Ring of Fire’s Mike Papantonio appears in THE DEVIL WE KNOW, the new documentary about the DuPont water contamination scandal. Watch this new excerpt and then go to the link to help this film change how toxic chemicals are used! http://igg.me/at/thedevilweknow
What? the story broke 10 years ago. Last year places around Parkersburg put a do not drink advisory until they installed new filters after the EPA caught up with the years of research on C8. I remember the city here giving out water for weeks because of it. Did you know about that?
This is how blatant the corruption has become in the USA...certain folks can poison entire populations and still be conducting business and get free money from taxpayers and all Americans are interested in is their TV...
The rest of the world is hoping the US doesn't kill the whole world. The libertarians want less gov't regulation. Tell that to Flint, the Love Canal and a million other places the US. Where are all the christian right fans letting these people destroy god's bounty. Hypocrites.
I live there. A relative of mine worked at DuPont for years. Just within the last year the EPA improved their standards based on new research and suddenly the water source in some of the towns that didn't have really deep wells was considered unsafe to drink until we installed new filters on our water treatment. After many years after we knew the effects of C8. I remember as a teenager the scandal first coming to light over a decade ago. They did this for 50 years. So many people suffered from thyroid issues, other issues or died from the effects of C8. DuPont are criminals. Lawsuits are not enough. Only being punished to the maximum allowance of the law is appropriate.
I made a comment a bit ago about it, the public first learned about it a decade ago, but DuPont had been doing it for decades. It took a while but eventually after a decade of knowing turns out our water was unsafe to drink afterall. I live very close to the DuPont plants responsible and I had a relative who worked there even.
These are mostly crimes of the powerful not average joe.
Even on the poor side many poachers drive animals to extinction through their hunting in a quest to make ends meet/ feed there family/ live a subsistence lifestyle(read:cause = poverty).
Other countrys like china etc pollute as well, and there are subnational as well as independent contributors. But there's no organization quite like modern day GOP/Republican party.
If humanity goes extinct or we take a trip back a couple hundred years it'll be through them.
I have a feeling they know what's happening to the habitat and will just leave us behind once their finished extracting everything.
You've fallen for the establishments brainwashing campaign, as many right-wingers have as well.
They just want you to hate and hate and hate, it's much easier to keep an angry, unorganised population under control.
Stop falling for the racist crap. It's just a ploy to distract us from fighting the establishment.
The real correct question to ask is "When will the elitists understand that their greed is destroying the planet?"
and the answer to that question is, they already know, they just don't care. They have bunkers, security teams, and politicians to help them survive the aftermath of their evil actions.
@Saffron I think it could be argued that China is the product of two wars over opium and one of the largest and most violent civil wars in recorded history, the Taiping rebellion, which was caused in large part by Britain's constant badgering of the ruling class and the "opium for tea" bit they were doing through the East India Trading Company.
You call us weak brained low iq leftists lemming followers when you didnt even use some of the words in the correct context on top of that you forget a suffix which makes your adjectives to describe us sound improper i strongly advise you please try again
That is almost certainly Nick Cave and Warren Ellis' music. Two very apolitical highly intelligent musician/ songwriters.
If this channel paid royalties, that's fine. Otherwise, as a fan, I resent it's use VERY strongly.
I grew up down river about 40 miles from this plant. I grew up drinking water from the Ohio River, also bathing in as well. I'm 36 years old and have autoimmune disease. So many along the river are sick. I can't help but think every time I have a bad autoimmune day that it's because of DuPont and their disregard for human and animal life. I remember several years ago they did a study of the people in communities all along the river to see if they were contaminated by this chemical dumping. They paid participants $400 to give their blood for the study. Those people had to sign a waiver of liability to get the money, which means that they can never sue DuPont for the crime that they committed against their health. I wasn't living in the area at the time and decided not to participate but my family members did. Of course, we never were privy to the results. I don't think it's possible for me to prove that my autoimmune disease is caused by those chemicals but I wish with every fiber of my being that DuPont would be held liable and also criminally charged. They get away with this shit because the people along the river are poor predominantly. Then you have all the other chemical plants and coal fired power plants all along the river...who knows how much damage those have done to human health. I'm glad I got out when I did or it might be way worse for me now.
Flint, MI ... the movie 'Erin Brockovich' which is a true story about Pacific Gas and Electric Company of California poisoning the drinking water and now this! plus how many other cases are out there? Then the GOP has the balls to say we need less regulations! Does the word C R O O K mean anything to you?
I'd say we need a better shot with a more clear intent and end goal.
The problem is a corrupt system in general, and it's difficult to put in place any possible lasting change that would prevent them from getting us back here. We need to find a way to either clear out all the politicians at once, or block them from us making sure that no new corrupt asshats get in to power in the first place.
Unfortunately, the politicians aren't the only ones we are up against. We're also up against all the corporations, special interest groups, think thanks, and lobbyists who are financially motivated to keep the status quo as well.
Wolf-pack is a decent attempt, but it may not ever be enough if we're going to have to rely on our current politicians to actually vote in our favor once we do get the needed number of votes for an amendment.
The truth behind manufacturing is that it results in toxic byproducts that are expensive to deal with. So with the loss of manufacturing jobs to China, it's now their problem, and we see they are now ruining their environment so we can buy cheap products. Pay more for American manufacturers who follow regulation and sleep well at night, if you can find out who they are.
Gonna be kind of hard to find reputable companies in america who don't poison people with a republican government hell bent on destroying e.p.a. regulations and preventing legislation to cover the gaps.
spoder man hates TYT listen dude. I pay for my own care. You're just staring arguments. However, pollution thanks to big companies paying off lawmakers is not ok. High incidence of cancer, pollution, disease and tumors are my problem, your problem and everyone's problem. Use your brain. WV has been prayed upon by big industry for decades from big coal to DuPont etc. Lawmakers pocket money and look the other way on the backs of WV citizens. Unless you live here, you have zero dogs in this fight.
spoder man hates TYT my brain tumor, my chronic migraines, my rheumatoid arthritis, my neighbor dying of a brain tumor, my other neighbors granddaughter having a brain tumor, my coworker dying of a brain tumor, my mother dying of lung cancer, my uncle dying after years being a truck driver for carbide from unspecified disease. I could go on. Let's let big companies profit on our health. Sounds great.
