"The tumult at Our Revolution continued raging with the resignation of another founding board member late Wednesday.
The decision by Catalina Velasquez, an undocumented immigrant and transgender activist who was co-vice chair of the Bernie Sanders-inspired organization, came during a week of reverberations in the wake of a POLITICO report detailing widespread problems within the group.
A number of people have complained about inattention by the group to Latino and immigrant issues. Others have cited open hostility by a woman whom Our Revolution President Nina Turner had tried to make her chief of staff.
“For the past month, we have been fighting divisive narratives targeting immigrants and pinning us against other oppressed peoples,” wrote Velasquez in a letter she posted on Twitter. “I have faced this with little to no support from the organizational leadership.””*

Young Turk (n), 1. Young progressive or insurgent member of an institution, movement, or political party. 2. A young person who rebels against authority or societal expectations.(American Heritage Dictionary)
Progressives are (kinda) poor, media needs to sell commercials, advertisers need to sell product via commercials, how e
Will progressives spend their money? News agencies do not want to advertise to lower profit margins so why write positive political arguments when the progressives are typically "cheapskate millineals?" Editor's mandate: write stories for high value and quantity eyeballs....but do not look obviously desperate.
I suspect that Politico hires entitled hate horses that don't realize the damage they do to the soul of the country they show their trolly love for in their personal lives. Trolls. Trolls everywhere, isn't it just so sad when people are bred into sickness and then expose themselves with their so-called professional careers...
I think too many politicians have an aversion to failure. A fear of failing that keeps them from trying anything at all. I think progressives running as the underdogs without pac money have a lot of courage that threatens the insecure establishment. But we have so many problems that need solutions. Most politicians are not geniuses. There’s no magical fix-all policy. I just want people who will try and try and try their best looking out for the interests of everyone, and when they fail they can admit to it and move on. Keep going and govern this country each trail and error at a time. In science and business and music and sports you don’t succeed without failure. Let’s not be afraid of failing but afraid of losing integrity and purpose. I have faith in progressives that one day their efforts will pay off!
Politico is liberal--whats your problem? Nevertheless, your regressives wont be going anywhere because the DNC WONT fund them, not to mention they are over 5 million in debt and would rather spend their limited resources where a Democrat has a chance of winning.
Great ad campaign for Alison Hartson. I wish I could vote for her, but I live in Vermont. I wish all Americans could vote for the politicians they agreed with where they're not limited to the bounderies of their states.
Yes voting for socialism is anti establishment legitimate all parties are socialist republican support social security democrats support social security. Social security is socialism and its broke do to government mismanagement.
Bernie Sanders 30y old Michael Rotundo needs a job and would serve the Sanders campaign as a perfect role model of what Democratic socialism will do to people. Bernie wants to change the name and donkey symbol of the Democratic party. The new name and symbol will be The Socialist-Communist-Marxist-Sanders Peoples Regressive Leftist party with a brain dead Zombi holding arms and hands straight for free government handouts as their symbol. The word Democrat is also triggering as it can no longer be a supporter of democracy. The party must steal from the rich to give to lazy people. You can no longer use Hammer/Sickle as this is offensive and "triggers " snowflakes and SJWs. The reason for SJW taking offense is because it represents hard work. You can't have hard work triggering snowflakes as it racist and bigoted to imply hard work! You need ask yourself if you believe in equality of opportunity then you are for free markets and a capitalist economy. Then of you believe in progressive ideology of equality of outcome then your against hard work and are a Communist. You have to be a brain dead retard to want to vote for them and Bernie,TYT and Cenk Uyogurt proves once more that Progressivism/Liberalism is a MENTAL DISEASE!! The cure is as simple as moving out of parents basement, getting a pair of balls, tougher skin to prevent melting like a snowflake ,getting a FACTS OVER FEELINGS mentality and last but not least a JOB!!!
The establishment is pretty desperate to try to poison the progressive well early. They understand that are a direct THREAT to their fleecing of America, and will try to do anything to divide and subdue us. Don't let them.
If a group is getting over 50% win rate in primaries then they are not being aggressive enough in endorsing the marginal candidates and races. In Virginia for our state house elections we had the official part support going to the top 10 or so most likely to win delegates, but we had grassroots groups that explicitly helped candidates 11-20 and helped us get the 15 seats we won.
The reason politico hardly ever mention you guys is because you are phony progressives. Real progressives include: Dianne Feinstein, Hillary Clinton, Claire mccaskill... they truly fight for the working people and want to get money out of politics
Sorry Cenk, what Politico and others do is fake news. If someone lies, they are saying something that is not real, and if something isn't real it is fake. Their bias leads them to lie and the end product of that bias and those lies is fake news. I have been calling FOX news fake news since the 90's not only because they have a bias, but because they lie to their audience all the time. It is also why I found it amazingly ironic that they have the gaul to call anyone else fake news. They are the godfathers of fake news.
"look at (xyz) from south/red state" - I can only speak for Kentucky. Three things...
1) you may be surprised that their are cities here and they are blue (Lexington was mentioned).
2) in most areas things are blue local and red federal (KY-1 was mentioned and that is true there)
3) I have more twitter followers than the dem that won the KY-4 primary and I only started that handle this year (both of us are below 300)
That being said poltico should be more fair.
Also we appreciate any non-sterotype attention we get because neither party cares what goes on here.
Republicans vote politicians to defend conservadorism and democrats for the defense of liberalism...And BOTH vote for politicians who work 24/7 to redistribute money from middle class and the poor to the rich.
In my oppinion we shuld forget about conservadorism and liberalism and focus on economic and social services issues only.
You're wrong Cenk, they ARE fake news and they DO make things up. For example, in the 2016 election they PURPOSEFULLY conflated super delegates with delegates to make it seem like Hillary had a huge lead over Bernie when she didn't.
What they don't say either is that the Democratic estabishment lost 40% to newbies, how will they fare against established well funded Republicans? I think thet the DNC and DCCC are in disarray...How embarrassing is it for those establishment people that lost?
It's always an uphill battle. It's far more easy to believe in, or to encourage others to believe in, dogmatic ideals like that of hardcore Republicans. Progressives will always be coming at this from a disadvantaged position. But we don't whine about it, we fight.
In case of revolution, break habits.
Note to "oppressors": Have an epiphany. Soon. Maybe compassion FOR the oppressed now, won't lead to begging for compassion FROM them in the near future.
That fraud Stephanie Miller was reading this article on air on Progress radio as if its legit lol. She's so full of shit! Democratic loyalist doesn't equal Progressive sweetie. She loves to bash Bernie but loves Karmala Harris and all of those people who we had to pull teeth out of to get them to stop taking just a FRACTION of corporate money!
Remember, before any of the labels or party affiliations...ALL these politicians are first and foremost RICH one percenters! It's literally just in their own best interest to be against progressives.
So, quite simply, these politicians, regardless of party, ALL win, when progressives lose.
I also like how when Bernie announced his reelection campaign to Senate, the Hillbots thought he was running president. They thought that when they saw "re-election" because they treat him like he's the president or like he already won. Which subconsciously they know he has.
Politico? Looks like they're happy with only two party politics. They'll be working extra work in balancing three party. GET USE TO IT POLITICO, progressive is here to stay and on there way to the TOP!
This seems to be a con. People on the left will be disappointed. Sanders is likely to disappoint like Obama did. They are using peoples hopes for change to perpetuate the same old policies, with women and minorities to create an illusion of progress . Don't expect major changes from politicians.
With success comes more problems. All those rich SOBs will be showing up at your doors with truckloads of money now. It's hard to turn away money. I hope the progressives can stay strong against it and pass campaign reform laws quickly because some will cave and the new bosses will become the old bosses.
The Clinton's fundamentally changed the Democrat party into Republican lite in the 1990's. What they don't realize is that they are going the way of the dinosaurs and will soon die off as the party becomes closer to it's heyday of FDR progressive roots financially, coupled with modern day inclusiveness.
You win when publications like this have no choice but to recognise you or face going out of business. Like Magie Thatcher in the UK, she moved the whole country to the right, so Labour had to move from the left, to center right just to survive. Then like 40 years later we finally manage to get Labour back on the left with Jeremy and we’ve still not won. Winning is a long hard slog, yes take the victories and celebrate them but don’t say you’ve won until you have.
the only time I've ever seen anything from politico,
was when they said "anti fascists aren't your friends"
I was like "ohhhhhhhhhhhh really? and fascists are?"
from this I can only conclude: politico is not our friend
Who OWNS the media? Not progressive thinkers. Deeply committed to the status quo. So while they may, by and large, report accurately, only certain stories get reported, One reason I always start with BBC News, they have their own biases, but Trump and the global corporate hegemony is not one of them.
So I don't know if anyone else is curious about this, but what is the Democratic Party going to do during the general elections for these candidates now? Are they going to actually back the party's candidates? Or they not going to spend a single penny to get their own nominees elected and back the Republicans because the nominees are progressive? I seriously want to know, because I feel like it's 50/50.
Hillary hacked the Democratic Convention. Bernie Sanders might've had a chance to be president if he didn't say "if you're white you don't know what it is like to be poor or live in a ghetto". More whites are on food stamps than anyone in the USA
