Flax Myth: Do NOT Eat Flax Seed

Оценок: 273 | Просмотров: 6083
Flax seed is one of the most terrible “so called health foods” you can eat. Compounds in flaxseeds work against your health. Get ready, because we’re about to Bust this Flaxseed myth once and for all! It’s important we first cover the breakdown of a handful of key compounds that are found in all flaxseeds and high in the vegan diet. Lignans: Lignans are phytoestrogens that have been shown to directly inhibit steroid synthesis while increasing estrogenic activity in the body. Flaxseeds are the richest known nutritional source of lignans. Genistein: Genistein is an isoflavone phytoestrogen that also increases estrogenic activity in the body while inhibiting important reproductive functions such as spermatogenesis and steroid hormone synthesis in men, while increasing uterine weight and and causing endocrine dysfunction in the female reproductive systems in women. Daidzein: Daidzein is another common isoflavone phytoestrogen that has been shown in the research to have similar anti-reproductive effects in both men and women. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10325492 (Shows interference with bioavailability and and steroid metabolism, and have estrogenic activity. Also states flax seed is the richest source of these lignans.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7490559 (shows use of dietary lignans and isoflavones to reduce 5 alpha reductase.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2752973/ (Shows a significant reduction in androgen levels due to flaxseed supplementation.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19064574 (This study showed a significant decrease in serum cholesterol, which we know later leads to decreased steroid production.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/18328014 (Shows lowered total and ldl cholesterol in postmenopausal women.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11445478 (Shows significant decrease in cholesterol, testosterone, and free androgens.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/2826899 (Shows one of the lignans found in flaxseed enterolactone has a negative correlation with testosterone, as well as a positive correlation with SHBG.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/1314077 (Although support it for having a slight chance of anti cancer effects this study shows these compounds are able to compete for the type 2 estrogen receptor.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22943974 (shows flax increase 17 beta estradiol but has no effect on how the pen15 develops.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/26337632 (Lactating rats fed flax lead to hypercorticosteronaemia in adult male offspring.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/21448850 (Shows exposure during feeding of rats can have an impact on thyroid hormone metabolism in adult male offspring.) https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/01635580801971864 (Shows flax lowers shbg steroid hormone in obese women.) https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1207/S15327914nc391_8 (Shows decrease in 17 beta estradiol and estrone sulfate but increase in prolactin in postmenopausal women.) https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/00984109909350177 (Shows flaxseed potential to alter reproduction in a dose dependent manner) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25163581 (This case study showed a woman went into anaphylactic shock after ingesting linseed containing bread.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/23550019 (Endocrine disruptors and phytoestrogen underlie a suit of adverse human health effects. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/12943716 (Consumption of phytoestrogens alter hormone sensitive hypothalamic brain volumes in mice.) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0022473187902007 (Shows an inverse correlation with high fiber to excretion of estrogen.) https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/096007609390022O (Shows inhibition of aromatase.) http://joe.endocrinology-journals.org/content/147/2/295.short (Shows that lignans and isoflavones inhibit 5a-reductase.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8049151 (Shows another reduction in aromatase activity. I thought phytoestrogens were good because they are many times weaker than the human bodies own estrogens as well as protecting us from xenoestrogens which i thought were 10thousand times more powerful than our own? What i thought phytoestrogens were good for was to take up our estrogen receptor cites thereby protecting us from those more powerful estrogens. Im taking about using phytoestrogens in a dose dependant manner so we dont overdo it as well but just enough taken to negate the worse effects of worse environmental estrogens. Is it true that Flax is seven times more estrogenic than soy? Even Resveratrol is a powerful phytoestron so would we want to take these weaker phytoestrogens to protect ourselves from the estrogens in milk and dairy and xenoestrogens from pesticides and what have you? My theory is that we need phytoestrogens but in a frugal manner in order to compete for the receptor cites from these xenoestrogens. So in a sense these phytoestrogens can protect you from cancer so long as we are not uptaking the much stronger estrogens. Also a healthy liver is essential in the meyhylayion process to help us break down our own as well as environmental estrogens and hormone accumulation. And what about iodine? Isnt iodine an estrogen antagonist and counters estrogen dominance and can therefore remedy the effects of too much any kind of estrogen. And would seaweed with iodine taken in microgram amounts be sufficient? Lastly, what about other confounding factors in flax seeds such as the effects of high PUFA fats found in flax seeds have on our thyroid health? Wouldnt those fats taken excessively make cellular respiration difficult due to oxidative stress as well as blocking our insulin receptor cite altering fuel metabolism thereby ramping up cortisol? And doesnt excessive prolonged cortisol lead to thyroid dysfunction and estrogen dominance?

Why don’t you remove all of the rat and mice studies because we are not mice or rats so the amount that you would have to feed a rat to get the concurrent results in a human would be a single flaxseed or less.

At first I liked Christopher Walker, then I noticed he was misleading people on a lot of things ... PLEASE PEOPLE READ THIS & dont listen to this bullcrap. I eat a variety of seeds every single day day (+ meal), including chia, flaxseed, sunflower seeds and so forth, and guess what I've never been so optimal in my life when I introduce the seeds. Actually seeds are the most nutricious thing u can put in your system, due to the fact that its full of life (because its a seed, a seed means it contains all the necessary Healthy High Vibrations your body needs, because a seed is powerful and full of life, its ready to grow). Actually, each seed correspond to each chakras in your body, opening them up. If you think im weak I have a better physique than him and do one meal a day since 4 years now. The myth about seeds is that it would contain a component binding our estrogens, but what he didnt understand, its quite the opposite. All the studies say (on random internet) that its not healthy for you but actually seeds dont give you more estrogens, it will reduce them... It binds to estrogens by cancelling their effect, not by making it worse .. So yeah, bullshit Flaxseed are also a very powerful anti-fongus agent. Hope this clear things up, and trust me, hes wrong about a lot of things on this channel, I see exactly how he does his researches, he just type "myths" and give you a condensed speech about what he think is revolutionnary, just to make views or be original compare to others and selling you bullcrap products. If his intent was to really help people he wouldnt sell you guys bullshit supplements, supplements dont work & are not needed. When you have knowledge and u care about people u know that medicine is nature and free-form food, not unnatural remaked supplements that he sell 5x the real price its costing. Despite not having a youtube channel, my goal is to help other's people life & make them optimal, rather than making money ouf of you guys. If you truly do it with the heart, you dont expect money in return, just the fact u'll help people's life will be giving back to you the nature's way (some form of karma^^). Peace.

and to conclude with that, the omega3 found in flax seeds are quite unique, its the only omega3s that are missing in fish & sea products, its the 3rd form of omega3 your body needs (fish containing 1st and 2nd)

"One of the best cancer fighting foods is flaxseed." 'Flaxseed, also known as linseed, is an ideal source of dietary fiber, omega 3 fat, and lignan. Actually, it is the richest source of lignan on earth. It has lignan levels that are 100-800 times higher than any other plant source. Lignan has been shown in many studies to reduce the size of cancerous tumors in rats and mice, and has been used with success in treating both breast and prostate cancer in humans. That means flaxseeds are more potent than virtually any other plant source when preventing and fighting cancer." https://thetruthaboutcancer.com/flaxseeds-can-prevent-help-heal-body-cancer/

We are not rats! You can not draw any correlation between rat studies and human health. The amount of flax that the rats were probably eating would be equivalent to several pounds of flax seeds in humans. I eat a tablespoon of flax a day not several pounds.

Yeah just because it's called phytoestrogen doesn't mean it inhibits steroid production. Phytoestrogen is good for you it is not the same as estrogen, there will always be different studies with varying evidence I'm sure there are just as many surveys saying the complete opposite of what you are saying. If you give somebody too much of anything it will be bad for you. Every plant has genistein, and vegetarians have a smaller chance of testicle cancer so you aren't helping anyone with this video possibly only doing damage.

Yeah very very confusing. Some studies you show only the abstract and not the conclusion which is not available. And you say things that do not counter the pro flax seed arguments: everyone agrees that phyto estrogen binds to receptors, but the difference is that they bind to other receptors that do not cause much side effect at low dose. And this decreases the production of oestrogen from the body which is more harmful. Also many of the studies are on rats and we don't know the dose, difficult to extrapolate to normal doses into human. Things like avocado are toxic in animal but healthy in human. When it comes to nutrition something healthy for man may not be for a woman, so feeding a rat an human the same I am sceptical on this model. And finally it's one study against another, Dr Gregger (I am not advocating him, I think he may be too passionate to have lucidity) shows some studies showing how men who were supposed to go under surgery avoided it with flax seeds. It's more relevant than rats or complex hypothesis on isolated component. Overall it looks like this video was more made to you are right (it says more or less if you don't agree with me you're an idiot) than to search the truth.

There are quadruple the studies claiming the benefits of flax seeds IN HUMANS not rats. Most of these are singular to few patients or RATS. This guy is dangerous, trying to veer people away from wholesome wholefoods and into taking his companies' supplements. It was just the same with his DHT hairloss myth.. I went for a full blood panel, ticking off everything on this guy's list & everything was clear, hereditary DHT sensitivity most likely being the culprit, like DR's have been saying FOR YEARS.The cynical bias in how he utilizes the data in front of him is toxic & unhelpful which is unfortunate considering the very obvious passion this guy has for this type of work. You want to produce an unbiased video? Show both the good and the bad data and judge it accordingly thereafter.

Christopher , I disagree with you and I love you too. I bought and Take Alpha Viril and it really works . Its a great product I am 74 and worked hard till 70 . I have taken one table spoon of flax seed for ten years and my estrogen goes up and down, When I started my PSA was .7 after going on flax seed it dropped to .5 . My estrogen jumped this year and my psa test is due from the lab any minute and I will report it to the group. My thyroid is normal. Christopher , I worked in shop fixing things with men . ---------- 7 men were due for biopsy and has PSA at 7 and above. They ate terrible food and did not exercise. Normal working guys . They also had enlarge prostate. Dr Gerber reported in Nutrition Facts org that the scientific study a control group study showed that flax seed battled prostate cancer and reduced PSA levels dramatically , All the men reduced the PSA Levels and avoided the biopsy and do not have prostate cancer . Young men with high testosterone level do not get prostate problems as you know . You can avoid flax seed and if you keep you testosterone level good ,. Your good to go. But its reported that some times high testosterone level are converted in the body to estrogen compounds . Flax seed has some difficult compounds but the body handles them if you take the right dose . More is not better. One table spoon in cereal can lower PSA 6 or 7points . Very significant . This is a real life and death study. The ones in our group not taking flax seed , sadly had a psa of 33 and needed radiation. The situation is complex and I bet too much flax seed is dangerous . Just like the wrong supplement to boost testosterone is dangerous and does convert I have read to estrogen . So I have been careful what supplement I take. I highly respect you and trust you. but I have had a different experiences with flax seed and I am careful how much I take of something . I just wanted to contribute to the discussion . All of my report is truthful and was tested on guys I worked with and socialized with and they made the choice. They saw they level drop, of course poor eating and lack of exercise is deadly, Bob

Yeah but mate it's not gonna turn you into a woman if you eat some flax seeds is it. You should be saying "don't over eat flax seeds" but instead you're creating this weird hysteria that you should never eat any flax seeds ever. Its stupid.

Please do a video on the dangers of potatoes. In a recent study, every single person on death row in every state and federal prison had eaten potatoes at least once within a 12 month period before murdering someone. Every single one! people need to wake up. they also ALL knew someone who had eaten popcorn made in a microwave.!!!!! Not making this stuff up.

LOL You just made my day haha. So you're saying that eating potatoes makes you violent to the point of murdering someone. Or maybe just that potatoes are so wide spread that 90% of people are just eating them. Cmon man you must be joking right ?

Train Eat Sleep 365 Days correction, tubers not vegetables.

Stick to sweet potatoes. They are not ''real'' potatoes actually, they are vegetables.

At 18:15 in the video you show an article on Flaxseed and Prostate Cancer Risk. I paused the video and read the article. It clearly states that in most cases flaxseed consumption inhibits the growth of prostate cancer. The evil is in the flaxseed oil, but the article says that consuming flaxseed itself generally suppresses the proliferation of prostate cancer cells in men who already have prostate cancer. I find nothing in that article that supports what you are saying except the reference to the danger of flaxseed oil, not the same as ground whole flaxseed. I have prostate cancer and the main benefit to me is the inhibition of cancer cell growth and proliferation, which flaxseed does. The article also states that historically, societies that eat diets high in phytoestrogens have lower incidences of prostate cancer. Your conclusions do not agree with your evidence.
Foodcrash (10 дней назад)
Ronald Good if I had cancer, i would not mess with any food that is under debate. Keep it as clean as possible, add in relevant supplements, fast, exercise and detox.

I feel for you Chris. The avg IQ on here is high again today. Favorite quotes so far: "I eat a lot of flax and am as healthy as hell. just stop." "..his willingness to take 57 studies at face value for no apparent reason other than their agreement with his opinion"

Thank ypu I was falling in the deception thanks to you I will scape but help me here were I can get Omega3 in a plant base diet now?
Seeing that a lot of flax seeds are now GMO and they can also be harvested using desiccation (dried on the plant using enormous amounts of herbicide) I have to ask, were the flax seeds used in these studies organically grown? If they were not organic, I would agree that they might be entirely poisonous and no one should eat them!

So, what does Dr Berg even mean when he says that flax seed raises good estrogen and lowers bad estrogen?
Matthew McHenry (11 дней назад)
Marty jr Dr. Berg seems to have an opinion that the phytoestrogens will bind to receptors but othetwise not function as estrogen. However, I have no knowledge whether that is possible or not and I don't know if Berg has evidence to back that claim.
Mahmoud (11 дней назад)
Tottaly agree...good job man thx for your efforts
RBR89 (11 дней назад)
The problem is that the animals used in this study were fed ISOLATED fito estrogens at unnatural high doses. We don't know what would have happened if they were fed the whole foods (flax and soy)

Am from India we have been using this seeds from very beginning... of u have arthritis... I have seen many people benefitting from these seeds... if u test anything on medical base... everything has side effects... everything.. u can see article on any food or anything on internet... science will say don't eat....

Thanks for the information. I have always wondered if there was some that was driving fibroids and huge breast amongst some of us african women. I have grown 4 breast sizes in 6 months with flax being a staple in my foods. There may be other factors but I belief flax boosted way too many things than i would love...

I love your channel and videos! Q: If they bind to estrogen receptors wouldn’t that actually prevent estrogen positive cancer cells from binding to the same receptor? Isn’t that what we try to achieve w hormone targeted therapy drugs for e+ bc ?

You guys must be complete fools for watching and believing such bullshit. Water and air are polluted too, just stop drinking and breathing already ffs and you will be set free real fast, You can also keep on listening to him, buy his shit and die at 50 it will take a bit longer but still a good way to end one's life when you're just a fool anyways... "Don' eat real food, buy supplements..." yeah sure man...

Matthew McHenry (11 дней назад)
It doesn't really matter how many studies you cite. You would make a far better argument if you applied some knowledge in order to simply validate if any of these studies are actually applicable. Do any of these studies actually analyze phytoestrogen absorbtion? It is supposed to be contingent on gut biome. Just based on that idea, any of these studies could be like the classic red meat study that didn't consider the diet as a whole. Another huge point you overlook is how flax was consumed in any of these studies. All these bad nutrients are not fat-soluable, so wouldn't it be critical to look at whether the subjects consumed whole seeds or oils? Nutrition studies are a dime a dozen, they aren't even worth mentioning if you don't dig into how they conducted their expiriment, who was funding them, etc.
wayne eligur (10 дней назад)
@ Matthew McHenry Way to go ! All correct!
Foodcrash (10 дней назад)
Wow, how did people become so judgemental and ungrateful with value given to them...Like they can even find two studies. I’ld like statisticians take these studies and evaluate them further. It’s not fun to be a first mover in any area....
Matthew McHenry (11 дней назад)
He didn't do much of any work here. You would think he would be sensitive to bias, since he is trying to "debunk" bad nutrition studies, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I was really hoping he would make an educated analysis of this issue.
wayne eligur (11 дней назад)
It sure can a lot of studies are retracted and also paid by corporations and this is common and reported by universities now.
Landon Parmer (11 дней назад)

LOL, the very first study talked about lower BPH (a good thing). Dude, you cherry picked TF out of it to get the "Shows interference with bioavailability and and steroid metabolism, and have estrogenic activity" conclusion. I don't eat flax seeds, so I'm not being defensive.

I just spent a wonderful day with people in their very late eighties at a pool party. These folks are active, have their own garden, mow their own lawns and take care of a big house. They never grew up eating these modern so called health foods like soy, flax seeds, and such things. They are not vegetarians or vegans. They don't even load up on supplements. They eat healthy, have a healthy mind and a positive attitude. Maybe we can start talking to some of these old people and learn something. They knew all along what science knows now.
rwlock24 (11 дней назад)
I have grandparents in their 80s and totally agree, they're some of the most positive people to be around. I think that's 70-80% of the battle right there. But you also have to remember that they didn't grow up in the industrialized food era that we're currently in. They weren't exposed to the crazy GMO's, pesticides, antibiotics, artificial growth hormones, preservatives, and all the other heavy chemicals, toxins, and metals that currently contaminate our entire food and water supply. Not to mention all of the wifi/cellular radiation that we're constantly soaking in. My personal opinion is that kind of stuff causes damage to the actual DNA, especially as kids when their bodies and brains are still developing, while being exposed to all of that. Almost all modern long term diseases (cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc.) can be traced back to the industrialization of agriculture. Not to mention the recent explosion of all kinds of mental disorders, which also didn't really seem to exist back then either. I think the pharmaceutical industry plays a massive role as well. So although I mostly agree with you, I still don't think it's an accurate comparison...
