In this video, I attempt to figure out if I will be able to smoothly edit a High Definition MP4 clip using the iBook G4's hardware and the software of choice being iMovie HD 6. Will everything be as smooth as butter or will I be showing you all a laggy laptop? Keep watching to find out.
I read every comment, and appreciate any type of feedback you leave on my videos.

I just won one on eBay for $50 lol. It's a a1133. The fastest and last of the iBook series with 512MB of RAM onboard, 32MB of graphics, and the processor is at 1.33ghz. I have a USB SSD for it for the media, so it should import faster than the SataI (first gen) HDD inside and prolong the lifecycle of the laptop.
I too use Sony Vegas for a lot of my channels content, but I'd like to have something for basic edits that I wouldn't need to go as far as using Vegas for so my main rig doesn't need the downtime.
Just curious.. How long did this 12 second clip take to export? If the importing took that long, I can imagine it sat for a good 10-15 minutes exporting :P
I took it to the test a while ago too with 1080p video. Works too with iMovie but like you said, THE IMPORT TAKES FOREVER! Glad iMovie nowadays let's you start editing while the video is still importing. Saves a lot of time compared to this lol
