Grab your (free) vegan quick-start guide to get all the nutrients and energy you need: http://bit.ly/veganook-start ✳ Check out my book, Protein from Plants: http://bit.ly/protein-from-plants Without vitamin D, you won't absorb and use calcium properly, and the lack of both calcium and vitamin D will weaken the structure of your bones. Researchers are also starting to link vitamin D deficiency with all kinds of health problems and diseases. If you think I'm talking about just a vegetarian or vegan diet plan being deficient in vitamin D, I'm not - meat eaters should be just as concerned here. The results of a 2009 study showed that the majority of both vegetarians (59%) and meat-eaters (64%) do not have sufficient blood levels of vitamin D (Chan J, Jaceldo-Siegl K, Fraser GE. Serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D status of vegetarians, partial vegetarians, and nonvegetarians: the Adventist Health Study-2. Am J Clin Nutr. 2009 May;89(5):1686S-1692S. Epub 2009 Apr 1 - I found this at www.veganhealth.org/articles/bones#recvitd). Diet contributed less than half the RDA for vitamin D of 400IU in this study, whether it included meat or was a vegetarian or vegan diet plan. With lots of respected health and nutrition experts now recommending a lot more than that (1000-2000IU, or even more), you can see that we all have a big gap to fill in and should be conscious of what the symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are. Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms: muscle weakness pain in ribs, spine, legs muscle cramps rickets, insomnia nearsightedness malformation of bones Since these aren't the most specific symptoms, getting a blood test done to see your actual levels is a good idea. Then you can come up with a strategy for getting enough vitamin D, which might include getting some daily sunshine and taking a supplement. If you take a vitamin D supplement (which I think it a great idea, and I have a recommendation for you here: http://www.heathernicholds.com/supplements), this is one vitamin that can build up in your body and cause issues if you take too much. You'll also want to be aware of the symptoms that happen with too much vitamin D. Symptoms of Vitamin D Toxicity: frequent urination loss of appetite nausea and vomiting tiredness or drowsiness dizziness calcium deposits in soft tissues Helpful links ⭢ Vegan meal plans: http://bit.ly/veganook-me-plans ⭢ My favorite vegan cookbooks: http://a.co/itvwZ5w ⭢ My favorite Vega protein+greens powder: http://amzn.to/2krE4BE ⭢ My daily vegan supplements: http://a.co/abTOprG veganook Ⓥ Recipes: http://bit.ly/2kvf4tD Ⓥ Nutrition & Wellness Blog: http://bit.ly/veganook-blog Ⓥ Shop: http://bit.ly/1P2xvMM Stay connected ✔ Subscribe on YouTube: http://bit.ly/1fNLSVx ✔ Instagram: http://bit.ly/ig-heathernicholds (@heathernicholds) ✔ Facebook: http://bit.ly/fb-heathernicholds (@heathernicholds) ✔ Subscribe to my weekly emails: http://bit.ly/veganook-start This video is NOT sponsored. What is vitamin B12, what are the causes and prevalence of deficiencies, where is it found, and what is the best source? Dr. Pineda Ochoa answers all of these questions and more in this short presentation. The first part of the transcript is included below for reference, and the full transcript (which is too long to post here) is available on our website, along with sources and credits, here: http://meatyourfuture.com/2016/05/vitaminb12/ [The following transcript is an approximation of the audio in video. To hear the audio and see the accompanying visuals, please play the video.] PARTIAL TRANSCRIPT: More and more mainstream health authorities are promoting plant-based vegan diets – like Kaiser Permanente, one of the largest HMOs in the U.S. that wants to make plant-based diets “the new normal for [its] patients and employees”; or the president of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Kim Williams, who vigorously promotes a vegan diet; or the chair of Harvard’s Department of Nutrition, Dr. Walter Willett, who recommends “choosing plant proteins over animal proteins.” As we see this awareness about plant-based nutrition increase, concern is sometimes expressed about vegan diets and vitamin B12 deficiencies. Some might ask, “If a vegan diet really is healthy and natural, why do I need to watch my vitamin B12 levels or take vitamin B12 supplements?” And this is a great question. So, let’s review the current information about vitamin B12, and the causes and prevalence of vitamin B12 deficiencies. Vitamin B12, also called cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin. It is produced by bacteria, not animals or plants. So animals, including humans, must obtain vitamin B12 directly or indirectly from bacteria. In the past, vitamin B12 from bacteria was naturally and more reliably present in plant foods. Today, however, with modern hygienic practices that more deeply clean and sanitize our produce, along with the soil being exposed to more antibiotics and pesticides, most plant foods are no longer reliable sources for vitamin B12. And, it’s probably not a good idea to go back and reverse sanitary practices just to get more of this bacterial product in our diet. http://utahtexans.com/ Click on the link above for a free report to choosing supplements for better health. Almost 40% of the population just in the U.S. is deficient in vitamin B12 according to Tufts University in Boston. Now, Vitamin B12 is water soluble and this means that it gets flushed out of someone's system on a daily basis and needs to be replenished every day. What this substance does is help with the creation of red blood cells that carry oxygen around the body. Since organs needs oxygen to function one of the first symptoms a person may experience is fatigue and low energy. This can also bring about pale skin and cold hands or feed since other organs need the oxygen. Next up would be a headache, dizziness, cognitive problems and confusion. Now if someone's red blood count gets too low it could lead to permanent brain damage, since the brain needs oxygen to survive. Lastly irregular heartbeats and chest pain can all occur. Besides carry oxygen this vitamin helps nerve cells stay healthy. I like to think of nerve cells as little postal workers, but they have super powers. Nerve cells are responsible for sending and receiving messages from touch, sight, hearing, smell and pain. As you can imagine without B12 a bunch of these little super postal workers could call in sick and your whole body system might not work as good. It's also extremely important for pregnant woman and a deficiency could make it 5 times more likely that a woman gives birth to a child with a birth defect. Another use of this stuff would be for the replication of DNA. Your cells only live for so long then they die and are reborn again into new cells. For example skin cells live around 2 to 4 weeks and we lose around a million skin cells in a day. When skin cells don't replicate correctly it could lead to all kinds of problems such as wrinkles and weakened organs. In fact many health experts believe it's a main source of the aging process. It is also used for metabolism which is breaking down food into energy. Increased amounts of this vitamin will not help with weight loss, but a deficiency can damage regular metabolism and lead to stunted growth and mental retardation. So to sum everything up, DANG, talk about important yea don't be deficient in this stuff. Foods with the most vitamin B12 would include liver, fish, dairy products, soy, and eggs. The fact is our food nowadays doesn't have the nutritional value like it used to and because of this I highly recommend taking a good multi-vitamin supplement. This way you ensure you are not going to be deficient in any vitamins. Contrary to what you might believe not all supplements are created equal and there is a lot of crap out there. Shopping for a good supplement can be confusing, frustrating and not very fun. To make things a little easier for you I have created a free guide about this topic. It goes over to identify a good brand from a poor one, herbal remedies and even the role of government agencies that protect us. Some estimate that as much as 15% of the US population may be zinc deficient. In particular, those on raw food diets, which are lower in zinc than the USDA's RDA for the mineral, and those eating cooked vegan diets based around grains and legumes, are often particularly worried about deficiency. If you're concerned that you may be zinc deficient, you can do a simple test at home to help you find out. I tell you how to do it in this video. Another influenza season is beginning, and the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will strongly urge Americans to get a flu shot. In fact, the CDC mounts a well-orchestrated campaign each season to generate interest and demand for flu shots. But a recent study published in the October issue of the Archives of Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine found that vaccinating young children against the flu appeared to have no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons. At first glance, the data did suggest that children between the ages of 6 months and 5 years derived some protection from vaccination in these years. But after adjusting for potentially relevant variables, the researchers concluded that "significant influenza vaccine effectiveness could not be demonstrated for any season, age, or setting" examined. Additionally, a Group Health study found that flu shots do not protect elderly people against developing pneumonia -- the primary cause of death resulting as a complication of the flu. Others have questioned whether there is any mortality benefit with influenza vaccination. Vaccination coverage among the elderly increased from 15 percent in 1980 to 65 percent now, but there has been no decrease in deaths from influenza or pneumonia. There is some evidence that flu shots cause Alzheimers disease, most likely as a result of combining mercury with aluminum and formaldehyde. Mercury in vaccines has also been implicated as a cause of autism. Three other serious adverse reactions to the flu vaccine are joint inflammation and arthritis, anaphylactic shock (and other life-threatening allergic reactions), and Guillain-Barré syndrome, a paralytic autoimmune disease. One credible hypothesis that explains the seasonal nature of flu is that influenza is a vitamin D deficiency disease. Vitamin D levels in your blood fall to their lowest point during flu seasons. Unable to be protected by the bodys own antibiotics (antimicrobial peptides) that are released by vitamin D, a person with a low vitamin D blood level is more vulnerable to contracting colds, influenza, and other respiratory infections. Studies show that children with rickets, a vitamin D-deficient skeletal disorder, suffer from frequent respiratory infections, and children exposed to sunlight are less likely to get a cold. The increased number of deaths that occur in winter, largely from pneumonia and cardiovascular diseases, are most likely due to vitamin D deficiency. Unfortunately, now, for the first time, flu vaccination is also being pushed for virtually all children -- not just those under 5. This is a huge change. Previously, flu vaccine was recommended only for youngsters under 5, who can become dangerously ill from influenza. This year, the government is recommending that children from age 6 months to 18 years be vaccinated, expanding inoculations to 30 million more school-age children. The government argues that while older children seldom get as sick as the younger ones, it's a bigger population that catches flu at higher rates, so the change should cut missed school, and parents' missed work when they catch the illness from their children. Of course, this policy ignores the fact that a systematic review of 51 studies involving 260,000 children age 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo. For more on Vitamin B12 foods, you can check out my article: https://draxe.com/top-10-vitamin-b12-foods/ In this video, I’m going to talk about how to overcome Vitamin B12 deficiency and the health benefits of Vitamin B12. Surprisingly, about 40% of the population is deficient. Some of the big warning signs that you are Vitamin B12 deficient are if you struggle with low energy, fatigue, lack of focus, poor memory, poor cellular function, autoimmune disease, anemia, or thyroid condition. The biggest reason most people have Vitamin B12 deficiency is because they don’t have a healthy digestive system to digest this vitamin properly, also known as leaky gut. If you can’t absorb nutrients and vitamins properly, then you won’t be able to absorb the vitamins you need for optimal health. People who struggle with leaky gut or digestive issues, vegans or vegetarians, and people who don’t have enough probiotics in their diet all tend to have a Vitamin B12 deficiency. Some of the benefits of Vitamin B12 include red blood cell formation, which is vital to heart health, cellular function, and supporting the brain and nerve system. If you want to overcome Vitamin B12 deficiency, then you must follow these specific steps: 1. Consume more Vitamin B12-rich foods (liver, wild-caught fish, grass-fed lamb and beef, and raw dairy products) 2. Take a Probiotic (increases absorption) 3. Heal your gut (getting inflammatory foods out of your diet) 4. Supplementation (Vitamin B12, B complex, desiccated liver supplement) If you can follow these steps, you will notice improvements immediately and overcome your Vitamin B12 deficiency. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Signs and Symptoms You May Have a Vitamin D Deficiency. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is involved in many essential body processes and functions. Produced in the body with the help of ultraviolet rays from sunlight, this vitamin is important for boosting the immune system, reducing inflammation, promoting cell growth, supporting neuromuscular functions and more. When you do not get enough sunlight or eat foods rich in vitamin D, you are at a higher risk of suffering from vitamin D deficiency or vitamin d cancer . Please note: The content provided below and elsewhere on this video is not intended nor should it be construed as providing professional medical or nutritional advice. Do not rely on information provided on this video about vitamin d deficiency symptoms for your health problems. instead, consult a qualified medical professional for advice and get vitamin d foods. Here are 10 warning signs that you may have a low vitamin d. 01:02 Impaired Immunity. 02:05 Bone Pain. 03:09 Tiredness and Fatigue. 04:07 Mood Swings. 05:06 Psoriasis 06:03 Digestive Problems. 07:02 Excessive Sweating. 08:01 High Blood Pressure. 09:08 Overweight or Obese. The most important sign of low vitamin D is weak or impaired immunity, causing you to more easily pick up illnesses or lack foods with vitamin d. Vitamin D supports proper functioning of the T cells that build immunity to help your body fight foreign, invading organisms. A 2011 study published in the Journal of Investigative Medicine highlights that vitamin D helps modulate the innate and adaptive immune responses and its deficiency is associated with increased autoimmunity as well as increased susceptibility to infections. Vitamin D is important for bone so you must find best treatment for vitamin d deficiency or you can get vitamin d supplement, cartilage and muscle function. Lack of adequate vitamin D in the body can cause general muscle pain, muscle cramps and chronic joint pain. Due to low vitamin D, calcium does not reach your skeletal system, thus contributing to bone pains. In fact, its deficiency is also associated with diseases like multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. All these health issues have a common symptom – joint pain get vitamin d deficiency test. Your body needs vitamin D for energy. If you are constantly tired without any known reason, get your vitamin D level checked. Low vitamin D leads to fat accumulation. This in turn lowers your metabolism rate and makes you less energetic. A 2014 study published in the North American Journal of Medical Sciences suggests that by correcting your low vitamin D, you can significantly reduce the severity of fatigue symptoms. A deficiency of the sunshine vitamin can also lead to sudden mood swings. Vitamin D aids production of serotonin, the brain hormone associated with mood elevation and happiness. Increased serotonin can also help lessen the impact of stress and prevent or treat mild depression. Deficiency of vitamin D may also relate to other affective disorders, such as seasonal affective disorder (SAD), premenstrual syndrome and fibromyalgia. Studies have found that some people suffer from mild depression during the winter months, known as SAD, mainly due to lack of sun exposure. Vitamin D deficiency can also contribute to psoriasis, an autoimmune skin disorder. According to the National Psoriasis Foundation, appropriate sun exposure helps slow down the rate of growth and shedding of skin cells. A 2013 study published in the Dermato-endocrinology journal suggests that autoimmunity has been associated with vitamin D deficiency and resistance. This pilot study also concluded that high-dose vitamin D3 therapy might be effective and safe for vitiligo and psoriasis patients. If you are diagnosed with psoriasis, get your vitamin D levels checked and ask your doctor about taking a daily dose of fermented cod liver oil. http://utahtexans.com/ Click on the link above for a free report and video guide to shopping for dietary supplements! Today I'm going to be answering the question how much vitamin D should I take, as well why you really should care. Some health professionals believe that as much as 50-75% of the U.S. population is deficient in vitamin D or what some people call the sunshine vitamin. Worldwide perhaps a billion people. So who cares right? Well a deficiency has been linked to all kinds of health problems. This includes heart problems, weak bones, cancer as well as making it easier for a virus to make a home in your body. Traditionally many people got this vitamin through the sun, but do you see a problem with this? Yea, thanks to living in a modern society more people work indoors, drive cars and watch TV. To make matters even worse it's not easy to get through food. This is why a supplement can really be a great choice. Overdosing on vitamin D can occur, but it's really rare. Someone would have to take several thousand international units or IU for several months in a row to overdose. This is much higher than any supplement would recommend. The symptoms of an overdose could include nausea, headaches, frequent urination and the most serious condition would be kidney problems. When it comes to the ideal dose of vitamin D not everyone agrees, and the debate is still going on. The National Institutes of Health feel that adults should receive 200 IU daily. If someone is between 50 to 70 years of age then the dosage should be increased to 400 IU daily. Lastly if a person makes it to 70 years of age then they should get 600 IU every day. Some people feel this dosage should be increased like the famous American TV Dr. called Dr. OZ. He feels that adults should take 1,000 IU every day. Another very influential doctor called Dr. Weil recommends 2,000 IU every single day. Also the vitamin D Council recommends that healthy adults take 2,000 IU of vitamin D daily as well as Boston University Medical Center. Considering you need at least 5,000 IU of vitamin D to somewhat have a chance of an overdose taking 1,000 or 2,000 IU shouldn't pose a problem for many people. Next comes finding a good supplement to get this vitamin D. Contrary to what you may believe not all vitamins and supplements are the same. More bad news is that it's easy for companies to make crappy products that can actually harm people. To make shopping for dietary supplements simpler and easier I have created a video guide on the topic. This guide goes over 10 warning signs of a risky product, what to take for certain medical problems, herbal remedies and even some crazy alternative health ideas that actually work. Oh, and before I forget this guide is completely free so you don't have any good reason not to at least learn more about it. Dr. Most of the world's population, even in developed countries, has inadequate intake of one or more of the ~30 essential vitamins and minerals, mostly used as cofactors by the proteins/ enzymes of metabolism. A varied and balanced diet should provide enough vitamins and minerals; an unbalanced diet with too much refined food provides calories, but not enough vitamins and minerals. Triage theory posits that, as a result of recurrent shortages of vitamins and minerals during evolution, natural selection developed a strategic rationing response to moderate shortages so that the scarce vitamins and minerals are preferentially retained by vitamin and mineral dependent proteins that are essential for short-term survival and reproduction. In contrast, proteins needed for long-term health, which defend against the diseases associated with aging, are starved for the vitamins and minerals and thus are disabled. Moreover, since the damage from moderate deficiency is insidious, its importance for long-term health is not clinically apparent. Strong support for triage theory comes from the analyses of published data on proteins dependent on vitamin K and on selenium. Both of these vitamins and minerals have built into metabolism a triage-like trade- off between short-term survival and long-term health; each uses a different mechanism to accomplish this end. Mechanistic, genetic, and epidemiological evidence suggests that this metabolic trade-off accelerates aging-associated diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune dysfunction, and cognitive decline. ► Signs Of Vitamin B12 Deficiency That Should Never Be Ignored As we grow older, our body’s ability to absorb vitamin B12 slows down. Vitamin B12 is responsible for helping make the red blood cells and DNA. Since the human body is incapable of making vitamin B12, it’s essential that we get it from supplements or animal-based foods. But some people do not take this vitamin seriously. Because of this, they end up suffering from vitamin B12 deficiency. According to statistics, about 40% of North Americans suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency. Also, those who suffer from chronic fatigue syndrome or fibromyalgia also suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency. If you are suffering from vitamin B12 deficiency, you will experience the following signs. You Can’t Stay Awake: One of the biggest telltale signs of vitamin B12 deficiency is fatigue. This is not normal fatigue though. If you constantly get at least eight hours of sleep and are still tired, you might be suffering from vitamin B12 deficiency. The human body relies on this vitamin to produce red blood cells. The more red blood cells that are created, the more oxygen is carried through the body. One thing to remember is that fatigue is only one symptom, so don’t assume you’re vitamin B12 deficient. You’re Muscles Are Weak: To keep your muscles strong, they need oxygen. The red blood cells that deploy oxygen to the muscles rely on vitamin B12. So if you are vitamin B12 deficient, your muscles will feel weak. Memory Loss: This sign is often mistaken for Alzheimer’s and dementia. But vitamin B12 deficiency can also be to blame. As I have mentioned already, vitamin B12 helps create red blood cells. If there are not a sufficient amount of red blood cells, your brain won’t receive much oxygen. If your brain isn’t receiving enough oxygen, it will not properly function the way you’re used to. This could lead to foggy memory. Pale Skin: If you notice that your complexion looks yellowish, you may be vitamin B12 deficient. It’s when the red blood cells are broken that causes the release of bilirubin. This gives the skin a yellowish color. You may also be suffering from Jaundice, so speak with your doctor if you experience this. Red, Smooth Tongue: The little bumps that are present on your tongue are called papillae. People who suffer from B12 deficiency lose the papillae on their tongue. Research has also indicated that people complain of pain on the back of the tongue. Most of the papillae on the tongue contain taste buds. If you lose most of it, your food will not taste good. Eye Issues: In severe cases, vitamin B12 deficiency can damage the optic nerve. It can also plug up the blood vessels directly in the retina. This can cause double vision, blurry vision, and even vision loss. If you begin to see a decline in your vision, do not self-diagnose, go see your doctor. ★ Please leave a like if you enjoyed and tell me what you think in the comments! ★ Don't forget to subscribe my channel to help us reach to 100.000 Subscribers : https://goo.gl/29sHF2 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ★ VIEW MORE: ➞ Tips & Tricks: https://goo.gl/UdhRLs ➞ Natural Remedies: https://goo.gl/djrthu ➞ Diet & Weight Loss: https://goo.gl/7sEJCX ➞ Beauty Tips: https://goo.gl/E3nsCd ➞ Healthy Drinks: https://goo.gl/BSGh2E --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ★ Like our facebook page: https://goo.gl/tVNSqu --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ★ Videos can use content-based copyright law contains reasonable use Fair Use (https://www.youtube.com/yt/copyright/)

Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin that cannot be synthesized in the human body. A vitamin B12 deficiency is thought to be one of the main nutrient deficiencies in the world, with a 2004 study concluding that it’s a health concern in numerous parts of the world, such as - India, the United States, Central America, Mexico, South America as well as in some countries in Africa. Recent studies from the U.S. Framingham established that 1 in 4 American adults are deficient in vitamin B12, and nearly fifty percent of the population has suboptimal blood levels. How Much Vitamin B12 Do You Need? According to the National Institutes of Health, the daily recommendation for vitamin B12 supplementation are: 2.8 micrograms for breastfeeding women; 2.6 micrograms for pregnant women; 2.4 micrograms for people age 14 and older. Vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anemia can cause numerous symptoms. These commonly develop gradually but can worsen if the condition goes untreated and lasts too long. Signs and symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency include: #1 Vision changes and even visual problems. #2 Fatigue, lack of energy, or light-headedness when standing up or with exertion. #3 Numbness and tingling in the hands and feet. #4 Vitamin B12 deficiency manifests in the digestive tract as inflammation of the tongue, or glossitis, with or without jaundice. #5 Hallucinations, personality and mood changes. #6 Yellowish tinge to the skin and eyes. #7 Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause cognitive loss, poor memory, depression, and dementia. #8 Breathlessness even after little physical exercise. #9 Some people diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease have been found to have abnormally low vitamin B12 levels in their blood. #10 A reduced appetite. #11 An enlarged spleen and liver (hepatosplenomegaly). Note It's important for vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anemia to be diagnosed and treated as soon as possible because, although many of the symptoms improve with treatment, some problems caused by the condition can be irreversible. Treatment usually includes: Vitamin B12 supplements, in pill form or as a nasal spray. Shots of vitamin B12. Treatment of underlying conditions, such as celiac disease, Crohn's disease, or alcoholism. You may know about the pluses of taking iron, calcium, and vitamin D supplements. But what about Vitamin B12? Do you need more of it? The vitamin has been in the news recently after celebrities like Justin Timberlake, and Madonna reportedly got B12 injections. Allure reports that it's a "water-soluble micronutrient that's found naturally in many animal foods." B12 helps produce red blood cells and impacts cell metabolism and DNA synthesis. Because humans don't produce it on their own, it's a common vitamin deficiency, affecting 15% percent of the population. Deficiencies are common amongst those with lupus and celiac disease, as well as vegans and vegetarians. To find out if you're getting enough B12, check with your doctor. https://www.allure.com/story/vitamin-b12-benefits-supplements http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

Find out how to get your daily dose of essential "D's". Related Videos: How to Lower Sugar in Your Diet | HealthiNation http://youtu.be/1LA4ENMSwmE Calcium Rich Diets | HealthiNation http://youtu.be/AaUsAm5kZvw Vitamin D is an essential nutrient. But did you know that an estimated one billion people around the world do not have enough of it in their bodies? This includes two-thirds of the American population. It may surprise you to learn that vitamin D is actually a hormone. This hormone circulates in the blood and supports the whole body, including helping with calcium and phosphorus absorption. It plays an important role in building bones. A deficiency of vitamin D in adults can lead to thin, brittle bones—a condition called osteoporosis. Vitamin D has been in the news a lot lately. That is because we have learned that its effects extend far beyond bones. Tissues throughout the body respond to it. Vitamin D is a powerful anti-inflammatory, so it is thought to play an important role in immune health. Research has suggested that vitamin D deficiency may increase the risk of developing heart disease and certain cancers, especially colon cancer. Although many people with vitamin D deficiency have no symptoms, some may develop muscle aches, bone pain, chronic pain, fatigue syndromes, and even depression. How do you know if your vitamin D levels are healthy? Ask your doctor to order a blood test to check. A level between 20 and 30 nanograms-per-milliliter indicates a vitamin D "insufficiency," while less than 20 indicates a "deficiency." Need more vitamin D? Here is how you can get it: Vitamin D is found in certain foods, which will be discussed later, but that is not the only place you can find it. When our skin is exposed to the sun, our bodies produce it by using the suns rays. For this reason, vitamin D is often called the "sunshine vitamin". When sunlight hits our body, the UVB rays from the sun trigger a reaction in the skin that converts cholesterol into an inactive form of vitamin D. This form is transported to the liver and kidneys, where it is converted into an active vitamin D hormone. If all it takes is some time in the sun, why do most of us not have enough vitamin D?There are a lot reasons. Some people, such as those with darker skin tones, those who are overweight, and those who are older, cannot make enough Vitamin D from the sun.On top of that, we have been repeatedly urged to use sunscreen and cover up in the sun, which blocks harmful UV rays. Many of us do not go out in the sun at all. This is all good advice for preventing skin cancer and premature aging, but leaves us with less vitamin D. Sun dilemmas aside, there are only a couple of foods that naturally contain vitamin D. Fatty fish like salmon, trout, tuna and sardines are good natural choices. However, our biggest dietary sources include foods that are fortified with vitamin D, like milk and breakfast cereals. Now that we know where to find it, how much vitamin D should we be getting? Currently, the Institute of Medicine recommends that adults get from 200 to 600 I-U or international units of vitamin D a day. Yet, the latest research shows just how important vitamin D is, and that 200 to 600 units may not be enough. Many experts now agree that adults need at least 800 to 2,000 units a day. To put this in perspective, about 5 to 10 minutes in strong rays, with arms and legs exposed, makes about 3,000 units or more than enough units per day. Because sun exposure can be harmful, for many people, taking a supplement is the best way to get enough vitamin D. If your doctor or nutritionist determines you need a supplement, look for one that contains vitamin D3 instead of vitamin D2. D3 is three to four times as potent as D2. Yet beware, because you can take too much vitamin D and overdo a good thing. Talk to your doctor about how much you should take to get and keep your levels in the normal range. The bottom line: Be sure to get your daily dose of vitamin D—from the sun, from food or from a supplement. Vitamin D is absolutely essential to your health.

Interesting facts about vitamin D. Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that is essential for maintaining the mineral balance in the body. It’s most active form in humans. Vitamin D3 cholecalciferol can be synthesized in the skin upon exposure to ultraviolet-B radiation from sunlight. Here are some interesting facts about vitamin D which you probably never heard before. The rays of natural sunlight that produce vitamin D in your skin cannot penetrate glass. This means you cannot get vitamin D inside a car or at home. A person would have to drink ten tall glasses of vitamin D fortified milk each day just to get minimum levels of vitamin D into their diet. The further you live from the equator, the longer exposure you need to the sun in order to generate vitamin D. Canada, the UK and most U.S. states are far from the equator. Weak sunscreens such as SPF 8 can block Vitamin D by up to 95%. This can cause vitamin D deficiency problems and disease if used commonly. 40% of the U.S. population is vitamin D deficient. People who are tan require more time in the sun to get vitamin D, because the darker skin pigment blocks the effects of the sun. Vitamin D is activated in your body by your kidneys and liver before it can be used. Having kidney disease or liver damage can greatly impair your body's ability to activate circulating vitamin D. If it hurts to press firmly on your sternum, you may be suffering from chronic vitamin D deficiency right now. Vitamin D Can Cut the Risk of Breast Cancer. a recent study suggests spending some time in the sun each day can reduce your risk for breast cancer. Vitamin D May Reduce Risk of Multiple sclerosis. Studies in Scotland suggest there could be a link between the two and that Vitamin D could offer some neuro protective effects. Vitamin D Supports Verbal Communication. a recent report suggests pregnant women with low Vitamin D levels are two times as likely to have children with language difficulties. It’s important to remember that a developing baby relies entirely on the mother for vitamin D. This makes it doubly important for expectant mothers to get enough of the vitamin. Vitamin D Deficiency is linked to Autism. One study noted that autistic children do, in fact, have lower vitamin D levels than non-autistic children. Regardless, it certainly seems to show how important Vitamin D can be to brain health. Low Vitamin D is Linked to Premature Death. Research has found that individuals with low blood levels of vitamin D had a doubled risk of premature death compared to those with a higher level. Low Vitamin D Boosts Risk of Dementia and Alzheimer. A recent study even suggests low levels can boost a person’s risk for dementia and Alzheimer’s. As we age, our skin becomes less able to convert vitamin D from sunlight, Infants who receive vitamin D supplementation, 2000 units daily have an 80% reduced risk of developing type 1 diabetes over the next twenty years. Health Benefits Of Vitamin D3: Food Sources Of Vitamin D3 Subscribe To Our Channel here-https://goo.gl/g5dZYv The obvious place to start is the unfortunate fact that Vitamin D deficiency affects so many of us. A huge part of the population are deficient in essential vitamin D Modern lifestyles mean we just don’t get the level of Vitamin D from the sun that our bodies are designed to obtain. Dietary sources are minimal and a frightening proportion of society is Vitamin D deficiency. Figures vary in the media but are ever-increasing. This very online useful resource (click link to open) discusses Vitamin D in detail and talks about the implications of Vitamin D deficiency. It is well worth a read, and certainly eye-opening!

Most of the world’s population, even in developed countries, has inadequate intake of one or more of the 30 essential vitamins and minerals. An unbalanced diet with too much refined food provides calories, but not enough vitamins and minerals. Triage theory posits that, as a result of recurrent shortages of vitamins and minerals during evolution, natural selection developed a strategic rationing response to moderate shortages so that the scarce vitamins and minerals are preferentially retained by vitamin and mineral-dependent proteins that are essential for short-term survival and reproduction. In contrast, proteins needed for long-term health, which I term “longevity proteins” because they defend against the diseases associated with aging, are starved for the vitamins and minerals and thus are disabled. Moreover, since the damage from moderate deficiency is insidious, its importance for long-term health is not clinically apparent. Strong support for triage theory comes from our analyses of published data on proteins dependent on vitamin K and on selenium. Both of these have built into metabolism a triage-like trade-off between short-term survival and long-term health; each uses a different mechanism to accomplish this end. Mechanistic, genetic, and epidemiological evidence suggests that this metabolic trade-off accelerates aging-associated diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, immune dysfunction, and cognitive decline. Much of the U.S. population is currently well below the official U.S. Institute of Medicine Estimated Average Requirements for many important vitamins and minerals. This is especially true for children, adolescents, elders, and the obese. The U.S. population also has a very low intake of DHA/EPA omega-3 intake. About half of the proteins we have studied are longevity proteins. This implies the existence of an undiscovered class of longevity vitamins and minerals, which we are exploring and discovering. http://preventdisease.com/news/09/092909_vitamin_D.shtml More Reports on Higher Death Risk From Low Vitamin D Levels Low levels of vitamin D may increase the risk of dying from all causes by 150 per cent suggests a study with over 700 elderly women. Women with blood levels of the vitamin lower than 15.3 nanograms per millilitre were more likely to die from causes such as heart disease and cancer, than women with higher levels (above 27 ng/ml), according to findings published in Nutrition Research. “The present findings from this population-based cohort of ageing are consistent with the association between low serum 25(OH)D and mortality that has been described in […] the general population,” wrote the researchers, led by Richard Semba from the Johns Hopkins University. “In addition, a recent meta-analysis suggested that vitamin D supplementation was associated with decreased mortality,” they added. The researchers noted that several biologic mechanisms could explain a causal relationship between vitamin D deficiency and mortality, with the vitamin’s active form (1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D) linked to a range of effects including control of inflammatory compounds, regulating immune health and blood pressure, or reducing arterial hardening. “The role that vitamin D plays in different tissues may account for the associations between vitamin D deficiency and cardiovascular disease, cancer, and mortality,” they said. Making headlines The general population study used data from 13,331 men and women participating in the Third National Health and Nutritional Examination Survey (NHANES III). The results of the study grabbed headlines around the world when published last year in the Archives of Internal Medicine. The new study looked at vitamin D levels, in the form of 25- hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D), the non-active 'storage' form, in 714 community-dwelling women, aged between 70 and 79 years, participating in the Women's Health and Aging Studies I and II. The Johns Hopkins researchers worked in collaboration with scientists from Wake Forest University, National Institute on Aging, University of Pennsylvania, and Columbia University. Study details During 6 years of follow-up, 100 of the 714 women died with data showing that the main causes of death included cardiovascular disease (36 per cent., respiratory disease (18 per cent), cancer (15 per cent), and other causes (27 per cent), state the researchers. When the researchers divided women into four groups (quartiles) according to their 25(OH)D levels, the proportion of women who died in during those 6 years in each quartile (from lowest to highest) was 19, 13,15, and 8.1 per cent, said the researchers. Increasing blood levels of vitamin D were linked to increasing survival rates, with women with the lowest average 25(OH)D levels having “significantly worse survival” than women with the highest average levels of 25(OH)D. “Controlled clinical trials are needed to determine whether vitamin D supplementation will improve health outcomes such as cardiovascular disease and mortality in older adults who have insufficient levels of vitamin D,” concluded the researchers. D details Vitamin D refers to two biologically inactive precursors - D3, also known as cholecalciferol, and D2, also known as ergocalciferol. The former, produced in the skin on exposure to UVB radiation (290 to 320 n m), is said to be more bioactive. While our bodies do manufacture vitamin D on exposure to sunshine, the levels in some northern countries are so weak during the winter months that our body makes no vitamin D at all, meaning that dietary supplements and fortified foods are seen by many as the best way to boost intakes of vitamin D. In adults, it is said vitamin D deficiency may precipitate or exacerbate osteopenia, osteoporosis, muscle weakness, fractures, common cancers, autoimmune diseases, infectious diseases and cardiovascular diseases. There is also some evidence that the vitamin may reduce the incidence of several types of cancer and type-1 diabetes. Source: Nutrition Research

so-called black people do NOT need vitamin D supplements because their cells can synthesize this.....taking vitamin D supplements will kill you...vitamin D is made with the sunlight and our cells.....just as plants synthesize chlorophyll with sunlight and cells.....we synthesize vitamin D via sunlight....analogous to plants synthesizing chlorophyll via sunlight....now....imagine those plants that do not get any sunlight....they will be chlorophyll deficient....melinated beings who live in demographic environment not conducive to their melanocyte will be vitamin D deficient...chlorophyll is a condensed form of sunlight, and in the event that an African live on the earth were the sunlight is not 365 days a year, iii suggest trace "supplements" of chlorophyll added to the daily diet ... and that suggestion is free of charge #theylive been experimenting on "the blacks" looong b4 Tuskegee...BIOLOGICAL VARIATIONS OF THE AFRICAN & HUMANKIND 1/3 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTyW1aqzAak&list=PLegouMyS3y1aN1DbTSodKRFd3DihfN8FG&index=1

Its popularity goes to the size of clinics and health spas that offer discounts for vitamin B12 injections.Vitamin B12 is of utmost importance as it takes a vital role in many bodily functions. These include:- Good digestion.- Iron Absorption.- Fat and Carbohydrate Metabolism.- Nervous growth and training.- Healthy reproductive system in women.- Adrenal hormone secretion.- Circulation.- Formation of red blood cells.- Healthy nervous system.CAUSES OF DEFICIENCY OF VITAMIN B12.Vitamin B12 deficiency can be triggered by different factors, of which the following are the most common:- Antacids affect the assimilation of vitamin B12 because the body needs enough stomach acid to absorb it.- Nitrous oxide, also known as laughter gas, destroys vitamin B12 in the body- Drinking more than 4 cups of coffee a day leads to a 15 percent reduction in vitamin B12 levels.- Gastric bypass weight loss surgery changes digestive mechanisms, affecting the absorption of vitamin B12.- The H. pylori bacterium destroys the stomach cells that create the "intrinsic factor", which are necessary for the absorption of vitamin B12.SYMPTOMS OF DEFICIENCY OF VITAMIN B12.Optic Nerves / Vision Problems. In case you notice any changes in your vision, such as double or blurred vision, test your vitamin B12 levels, since deficiency in this vitamin often leads to vision problems.Anxiety.Since vitamin B12 stimulates the production of dopamine and serotonin, known as "happy" brain chemicals, anxiety is often a warning sign of low levels of vitamin B12.Changes in taste. The blows on the tongue are responsible for recognizing the taste of the food you eat. In case you notice changes in your taste and often get a 'blah' impression of food, it is very likely that you are deficient in vitamin B12.Yellow skin. When the body lacks vitamin B12, it loses its ability to produce strong cells. The degradation of red blood cells causes yellow skin and is a sure sign of vitamin B12 deficiency.Memory loss.Memory loss is often caused by vitamin B12 deficiency, especially in young people who are young to develop dementia.Inability to keep your eyes open. This is a result of lack of oxygen in the blood, which is caused directly by deficiency of the vitamin itself.Dizziness.Feeling dizzy is another sign of lack of oxygen in the blood.Numbness.Sensation of numbness and tingling is the result of nerve damage, which occurs due to vitamin B12 deficiency.RISK GROUPS READY TO B12 DEFICIENCY.- Vegans and vegetarians who do not eat animal products.- Diabetics on Metformin, since this drug affects the absorption of vitamin B12.- People 60 years or older who do not have enough stomach acid.- People diagnosed with autoimmune disorders, such as celiac or Crohn's disease.

SYMPTOMS OF VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY Vitamin B12 is one of the most essential nutrients for our health. The body can’t produce this vitamin on its own, which means that we have to intake it through a dietary source. According to statistics, 40% of Americans lack vitamin B12, and the problem is increasingly more common in people diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome and fibromyalgia. Have you recently experienced mood changes, lack of motivation, brain fog or fatigue? If you have, you are probably lacking vitamin B12. Here are some symptoms of vitamin B12 deficiency: Numbness and tingling in the limbs; Loss of balance; Anemia; Inflamed tongue; Jaundice; Paranoia and hallucinations. Besides these common symptoms, vitamin B12 deficiency may cause brain fog, depression and neuropathy. There are simple tests you can take at your doctor which can determine if you’re suffering from the problem. However, vitamin B12 serum deficient is not an efficient marker as the effect of the vitamin occurs within the cells. We suggest consulting your doctor and getting an Intracellular vitamin B12 test. If the hospital in your area doesn’t offer this test, you should test your homocysteine and methylmalonic acid levels which are more accurate indirect vitamin B12 measures. Meat contains the most bioavailable form of vitamin B12, while vegetarian sources of the vitamin are rare. CAUSES OF VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY Lack of vitamin B12 can be caused by the following factors: PERNICIOUS ANEMIA Pernicious anemia is a type of disease in which the body lacks red blood cells due to anemia. The common symptoms of this condition are fatigue, smooth red tongue, poor reflexes, confusion and depression. If left untreated, some of these problems can become permanent and cause bigger problems. LEAKY GUT SYNDROME Leaky gut syndrome (intestinal hyperpermeability) is usually caused by gluten sensitivity, dairy sensitivity, parasitic or bacterial infections. The condition occurs when protein from the food we eat breaks the intestinal wall and leaks into the gut, resulting in toxins and other harmful molecule to enter the bloodstream and activate the cells of our immune system. This also affects the body’s ability to properly absorb vitamin B12. If you’re suspecting that you’re suffering from leaky gut syndrome, you should get tested at a doctor. The solution for the problem is as easy as cutting out grain, dairy products, sugar and processed food from your diet. POOR GUT MICROBIOME There are beneficial bacteria in our intestines which help us break down food and absorb important nutrients into the bloodstream. However, if there’s insufficient levels of beneficial bacteria in your gut, it can result in improper absorption of vitamin B12 and other nutrients. The microbiome population is determined by the amount of probiotics and sugar you consume – if the levels of beneficial bacteria in your gut are low, you need to cut out sugar from your diet and start eating a healthier diet. STOMACH ACID MEDICATIONS Heartburn is one of the most common symptom of gluten sensitivity and other digestive problems. People usually treat this problem with prescription medications which reduce the levels of stomach acid as well as the intrinsic factor levels. However, this can also affect the levels of vitamin B12 in your body, so it’s best to treat the problem naturally. CHEMOTHERAPY One of the most common side-effects of chemotherapy is vitamin B12 deficiency. The harmful chemotherapy drugs can irritate the stomach lining and harm the intestinal cells, causing big problems in your body. In order to fight the side-effects of these drugs, cancer patients on chemotherapy are advised to take vitamin B12 and folic acid supplements. The health benefits of a plant-based diet is well-known, but the question remains: Could vegans be at risk for deficiency of essential nutrients? A retrospective review by Mayo Clinic physicians recently published in the Journal of the American Osteopathic Association indicated that vegans should ensure adequate intake of a few nutrients. According to a 2012 Gallup poll, two percent of the U.S. population follows a vegan diet, which is a strict plant-based diet that excludes all animal-derived foods. Increasingly, people are choosing to follow this diet for ethical, environmental, religious and health concerns. With the growing popularity of plant-based diets, the Mayo Clinic team compiled a review of recent literature to monitor and advise vegans to ensure proper nutritional intake. Nutrients of concern are vitamin B-12, iron, calcium, vitamin D, protein and omega-3 fatty acids. “We found that some of these nutrients, which can have implications in neurologic disorders, anemia, bone strength and other health concerns, can be deficient in poorly planned vegan diets,” says Heather Fields, M.D., Community and Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. Contrary to popular belief, "Vegans have not been shown to be deficient in protein intake or in any specific amino acids." The study points out that some vegans rely heavily on processed foods and may not eat a sufficient variety of fruits, vegetables and whole grains. A whole food, plant-based diet is commendable, and a well-planned vegan diet can be adequate to achieve proper nutrition, but requires some education. The Mayo Clinic review team recommends that health care providers monitor vegan patients for adequate blood levels of vitamin B-12, iron’, ferritin, calcium and vitamin D.
