6 month update: Eating One Meal A Day (OMAD) Intermittent Fasting myths; Did I lose muscle?

09:44
This is a video about how I lost 30 pounds in 60 days and kept it off for 4 months doing Intermittent Fasting (IF) and eating One Meal A Day (OMAD) combined with a healthy diet and intense excercise. I get tons of questions from people who think they will lose muscle or get weaker doing Intermittent Fasting or eating only one meal a day. There are a lot of myths that fasting will put your body into "starvation mode" and you will lose all your muscle. In this video I wanted to explain how IF and OMAD helps your body lose fat. I explain why IF and OMAD doesnt make you weaker and doesnt cause your body to lose muscle. I wanted to post some footage of me doing some yoga poses that require tons of strength to prove that IF or OMAD doesnt make you weaker. I posted a video in September 2017 about my 60 day journey with Intermittent Fasting and eating One Meal A Day (OMAD). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHDG2665sIQ&t=1s I got tons of messages asking me what I eat so I posted a 2nd video in October to help people understand how much food is required in order to eat only meal a day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JbHmmeImLvs&t=401s Most people think that the reason why I lost weight is due to lowering my calorie intake but that is far from the truth. The reason why I have lost so much weight is because I fast for 23 hours a day. When you fast, your insulin glucose drops and your body will burn its stored fat as energy. I eat my one and only meal every day at 2pm. 5 of those days are at my restaurant, Monarch 9 Café in Yorba Linda, CA where I eat the same thing; a bowl of filet mignon pho (with cabbage instead of noodles), a salad with either grilled lemon grass pork, shaken beef or steamed ginger chicken. I also always have a bowl of oatmeal (with almond milk) and fruits and 1 cup of nuts. I used to take tons of supplements (protein powder, glucosamine, chondroitin, creatine, glutamine, zink, magnesium, fish oil, etc) I no longer take and supplements. I now get all my nutrients in my food. I get all my carbs from vegetables, my protein from my meats and my fats from nuts. I started Intermittent Fasting on July 15, 2017 at 176 pounds. I had a goal to get and STAY under 160 pounds. I have tried every diet out there and always lost weight initially but I was never able to sustain my weight. I was expecting it would take me 2-3 months to get under 160 pounds but I was actually able to get to 159 pounds on the 30th day. For those that know me, when I do something I dont do it half assed, I always go all in, so after hitting my goal weight in 30 days I decided to push myself even harder and start eating only One Meal A Day (OMAD). I have been on OMAD for 6 months now and I feel amazing. I am steady between 146-148 pounds, I was trying to get above 150 pounds but now I am comfortable at this weight. I have found out that while fasting my body will produce more HGH (Human Growth Hormone). The longer the periods of fasting, the more HGH is produced. This made sense since I had way more energy and felt way stronger when I was only eating One Meal A Day. I hope this video helps you out in any way. If you are struggling with trying to lose fat I highly recommend you try Intermittent Fasting. There are tons of great videos out there, below are some channels where I found the most helpful information when I started Intermittent Fasting. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3w1... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8RP... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyxv... https://www.dietdoctor.com/intermitte... I eat the same meal almost every single day. Its healthy and loaded with nutrients. Especially, those who lift heavy may need to focus on such foods to keep their growth in the right momentum. In order to maximise your muscle gain and make the best of your workouts, you have to keep an eye on your Human Growth Hormone levels too. And of course, sleep is very essential to help boost Human Growth Hormone levels in your body. Don't forget to sleep well and also include these foods in your diet. 1. If you ignore vegetables, your growth could be incomplete. 3. Fish Fish like salmon supply vitamin D. Many studies claim that vitamin D deficiency could affect men as it lowers certain hormones. 4. Coconut Oil Consuming coconut oil could also help as it is said to boost the production of human growth hormone. You can add a few drops of this oil to milk shake. 5. Fava Beans Add fava beans to your diet as they too help you build muscle. Certain compounds present in them boost your growth faster. These beans boost dopamine, human growth hormone and even testosterone levels. 6. Pineapple It boosts serotonin which is a feel good hormone. Eating it before sleep could enhance sleep quality which can indirectly help the release of growth hormone. 7. Yoghurt Some studies claim that even yoghurt can boost the levels of growth hormone. This hormone is involved in cell growth, reproduction and regeneration. It helps retain calcium, it's anti-aging, effects cognitive function and is connected to fat burning. It's triggered by: intermittent fasting, hypoglycemia, arginine, vitamin B3 and intense exercise. Growth hormone is inhibited by insomnia, sugar (insulin), stress (cortisol) and endocrine disruptors. 9 Foods you should NEVER EAT if you want a SIX PACK | 6 PACK Diet to lose weight how to get abs fast

07:51
TRICKY foods you should never eat again if you want a six pack or to lose weight. If you're wondering how to get abs fast this 6 pack diet will show you what foods to avoid to burn belly fat quickly. 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitytransformation.com Fat Loss Calculator: http://gravitytransformation.com/macro-calculator/ I've been working out 7 days a week twice a day everyday and I just can't figure out why I'm not losing weight. Like I do everything right, I lift heavy weights, I do tons of cardio, i eat 6 small meals a day, I don't eat past 6 at night, and I still can't see my abs. I can't figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong... What's up guys my names Max and in today's video I want to go over the 9 foods you should never eat again if you want a six pack and if you want to lose weight. Since you've probably already realized that ice cream is one of them let's start with ice cream first. First of all ice cream is super high in sugar which can lead to weight gain, increased levels of blood triglycerides and diabetes. When you have a high spike in blood sugar which ice cream will definitely cause you to have your body reacts by releasing a lot of insulin. When insulin levels are high in your body it's literally impossible for you to burn fat and it's very easy for you to gain weight. Couple this with the fact that most ice creams will have at least 300 calories in just one cup and you'll easily see how ice cream is one of the worst foods to eat when trying to burn fat. Another food thats terrible for you if you want to see your abs and its also just as bad for your health...and that food is popcorn. Almost all microwave popcorn varieties come in a bag that is lined with perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). This chemical is the same toxic stuff found in teflon pots and pans. And This chemical when heated has been linked to infertility, cancer and other diseases in lab animals. There are also gmos, artificial flavors, msg, and I don't know if you guys know this but regular corn farming requires a lot of pesticides. On top of all of that trans fats are still used by most popcorn brands even though trans fats have pretty much disappeared everywhere else since they're so strongly linked to heart attacks. And finally last but not least certain studies are starting to show that it might be a bad idea to Nuke any of your food not just microwavable popcorn. So yeah popcorn maybe the single worst food you can have for fat loss and for your health. Moving on.. we have Oreos and in general any type of cookies that you buy in a package like Chips Ahoy, keebler fudge cookies I think they're called. Now why are these so bad? Well all of the same things that applied to ice cream apply here as well. You will get an insulin Spike and it'll be impossible to burn fat until your insulin levels go back down. But something that makes this such a dangerous food to eat if you're trying to burn fat is the enormous calorie content. In just 6 Oreos we're looking at 270 calories and I bet that almost nobody eats just 6 Oreos. Oreos are addicting as soon as you eat one you know you're going to eat 20. If you eat a row which is typically how much people eat you're looking at 675 calories. Good luck burning that off. Oreos are super high in sugar fat and calories. That is definitely something you want to avoid while cutting body fat. Next we have soft drinks. Let me show you guys something this right here is peach flavored Snapple. And in one cup there are 200 calories and close to 48 grams of sugar or 12 teaspoons. You only really should be allowed a maximum of 6 to 9 teaspoons of sugar a day. You already went over with just one of these drinks. Now it's not only Snapple and I know that you guys already know that Pepsi coca cola Mountain Dew Hawaiian Punch brisk sprite and all that other canned soda.... I already know that you know that that's bad for you.... especially when you're trying to burn fat. But you might have not known that the orange juice and apple juice and in fact most juices that you see at the store are absolutely horrible for you. Apple juice has 24 grams of sugar in a cup. Granted that's half the amount that you're going to get from a cup of Snapple but thats still going to cause a major halt for your fat loss. Up next we have chips. Luckily lately there have been some Brands releasing chips that are actually not that bad for you. Unfortunately most of them still are pretty bad for you. Almost all chips are super high in salt, sugar, and fat. Also because they're cooked at such high temperatures it could cause the formation of carcinogens. Don't be fooled by the kettle cooked chips and the "natural"chips because .....it's the same shit. The one brand of chips that I've seen that I like are utz sweet potato chips. They just have peanut oil sweet potatoes and salt listed as the ingredients.

How To Naturally Increase HGH For Faster Fat Loss & Muscle Gain

08:29
Become fitter, faster, and stronger now: http://go2.sixpackshortcuts.com/SH2Dj -- Hey guys, It's Jonny from Six Pack Shortcuts here again. Today, I'm gonna talk to you about naturally increasing one of your body's most important anabolic hormones, Human Growth Hormone or HGH. This is a naturally occurring hormone in your body and some people supplement with creams and injections, but that's not what we're here for today. HGH is believed to be one of the key things to change your physique and it's also been proven to be essential in muscle tissue growth, muscle repair, providing deeper, better sleep, stronger bones, and growth of other tissues. A lot of things have been linked to HGH and it's also been called the fountain of youth. So why is that important? We all wanna stay healthy, young, grow muscle, have strong bones, etc. So HGH continues to support us throughout our lives but as we age, just like anything unfortunately, those levels begin to decrease and taper off - so that's why I'm here to give you my five tips on how to naturally and safely boost those levels and help to hopefully combat some of that decrease as we age. 1:26 - Tip #5 - Start weight training or resistance training if you don't already. Strength training has a ton of benefits but the main benefit is increasing your muscle strength, size, tendon & ligaments, etc. All of these things are encompassed in the benefit of working out. Doing these things also increases your natural production of HGH! 2:09 - Tip #4 - Start doing high intensity interval training (or HIIT). This form of workout consists of exerting short bursts of energy - like very short, 15-30, maybe 45 second intervals, where you're pretty much going all out between 75 and 100% of your physical exertion. So you're going all out, and then you take short rest breaks before going into the next round. During the rests, your body is secreting the natural growth hormone. Building that over time, and then considering the following 24 hours after you do HIIT, your metabolism is increased, you stay anabolic. 3:27 - Tip #3 For boosting your natural HGH levels is to eat smaller, spaced out meals. We do this because you keep your blood sugar and blood insulin levels as constant as possible. It also helps in leveling off your natural HGH production. Avoid having high sugar in these meals, because that will inhibit the HGH production. Keep the portions consistent and watch your glycemic index of the carbs you choose to eat. Smaller, balanced meal portions will keep you full, satisfied and your blood sugar levels regulated - the ideal condition for building lean muscle mass. Make sure your portioned meals include lower-glycemic carbs to enforce stable blood sugar levels because high blood sugar inhibits HGH release and greatly promotes fat storage 5:19 - Tip #2 When we consume sugar, our body releases a spike of insulin: High insulin equals low HGH Stay away from consuming high-glycemic foods, especially two hours before nightly sleep. The resulting insulin spike will slow and even STOP your body’s natural release of elevated HGH levels - leading to added fat tissue and slowed muscle recovery. 6:07 - Tip #1 - Get enough sleep! Sleep is critical in getting great results because your body releases the most growth hormone at night. (This is also when the body repairs itself and builds muscle.) If you skimp on the sleep, however, you’ll shortchange the amount of GH your body produces, which limits your muscle growth. In young adults, a lack of sleep can even stunt growth. Make sure to sleep at least 8 hours every night. Also, the earlier, the better. Start applying these simple lifestyle changes TODAY, it is not too late to boost your natural HGH levels and begin reaping the benefits from the hormone that can is in control of making so many positive changes in your body. Doctor Mike On Diets: Intermittent Fasting | Diet Review

Hey guys! I've seen over and over questions and comments regarding dieting so I decided to start a series where I conduct a diet review in detail. I know many of you want to lose weight and there are many videos on weight loss out there. But I want to give you an honest doctor's take on fasting or time restricted eating. I kicked off the series with the very popular, intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating. It's claim to fame is that helps burn belly fat/ lose your belly and it does so through fast weight loss. But is fast weight loss even healthy? Anyway, I could go into more detail covering the smallest intricacies of the diet but I did not want to weigh down the video, both literally and figuratively. Please let me know if this is too little, too much, or just the right amount of information about intermittent fasting. Also, I want you to remember that diets are not all about weight loss but more importantly about eating healthy. I sincerely hope you enjoy, and definitely let me know if you want more videos like this by giving it a like and a share. What To Eat To Gain Muscle, Burn Fat and Build Lean Muscle Mass [Full HD]

04:31
Here The Link: http://HowToGainMuscleForMen.com/Build-Muscle-GUARANTEED We all know that the better we organize our eating habits to gain muscle and burn fat, the more amazing the results we achieve will be, both in the short and the long run. These include eating the right foods, in the right amount, and at the correct time. But... is it possible to add muscle mass without following a strict diet or counting each ounce of food you eat? Our modern lifestyles sometimes make it very difficult to stick to a diet. Due to our work schedules and other daily activities, many of us find it very hard to follow strict diets, and some may even convince themselves that building muscle is not for them. But here I come, to bring you this video with the best, highly practical and simple tips that will make your muscles grow once and for all in a way that is in sync with your busy lifestyle. 3 Goals to Go After Your diet must meet these 3 objectives: 1) Provide your body with the nutrients it needs in order to recover and grow. This may seem obvious, but it is VERY IMPORTANT. If your body can´t find enough proteins, fat, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals to sustain itself, it can hardly be expected to build massive muscles. 2) Boost your natural anabolic hormone levels. Testosterone is THE main anabolic hormone, but growth hormones also help forge muscle. If your anabolic hormone level is low throughout the day, you will build very little muscle. This is why the food you eat must raise the levels of these hormones. 3) Decrease catabolic hormone levels Cortisol is the queen of catabolic hormones. These hormones are responsible for turning muscle into energy (decreasing them while at it) and accumulating body fat. Your diet must avoid reaching high levels of these hormones, because otherwise, all your efforts will be in vain. Now, 9 simple tips to put these 3 objectives into practice: 1- Add the following foods to your diet in order to gain muscle and burn fat: fish, whole eggs, egg whites, oats, potatoes (not fried), yogurt, walnuts, almonds, peanuts, broccoli, olive oil and green tea. 2- Breakfast abundantly, as it is one of the 2 most important meals of the day. Make sure to include a good amount of proteins, as well as fat (animal and vegetable) and complex carbohydrates. 3- Your second most important meal of the day is the one you have 15-30 minutes after working out. At this moment, your body is in a critical state known for its high catabolic hormone level; which means you must consume simple carbohydrates (I strongly recommend honey) along with proteins (such as whey protein, one of the only supplements that actually work, or boiled egg whites). 4- Make sure that you consume both vegetable and animal fats throughout the day. Doing this increases testosterone levels noticeably, helps build muscle, and reduces body fat. 5- Some foods with healthy vegetable fat you should eat are walnuts, peanuts, olive oil, and avocados. 6- Have foods with healthy animal fats: whole eggs, chicken breast, fish, and lean red meat. 7- Eat every 3 hours, having 6 meals a days is the best-case scenario. 8- If you are not able to cook very elaborate meals, such as if you must lunch at work, prepare a shake and carry it in a bottle. Include fresh fruit, oats, dried fruits and yogurt. Another great snack to take along with you are egg, tuna or chicken breast sandwiches on whole wheat bread. 9- Introduce these changes to your diet gradually: don't try to change it all from one day to next. To achieve a super effective, muscle-building diet, make small changes every day until you successfully incorporate better eating habits. I hope this video has been helpful. The Essential Guide To Macros For Intermittent Fasting: Using I.F. For Weight Loss & Muscle Gains

07:34
Lose Weight For The Six Pack Abs You Deserve: http://go.sixpackabs.com/scienc4a2 Subscribe to Tom's Channel - http://www.YouTube.com/TheTDeLauer Macros for Intermittent Fasting I.F. Benefits Overview: HGH - Studies show that the blood levels of growth hormone may increase as much as 5-fold when intermittent fasting as opposed to a regular diet. Higher levels of this hormone facilitate fat burning and muscle gain and help your stomach shrink. Many of those who try intermittent fasting are doing it in order to lose weight. Generally speaking, intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, which results in you consuming fewer calories. Energy - I.F. results in lower insulin levels, higher growth hormone levels and increased amounts of norepinephrine (noradrenaline), all of which increase the breakdown of body fat and facilitate its use for energy. Leptin - Low leptin leads to an increase in hunger and a decrease in metabolic rate, much like high leptin leads to a decrease in hunger and an increase in metabolic rate. People can lose leptin sensitivity, ignore signals, and begin to overeat. Leptin levels also drop during short term fasting and return to normal after eating – good way to retain leptin sensitivity. http://authoritynutrition.com/10-health-benefits-of-intermittent-fasting/ How Many Meals Per Day? There is no set amount of meals you “should” be eating. Many different ways to intermittent fast, the following is the most common and most convenient. Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting It doesn’t instruct you on which or how much food(s) to eat, but rather when you should eat them - sticking to a concept of 2 meals per day. The 16/8 Method involves fasting every day for around 16 hours, and restricting your daily “eating window” to around 8 hours. Within the eating window, you can fit in 2 meals. Doing this method of fasting can actually be as simple as not eating anything after dinner, and skipping breakfast. For example, if you finish your last meal at 8 pm and then don’t eat until 12 noon the next day, then you are technically fasting for 16 hours between meals. You can drink water, coffee and other non-caloric beverages during the fast, and this can help reduce hunger levels. When fasting blood levels of insulin drop significantly, which facilitates fat burning – you should avoid breaking fast with a high carb meal, as it will cause an insulin spike, harming the fat burning process. https://authoritynutrition.com/what-is-intermittent-fasting/ Main Benefit – Less Caloric Intake. Your stomach is like a muscle. When it's filled with large meals three times a day, the distensibility (the amount your stomach walls can stretch) increases. When you head in the other direction - eating many small meals throughout the day - your stomach's capacity goes down. By eating smaller meals more frequently, you'll naturally feel full with less food, and your body will send signals to stop eating sooner. Intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, resulting in your stomach shrinking and less caloric intake. Additionally, this causes an increase in your metabolic rate by 3.6-14%, helping you burn even more calories. In other words, it boosts your metabolic rate (increases calories out) and reduces the amount of food you eat (reduces calories in). Foods to Break Your Fast With - The protective mucus lining of the stomach may be temporarily diminished after a fast, making the stomach walls more vulnerable to irritation until it returns to normal - Make note of coffee and acidity during the fast. http://greatist.com/grow/stomach-size-eating-habits Gentle reintroduction of foods, beginning with the simplest and easiest-to-digest foods, supports this process. Foods known to be irritating to the system, such as coffee and spicy foods, must be avoided during the breaking process. The most nutritious and easy-to-digest foods should be used to break a fast: fruit and vegetable juices, raw fruits (berries, but avoid fruits with heavy skins/pectin), vegetable or bone broths, yogurt, cooked/uncooked vegetables, and eggs. http://www.allaboutfasting.com/breaking-a-fast.html Fructose may only be good if you’re going to workout after breaking your fast. Intermittent Fasting Science (BEST Fat Loss Diet?) Healthy Good or Bad for Weight Loss & Muscle Gain

05:22
Is intermittent fasting the best fat loss diet to lose weight and gain muscle? Find out what the RESEARCH & STUDIES say about whether it's healthy, good, or bad for you. This a great guide for beginners interest in trying IF for weight loss and muscle gain. 🔥 FREE 6 Week Challenge: https://gravitytransformation.com Fat Loss Calculator: http://gravitytransformation.com/macro-calculator/ Intermittent fasting is one of the most popular diets today. It is followed by athletes, CEO’s and Youtube fitness celebrities alike. But is it really as effective as its proponents say it is, or is it just another overhyped diet? To find out, we have to take a look at the science behind intermittent fasting. First, what exactly is intermittent fasting? Intermittent fasting is a diet that is based around restricting your eating time instead of restricting your food intake. Therefore, it isn’t really a diet at all, but more of an eating pattern. The most popular method of intermittent fasting is called the 16:8 method. It includes skipping breakfast and eating lunch and dinner. For example, if you eat lunch at 1PM and dinner at 7PM, you have created an 18-hour fasting window between the two meals. Other methods include the 5:2 method, which recommends fasting for two days a week, and the eat-stop-eat diet, which calls for one to two fasting days per week, where you stop eating from one meal until the same meal next day. For example, you would eat lunch on Friday and then fast until lunch on Saturday. This gives you the benefits of a 24-hour fast while still being able to eat every day. The commonly heard advantages of this type of diet include that it is easier to lose fat with it, that you can retain muscle easier and that it is easier to stick with compared to other, more commonly used diets. While there are also a host of other benefits, like cancer prevention and cancer treatment (1,2,3), increased lifespan (4,5), preventing certain neurological diseases like Alzheimer’s disease (6), lower risk of type 2 diabetes (7) and more, we’re only going to focus on intermittent fasting as it relates to losing fat and building muscle. From an uninformed viewpoint, intermittent fasting may resemble a simple calorie restriction diet - after all, it’s just like skipping breakfast. However, fasting does have additional benefits compared to other diets. Besides the natural reduction in calorie intake due to fewer meals, fasting also results in a progressive increase in mean growth hormone pulse frequency and pulse amplitude (8). That means that the levels of growth hormone in your blood can reach as high as five times the normal numbers, without the adverse effects that come with taking the synthesised version. Fasting also decreases insulin levels (9), which leads to the body burning more body fat for fuel, something that is highly desirable for people who are looking to lose weight. Considering that our body fat evolved mainly for surviving through periods of famine, It would make sense for the body to try and and burn it to preserve as much hard-earned muscle mass as possible. In addition, periods of fasting alter the function of some hormones in our body. It increases release of a hormone called norepinephrine or noradrenaline, which is responsible for two relevant things: In brown adipose tissue, it creates an increase in calories burned to generate body heat, and in adipose tissue, more commonly known as fat cells, it causes an increase in lipolysis, which is conversion of fat to substances that can be used directly as energy sources by muscles and other tissues. Combined with decreased insulin and increased growth hormone, fasting actually increases your metabolic rate by 3.6-14% in the short term (10, 11). In essence, this is why intermittent fasting works so well: it approaches the problem of losing weight from two direction by both reducing calories and increasing energy expenditure. Then what about about muscle mass? Won’t I lose some because of fasting? Many people believe that fasting for a period of time will cause them to lose muscle, but studies have shown that muscle loss is comparable with diets based solely on calorie restriction and that fasting causes no adverse effects (12). If you combine your diet with resistance training, there is no fear of losing too much muscle (13). Another common fear is that the body will go into “starvation mode” and start storing more calories as fat. However, that doesn’t occur until after 60 hours of fasting, much longer than any protocol mentioned here, and even then by a mere 8 percent (14). And now comes the final question: is intermittent fasting any better for sustained, long term fat loss compared to other studies? The science on this is still inconclusive: some studies show that IF is better, more research is needed.

It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about the power of intermittent fasting. This is not a diet, but a pattern of eating. Why does it work? Because it triggers Growth Hormone and inhibits insulin. The purpose of intermittent fasting is to lower insulin, take the stress off insulin and the gland that makes it - pancreas, and thus restore your metabolism. This can heal a plateaued set-point. If you have fat in your mid-section, then we know you have high insulin. INSULIN RESISTANCE: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxl8hhyN6AQ WHAT TO EAT: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHKaygC0PnQ Start with 3 meals per day, no snacking. Then do 3 meals per day but only eating your 3 meals in a 8 hour window, thus fasting for 16 hours. Ultimately, you want to fast for 20 hours and eat within a 4 hour window - 2 meals per day. If you add exercise, high intensity interval training, you can greatly enhance Growth Hormone even more. Benefits of One Meal a Day Intermittent Fasting

It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about doing intermittent fasting at a frequency of one time per day. If you get all your nutrients, it is not starvation, it's a super healthy eating plan. Doing this will not just help you lose weight (belly fat), but help you achieve autophagy, which is cleaning up all the damaged cellular parts and bacterial residue (mold, fungus, virus, candida and bacteria). It is anti-aging and will help your body proteins. You want to transition to 1 meal per day gradually, starting with three meals a day, then two and then one - ensure you do not snack. Our current eating in society is based on keeping your blood sugars up and preventing low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). When doing 1x per day intermittent fasting, make sure you also do keto (ketogenic diet) and not do junk food. Doing 3 meals a day with snacking is not good for your health and will not help you lose weight even if you eat healthy because every time you eat, you increase insulin. This results in insulin resistance. This is also called metabolic syndrome. I think it can inhibit diabetes. Doing 1 meal a day will increase your lifespan (anti-aging). Intermittent Fasting Meal Plan to Get Lean and Ripped

06:59
If you want an intermittent fasting meal plan to get lean and ripped, watch this video. I will show you my exact intermittent fasting meal plan that I have been using over the past 7 weeks to get really lean and ripped. Build your dream body here - http://fitfastlane.com Subscribe to my channel here - http://bit.ly/2jtySfj In this video I share with you my exact intermittent fasting meal plan to get lean and ripped. I have been putting intermittent fasting into practice for some years now, and it has always helped me burn fat very well. When I first found intermittent fasting it was in an attempt to find out how I could burn the fat that had been on my body forever and finally reveal my six pack abs. I came across a very well-known method that is used heavily today, 16 8. This means that you fast for 16 hours and have an 8 hour eating window to consume all your food for the day. This is the exact intermittent fasting method I used today still, with a slight variation. After experiencing and studying intermittent fasting for many years I would have to say that the reason it works so well is because it increases your growth hormone. The main hormone in your body that is responsible for burning fat. This is where my slight variation comes into play. With that being the key, I only eat 2 meals a day. This gives me the best combination to keep my growth hormone high and my insulin levels low so that I can burn the most amount of fat possible. According to Dr. Berg every time we eat our insulin levels spike shutting off our fat burning hormone which is growth hormone. This is why I believe as do many professional doctors that intermittent fasting and only have two meals a day is a great way to keep your growth hormone high and insulin levels low, so you can burn the most amount of fat possible. If you watch the whole video through, which I hope you do. There are going to be a few key points that are very important to watch for. You will notice that the main staple of my intermittent fasting meal plan is greens. The reasons greens are so darn good and necessary is because they are loaded with micro nutrients, vitamins and minerals. They help you stay full all day long. There low in calories, which is very important for losing weight, because being in a calorie deficit is necessary is you want to lose weight. Also because of the micro nutrients you will notice that your body functions a lot better and you will even see your outward appearance change like having clearer skin. Put this intermittent fasting meal plan into practice and watch the magic unfold. You don’t necessarily have to eat exactly what I have shown in this video. The main things you want to eat are lots of greens, little bit of fruit, and protein. Keep away from sugar, processed foods, breads and pasta. These types of food will spike your insulin big time shutting off fat burning. If you want more than just an intermittent fasting meal plan, and want to get leaner, stronger, and fit. Head over to http://fitfastlane.com/fitquiz/ and take the FITQUIZ get started on building your dream body. Intermittent Fasting vs. Time Restricted Eating- Thomas Delauer

Watch this live to clear it up: https://youtu.be/fd30OmtUp1I Click here to subscribe to my YouTube Channel for more free health and nutrition tips: https://www.youtube.com/thetdelauer?sub_confirmation=1 Intermittent Fasting vs. Time Restricted Eating- Thomas Delauer… Time-restricted eating (TRE) is essentially fasting, or a type of intermittent fasting, but focuses on when to eat, rather than what to eat - popular as “restricted eating” seems less scary than “fasting.” The time constraints of Time Restricted Feeding vary anywhere from a 12 hour eating window, an 8 hour eating window, all the way to 4 hours - refers to when eating is limited to a certain number of hours each day (1) Weight Loss vs Hormonal Benefits- According to researchers at the Regulatory Biology Laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies, when we eat may be as important – or even more important – than what we eat. *These guys from the Salk Institute are big on time restricted eating and the following study was to prove how effective it is* Study- Fed two sets of mice, which shared the same genes, gender and age, a diet comprising 60 percent of its calories from fat (like eating potato chips and ice-cream for all your meals.) One group of mice could eat whenever they wanted, consuming half their food at night (mice are primarily nocturnal) and nibbling throughout the rest of the day. The other group was restricted to eating for only eight hours every night; in essence, fasting for about 16 hours a day. Two control groups ate a standard diet comprising about 13% of calories from fat under similar conditions. After 100 days, the mice who ate fatty food frequently throughout the day gained weight and developed high cholesterol, high blood glucose, liver damage and diminished motor control, while the mice in the time-restricted feeding group weighed 28% less and showed no adverse health effects despite consuming the same amount of calories from the same fatty food. Further, the time-restricted mice outperformed the ad lib eaters and those on a normal diet when given an exercise test (2) The difference between the two is more of a verbal approach as the benefits you receive from TRE are those that you would experience from fasting, i.e. reduced insulin, increased hgh, etc. However, the main goal of TRE seems to be focused mainly on weight loss and reducing your overall caloric intake. Reduced Caloric Intake- One study, following “time restricted eating,” found that when healthy adult men limited their eating to about a 10-hour window, it reduced the number of calories they ate each day by about 20% Another study, from the European Journal of Sports Science, reported that young men ate about 650 fewer calories per day when they limited their food intake to a 4-hour period. Downside- While time restricted eating encourages caloric restriction, fasting does not - caloric restriction over an extended period of time does help with weight loss, but isn’t healthy overall. Study- Published in the journal Nature, the results suggest that dramatically cutting back on daily calories - by 30% - does not help monkeys to live longer than those who ate normally. The restriction did help older monkeys to lower their levels of triglycerides, a risk factor for heart disease, but otherwise conferred no significant health or longevity benefit (3) ------------------------ Leptin levels lower and your metabolism comes to a halt. Several studies show that low-calorie diets can decrease the number of calories the body burns by as much as 23% Calorie restricted diets are often lower in protein, which results in muscle loss, but they are usually also low in iron, folate or vitamin B1, which can lead to fatigue. Continuous caloric restriction has also been shown to reduce levels of estrogen and testosterone, contributing to infertility and libido-related issues, as well as reduce bone formation and increase bone breakdown, resulting in weaker bones (4) References: 1) Time-Restricted Eating: A Beginner's Guide. 3 Growth Hormone Tricks: Naturally Elevate GH For Faster Fat Loss

06:34
Growth Hormone, or "GH", is "all the rage" right now in the anti-aging and fat loss world. Some people are even subjecting themselves to fake Growth Hormone injections just trying to look younger and burn more fat. Crazy, huh? Luckily, there are MUCH safer, easier and all-natural choices..... In today's video, Shaun reveals 3 easy tricks you can use to safely and naturally elevate Growth Hormone for faster fat loss. Whether you want to burn more fat, achieve a "younger" look or both, these 3 tricks will work for you. Enjoy! Published studies: This study shows that fasting prior to exercise increases nutrient uptake and absorption in post workout meals: http://www.springerlink.com/content/w8712615714k8150/ This one demonstrates that fasting increases the release of catecholamines (precursors to adrenalin) and therefore naturally increases resting metabolic rate. If you combine that with high intensity exercise, you get a powerful 1-2 punch: http://www.ajcn.org/content/71/6/1511.abstract This study (for the first time) shows that fasted training is more potent than fed training to facilitate adaptations in muscle and to improve whole-body glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity during hyper-caloric fat-rich diet. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20837645

Religions prescribe periods of fasting. Ancient Greeks did it for mental clarity. In the last 50 years there has been a strong move against fasting. 03:06 Nothing Wrong with Fasting: Dr. Fung investigated fasting and found that fasting had a great many benefits. Periodic fasting allows your body to burn off fat. Dr. Fung uses it with all of his overweight patients. Blood sugar medications need to be monitored closely once implementing fasting, or blood sugar could go too low.05:25 Hypoglycemia: If you are taking blood sugar meds, you may become hypoglycemic. 09:42 Muscle Loss and Fasting: Starvation mode and muscle loss are two of the many myths. Hypoglycemia is not a big concern unless you are taking blood sugar meds. As you fast, you will consume glycogen. 16:53 Hormones of Fasting: Fasting increases growth hormone. It increases noradrenaline. These are counter regulatory hormones, which counter the effect of insulin. Insulin lowers blood glucose. 22:04 Three Day a Week Fast: Dr. Fung does 24 hour fasts. 26:32 Anti-Aging Benefits: Skin is protein, so skin may alter with intermittent fasting. During the process of fasting, you get rid of old cells as part of renovation. 28:44 Autophagy: mTOR is a major regulator of autophagy. Protein turns off autophagy. mTOR is a nutrient sensor, sensing protein. 33:37 Salt and Fasting: One reason why Dr. Fung’s patients use bone broth during a fast is for salt intake. 35:49 Kidney Function: 37:07 Hormone Impacts: The main hormone affected by fasting is insulin. 42:17 Cortisol and Fasting: Cortisol does rise with fasting. It is part of the counter regulatory hormones. 43:14 Noradrenaline & Fasting 48:09 Calories: Calories have nothing to do with weight loss. Fasting is about changing your hormones. 49:50 Nutrient Changes in the 1950s: There was little obesity. People ate cookies, white bread and ice cream. You ate within a 10 hour window. 54:51 Bullet Proof Coffee/Fat Fasting: Many of the benefits of fasting come from reducing insulin. Pure fat has almost no insulin effect. 56:26 Ketogenic Diet: Intermittent fasting and ketogenic diet are along the same spectrum, close cousins. The ultra-low carb ketogenic diet lowers insulin. Low carb diet delivers 71% of the insulin lowering of fasting. 01:00:39 Dr. Fung’s Morning Routine: 01:03:45 Dr. Fung’s Favorite Nutrient: 01:07:54 Dr. Fung’s Elevator Pitch: We need to teach people about the therapeutic value of fasting. It has the potential to change the entire health system of the world. Most of what we do is treat diabetes, high blood pressure and all of the downstream issues. All of this can be taken care of for free. We need to spread the knowledge of how to do it.

Does Intermittent Fasting KILL MUSCLE? (Diet Confusion)

13:29
Stop being confused by how to eat to lose fat and build muscle http://athleanx.com/x/easiest-meal-plan Intermittent fasting is certainly one of the most talked about methods of eating to lose fat. It has gained it's popularity mostly by those who have had some success with it...in the short term! The issue with intermittent fasting and even some of the other diet methods talked about in this video is that they are questionable long term solutions at best. In fact, a recent study was published that questioned whether intermittent fasting actually killed muscle or led to accelerated muscle catabolism. Given the nature of the diet, it's easy to see where this research has come from. Going long periods without eating (up to 18 hours) flies in the face of sound long term nutrition principles and respect for one's metabolism. I'm not even talking about metabolism in reference to metabolic rate, but rather just the brain's preference for consistent supply of nutrient rich (glucose rich) blood, preferentially in the form of food rather than through secondary compensatory means that the body has of producing glucose in times of need. Other diet techniques and protocols similar to intermittent fasting in their "fad" nature include fat elimination diets, the Atkins diet, and juice diets. While all may in fact deliver short term fat loss results, most will never be sustainable for the long haul. They will wind up leaving you fat again and looking for the next short term solution. In order to burn fat and build muscle most consistently, you need to follow a healthy and balanced diet consisting of fibrous carbohydrates, starchy non-refined carbs, high quality protein, and healthy fats. No macro or micronutrient should ever be entirely excluded from your diet if you want a long term solution. Why Intermittent Fasting Is So Effective - With Thomas DeLauer

09:22
Control your major fat burning hormones with this proven trick: http://go2.sixpackshortcuts.com/SH2A1 -- Check out Tom's channel here: http://www.youtube.com/user/TheTdelauer -- Hey guys, Thomas DeLauer here... I did this video because I want to talk a little bit about something I do from time to time, and that's intermittent fasting. We've all heard the school of thought that we need to eat every two hours. The reason behind that thought process is that we want to keep glucose levels higher, keep amino acid levels and nitrogen balance higher so that we don't catabolize and break down muscle tissue... So we're always eating. The general idea behind intermittent fasting (or what most people think) is that by reducing the calorie intake, glycogen stores in muscles, glucose levels... You're allowing your body to start tapping into fat stores more efficiently. That does make sense... but only for a short amount of time. Your body isn't just gonna magically start breaking down fat tissue. A lot of times, it might start breaking down muscle tissue and protein through a process called gluconeogenesis. So it's not magic... You stop eating and your body starts burning fat... Otherwise you'd have a lot more people walking around that are ripped, because a lot of us simply don't eat. Basically the benefit of intermittent fasting more so comes from the secretion of human growth hormone. I wanna focus this video mostly on that HGH secretion because that is such a big component. There are a multitude of different reasons why intermittent fasting is great, and why it's great to do from TIME TO TIME. So here we go: HGH is secreted by the pituitary gland (a gland in the brain) which handles many of your master functions... and a lot to do with recovery or cell growth or cell regeneration... or muscle growth. Unfortunately those levels naturally decline as we age, so if we have higher levels of HGH, it's only natural that we would have higher levels of lean body mass and lower levels of body fat. They're clinically associated with each other. Hormones vary with their secretion throughout the day. They surge and spike, but if we eat to manipulate that, we can really progress. Our growth hormone levels are at their highest first thing in the morning. ...Because we've been fasting. We haven't been flooding our body with food, or glucose. So the body secretes HGH to preserve body weight... but once we eat breakfast, the growth hormone levels start to drop. If we start fasting, we can extend growth hormone secretion, which allows us to build a little more muscle and get a little leaner. The caveat is that the calorie intake isn't there to support muscle growth, so we have to time it perfectly. That's where we get into the two different types of fasting...The first one is called a full day fast - SO you would pick one day out of the week that you're going to fast for the entire day... 24 hours. This has a lot of positive effects in the way of cellular inflammation. It gives your digestive system a break. It's not the best if you're trying to build TONS of muscle, but i'ts great to stimulate recovery, keep your body healthy, give your digestive system a break and allow the body to just relax. The other benefit is a full 24 hour period of extra growth hormone secretion. So if you're trying to stay ripped, lean, or achieve a little bit of weight loss... This is the perfect plan for you. The other method is called a daily fast - that you've likely heard of already. You'll fast for 16-18 hours and then binge for 6-8. Try to eat the right kind of foods of course... But do it every day. This daily fast allows you to capitalize more on insulin levels. You'll reduce your caloric intake to nothing for 16 hours.... go to the gym at the end of your fasting period, break your fast with your post workout meal, and eat for a few hours. So you capitalize on a little bit of the elevated HGH, but also a high level of insulin sensitivity which means when you DO eat, your body will latch on to what your eating, absorb it, and allow you to recover better. But at the end of the day, people find that when they do a fasting program, they get results because they can stick to the program better. Meal prep is a lot easier. You're not constantly worrying about food. When it gets down to the wire and you're trying to get the last percent of fat off, it's not going to be the best way to go. So there you have it, if you want to still be able to enjoy your life a little bit but still keep your HGH high and keep muscle on... Then this might be one of the best methods for you. Thanks for checking it out today guys! As always, tune into SPS for more fitness, nutrition, and fat loss tips: http://go2.sixpackshortcuts.com/SH2A1 Peace, Thomas PS Don't forget to share this with your friends! http://youtu.be/k61PqPrUCTQ -- This crazy trick gets you ripped: http://go2.sixpackshortcuts.com/SH2A1

Why Low Calories Does Not Equal Weight Loss

10:11
Find Your Body Type: http://bit.ly/BodyTypeQuiz Calorie is a unit of energy in food. Each type of food (carbohydrates, proteins and fats) has its own unit of energy. Protein contains 4 calories per gram Carbohydrates contain 4 calories per gram Fat contains 9 calories per gram You can see that fat contains more than double the calories per weight. Yes, the assumption is that consuming fat, which contains more calories will cause more weight gain. But what is rarely factored into this equation is: The HORMONE piece of the puzzle. Remember there are 6 fat burning hormones and 3 fat-storing hormones and each set is influenced by different foods. Insulin is the most powerful "fat-making hormone". It will convert food into fat easily. It is triggered by: *Sugar Carbohydrates (including grain carbs, fruit juice and starch carbs (potato, rice and corn). *Excess protein. Interestingly, fats are neutral and are not triggered by any of the fat-storing hormones. Growth Hormone (GH) is the most powerful "fat-burning hormone". It will trigger the fat-burning process. It is triggered by: *Protein (small amounts) WHY? To understand this more, we need to look at the purpose of these 3 types of foods. Protein: needed to repair and replace many body structures (muscles, tendons, collagen, hair, nails, hormones, etc.). We constantly need protein to replace the body tissue. So our body needs a certain amount of protein, and this is why only excess protein is converted to fat. We recommend 3-4 ounces. Fat: needed to repair and replace many body structures (the outer walls of all cells, mini-structures inside our cells, our entire nervous system, our entire skin, our brain and our hormones). Interestingly, there is a diet called the Ketosis Diet in which the person lives exclusively on fats and oils. I SIDE NOTE: You may then ask yourself, why then don't we apply this diet for people? Because long term, it can cause problems. All the fat coming off the body can clog the liver and create a fatty liver. *Sugar Carbs (including grains, starches and sweet fruits). *Vegetable Carbs (vegetables which do not turn into sugars easily). Slimdown Secrets™ - Why is HGH vital to losing weight… and how can you increase your levels of HGH? • https://www.10daybellyslimdown.com/videos/ • Human Growth Hormone, or HGH, is a hormone that’s crucial for metabolizing fat and sculpting lean muscle. Description: BOOST YOUR HGH. Human Growth Hormone, or HGH, is a hormone that’s crucial for metabolizing fat and sculpting lean muscle. As you age, your body secretes less HGH—and that’s a big reason why your muscles get smaller and your belly gets bigger! Luckily, there are two great ways to boost your HGH: with high-intensity interval training (or HIIT) and mini-fasting. HIIT involves short bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by low-intensity recovery periods. One study found that a 24-hour mini-fast increases HGH by an average of 1,300 percent in women, and nearly 2,000 percent in men. Want even more fat-burning power? Combine these strategies, and do HIIT while you’re fasting. You’ll send your HGH through the roof and burn up to 20% more calories! Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about IGF-1; Insulin-Like Growth Factor. This is an extension of Growth Hormone. IGF-1 is made by the liver and triggered by GH (Growth Hormone). It does help in the release of fat. It is a fat burning hormone, it helps in releasing fuel when you are not eating. It works when insulin is low and will be decreased when there is high cortisol (stress), high insulin (sugar) and high estrogen. Intermittent Fasting: Top 5 Mistakes- Thomas DeLauer

08:36
Click Here to Subscribe: http://Bit.ly/ThomasVid Website: http://www.thomasdelauer.com Intermittent Fasting: Top 5 Mistakes- Thomas DeLauer… No Healthy Foods: At the end of a fast people will be hungry and, as a result, will make poor decisions on what to eat. Your stomach is like a muscle. When it's filled with large meals three times a day, the dispensability (amount your stomach walls can stretch) increases. When you head in the other direction - eating many small meals throughout the day - your stomach's capacity goes down. Intermittent fasting will make you eat fewer meals, resulting in your stomach shrinking and less caloric intake. People will indulge in a less than healthy meal and feel overly full after – don’t have room for veggies as stomach shrinks. Less Calories: Most people who try intermittent fasting end up cutting weight. You might plan big meals, but consistently eating them is difficult in practice. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Most people lose weight while intermittent fasting because when they cut out meals, they don't make up for it with bigger meal sizes. Even if you tell people that they can eat two large meals at lunch and dinner, they typically end up eating fewer calories than they would at 3 or 4 normal meals. Creamer: A “fasted state” is merely a definition of a specific metabolic state — no food (calories) whatsoever in the gut. Any food or drink with a caloric value will cause a spike in insulin because insulin is the hormone that regulates whether you store fat or release it. In a fasting state, the metabolism draws a significant amount of its energy from stored fat, any small amount of calories coming in (cream in your coffee, for example) would nudge the body away from metabolizing fat until those calories are used up. Also breaking the long term effects of a fast. By maintaining low levels of insulin throughout your fast, you ensure that the body has a chance to release — and use — fat stores. Enough calories would elicit enough insulin that fat metabolism would diminish, since insulin discourages lipolysis (2) BCAAs: A 2011 study, from the Journal of Nutrition, looked at the effects of branched-chain amino acid supplementation on plasma concentrations of free amino acids, insulin, and energy substrates in a group of men aged 22-25. On the first day, the participants arrived at the laboratory after an overnight fast. A baseline blood samples was acquired and then the subjects consumed the beverage with 1 g of BCAAs. Seven additional blood samples were acquired during the subsequent 3 hrs. Five days later, the same participants repeated the procedure with a beverage containing 5 g BCAAs. Found that plasma insulin levels transiently spiked after BCAA ingestion and spikes in insulin can be detrimental when fasting – halts the fat burnings effect (1) Study Links: For BCAA study: Full Study (Journal of Nutrition): http://jn.nutrition.org/content/136/1/324S.full Summarized versions: http://easacademy.org/research-news/article/effects-of-branched-chain-amino-acid-supplementation-on-plasma-concentrations-of-free-amino-acids-i https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21512300 Drinking Enough Water: When fasting, your body goes through a process known as apoptosis where your body doesn’t have to digest food, so it begins getting rid of dead or broken cells. Without enough water, your body is unable to transport and excrete what it needs to. On top of that, the majority of your energy needs are being supplied by breaking down fat stores during the fast . Fat is the storage site for most toxins your body encounters, and releasing a bunch of this fat will also release a bunch of toxins in your bloodstream. Mineral Consumption: Adding the right kind of salt, in the form of sea salt, to your diet during your fasting eating period is important when reducing caloric intake because every structure and function of the body needs minerals to function properly.
