I was recently prescribed Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I had a terrible side effect with a bad dry cough. The cough was 24/7. It can persist for weeks even if you stop taking Lisinopril. Stay away from this medicine if possible and ask your doctor for an alternative.
wow I have taken this shit for about 8 years.along with atorvastatin duloxetine my health has been fading.im on oxegen now.i had the cough so bad I would pass out I was stupid I probably lost 5 to ten years off my life warning don't let these dr.s with the shit they are peddling take your life my eyes are open now but its to late for me peace.
Yes it is true that some folks suffer no ill effects from this garbage. Some people can ingest things that would kill other folks and not suffer . As for this garbage, it is currently ruining my life. It is not a dry cough in my case, it is DRY MOUTH. You look on line and they say it is RARE side effect, BULLSHIT, just about everybody I spoke to that is on this poison suffers from dry mouth. I think big pharma is hiding this fact from folks, they say ace inhibitors cause dry mouth, then they say Lisinopril is an ace inhibitor, but Lisinopril does not cause dry mouth... HUH ???? It did not start right away, it was about 2 1/2 years into my usage of this garbage. That is what threw me off. Last March I started to have dry mouth issues, did some research on dry mouth, of all the causes, smoking, illegal drug use, cancer therapy, auto immune disease, medicine side effects, head trauma... guess which is the only one that applies... prescription side effects. And guess what is the only constant medicine... This snake oil called lisinopril. Doctor put me on it for high blood pressure, and I want off of it. I started a program of exercise and diet to reach this goal. I have lost almost forty pounds in the last five months, and y pressure is coming down. I know my doctor is not going to be happy on my next visit, as I am going to request he take me off this stuff , (no more kickbacks), but he is either going to wean me off this garbage, or I am going cold turkey. This dry mouth is such a nuisance.
My blood pressure still isn't under control since my doctor added this medicine about 5 months ago BUT my creatinine level is now up significantly. I'm also taking blood pressure meds which I've taken for years and my kidneys have never been affected so I'm thinking it could be the lisinopril. Or just the fact that my pressure stays on the higher side. I'm trying to heal myself with raw foods and herbs and kick these meds to the curb!
So I kept getting these heart palpitations after back to back illnesses. Needing to lose weight, I changed my lifestyle and decided to get healthy. As a part of getting healthy, I was committed to getting my BP in check. I was given Lisinopril, TERRIBLE anxiety, chest pain, heart palpitations, awful. This went on for months until I forgot to take it today. I was feeling AMAZING! no anxiety, palpitations, or chest pains. Then I remembered to take it late afternoon. I took it, and my heart shivered for hours and the anxiety came back.
I just found out yesterday from my Pcp that after 8 months of misery ,coughing to the point of bruised ribs broken blood vessels in my eyes loss of sleep ,that it's lisinoprel,
Hoping to start feeling better soon!ty for the video!
Another side effect can be lightheadedness when standing after laying down so sitting upright for 10 sec before standing is recommended. I felt like I was going to pass out but it lasts a few seconds only. I need to hold on to something and let it pass. I've been on 10mg/day for a year and the lightheadedness rarely now happens anymore.
Cough is a minor side effect. Fatigue was part of it too. was on that stuff for 10 years and all of a sudden developed massive facial swelling - came up at work. Went to ER and said NEVER take this EVER AGAIN because you can die. You have developed an allergy to it. Shhhhttt. Put me on Amlopidine but caused heavy chest feeling. I cut that one in half. I am going to get off of all this stuff. BTW, Lisinopril is derived from i believe Brazilian snake venom
I just got out of the hospital. It swelled my lip up. I looked like Buddy Love turning to Professor Clump. That medicine was originally created from snake venom.
I believe for me, the cough, has come and gone for about a month at a time and then then has recurred within two weeks over the last year and I have been taking it for four years. Fantastic video thanks a lot very much appreciated. I will call my doctors on Monday morning, KEEP IT SWINGING ON THE FRONT PORCH! Saturday night and hiding out in Kansas.com
Just got back from my Dr. Took me off it after 10 months. Over time I developed every major side effect, cough so bad the other day I threw up, extreme lethargy, waking up with a swollen tongue a couple nights a week, you name it.
8% of patients will have or develop severe allergic reactions as I did according to my Dr. Had I known all this I would have contacted him months ago. I just wrote it all off to getting old.
dont agree it does have some posative things after one week I had same effect
used to take nj transit bus to work
every one around me
would get off and wait on the same stop for the next bus
so that med
was the best treatment for the crowdy commute to work
Thank you so much you just helped me I did not know what was wrong with me I thought that I have an pneumonia! and I don’t sleep I complain to my doctor he told me to take this pill at night before I go to sleep so I wouldn’t feel dizzy all day God bless you🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
First night on it.Severe headache, blood pressure went up to 170 over 100.im writing this right now after looking up the side effects of this.kidneys hurting.hope i live til morning.this blood pressure has to come down some how !
so agree, give me a cough and after cpl years i got angioedema fom it...whole face swelled up .lips looked like those big fat faked lips they sell...and my cheeks looked like a gopher getting ready for winter with cheeks full of nuts
I just pinpointed Lisinopril as the problem for my constant coughing, heart palpitation, dizziness and shortness of breath. I found that someone I know passed out from a lack of oxygen and was in a coma for 2 weeks.! Even off the drug, a month since the last dose, and still having problems!
I have been having the same problem for months now and had no idea what it could be. When I told my dr she said it was more than likely the lisinipril. She just changed mine to Losartan. Hope this works because I’ve been miserable!
You DID IT!!! OMG I've been coughing up a lung for nearly 3 months! Docs wanted to put me on all kinds of things, but I wanted to know WHY I was coughing, not just surpress it. I would have Never Thought it was high blood pressure meds. Thank You!!!
Was on lotrel gave me a horrible cough. The doc wanted to put me on losartan and metoprolol. That sounds like a great idea let's try two black box warning drugs and see if I die in my sleep. Better yet throw in some tide pods to round it off.... bet the docs wouldn't give this crap to their kids
This is among the best blood pressure solution I`ve read “fetching komso site” (G00GLE it). It is written in clear and understandable language and it is simple to follow. I strongly recommend this book for anybody desiring to lower his or her blood pressure level. My blood returned to the standard 120/80 after using the recommendations on the program.
I had been taking it for about three weeks. I developed a cough and I thought my wife passed me her cough. I finally went to the Doctor and they told me I had no signs of a Respiratory Infection or strep. She did mention that cough and sore throat were some possibly side effects of the medicine. I was also given isosorbide so I didn't which one was worse. I called Caridology three days later and they told me to stop taking them. Two nights later I was finally able to at least lay down to sleep. Still a little cough, but less and less every day now. It was bad, felt like power was being shoved down my throat.
Just stumbled upon this PSA...lol. I am also having issues with HBP and my doc said if I dont get it under control in 3 months he's going to prescribe something which I am fighting. Since losing most of my taste 6 yrs ago during my accident, I have been using a ton of salt so I can at least taste something. I suppose this has caused the issue so I now use "no salt" which is actually good for you. I'm trying to drink lots of water and eat foods that tend to lower BP. Staying away as much as possible from things that are known to raise it. I take readings at home a lot and some days its normal, some days it's high. Starting to think heredity has a lot to do with it as on my mom's side there's a lot of HBP. Anyway thanks for the PSA old buddy! Peace!!
Same thing happened to me. Absolutley horrible cough.
I stopped taking it for 2 weeks, the cough went away. I started taking half my dose again.....and the caugh came back.
I switched to losartan. I gotta take more losartan to keep my B.P. just right.....but it works. Unfortunatley, the doc doesnt think i can make any lifestyle changes to control my b.p. Im not overweight, my cholesterol is in a good range for my age (38). Its just heriditary, so ill be taking medicine for the rest of my life. Therefore, its important to find a medicine that has no negative side effects.
I just found my problem, I was having such a miserable life and it was only 5 months that I took it, my husband was hating my cough, he said to me exaggerated, and today my doctor as if nothing says to me is the lisinopril do not worry in 4 weeks already changing your cough will go !!!!!
I'm a 58 overweight male. I started taking Lisinopril and I developed a dry cough (about 12 cough fits a day) went back to see my Dr. He told me all ACE inhibitors cause a dry cough (diuretic effect) Since my cough isn't that bad and it doesn't mess with my sleep; He told me to stay on it.
I was lucky I never had coughing with Lisinopril. I wonder if it's because I always took it on a full stomach. One day I'd still like to get off of them. My thyroid meds causes my blood pressure problem.
I have been taking this medication for 15 years with no issues. My BP stays at 125/70 more or less. It's only bad if it doesn't work for you, most it does work for. All BP Meds have these same warnings on them, just check it out everyone so it's trial & error BTW if you are going to toss those pills and they 20 MG send them to me! This goes for the rest of the Lisinopril pill taking world!~
I was on Lisinopril for a good two years before that cough developed. I finally had enough of the constant coughing and had my doctor switch me to Losartan. Within two weeks, the cough was nearly gone, now it's over a year later, still no cough.
My doctor prescribed Lisinopril for my HBP and I have been taking it for two weeks now. I do have a dry cough and feels like I can't breathe in too deep or I start coughing as if I have bronchitis. Also, I do not know if it is true or not, but I read that Lisinopril was made from the venom from a Brazilian snake! Geeesh!
My friend , this Army vet has been prescribed lisinopril 20mg twice per day. I have been feeling all the symptoms from acid reflux, ulcer, diarrhea, headache, memory loss, sometimes too low of blood pressure feeling faint and weak. This year after the flu, all hell broke loose. PERSISTENT DRY COUGH. In the past two month, I visited my provider at 30 day with the story. She gave me more acid prevent pills. Two weeks later I claim to have a Dry cough attack. She gave me 100 mg of benzonatate 3 per day for cough. This if chewed can kill in 24 hours after ingested, must be swallowed. I stopped the lisinopril and trying other natural methods to lower press.. Mucinex and other med can relief for a moment. This is what happens at the VA Health system.
I went on a whole food plant based diet and got rid of HCTZ and lowered my lisinopril fm 40 to 20md a day. Same with lipitor lowered fm 10mg a day to 10mg every other day. When they tell you you're on these drugs for life don't believe it. I'm hoping to be drug free by 2019.
I started taking it 3 weeks ago and the last 10 days have been pure hell insofar as the cough. I stopped last night when I discovered it was the drug that was responsible. Anybody know how long it'll take before this cough subsides since I'm recently off of this drug
the side effects I had came on after years of using Lisinopril. It can happen anytime. Dry cough was minor compared to akathisia. side effects warning call it motor restlessness. that's just a way the drug companies switch terms around to avoid telling the truth. akathisia is pure hell.
I took it in the summer at first I was dizzy and nauseated for the first month or so...my cough wasn't too bad.. after a month...I started feeling better....with proper diet....and exercise and drinking lots of water...After 9 months my kidneys function better..BPressure is under control....Medicine affects everyone differently...I take a small dose every night
Who im kidding all medication has side effects and adverse effects we all know that, if some side effects call your md so he or she can change your medication there is a lot of highblood medication not just lisinopril/hydrochlorothiazide yeah i can speak and spell generic names i study for that
Blood pressure is not a good indicator of health but IS a good indicator of scared sheep BIg Pharma can make money on you. In Germany they find ways to RAISE your BP so nutrients in blood can reach ALL your body parts. Those new BP machines in doctor offices squeeze your arm so hard you want to scream, The more upset you are the higher BP, the higher the BP the more big pharma can sell you drugs. #BigPharmaHell #FakeNarrative$
You're right. My wife takes it with no issues. But after one dose, I had a serious backache that subsided the next day. But after 2 or 3 days, I had that terrible cough. Thank God, I was aware that it was a side effect. And stopped taking it, Asap. However, it's been 3 days, since I last took any, and that nagging cough, is still present. Bummer!
I've been on it for a month. I've had same exact problem. I'm getting off and now I'm going to start Carditone natural supplements. I've heard nothing but amazing, quick drastic changes. You should try it.
Hey Steve I just got off lisinopril too. I had the same itchy cough except I was going through it for at least 3 months so it's going to take 3 weeks to a month for it to go away. Thanks for the service announcement.
I’ve been on this for years. I now cough, oxygen drops, heart palpitations. For years it was blamed on anxiety...possibly some part of it...but after having test after test done with no findings...these little guys could be the culprit! Are you taking no meds now?
I had the cough from this crap for over year.. only found out it was lisinopril when I couldn't afford it over a summer.. damn near ruined my life.. going on and off of different antibiotics because the doctor didn't know what it was.. ruined my knees with Levaquin trying to heal the cough.. and the steroids that helped the cough but ruined my feet.. softened ligaments and tendons and etc.. just bad shit.. now I gotta get off of Clonidine.. an even worse drug..
All medicines have side effects, and all patients have different reactions to various medicines. I'm sorry if your doctor didn't discuss any potential side effects with you, but that doesn't make Lisinopril a "bad medicine"--it's just not good for you. It's saved a lot of lives, and many people tolerate it very well.
Lots of people are on lisinopril without side effects. When it comes to blood pressure meds you have to find the right one for you. I have had horrible side effects with carvedilol, including extreme fatigue, nausea, muscle spasms etc. consider yourself lucky your side effect was only a cough. However saying this is a bad medicine is not accurate as this may be the prefect med for others.
this pill almost killed being just one week on it , heart palpitations , racing pulse , severe vertigo , nausea, lack of appetite , depression , fatigue , kidney
soreness, 6 days off and i feel like a champ , do your research people !!! This is one bad Drug
