Thank you for this. I don’t know if you’re still on YouTube or not, and if you’ll ever even see this comment (I mean this video is about 2 years old soooo...lol), but I just got started on Paxil and Klonopin (I’d taken Paxil before in my life but it was for other reasons), and I could not believe how the Klonopin just stopped my panicky-ness mid panic attack. I was like... wow, ok then. That works 😂 I’m so glad to see that it’s worked for someone else too. I was reluctant to get on these medications because I have a family history of drug abuse and addiction, but if you don’t abuse it I feel like it’s better than the alternative of constantly having panic attacks.
Side note, your accent and clothing made me think you were from VA/WestVA where I’m from because literally everyone here looks and sounds like you😂 Then you said Ohio and I was like welp, I was close I guess. Lol.
Klonopin is not a good long-term/daily solution to chronic anxiety. It should be considered the same as Xanax. They will both treat acute anxiety and stop a panic attack dead in its tracks (ativan and valium are much lighter.. you wont feel those kick in at proper dosages). Klonopin has a longer half life than Xanax, so the come down is more gentle. But I took Klonopin for several years and I had those instances of confusion and lost periods (weeks) of my life. Klonopin has almost ruined my life several times. This video is old, so hopefully you have everything figured out. My doctor just prescribed me Paxil because I needed to get off of a benzo to deal with my anxiety/panic attacks.
Also, I am 27 and have been prescribed benzos since 19. I still have a hard time getting new prescriptions for them, even though I have well documented medication and therapy history. I wont lie... I abused them when I was much younger, and I totally understand the hesitation to prescribe. Unfortunately, there is nothing worse than trying to go to school or work and having a panic attack. Being able to pop a xanax or klonopin and have that feeling disappear in 10-15 minutes is a gift from heaven.

My anxiety and panic attacks started cause of the use of weed and drinking. Stupid I know now. If I knew it could cause that I would have never done it. Its been 6 months since I had anxiety. Now I'm going to start seeing a psychiatrist they want to start to put me on Paxil. I'm scared to take it cause I've read that it can make you suicidal or agitated and what not. I don't want to do it cause I'm scared of the withdrawal an she wants to put me on 20mg which I think is way too much. But any advice?
weed and drinking are usually a trigger for anxiety I'm not sure why but that's the first thing my doctor and pyscitrist asked me they said it's very common. I have generalized anxiety have been anxious non stop for the past 6 years I still have yet to find a medication that helps I recently got prescibed a new med but I have to wean off my old stuff first.but just try not to read side effects or read horror stories up on them everybody reacts different and it's the law they need to put every side effect that could happen. the worst side effects I've had is sweating, sex drive somewhat gone and weight gain when I was younger I've been on 6 different meds.
10:25 i really understand what you mean by the confusion induced by paxil. I too sometimes think back and wonder if something in the past had actually happened or was just part of one of my crazy vivid dreams. Btw i take 20mg Paxil daily
how do most doctors wean you off celexa? I understand switching to a benzo I'm prescribed those for once in a while panic attacks and to help me sleep if I'm really on edge, but what would most doctors do? Im taking 10mgs a day which is a low dose but where do I go from here? Should I take 10mgs every other day? Kind of at a standstill as I'm trying to kick all this crap out of my life
Im off it now just switch to 10 mg a day for while and eventually you will find a time in your life where you will drop it. I did it on a vacation where I was drinking the whole trip then once I got backI was a little edgy for a few days but it was worth it because I went back to normal. You can get off it I've been off for 4 months and I remember I thought I was messed up for life but your really not. I wish you the best of luck it is a challenge but you can pull through it!
If you're still on Paxil be careful! Do not suddenly stop it, unlike the other antidepressants this one has a huge risk of severe withdrawal symptoms. I've read some medical literature stating it really isn't much more beneficial going over 20mg for anxiety or panic disorder but everyone is different. Maybe all you really need is Klonopin if you're doing well on that.
+QuantumPowerX2 , Ive actually came off paxil once n celexa n i didnt withdrawal... i got lucky i guess ! when i switched from xanax to klonopin i def felt some withdrawals there but it didnt last more the a few weeks n i was able to get through it just by roughing it out, i know it can be way worse n i understand why people would need help for serve withdrawals !!
+james young , Ive taken the highest dosage which is 600 Mg , I def heard its for pain also n seizure type symptoms, Or just seizures themselves i believe.... I really cant answer that because i dont have any aches or pains at the moment or sense i been on it, I know i talked to a person whos wife was on it for back pain n he seemed to have good things to say about it, but me personally ( Thank God ) i dont have any pains that i can think of, or if i did i never paid attention to see if it helped that along with the anxiety, id keep reading n asking other people ! sorry i couldn't give ya a better answer.
hey man me and you sound like we have been down the same path.Im on Klonopin now and its been pretty great!!Xanax is pretty good only for bad panic attacks though.Klonopin really makes me feel normal all day which is awesome.Email me sometime at email@example.com later..
+james young , I agree 100% with u... Xanax def helps alot when ur having a major panic attack more then klonopin but klonopin pretty much prevents u from having that major attack in the first place !! Thanks for the comment.
In this video, you mentioned Gabapentin, what do you think of that med? Did it help for anxiety and panic? I am working with my therapist and have to go back to the doc next week to try something new. I cannot take the SSRIs. Every single one I have tried has made me feel MORE anxious, agitated and jittery, crawling out of skin feeling. I have so many friends and family members that take them, particularly Celexa and Zoloft and it has helped all of them except me, so trying to find another solution. Re: Gabapentin, I have read mixed reviews about withdrawal symptoms.
I believe its based on if people abuse them or if they take em right, My dad was on Valium for 15 years n had to stop taking them due to work policy changes ( hes drives a truck ) he quit cold turkey with no withdrawals at all... so i sorta believe it depends on if ur a abuser n ur addicted n not taking them for the right reasons or if ur truly suffering from anxiety n need them n ur taking them for the right reasons... Ive actually watched alot of videos n what i tell people who put benzos down is that u need to see me without them lol im a mess !!! for me i just take 2 pills a day n i feel normal for the most part... Idk i wouldnt go back to feeling like hell everyday because im scared of withdrawals in the future, If i ever have to deal with that ill cross that path then...n everybodys body acts different so its hard to say how bad someones withdrawals will be if they have any at all ! I mean someone made klonopin, xanax, valium an ativan for a reason.. An i believe im taking them for the right reason n its working !
Thanks! The Gabapentin got GLOWING reviews for anxiety on drugs.com. I am going to ask my doctor about it. Re: Benzos, I do take Ativan as needed, probably only once or twice a month. Benzos are SO bad! Doctorofmind (aka Dr. Mark Viner) used to post amazing videos on you tube of every different drug. Benzos have life threatening withdrawal symptoms. My previous therapist told me one of her patients had to be hospitalized for months to get off of Xanax. You should watch some you tube videos on "Benzo withdrawl" and listen to people's stories. They are really REALLY dangerous and getting off of them almost always requires hospitalization. Also, benzos actually CAUSE depression. They are depresogentics. They are definitely useful for panic attacks but should never be used on a regular basis.
+John Patrick Sullivan , I was prescribed Gabapentin for the sensations i felt when i was dealing with high anxiety or when i felt i was gonna go into a panic attack, because at those moments i felt i was gonna have a seizure, I would get super tense n my muscles became stiff n i would also twitch some...I was also taking Celexa and Xanax at the time so idk if im truly suited to say how much gabapentin really affected me... I do know i was taking it 3 times a day at 600Mgs ( i do believe it helped me some but how much im not sure ) But pretty much the highest dose, There was a girl i commented with on here ( i believe shes in this comment section ) N she only took gabapentin for anxiety n she seemed to like it for the most part !! It sounds like ur anxiety/panic attacks are really bad, I know weve talked before n i believe u dont like taking Benzos but it truly sounds like u need Klonopin or a Xanax to calm u... youd be surprised how much they can make a difference, I take Klonopin twice a day now n thats all i take i rarely feel any anxiety !! its a great feeling. I hope u can find a Med soon that helps u !!!
Medicine does not help long term anxiety. .medicine acts like a bandage and that's why after a while pill dosages goes up or you switch to something new.. it's really sad and I deal with anxiety and no medicine. I have good and bad days. On my best days I just face my anxiety and it goes away.. if you feed fear it makes things worse. .God bless all who suffer♡
+Priscilla Ridley , I respect what ur saying...But some peoples Anxiety an Panic Attacks control there lives and they cant help it... N thats where Medicine does come in N work ! I wish i didnt have to deal with Medicines, it sucks forsure ! but just like someone who is a physico N needs Meds to stay sane, I know this family N they had a person in the family who was physico N he was on Meds n when on them he was Ok , I member he had to change Docs n the new Doc took him off what he was taking n not long after he was hearing voices n ended up shooting his Farther an Mother ! Same with people with Bi polar... its just a Chemical imbalance we cant control, N some people have Anxiety N Attacks alot worse then others ! u gotta base everybody individually on there own cases. I truly wish i didnt need Meds !! But for me they truly help ! I respect u try n grin n bare it which can be soooo rough !! Thanks for the comment N yes god bless all the suffers !
You mentioned you had to take a leave of absence from work (like I did as well). How were you able to face going back to work without having panic attacks? Was it a specific medicine that allowed you to go to work again on a daily basis? I still have not gone back yet. I'm meeting with my Dr. again tomorrow to get back on Celexa.
+John Patrick Sullivan , I think i initially missed around 4 or 5 weeks !! I was taking celexa n xanax...N it took a min for the celexa to kick in n for me to learn when to take the xanax n when not to, to be honest it was rough, xanax is what got me through, being able to pop one when i felt a attack coming or knowing i was gonna have to sit through a meeting !! But the last 3 or 4 months now ive been on klonopin, n its changed my life ! i can get haircuts, i can go to work meetings ... I rarely get those random OMG i feel a attack coming right now moments ! i know klonopin is a benzo but in the end thats what it was made for.. i know it can be additive, but i truly get no buzz at all from it ! just a sense of relief of the looming Panic Attacks, I hope ur Doc helps ya out !!
My panic attacks started at work also and I had to take a leave of absence from my six figure corporate job and was afraid to drive, etc. Did Celexa or any of the other SSRIs make you feel jittery at first? Thats how I felt when I first started Celexa and stopped after a few weeks because I didn't feel like it was helping, but I'm going back to the doctor in two days to try again. I take Ativan probably once a month. The benzos help panic immediately, but CAUSE depression and rebound anxiety and are highly addictive. I went to a treatment center earlier in the year for anxiety and they perscribed Hydroxizine (brand name is Vistaril). Its older, but calms you down quick, mellows you out and is completely non-addictive. You should try that.
+John Patrick Sullivan , Only a few of the Daily Meds made me feel jittery, Paxil and Celexa didnt, But i hated em because i had no sex drive and i felt sorta emotionless !! My mom takes ativan n i know its the weakest outta the benzo family.... ( Ativan, Xanax, Klonopin and Valium) ... I respect not wanting to take a benzo but u gotta member its what there made for n if u take them responsibly n the right way they dont affect u as bad.. Like i said in another reply to u, Klonopin has saved n changed my life !! n yes i had a panic attack once n i had to go to the hospital n they gave me Xanax N Vistaril.. it was hard to tell if Vistaril did anything because they also gave me xanax too, Only because i was prescribed it but ran out a lil before my refill date because i was taking em so much due to my anxiety being so bad...Im pretty stuck on Klonopin is a game changer if u take it right ! i know its powerful but i sorta need it :/ really wish i could go back to the days of just doing whatever without a care in the world, I really do hope ur Anxiety gets better n u find the right Meds for u !! N get back to ur job.. Hate to see someone lose a great job over anxiety and panic attacks !!
Thank you for the information/your thoughts. I've had anxiety for years and finally got on medication a couple months ago. I'm on Gabapentin and working through the side effects but it helps my mood so much I have a hard time getting down/depressed anymore. It helps my anxiety but not to the level I want yet. But I'm rambling, probably will make a video about my experience with Gabapentin so far.
+iloveTool , Ive never thought of myself having a accent lol but im from Ohio :) N where I work ive pretty much told everybody about my anxiety so i dont worry so much about people noticing my systems..An spacing ur Meds closer together can always work but sometimes for me it makes me tired :/ but it does work ! N i never feel anxiety when i drink.. Its only afterwards n if i drink wayyyy to much... I may feel it then, if ur talkin about the video i posted last night i just posted that one for fun lmao sometimes my anxiety drives me nuts n i gotta remember that im still a person who likes to have fun n joke around :p glad to hear that spacing ur meds closer is helpin u at work tho ! Nothing worse then feeling anxiety at work !!
+TheMaShane18 Where are you from? Your accent sounds Midwestern. I'm in Wisconsin, have a pretty thick Wisconsin accent lol I saw on another video you said you worry about if people can tell you have anxiety I have the same problem. At work I'm sure people can see my physical symptoms and then I take gabapentin and it helps some but makes me even more spacey so I get paranoid if they can see that too lol I started taking my 3 doses closer to each other so its during work and that seems to help a bit more. do you ever get panic attacks when you're drinking?
+iloveTool , I think my anxiety is a lil more Panic Attack based anymore, getting nervous an or scared when in meetings or walking in open spaces an outta nowhere ill start to feel faint cause i scare myself so bad, thinking im gonna have a panic attack n pass out foreal, when it never happens... But i do have general anxiety also, Like u said feeling irritated sometimes and for me its feeling anxious an not being able to complete the task at hands ( whatever it may be ) cause my mind will race about so many other things when my anxiety is up, ill just wanna pace an not stay still !! Gabapentin isnt fully a anxiety medication... sense ur a lil nervous to try a Benzo like klonopin or xanax which do help but also have there own risks ! Maybe try a true daily anxiety med like Celexa or Paxil, Theres plenty of others u can read about or ask ur Doctor about ! If u feel the gabapentin is only doing so much id be looking into a full on daily anxiety/panic attack Med. over upping ur Mgs, thats just me, But upping ur mgs is always worth a shot if u like ur Med ( Gabapentin ) but just want more out of it ! its hard to say :/ it can get confusing !!
+TheMaShane18 Damnnn stupid Gabapentin is not helping me this week. Like I don't feel it at all. My anxiety and depression is back with a force. I think I'm going to try a higher dosage tomorrow because I cannot take the racing thoughts and feeling on edge/irritated and down all day long! Especially being around people at work, I can't participate and engage with people when anxiety is running my life. Do you have general anxiety disorder too? like worry a lot and feel trapped/on edge? Or is your anxiety only panic attacks? This is frustrating, I was feeling better I don't want to be back in this hole
+iloveTool , Gabapentin is a Anxiety medicine but not a full on Anxiety med... youd prolly be better off trying paxil or celexa for a full on Anxiety med ! A higher dosage of Gabapentin tho could help if you feel what ur taking is helping some !! and yea a Panic Attack before it hits makes you feel the weirdest things...I plan on making a video possibly today on my first panic attack ever and how it came about n what i felt n how i tried dealing with it n just everything else that came along with the ride, it was one of the scariest moments of my life so far... I def thought i was dying !! an ive had Attacks in front of people but im very honest about my Panic attacks so when i have one in front of someone it dosent bother me cause they know what im going through or they at least know im having a attack, thats actually helped my anxiety an attacks in itself to be honest.. telling people about my Attacks so they know i have them, Ive been honest with friends, family, Gf's if i have one at the time, my job.. Ive even told the lady that cuts my hair i have em so that they know.. it keeps me calmer knowing the person im around knows i have them so if it gets real bad i can tell them Hey im not feeling right an i dont gotta explain the situation, They already know ! N to be honest Klonopin is made to help... its worth trying ! i swear on everything i love it has changed my life the day i started taking it !! but i understand its not for everyone an some people dont wanna go that far into meds, I really do hope ur Anxiety an Attacks get better, U can always ask me questions on here.. Im very open about it all :)
